Budget (including currency): ~1000 PLN/~250 USD + money for selling stuff, budget might be a bit higher if its really worth Country: Poland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games - CS2, Lol, Spelunky 2, Sot, Cyberpunk2077, R&C, ps3 emulation, assetto corsa, ac competizione, atomic heart, awesomenatus, wrc games F1 games, party games, Premiere pro, after effects, photoshop, some streamming Other details : I'm not in hurry so i can wait some time for a new releases, Hi, During IEM i had an opportunity to get my hand on msi claw and it got me thinking about some change. I had "old" steamdeck upgraded to 1TB, and at my familly house desktop: I9-9900k with Noctua NH-D15 2x140mm G.SKILL 32GB (2x16GB) 3000MHz CL16 Aegis ASRock Z390 TAICHI MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO 11GB GDDR6 Corsair HX750i 750W 80 Plus Platinum Fractal Design Define R6C Blackout Tempered Glass Two M.2 drives (samsung 970 evo 500gb and crucial 1TB) 1TB SATA Samsung SSD some kind of icy box that i rarely use 3 noctua 120mm fans for intake and one 140mm for exhaust 1440p144hz main monitor 1080p144hz 2nd Despite its age this setup handles nicely even newer titles. I'm currently student so most of the week 5/7 days (- holidays) i spent in different city. I do have tablet (samsung tab s9+) so I DON'T NEED LAPTOP. If i have some free time i can play some games on my steam deck but it is a bit too little powerful. Playing some indie games is ok but steamdeck's 60hz screen isnt the best one, more demanding titles i have to sacrifice graphic settings, booting to windows and trying to do some editing in adobe programs also isn't perfect experience due to lack of performance. There are things that i love about steamdeck i can just plug it into tv get a few dualsence controllers and my and my friends can have gaming party on TV. Getting to the point The performance of Msi Claw posistively suprised me also the screen despite not being oled looked more than enough. My 1st thought was to sell my steamdeck add a bit of money and buy oled one but it wouldn't really change performance. My 2nd idea is to sell steamdeck, most of pc (motherboard, ram, cpu, cooling, maybe power supply... ) and buy Msi Claw (or a different handheld), GPU enclosure for my 2080Ti. Looking at benchmarks Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 processor 155H (msi claw) performs a bit better than my I9-9900k. I have some conserns about that: - how good would eGPU accualy run - would i be able to connect: mouse, keyboard, microphone (mini jack), speakers (optical port), discs (at least some of them) and probably from time to time some usb stick, or different accessories ^without affecting eGPU performance - on 1st sight msi software seems middling - I'm into Playstation button layout, steamdecks is ok, msi claw/xbox/asus rog have less comfortable one but maybe it is just something to get used to PS: my tablet has amazing screen and i found an app called superdisplay that allowes me to make it act as a display with pretty good results - full res 120hz, touchscreen works, Samsung pen's pressure sensivity works...... but it has 3 disadvantages - 1 no hdr support, works only with windows, it uses quite a lot of processing power. What do you think about my upgrade idea? Which handheld would fit my needs the best? What GPU enclosure do you recomend? ^ could i buy used one or not really? What are your experience with running handhelds+eGPU for a longer time? Maybe it is better to save some money for steamdeck upgrade and leave pc as it is for now? Any ideas how to improve my idea? If you have any questions I'm happy to answer

My Potential Extremely ROUGH Idea: So in a brief nutshell, I have been throwing around an idea I have had for a while now. My idea would be to provide a secure off-site location for people to store there encrypted, password protected off-site drives. I would provide people with the software required to encrypt and password protect either there own drive or I would also offer to provide a drive and the required software to encrypt and password protect there data. All off-site backups would like inside a secure fire proof safe and I would provide a few different teirs for them to choose from. Eventually I would also provide a service that would allow users to have there own dedicated computer that would integrate with a service such as Dropbox, and this would allow the user to backup there Dropbox data automatically to there dedicated server. So this would allow the user the user to backup there data simply and easily "on the fly" so to speak. As I stated above, this would be a VERY small business in the beginning and I currently have NO business plan etc. As I am literally just "airing" my thoughts so to speak. To say this idea is in its infancy is an understatement. I have done no due diligence etc. Or much research to be honest at this point. With that all said, I guess I was just looking for any and all constructive criticism, feedback, comments or suggestions etc. Please be nice Thanks so very much in advance P.S. - I AM NOT TOO SURE IF I HAVE POSTED THIS IN THE CORRECT CATEGORY, SO IF I HAVEN'T, I AM VERY VERY SORRY, AND IF A MOD WOULD LIKE TO MOVE IT TO THE CORRECT PLACE, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT - Thanks so much again

DIY the fastest handheld for too much money warning: this is stupid, but if you want the fast handheld pc, this is an option. Also need to be very tech-savvy. (or very stupid (or both)) to actually do this. Question? What is faster than a ROG Ally but smaller than an itx pc? It's the motherboard of an alienware x17 12900hk (very important that it's that CPU(unless you know how to undervolt a 12700h(I don’t))). The reason for the choice is that it is too my knowledge. The smallest, most compact, motherboard that is available with a CPU that can be undervolted. The steps are quite simple really. 1: Acquire alienware x17 with 12900hk. For somewhat high resolution photos of the motherboard, I suggest the pictures from this seller on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/166369177351?epid=20059595121&hash=item26bc602f07:g:Xb0AAOSwjOllK8Tu&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0DuhiKAcX%2BQi8kj%2Bp2xSRBPLDRlrlPrIAX4CD%2BCNE9y55Mi66%2Bw%2FUGuati20mFkwWOdjK2SzJV%2BPmd%2F%2BQhj2u9lYQLoqFNR9pZVJpvG5AzQomZQqOFcPvGHXNJdzQnxrKTLW6m5330xPj1NaAABMF4W6DetNfPgokUWmXHYM54w%2FDxL8h8VncdjZxUMbC2efUUUzIvMPlc%2BJfnl0qY5Tx66oCUxks5mjwQtFy90RMK8RBYnjMzeTnB5faI7RTe%2BN6XtWT2Oqfm2MaeOFierC5Pw%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_LnvLabYw 2: Undervolt the shit out of it. So it draws as little power as possible 3: Figure out cooling, and battery. 4: now for the controls, some laptops complain if the keyboard is not plugged in to the motherboard, I don't know if that is the case here. If so, I suggest going with the clamshell style. Small keyboard on the bottom, with flip-up screen on top, and half of a sawed off controller on each side. 5 hopefully while reading this you have already been thinking of a design for this amalgamation to go in, if not you should probably get on that now. After figuring all that out, you should hopefully have a working handheld pc that still is guzzling power too hot is heavy and quite big. But faster than anything else on the market. Good luck an idiot. Disclaimers: This is stupid and perhaps impossible. This was written by someone that does not know enough about this kind of things to actually be writing this. And lastly I am dyslectic and English is not my first language so grammatical errors are inevitable.

I've been wearing one of these zippered CAT hoodies for a few months now. The way the strings go inside is fantastic and not something I've really seen anywhere else. I think they did it for workwear reasons like not having hoodie strings getting caught in moving parts. Whatever the case, having the strings inside is fantastic. Non-visible strings makes the hoodie look significantly less like something a high school or college kid would wear, but still maintains all the functionality of a hoodie. The attached images don't show it off well, but inside strings also gives the opportunity to have fun colored strings that function as mostly hidden accent colors. Similarly those yellow fabric loops that hold the strings in place inside the hoodie are a good splash of color and definitely a place for some stealth branding. Though they are visible more often than you'd expect if you tend to wear it slightly unzipped. The strings being inside is also more impactful that you'd think. No dangling when you lean over, no landing in food while you cook, and no bouncing all over when you run. Also for anyone with sensory concerns, not having dangling hoodie strings is amazing! 10/10 would recommend! Would love to see something similar on LTT hoodies in the future!

With the CPU pillow, I think it'd be cute/cool to have bedding in the style of pc components. Like a Motherboard blanket, PSU sheets, RAM or GPU Pillow covers, etc. Would fit in with other products you guys sell.

An Anti Fatigue Mat with the same prints as the desk pads. It's annoying that all the Anti Fatigue Mats on the market are a stock solid black.

So I, and I assume quite a few other people have the problem that my computer will exit sleep mode to do scheduled tasks like running a backup script or performing a system update. And when it's done, it won't go back to sleep. This means when I'm on holiday and away from my computer for a while, I seem to always come back to a computer that has been on for nearly the entire time, I've been away. It's a waste of power and probably a little bit of a fire risk too. But of course, I don't want my computer to go to sleep if I'm using it OR if I've deliberately left it on to download some large files or to run something that I need it to be running. My idea is to have some kind of "Smart Sleep" Where, after being inactive for a certain amount of time (I'm thinking 2 or so hours), it will check itself if it's actually doing something. (Let's say CPU usage is over 10% or if more than 5 Mbps of data is being transferred) If these criteria are not met, then it will put itself to sleep, but if it detects that it's doing something and probably should stay awake, then it won't. I wonder if this kind of thing exists. I don't think I would be the only one looking for something like this

I've noticed after a few months of use my backpack has begun to sag and droop in the "pouch of holding" with my daily load (steamdeck in case, water bottle, Cat6e cables). Could LTT consider making an interior skeleton to add into the "pouch of holding" to help keep it's shape when its not stuffed? If I lay the deck flat in its carry case it no longer droops/sags but makes access to it a bit more annoying and doesnt allow for the whole water bottle sleeve to be used by my 21 oz'er. So a firm maybe modular skeleton add in on the bottom or the entire section would be nice. May even add some protection to contents as well Photos below are without flat deck and with flat deck

Why has noone ever built a computer with frosted smart glass side panels before? The idea hit me yesterday and it seems pretty cool to me! Say, you have a 900D and you replace the side window panel with black smart glass, so when the computer is not powered on it looks like it has no side window, its all just a black plate like the other side of the case. But when you turn on the computer and power the glass it suddenly goes transparant, revealing all your slick custom watercooling and stuff inside. I am going to build this next year for sure! Video demo for those who have not seen the concept. http://vimeo.com/81322879 Would any of you want to try this?

Once I saw the Rackstuds in the store I know they would love to see this device https://patchbox.com/setup-exe-installation-tool/ It's basically an arm that connects to rack holes to hold servers or network devices up while installing. The other patchbox stuff is kind of cool but this one is a game changer.

I've thought about it for a little while and never seen it mentioned anywhere. All 16:9 video resolution names are silly. There are many names for the same resolutions. 1080p, 2k or Full HD. Sure, 1080p might include wider screens that are still 1080 pixels tall. 2k might mean a 16:10 display that's still 1920 pixels wide. But I'm especially annoyed at the "k" names, 2k, 4k 8k etc. I understand it's because that's approximately how many pixels wide they are and only 4k and 8k are defined standardised names. But hear me out. Because: By coincidence (or maths if you prefer) all common 16:9 resolutions add to an even 1000. And I think using those that for names instead would be cool. 1280 + 720 = 2000 (2k!) 1920 + 1080 = 3000 (Why is this one called 2k?) 2560 + 1440 = 4000 (Exactly 4k, clean) 3840 + 2160 = 6000 (I'll come back to 5000) 7680 + 4320 = 12000 With this we can even fill out the table, any even 1000 can be split to an even 16:9 ratio. Maybe 3200 + 1800 = 5000 (so 3200x1800) is the sweetspot for 32" monitors for example. Conclusion: 2k should be called 3k. 4k is actually 6k. And the International Telecommunication Union can't count. Thank you.

It would be cool if topics that are no longer relevant could be moved to a sub-thread in the classified thread. That way it would be much easier to see items that haven't sold, and ones that people are still wanting to buy.

Currently: - NVidia's 30-series launch (3080, 3090 and others) was bad, AMD, Xbox and PS5 also had shortages - Scalpers are bad - The difference between MSRP and auction price on eBay now goes to scalpers I haven't seen this as a solution: - Make 1st batch of products available for sale - Make it an auction with MSRP as base price. Auction lasts for at least 24h - The difference between MSRP and sale price goes to either: - You - Split between you and a charity - All to a charity Next batch of products will have a lower average sale price Repeat until it's expected retail price, and you can meet what seems to be the remaining, steady demand Thoughts?

A little sketch of a sliding phone i though about. It would remove the need for 3 screens and would make the usability experience more seamless. We had this already on a few phone back then for keyboard. Why not now for screen. Do you think it's viable y/n, why? Any opinion is appreciated.

I get cold feet a lot so I'm a big fan of slippers. And I thought why not gaming mouse shaped slippers! Shaped like a gaming mouse, obviously, they could be black or white, and maybe have some coloured accents for that RGB vibe. Just a thought

Hi. I have a new idea for next generation of motherboards. Now, imagine you build a PC and you don't have any drive for installing Windows 10 to your PC. Or you just lazy to take a flash drive or something else... So, i have a idea about to solve this problem. The solution is; Your motherboard BIOS got a new feature called "Download and Install Windows 10 from Microsoft server" feature. Just you are entering your BIOS menu, and clicking "Download and Install Windows 10" menu. Then options are showing up like you wanna install 32-Bit or 64-Bit. Then you make your selection and then pressing "OK". And waiting about your Windows 10 Downloading... And when Downloading, your PC starts to install Windows 10 automatically (You get a manual Windows 10 setup page after the last step. I mean you have to choose your HDD and installing. You already know that). ASUS, MSI and other companies i hope they will listen my idea... Also, i wonder what LinusTechTips thinking about this idea?

So the cpu manufacturers have always been creating ways on how to make PC building easier and I had an idea. It's simple but will give new builders more confidence They should put a circle in the middle of the cpu just enough space for the thermal paste to cover when applying it out of the tube they can put letters there so why can't they put a very helpful circle in the middle to help on the thermal paste application

Im surprised they havent made one yet with all the “gaming” paraphernalia available. For people on the go wouldn’t a gaming-backpack with a built in egpu be a good idea? You could just plug your you laptop into yout backpack and then plug your backpack into a wall. I dont think its too weird considering they have backpack PCs now.

I absolutely love compact pc builds, but they are never compact enough for me and I've been trying to figure out ways to make an even smaller build. Recently though when I saw the LTT video featuring the Comino RM. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fbf4800fkfQ&t=736s) I saw how the graphics cards were sandwiched together and it go me thinking about if that were to be done with a CPU and GPU instead. to make the build even more compact it would be a case with an acrylic distro plate side panel and the front face would be a 240mm radiator in the front with the Front panel IO actually being on the top and a mesh back with a single smaller fan to help vent the passive heat build up from the SSD, ram, etc. obviously this would have to be a fully custom build but i think it has potential. It may not be the prettiest or easiest to build in case but obviously the whole design could be adjusted to have absolutely uncompromised performance in the smallest possible foot print. Thoughts please?

After watching Linus video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPOhKULOL4o At first I was like there aren't any good uses for it as well, but the more you think about it, there's some really cool applications you can have for it. Like at the barbers, you could have a real time camera tracking your face and you can see different hairstyles on you. (reflected in the mirror) i was wondering if there's any more niche uses like this one

This is in no way sponsored. I was lucky to attend Oracle World in Vegas in 2022 and one of the items they gave out was a H2GO Water bottle. It was in no way as good as LTT however it did have one advantage. It has a https://www.fillitforward.com/ qrcode imprinted on it. This results in a charity donation being made every time the water bottle is used. It also tracks the reduction in carbon footprint and waste ever time you reuse through an app. This may be something LTT should consider. Having the FIF sticker imprinted on each LTT bottle would not only result in awareness of reuse but also would benefit the charities. It would also be great to see LTT as an open group on the FIF app. As a community we can do great things. You can purchase stickers directly from https://www.fillitforward.com/ but having it printed on the bottle would be way cooler. Perhaps if LTT did not want to alter the design. A sticker could be an optional purchase to retrospectively place on the bottles. How do we get this to the attention of the LTTStore?
