OK - I dont know if this is the correct forum, if not, please redirect me... I have an older system (april '14) based on the "Ultimate Video Editing Rig"-video from around that same period. It is used mainly for development work, content creation (UE, Blender, 3DS Max, Adobe PP and AE) and a bit of gaming (WoW, Crysis, SWToR, Star Citizen and the likes...) Config: ASUS P9X79-E WS Intel Core i7 4930K@3.40Hz 32 GB RAM DDR3-1066 EVGA GTX 780 TI 2 x 250GB Samsung SSD 840 EVO 2 x 1TB Western Digital WDC 1 x 2TB Western Digital WDC Corsair i680 PSU Fractal Design Define R5 Case HP LP3065 Monitor (2560*1600 @ 60Hz) CPU and GPU is not OC'ed and the system is cooled by a custom Water loop. This system was about 4000€ incl. the water loop and it still perfoms, but it is starting to show signs of fatigue, i.e. Unreal Editor or Premiere PRO and the BSoD's seems to be creeping up on me. I also sometimes envy some of the new games, that I am not able to play (Doom Eternal, Shadow of the Toomb Raider etc.) My dilemma is - should I upgrade: GTX 780 TI -> RTX 2080/3080 (<-- those seems to be unavailable atm...) HDD -> NVME M.2 (with a modded UEFI being able to move OS to NVME's) 32GB -> 64GB HP LP3065 -> new 32" 144HZ monitor (i.e. Samsung Odyssey G5/G7) or should I start from fresh building a brand new RIG? I know this is highly subjective, but I am asking for your opinion - what would you do if you were in my shoes? Please help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I am in dire straits.... Regards from DK Martin Moesby

So I have been borrowing an i7 4930k, an asrock x79 extreme 9 MOBO, and a Corsair h60 water cooler from a friend, and he wants payment, or the parts back. He has said that I can keep it all for 500$ I'm wondering if I should just do that, or go into something more modern like Ryzen, or Kaby lake. I'm going into Computer Science in college right now, but I do a lot of gaming, so I think a 6 core is a nice in-between maybe an R5 1600? I have my old FX-8350 build that I can use for a bit, if I have to give this stuff back and buy a new system, so I won't be completely without a computer. I'd like to hear other people's opinions on the situation. Any ideas?

hey guys, so long story short, i have the chance to switch my rig from i7-4930K on an ASUS P9X79 board, to an i7-5960x on an MSI X99S Gaming 7? (mainly use the pc for 3d rendering on vray 65% and game occasionally 30%). can you please advice me on if it is a gd deal or should i stick with my older rig. and if switch how much gain will it be in production mainly. thnx in advance

Ok guys the i7-4930K is 25$ more expensive than i7-5930K the problem is that i cant choose what i want - If i go for i7-4930K i will go with EDIT:Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 or ASUS X99-DELUXE ( 2011 ) and DDR3 1833 G.SKILL Trident X Series memory. - if i go for i7-5930k i will go with ASUS X99-DELUXE ( 2011-v3 ) and DDR4 ( dunno what brand or mhz ) When i buy my feature computer i will not change anything atlest 5/6 years. So i need something that will support me that long at full performance ( dunno how to say it )
