Hey there, I am planning on upgrading my rig as I have a I5 9600k & an rx 6600XT. I am planning on upgrading my cpu, mobo, and ram and im trying to figure out whever to buy the Ryzen 5 7600X or spend the extra money on the ryzen 7 7800X3D. I would like to run microsoft flight simulator & fortnite on Ultra settings, 1080p above 60 fps just fine. I dont have a crazy budget so if I buy the ryzen 5 7600X i will probably have money to upgrade my gpu sooner than later if needed. I would like to know how my fps would be at 1080p with the rx 6600XT paired with the ryzen 5 and ryzen 7. Thanks!

I have the MSI 3070 ventus 2x and an i5 9600k I can't stream and game at all maybe like slay the spire or among us, can barely play games like valorant while I'm not streaming. I will be upgrading to an i9 9900k as soon as I can anyway so hope that helps. I am close to taking it in somewhere for help.

So I'm thinking of buying a new cpu, but no matter what I will need a new motherboard. I was thinking about i5 9600k that im gonna overclock (I will need a new motherboard, cooler and power supply). Other option I was thinking about is a Ryzen 5 3600 bundle that comes with a motherboard, new ram and the cpu. At the moment I have a 550W powersupply, 2x 2600mhz 8gb ram, a gtx 1660 super and i5 7500 I mostly play Rust which is like 87% cpu game. I have also heard that Intel is better at like single threading which is good for Rust. Buying the i5 9600k will most likely gonna come more expensive than the R5 bundle and I have a budget around 400€

Hello I have a problem with my memory clock I have g.skill trident z rgb 3600mhz cl16 16-18-18-39. I loaded the XMP profile in the BIOS but the memory only clocks at 3200mhz although 3600mhz is set. The 3200mhz is displayed in the bios, in HWINFO and in Cpu z. Then I got the ram at 3866mhz and 17-19-19-42 and then I was shown a memory clock of 3466mhz in all tools. I also noticed that with Prime95 whether xmp profile is activated or not after 10min a core stops after a main thread shows a fatal error. My cpu is the i5-9600kf and the motherboard is the gigabyte z390 aorus elite. I tried the BIOS versions f9 and f10c and had the problem with both. Would be super nice if someone could help me. The BIOS is completely stock and the CPU, motherboard and memory are new. I also don't have any components there to replace them in my setup which makes troubleshooting difficult

Hello All, Following my last post, I managed to purchase the correct Motherboard needed to house my new Intel i5 9600K, I went for a ROG B390-H Strix Gaming. The standard clock speed for my CPU is 3.7Ghz, however, when booting my PC up I have noticed that even with the smallest loads (Chrome & iCue) the CPU seems to idle on Average at 4.4Ghz. (please see pictures below) Although I am aware K processors can be Overclocked, I have not overclocked mine and am worried that the CPU is being damaged. I recently format my PC after purchasing an SSD and have only downloaded NZXT CAM to monitor my temps etc... Can anyone give an advice on whether or not this is an issue or is normal for this type of processor. If it is an issue, what can I do to fix it? Kind Regards, Millsy

Hello. I’m doing my first build and I wanted to test before I put mine in the case. I was wondering do I need to have the cpu cooler on for this? I’m not gonna overclock, I just want to get everything booted. I’m using an evga z370 ftw with intel i5 9600k. My cooler is a Corsair h60 so I’m a bit stumped on how to use an aio cooler for test bench. Also I have a evga 1080 ftw gpu. help is greatly appreciated thanks!

So I just installed my new pc and I noticed that when I boot it up in idle it's sitting at around 10-15 usage with nothing else open except process explorer. The usages in explorer don't even add up. Is this normal ?

Hello all im new to this forum so i apologize if this is the wrong thread. Well im new to overclocking just been pc gaming for awhile now and i have recently just upgraded my whole system with overclocking in mind and something i wanted to do! So the issue im having is ive changed everything in my bios to OC at 5.0 set the voltage up a little adjusted a few other things using MSI BIOS walkthrough and over clock guide and i set the bios restart go in to CPUz immediatley and it shows 5.0 4.9 bouncing around for about 10 seconds and than settles on 4.6-4.3. Its going on several hours of going up and down with the voltage slight amounts and even going up and down from 4.8-5.0 in the bios and im all out of ideas! Thank you guys so much ill attach my bios screen shots as well as the first 15 seconds when it runs 5.0. I finally got my first PC build to work (had some problems with my previous mobo you can read my previous post for more about that ) and now would like to overclock my CPU a tiny bit. Currently with no OC just using QuickCPU I am getting an all-core speed of around 4638MHz at around 1V and with core temps of around 34°C with one core usually at 35°C 60% of the time and at 34°C 40% of the time while the rest go down to 33°C from time to time but mostly stay at 34°C. I was wondering if anyone could recommend me like what core multiplier I should try out and what kinds of settings should I use. Current specs MPG Z390 GAMING PLUS Intel I5-9600k 2x8GB 3600mhz G.SKILL ram Chieftec 700W ATX-PSU GTX 1060 6GB ( Currently planning on getting a RTX 2080 )

Hello, Here is my share from a friend that does alote benchmarks for some german magazine, he kindly gave me his excel of 16 games with alote CPUs, since I´m building a new PC, I selected only 8 games and 3 CPUs with a combo of 1 Nvidia and 1 AMD. Its a comon combo for a CPU range price in 140 to 320€ (not sure how much is in $). System was testes in professional way, trust me. I had the work to select and creat with excel this graph table. Hope u enjoy! 1080p on Ultra = BLUE 1440p on Ultra = Orange

I bought some thermal grizzly conductonaught for my GTX1080ti FE and after opening it up and finding that the factory thermal compound job was horrible on it with more than a third of the die having never had any paste on it, after using the liquid metal my temps dropped a solid 20 degrees celcius across the board which I am stoked about. Since I have plenty left I was considering putting some on my i5 9600k which I use a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler on with the included thermal compound. I havent found any concrete answers but from doing some reading it looks like both the surfaces that make contact on the CPU and cooler are both nickel plated so I think I should be fine since no aluminium is making contact. But I thought i'd ask anyway just to make sure and also to get some tips/opinions/experiences using liquid metal and what kind of temp drops you guys have seen, if any at all. TLDR; Is it safe to liquid metal on i5 9600k with Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4? Have you used thermal grizzly conductonaught? How'd it go?

Hey guys! This is my first on this forum Happy to be here! I am planning on buying my first pc, and i need help with choosing which air cooler i should buy. I am too afraid of water cooling so i am going to stick with air cooling. As mention in the title i plan on overclocking my cpu(i5 9600k) to 4.4 ghz or higher. I was wondering on which air cooler i should buy. It should’t be too expensive(mid ranged maybe) as well as being able to cool my cpu, having good thermals. I was planning on buying the Cooler master hyper 212 rgb black edition, but i don’t exactly know how well it will perform. I also have my eyes on Be Quiet Dark Rock 4. Thanks for helping me! Here are my parts: Motherboard: gigabyte z390 aorus elite Cpu: i5 9600k Gpu: Msi 1660ti gaming x Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8G 3000 mhz Case: NZXT H500 PSU: Corsair TXM 650w

9600K CPU solder reliability/prefomrance
Sharpman85 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi All, I want to buy a 9600K for my gaming PC, but I have been somewhat concerned about the CPU solder reliability for some time after reading this article: https://overclocking.guide/the-truth-about-cpu-soldering/ . I know it's an old one, but it's still physics and the die size is smaller than Ryzen, so the latter may be less susseptible to that kind of damage. I may be over exagerating, but as I intend to use it for 4+ years I want to know the opinion of more knowledgable and experienced people. What do you think? Is it a valid concern and I should get a 8600K with thermal paste? I would like the clock speeds of the 9600K though and I do not want to delid. Or maybe get a 9700 non-K and also forget about it entirely? PS. I do not intend to overclock, maybe after 3 years, but I will see how it performs, but that's unlikely as I want to play only on 60 fps.- 15 replies

I’m wondering what kind of performance gains I’d see in gaming if I upgraded my i5 9600k to an i9 9900k and a higher end mobo to go with it. Specifically what realistic difference would I notice in terms of FPS and even overall desktop use. Any and all differences I might see are worth noting, if you have gone down a similar path or have experience in this area let me know what you think. My whole build for reference: MSI MAG Z390 Tomahawk ASUS GTX1080ti FE PCB fitted to a MSI Corsair Hydro X AIO Hybrid watercooling shroud i5 9600k 16GB DDR4 3000MHz RAM Corsair TX850M PSU Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU Cooler Adata XPG SX8200 Pro NVMe M.2 1TB Crucial NVMe M.2 1TB Phanteks Eclipse P600S Be Quiet! Angel Wings Case Fans AOC Curved 2560x1440p 144hz 1ms on G-Sync Monitor Corsair Ironclaw RGB Mouse Razer Deathstalker RGB Keyboard Logitech G930 Headset Logitech Z623 Desk Speakers *Update* I know this probably warrants a new post but I thought I may as well just add it in. Would it be worth getting a 2080ti with this build or would I have to upgrade cpu, mobo and ram to get its worth out of it?

I’m having a PC built and I’ve had to wait for a very long time to get a good gaming pc. I read a lot to inform myself going from almost zero knowledge on this topic and I’m putting almost all the money I got into this. So what do you guys think, is the i5 9600K with an Asus RTX 2080 dual oc 8Gb and 16Gb RAM a good PC, exclusively for gaming? I’m planning to use it to plug it to a 46” tv I bought trough HDMI cable to play my games like that, I think the tv is 1080p and 60 hz (dunno if that’s actually good or bad). Is it a good investment for the future as well, as in will it allow me to play new games in the coming day 10 years?

Hi everyone! My name is Axel and I'm new to the forum. I've been watching Linus on YT for long. Recently I bought some upgrades for my old PC (3 years old). CPU : i5 9600k RAM : HyperX Predator 3200MHz 2x8GB Mother Board : Asus ROG Strix Z390-F Case : Deepcool RBG ------- I left my old stuff inside (good conditions) GPU : ROG Strix 1070 OG PSU : Corsair 650watt (I know is pretty low but I will update it asap) SSD : Samsung 850 evo (windows only) HD : Toshiba 3TB (steam and other programs are there) AIR Cooler by Cooler Master GTS V8 and other coolers. ------- I installed everything right and updated everything, was working greatly, flashed BIOS after updates, streaming greatly as well, than 4 days after while I was playing Borderlands 2 (without streaming), I got to a point where is automaticly saved and my PC freezed for few seconds and rebooted, than Blue Screen of death, everytime that it rebooted there were new error. So I removed RAM, GPU, HD and tried to boot the PC with every peace one by one, nothing. I've asked to send me new mother board, same as previews one, I installed everything, than flashed BIOS as ASUS recomend before installing WINDOWS, when I try to instal Windows, I see the Window's logo than BLUE SCREEN OF THE DEATH. Any one have any advice or got the same problem? I took it to assistance, they tried to boot it with an SSD with installed Windows, changed RAM, tried a NMVE M.2 disabling Sata, still nothing. Might be CPU? Actually I can't show you any pictures because I removed everything and give it back to amazon. I want to rebuy same parts, but I'm scared to do it. Please help me! With love and respect, Axel!

I'm confused right now. I'm browsing the net as usual and I hear my cpu fan turned off, I then opened HWMonitor, it showed a blank screen for a couple of seconds and then the fan turned back on as well as the monitor program. I'm very confused as to why this might happen, never in my life I have experienced something like this. I'm currently monitoring all the sensors and will try to see what it is. I've checked every bios setting that might be the cause of this, no idea, is this some kind of power saving mode? I don't have any fan software that might affect this, all controlled by bios and there aren't any power saving options. Hi guys i hope someone of you have a better knowledge with overclocking than me and my friends.Yesterday I bought the i5 9600k and motherboard msi z390 a pro i put the macho rev b coller(Everything i bought new) to it and i oc it to 4.8 with 1.185v, and almost everyone of my friends telling me this voltage is to low and it will kill my cpu.And i have hard dilemma cuz i know if the voltage is lower thats means the cpu temps are lower to so how it can harm my cpu?.I tested it with 1,5h prime95 and its max 75 degrees. In games like bf5,apex,total war three kingdom its max 65 degrees It is ok?If not tell me why and please suggest new oc setings..

Hi So I've been needing a new CPU for a while so now it's time to do so. I've been going between the i5 9600k, Ryzen 2700x, 2700 (Non-X) and the i7 8700, but I seriously cannot decide. My current pc specs are: i5 6400 2.7GHz Asus b150m-a GTX 1060 6gb 16gb ddr4 2133MHz 500w power supply And since my power button on my case broke a little while ago, I need a new case. I mostly play PUBG, BF5 and a little CS:GO here and there. So a total budget of around 800 dollars for a new CPU, motherboard, case and if needed CPU cooler, nothing has been decided so please help a brother out :D Great day!
