Hello! So I have a couple of questions about these 2 processors I have. On the pins of the i5 a very young cousin drew with a black marker and I've tried cleaning it with a brush and alcohol and in the pictures(1 and 2) is the result after cleaning. Do you think I could put this in a motherboard and chances of it working? I got a PC for free and it has an i3 second gen and I don't want to fry up the motherboard or something worse. The i7 has a missing component on the back(capacitor I think but I am not sure) that you can hopefully see in picture 3. Does that prevent it from working? Should I try testing it with the PC I got or maybe I should just avoid it in case it screws with something like the motherboard and kills it? Basically I have these CPUs and I would like to put one of them in to upgrade the PC and sell it for very cheap to someone who doesn't have a PC, but with the i3 is a little slow so I would like to have the i5 or preferably the i7 to boost the performance for home/office use. any of you guys can help me i am planning on making a hackintosh build mainly for music production but on my old spare pc at home i just want to know what could be the problems that i might encounter on doing the hack also want to make sure if the hack would work or not. So I recently reinstalled Garry's Mod after not playing it for at least a year and I knew I could and can run it with absolutely no problems whatsoever. I installed it aaaaand nothing. I did some research and tried -dxlevel 81. Nothing. I also tried -dxlevel 90 and 95. I tried launching it in windowed mode, I heard a sound effect but stopped responding when I clicked the screen which was still black. I tried a couple other launch options for force loading and something else and nothing worked. I validated the local files and I reinstalled it. Nothing works and I REALLY want to play it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone, I am helping a friend with a tight budget computer. He wants to buy a cheap refurb computer with a i5 2400 and 8gb of ram. I found a lenovo m91p with a %85 plus efficiency psu with only 280w is that enough for a gtx 750 ti? I cant fit a psu into his budget. Hello, I've been looking into building a budget gaming pc and I've seen alot of people using an Intel core i5 2400 with a Gtx 1050 ti and I was curious wether or not there would be any bottlenecking? I'm new to pc buildingand have made a few mistakes already so I want to make sure my main plan is sound before I do anything else.

windows 10 store is not letting me install the game forza 6 apex when i click "get" it comes up with another window saying this: Forza Motorsport 6: Apex $0.00 Subject to the Microsoft Services Agreement. below that it has a "cancel" and a "get" but the "get" is greyed out stopping me from installing the game i have a gtx 780 3gb, an i5 2400, 8gbs ram and 80gbs of available storage what am i doing wrong?

Im planning to build a PC for my little brother. I am only buying 2nd hand parts. What I saw that can fit my budget was this: Processor: intel core i5 2400 GPU: GTX 950 RAM: Kingston 8Gb DDR3 MOBO: Dell M1H61R MB PSU: 500 watt Thermaltake HDD: 500 GB seagate is this build good enough to run CSGO, PUBG and Dota 2? if you guys can tell me a better build within a 400$ budget it would be helpful thanks

first of all, please answer seriously. i've got a 3220 in my pc r8 now paired with a gtx 1060 3gb (zotac mini). i use my pc for gaming (around 40-110 fps on many of latest games on high/ultra settings, with my 1366x768 monitor) and 3d arts/rendering and programming and a little file hosting server over wifi. i found a deal of i5 2400 refurbished edition for INR 5700 (approx. $90) at ebay.in. i'm asking if its worth it to "upgrade" my processor for "previous gen". and PLEASE DON'T USE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR MOCKING. -
Hello I am planning on building a gaming pc for as close to 500 USD as I can. I am getting overwhelmed trying to figure out what motherboard I should get because there are so many options and features. I am going with DDR3 and I'd like USB 3.0 if possible. I am thinking of buying a gtx 1050ti mini zotac edition. But let me tell you my system config first. Could any of you suggest whether this graphics card will perform greatly with my current PC components? Hello, I am working on a my first build and I've ran into a little hiccup. I am planning on using a gtx 1050ti and a core i5 2400 processor. I bought a lenovo thinkcentre m71e on ebay that had the I5 a motherboard and 8 gigs of ram. However when I purchased it I didn't realize that the motherboard only had a pcie x8 slot. Will a gtx 1050ti work in this slot or should I get a new motherboard? Also if it will work is there going to be a performance dip?

Today My gtx 950 broke so I got an offer to get a gtx 960 instead of another 950 as none was in stock. And I'm wondering if my i5 2400 and gtx 960 ssc 2gb would be able to run some new games like battlefield 1 and gta v. I'm planning to play these on medium and high . And I'm planing to get a i5 4690k in a few months would this be an future upgrade worth it ? Thank you

I am currently running windows 7 ultimate ,but support will end and I care about my security and files . (I have a windows 10 skin for windows 7 whould I keep it ? ) Thanks in advance !

So i just ordered a rx 570 4gb and im worried about my old cpu i5 2400... i was wondering if those two components go well together or will i experience stuttering and a huge bottleneck? I will upgrade my cpu as soon as i can bit for now thats how it will be.., what do you guys think ?

First of all, thank you for opening this topic to check it out.. I'm normally the guy that deals with the tech stuff alone but this time it's different, I can't figure it out. I'm unable to find the exact version of my motherboard, and therefore I cant update the bios for it to accept my new cpu. I've checked almost every variation of my motherboard on the asus websiete but in the downloadable "user manual" it never showed me the exact board I'm using. The specific thing I'm going on about is that I have 3x Sata 3gb Connections and 1x Sata 6gb connection. Almost 90% of the boards I checked the manuals of had Sata 3gb x4 , none of 3 of (3gb) and 1 of (6gb) So I never could find the exact bios to update the board, and I'm in a real dead-end here. I currently use a i5 2400 cpu, and in a few days I'll be getting a i7 3770, It's the same LGA 1155 socket, but I'm afraid if it'll work for me without a updated bios, as in the cpuZ , it shows the bios version was last updated 2011 -ish... and the i7 3770 was released a year or 2 later.. I don't know if my board will be damaged if I use the same socket CPU but it not being compatable, I'm really .. just lost.. I have no idea what I should do.. Some versions of my motherboard support 8gb of ram , some 16gb. Some support 2nd Gen i3 i5 i7 & 3rd Gen i3 i5 i7 ... I just really really need some help this time ... I can't do this on my own. My really old motherboard is just.. a real problem I guess. The information about my system I took snips and uploaded them as images. I'll check the topic frequently, multiple times a day... and if you decide to help me, thank you from the bottom of my heart, because I truely am really lost and confused on what might happen if my cpu and motherboard are same socket but not compatible due to the old bios version. If you can help in any way... please do , I would really really appericiate it.. And thank you again..

Hi all i was wondering if i upgrade from my i5 2400 to i7 2600k non oc if that will be a good combination with gtx 1050 ti ? My mobo only supports 2gen cpus sadly... also will i be able to play all games ?

A few days back, I decided to upgrade an old Acer Veriton m6610 to Windows 10. As well as adding a used GTX 960 2gb, to maybe use it for gaming here and there. Immediately after the upgrade, as well as a restart, checked Task Manager to see if everything seemed well for the i5 2400. This was when I saw the 100% CPU usage. Curiously though, I wasn't experiencing slowdowns anywhere, so I decided to check how much CPU usage HWMonitor would report, and to my surprise HWMonitor was showing CPU usage on any of the cores to be 0-15%. I've combed over some other forums' answers on lowering CPU usage after an upgrade to WIN 10, but none has worked so far (at least for Task manager to not show 100% all the time). Changing startup programs around, Windows Clean boot/startup, uninstalling - reinstalling drivers and applications, disabling some services (reenabled them after since they showed no difference). Spec Sheet - All the programs were installed on the system when it was still Windows 7, and Task Manager would report CPU usage to be at 1-3% during idle then. - The program with the highest CPU usage isn't always the same, it changes from anything to anything (System services, Open programs, Antivirus, NVIDIA suff, anything). Any recommendations on lowering the CPU usage, or ideas on why Task manager is saying it is on 100%?

So I have the i5 2400 with the stock cooler, and I want to upgrade to the i7 2700k, is it s good idea to use the same cooler on the i7 2700k? I need a answer quickly so if you see this please answer

its really hot now and its about 30c in my room and i have no ac, when i game on my i5 2400 the temps go up to 90c, i am using a small rosewill case with only one fan and my case side panel is open, if i wanna keep it under 80c while gaming i have to take my actual big fan and put it up against my pc lmao, i just wanna know if its ok that my i5 2400 is at 90 while gaming and while my room is 30c

I was planing to buy a second pc for streaming and an elgato capture card... But will an old i5 2400 be enough just for streaming and thats it... I dont want my main gaming pc to be affected by cpu useage so i decided to do it like this but i am not shure if it is gonna be enough considering an old sandy bridge arch. is almost 7 y old... BTW i am on a budget so pls dont say stuff like buy ryzen 5 1600 or i7 8700k... even an i7 2600 is out of my budget.... if you have a cheap CPU that can handle it better fell free to say... any suggestion will help...so to say it again it will only stream and nothing else... no other cpu intens apps will be running...

Hey all, So I recently purchased a dell optiplex 790 SFF for pretty cheap The specs are: - i5 2400 - 8gb DDR3 1333Mhz RAM - 500gb HDD 7200 RPM - 240w Power Supply Say I was to have a budget of around $100 USD - Would a GT 1030 be the best option considering I'm limited by the PSU & Case? (This motherboard won't fit in your typical ATX or mATX case)
