I was thinking about getting Manjaro XFCE for my low end laptop to game, but then saw some posts talking about it being buggy?!. I really do not mind how it looks or how easy it is to setup. I kinda like the long setup process anyway. If all I cared about was performance and stability, do you think I should go with Arch instead of Manjaro? If yes, is XFCE perfectly fine or should I mess around with i3 or KDE?

Budget (including currency): $1000 (Preferably lower) Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, Roblox, Programing, AI and ML stuff Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9Ln9BL Should I use a i3 14100F instead? Also the 3080, i am planning to get it from ebay for around 300 dollars! Any other Tips?

Hi, I'm currently speccing out a budget laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 3) on top of my desktop for some studies abroad, I'll be doing some web browsing, video playback, word-editing & Excel, and some relatively light database management (Access) and QGIS/ ArcGIS workloads. I'm torn between the i5-12450H and the i3-1215U. Both would come with 16GB of RAM (5800 Mhz DDR5 for the first, and 3200Mhz DDR4 for the latter). I haven't found many reliable performance comparatives online. The i3 system is 70 bucks cheaper and comes with a better battery. Is the i3 a good choice? Or will I notice enough of a performance difference to justify shelling out for the i5 instead? Thanks

Budget (including currency): £600 - £650 Country: UK, England Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: VR Gaming (Beat Saber, Gorilla tag, ect), Light Streaming and Light Video Editing PC Part Picker List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/jZsm89 I've been putting a part picker list together but can't decide between the Intel Core i5-12400F or Intel Core i3-13100 (being almost the same price i've found). The only reason I'm considering the Core i3-13100 is because it's 13th gen along with the integrated graphics just in case of some need for it (dead GPU far down the line maybe?), I'm not sure if the extra cores on the i5 would benefit me much or if the slightly higher Clock Speed on the i3 would be better, either way any of them would be better than the i3-1005G1 I'm using now... Thanks for any help in advance!

Budget (including currency): 850 EUR (900.88$) Country: Montenegro (In Eurozone, but not in EU yet) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Classic work (Excel, Illustrator, Word, …), Civilization 6, CS:GO, Crusader Kings 3, Forza Horizon 4/5, Kerbal Space Program 2, OW2, HUMANKIND Other details Now I want to build a new PC but maybe keep the Case and SSDs (SHOULD I?), IDKN about keeping the RAM. So I found 2 builds that I can get, both based around i3-12100F. I need the PC for normal work and gaming on the weekend, nothing insane just want 60+fps on 1080p with high settings. I mean my current PC can run almost every game on low-medium 1080p with stable 30+fps, but I think it's time for an upgrade. I currently have the following: CPU: i5-7500k GPU: Asus Strix 950Ti 2XOC MOBO: Gigabyte Gaming 3 H270 rev. 1.0 RAM: KINGSTON Fury DDR4 8GB 2400Mhz (X2) SSD: SAMSUNG EVO 850 250GB, KINGSTON A400 960GB PSU: 1000W IBM Server PSU I got from a friend CASE: Tempered glass and aluminium MOUSE: Razer Diamondback KEYBOARDS: Asus Strix Tactic Pro Cheery MX Brown, MS ELITE C521 HEADSETS: Razer Kraken V2, HyperX Cloud II Gunmetal, Logitech Artemis Spectrum G933 -------------------------------------- Websites I used to choose parts (I can order stuff online from ebay/amazon... only if it's under 75$ because over that I have to pay tax of 21%): https://www.multicom.me/ https://pc-gamer.me/ 2 combos I fashioned up that I like with prices

Budget (including currency): $500 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Warzone, Cyberpunk 2077, AC Valhalla, Video editing. Other details I also just bought a Aorus B550 elite V2 so hopefully it all works. I still have a few days to return them if not there was just a really good sale and I had to jump on it. I want to upgrade my GPU and power supply (power supply first bc its a white and I was just told it could fry my system even though its a 750W) I want to play games at 120fps or higher. My question I guess is should I wait to install my new parts until I can get a GPU or should I put the new MOBO and CPU in now? P.S. The power supply I'm going to buy is the Corsair RMx (2018) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply. Just incase that mattered to anyone.

The title is pretty self explanatory, but this build is for my friend, and the i3 12100F is the one of the best bang-for-ya-buck Alder Lake CPU, so I want to know if it will bottleneck a good value, RX 6600? The 6600 I’m looking at is this one: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/M9ytt6/msi-radeon-rx-6600-8-gb-mech-2x-video-card-rx-6600-mech-2x-8g Will the bottleneck be too big?

Hi, so I'm making an new pc and I'm gona use it for indie game dev, and some casual low- mid level gaming. I have a limited budget tho. I am confused wether to get a i3 10th (10100f 4 core 8 thread) and a Quadro T600 (only available in budget) or wether i should get a 5600g and buy a GPU a year or 2 later. Also, pls don't waste your time suggesting the rtx 3050 bcz it's obviously not gonna sell for 250 or even less than 300 bucks. Thanks in advance.

Hey there. I was wondering if an Intel Core i3 11th Gen is an ok enough processor for Windows 10/11, or on a laptop. It’s i3 11th Gen MOBILE I should clarify. There are many laptops with an i3 11th Gen on them and they reviews with, “Best Beginner Laptop.” Is an i3 good enough for, gaming, watching videos, website-looking, (idk what the word is) etc? Thanks for the help!

My original plan was to actually use a Ryzen 5 3500x for my RX570 4gb. But someone on Reddit told me that I should use an i5 11400f, so I went to see online and saw i3 10105F on sale for $115 cheaper instead and I checked the benchmark and it's seems that both i3 10105F and the Ryzen 5 3500x only had a slight difference, with a huge price gap. Should I go for Intel i3? Or should I listen to the Reddit guy and use the i5 11400F for my build? Also what are the best budget (that's also future proof) mobo and ram combination for the 11th generation Intel CPUs?

I'm definitely running a i3-4150, this might explain my recent issues. Edit: My Device manager says it IS the 4150.

THIS WILL BE A QUITE LONG...BUT IT IS AN EMERGENCY AND I CANNOT BUY NEW PARTS WITH THE CURRENT LOCKDOWN IN MY REGION I recently overclocked my really old pc with a i3-540 and a INTEL dhc-55tc mobo (i dont have a graphics card) I considered that my pc was stable at 4.2GHZ (stock 3.07ghz) after running a stress test for 7 hours and did not crash and the temps were around 80C at 100% usage the whole 7 hours of the stress test...so i decided to push it further...a little by little with my mobo i was only able to adjust the BASE CLOCK FREQUENCY (stock is 133mhz...changed that to 183mhz to get 4.2ghz) and the worse part is changing the base clock freq. of my CPU also changes the base clock of my RAM(both my cpu and ram have same BCLKs 133mhz) and my RAM is not able to get speeds more than 1400mhz (4GB DDR3 1333MHZ) . But my mobo allowed the multiplier and voltage control for my ram alone...so i decided to reduce the multiplier of the ram to have its speed under 1400mhz.. now after doing the 4.2ghz of the cpu and setting my ram's multiplier to 8 (STOCK IS 10) my pc was stable with a cinebench R23 score around 2100 i decided to push it further and increased my BCLK value from 183 to 184 and then saved it...here is where my pc got bricked I suppose....my pc just turned off right there and refuses to turn on WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING?(either one of these 3 things happen when i try to turn my pc on) 1.all the fans of my pc starts and runs for 3 seconds then stops (no posting and no beeps)(this goes on in an endless loop)(THIS HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME)(the cpu gets warm...a little too warm for comfort of touching the cpu) 2.all the fans turn on for a while , run for a while then shuts itself down (no posting and no beeps) 3.all the fans turn on , the INTEL SCREEN WITH THE PRESS F2 TO ENTER BIOS comes then freezes (bios does not open) , stays frozen for a while the turns off (posted but froze...no beeps) WHAT I TRIED DOING ? i unplugged my ODD,HDD and all the external storages from my PC and tried these 1.I tried removing the CMOS battery ,left the pc unplugged for a day then tried to turn it on (first without the battery fitted then with the battery fitted)(tried this many times) 2.I tried removing the RAM then putting it another slot then tried to boot up 3.I tried removing the RAM totally then tried to boot up (RAM ERROR BEEP CAME) 4,I tried removing the CPU then tried to boot up (nothing happened)(i know i am DUMB) 5.there is no BIOS RESET button in my mobo none of the above worked all those capacitors in the back of the CPU look good (not blown) , no capacitors in the mobo are blown or the pins in the socket are bent , no capacitors in the socket are blown, nothing seems to look wrong in the RAM,the power box is in good condition and i dont have a GRAPHICS CARD what can i do to make it alright again? EDIT : I DISCHARGED THE PC BY REMOVING THE CMOS BATTERY AND UNPLUGGING IT AND LEAVING IT FOR A DAY UNPLUGGED THAT DID NOT SEEM TO HELP IN ANY WAY

i have a acer spin 3 2020 with an i3 1005g1 and 8gb of ram. my issue is every time i play minecraft it crashes the whole windows os and freezes it and i cant control alt delete or anything, the only way for me to unfreeze it is by turning it off and back on. i already contacted acer about it and sent it in but all they did was download the drivers again and send it back and it still crashed. so i have since contacted them again and i am gonna send it back but i was just wondering if anyone has an idea on what could be causing these crashes. thanks!

Hi, I want to upgrade my PC CPU for online school and just light gaming on a low budget. I want to upgrade it from Pentium to Core i3. My motherboard is LGA 1150 socket with H81 Chipset. After I searched the online store I got 2 choices. i3 4170 3.7GHz with 3MB cache and i3 4330 3.5GHz with 4MB Intel® Smart Cache. Should I choose i3 4170 0.2Ghz higher frequency and Integrated Graphics Intel® HD Graphics 4400 or i3 4330 with 1MB larger Cache and Integrated Graphics Intel® HD Graphics 4600? The price of these two CPUs is the same, which is $41.55 (Convert from IDR 600,000 to Dollar) Sorry, I'm new user in Linus Tech Tips and newbie in PC Components Specifications of the 2 CPUs Above (Source ark.intel.com) [i3 4170] https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/77490/intel-core-i3-4170-processor-3m-cache-3-70-ghz.html CPU Specifications # of Cores 2 # of Threads 4 Processor Base Frequency 3.70 GHz Cache 3 MB Bus Speed 5 GT/s TDP 54 W Supplemental Information Embedded Options Available No Datasheet View now Memory Specifications Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 32 GB Memory Types DDR3-1333/1600, DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.5V Max # of Memory Channels 2 Max Memory Bandwidth 25.6 GB/s ECC Memory Supported ‡ Yes Processor Graphics Processor Graphics ‡ Intel® HD Graphics 4400 Graphics Base Frequency 350 MHz Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency 1.15 GHz Graphics Video Max Memory 2 GB Graphics Output eDP/DP/HDMI/DVI/VGA Max Resolution (HDMI)‡ 4096x2304@24Hz Max Resolution (DP)‡ 3840x2160@60Hz Max Resolution (eDP - Integrated Flat Panel)‡ 3840x2160@60Hz Max Resolution (VGA)‡ 1920x1200@60Hz DirectX* Support 11.1/12 OpenGL* Support 4.3 Intel® Quick Sync Video Yes Intel® InTru™ 3D Technology Yes Intel® Clear Video HD Technology Yes # of Displays Supported ‡ 3 Device ID 0x41E Expansion Options Scalability 1S Only PCI Express Revision Up to 3.0 PCI Express Configurations ‡ Up to 1x16, 2x8, 1x8+2x4 Max # of PCI Express Lanes 16 Package Specifications Sockets Supported FCLGA1150 Max CPU Configuration 1 Thermal Solution Specification PCG 2013C TCASE 72°C Package Size 37.5mm x 37.5mm Advanced Technologies Intel® Turbo Boost Technology ‡ No Intel vPro® Platform Eligibility ‡ No Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology ‡ Yes Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x) ‡ Yes Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) ‡ No Intel® VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT) ‡ Yes Intel® Transactional Synchronization Extensions No Intel® 64 ‡ Yes Instruction Set 64-bit Instruction Set Extensions Intel® SSE4.1, Intel® SSE4.2, Intel® AVX2 Idle States Yes Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology Yes Thermal Monitoring Technologies Yes Intel® Stable Image Platform Program (SIPP) No Security & Reliability Intel® AES New Instructions Yes Secure Key Yes Intel® Trusted Execution Technology ‡ No Execute Disable Bit ‡ Yes [i3 4330] https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/77769/intel-core-i3-4330-processor-4m-cache-3-50-ghz.html CPU Specifications # of Cores 2 # of Threads 4 Processor Base Frequency 3.50 GHz Cache 4 MB Intel® Smart Cache Bus Speed 5 GT/s TDP 54 W Supplemental Information Embedded Options Available Yes Datasheet View now Memory Specifications Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 32 GB Memory Types DDR3-1333/1600, DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.5V Max # of Memory Channels 2 Max Memory Bandwidth 25.6 GB/s ECC Memory Supported ‡ Yes Processor Graphics Processor Graphics ‡ Intel® HD Graphics 4600 Graphics Base Frequency 350 MHz Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency 1.15 GHz Graphics Video Max Memory 2 GB Graphics Output eDP/DP/HDMI/DVI/VGA Max Resolution (HDMI)‡ 4096x2304@24Hz Max Resolution (DP)‡ 3840x2160@60Hz Max Resolution (eDP - Integrated Flat Panel)‡ 3840x2160@60Hz Max Resolution (VGA)‡ 1920x1200@60Hz DirectX* Support 11.1/12 OpenGL* Support 4.3 Intel® Quick Sync Video Yes Intel® InTru™ 3D Technology Yes Intel® Clear Video HD Technology Yes # of Displays Supported ‡ 3 Device ID 0x412 Expansion Options Scalability 1S Only PCI Express Revision Up to 3.0 PCI Express Configurations ‡ Up to 1x16, 2x8, 1x8+2x4 Max # of PCI Express Lanes 16 Package Specifications Sockets Supported FCLGA1150 Max CPU Configuration 1 Thermal Solution Specification PCG 2013C TCASE 66.8°C Package Size 37.5mm x 37.5mm Advanced Technologies Intel® Turbo Boost Technology ‡ No Intel vPro® Platform Eligibility ‡ No Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology ‡ Yes Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x) ‡ Yes Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) ‡ No Intel® VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT) ‡ Yes Intel® Transactional Synchronization Extensions No Intel® 64 ‡ Yes Instruction Set 64-bit Instruction Set Extensions Intel® SSE4.1, Intel® SSE4.2, Intel® AVX2 Idle States Yes Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology Yes Thermal Monitoring Technologies Yes Intel® Stable Image Platform Program (SIPP) No Security & Reliability Intel® AES New Instructions Yes Intel® Trusted Execution Technology ‡ No Execute Disable Bit ‡ Yes

Hi all, I am looking to build a budget gaming pc. Should i go with H410 Mother board (or) Not. I wanted to understand why H410 was not suggested in many forums, I am going to use only one PCIe slot that's for Graphics card so that might not be a deal breaker for me. My requirements - 1080p 60 FPS (I am not going to perform any overclocking ) Refer the price details of the various combinations below (In my country - India - Price as per today) i310100 (100$) + MSI H410M Pro VH (75$) i310100 (100$) + MSI B460M MORTAR (125$) Ryzen3 3100 - Out of stock Ryzen3 3300X (200$) + MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX (150$) Ryzen3 3300X (200$) + ASUS PRIME-B450M-K (98$) - Also BIOS update is another issue which needs to be dealt with Note - I already have a 650W Seasonic Power supply, MSI RX 570 8GB Graphics card, Cabinet, 512 GB SSD & 1 TB HDD.

Hi I've installed a 212 led evo on a b365 pro 4 with an i3-9100f. Everything went fine into posting, but I noticed my bios is giving me a 38°-40° celsius temp for my cpu, my room is around 20°c and the 212 led si spinning at 700/800rpm is that normal? I've not tightned too much the cooler do I need to tight more the screws? Maybe too much thermal paste? Thank you

who knows how to do it in the simplest way so i wont get sued by intel

My cpu temperature is in between 69°C-74°C (not going over 75°C) while playing Rainbow Six Siege. Cpu usage is 70%-80% while the gpu usage is 100%. Is this cpu temperature normal with intel stock cooler? specs are - i3-10100 10th gen with stock cooler, GT 1030 and 2x8gb 2400mhz ram.
