I've an i3 4150 in my current pc with no gpu (been on intel hd 4400 for 3 years now ) and i was hopping to upgrade to either a gtx 1060 or 1050ti but after watching the performance of gtx 1060(even the 3GB) i'm kinda inclined towards the 1060 but i guess it wouldn't make a great pair with the i3. I really can either upgrade to an i5 or buy a gpu. Will The Bottleneck from the CPU side a big bump in performance?Please recommend.And yes i might game at 900p or 1080p

To bottleneck or to not bottleneck? I'm a noob with diagnosing GPU/CPU related problems. Problem is, I've never owned a GPU strong enough to make me question my (crappy?) CPU that may not be powering it. I'm having an issue with my setup (i3-4150 w/ EVGA 970 FTW). I know that this low end dual core isn't technically enough for it when you look at the specs, hence the reason why I have money saved up for an i5-4690k just in case that's the issue. In Valley Benchmark, my CPU sits at around 50% usage and my GPU has no problem with hitting the 100% mark @ 52 degrees for 5 mins of testing. When I'm in a game however, my i3 is in the 85-100% usage, with my 970 only hitting 60% max. I've only tested this in games where the 970 is usually below 100fps: GTA 5 and Fallout 4 with v-sync off. Obviously, it results in terrible performance (compared to what I was expecting after paying $520cdn). Based on those numbers in those situations, I think it's a bottleneck issue but I need a second or tenth opinion because I've seen some threads of 970's that have usage problems due to hardware failures. Hoping this isn't the case. Sorry for the essay but I figure more is better. So i found a decent gtx 770 for sale and was wondering if my cpu will severely bottleneck it or not i have been told it wont but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks, Modi

I'm talking about an i3-4150. My friend and I built extremely similar PC's together. Mine mainly has an i3-4150 and an R9 280x. His an i3-4150 and an R9 290. We noticed that I often got better performance than him on games even on a slightly-inferior card. It may be worth noting that I'm running some form of Windows 7 and that he is running Windows Server 2012 R2. Any and all answers are appreciated. Thanks!

Before I do some of the fun stuff.. I have a few questions. You can clock down a locked CPU, just not up via ratio. I put my Ratio from 35 to 15. I have a concern that too much power will be going to the cpu? And is running it soo low safe? -Rest of post will come once first question is answered.- I have a i3-4150. So you will laugh at what CPU-Z shows. No, I don't have any ROG Parts, I only have the ROG cpu-z skin because its cool. It says I5-4690. And the specification section just shows the exact model of my i3 however , and 3.5ghz is part of the model, even tho it isn't at 3.5ghz And it says core speed is only at .8ghz cuz of low load I'm guessing.

Hi, I built my friend a computer with an i3-4150 and a Gigabyte B85M Gaming 3 Motherboard and while trying to render in Adobe Premiere the CPU is not being fully utilized and all four logical cores are only reaching about 50% usage. I need help, ASAP.

Hey guys i was just wondering if you could give me some advise on these build ideas. This is my first build so I dont know a huge amount. With the x4 860k and g3258 I could get a r9 270 but if i went for i3-4150 I would have to get an r7 260x. The pc would be used for fairly light gaming (Fifa 15 and Payday2) and I would to max out these games at 720p and (hopefully) at 1080p. However it also needs to run 5-10 tabs at once and be used for emails, office and social media. Any tips or build suggestions would be great. Hi guys, first time builder here. TL;DR: Red text. I have my build mostly planned, except for the CPU. After posting in www.reddit.com/r/buildapc I was advised to get a G3258 and overclock it instead of getting the more expensive and non-overclockable i3-4150. Obviously since this is my first build, I have never overclocked a CPU or GPU before. I have some concerns about it. First off, as this is a budget build, I will not be buying an aftermarket CPU cooler and will just be using the stock coolers for the case, CPU and GPU. I am aware that overclocking can result in high temperatures, which is usually offset by an extra cooler but if I can I want to avoid paying for extra cooling. My question here is: Can I overclock the G3258 to at least 3.8GHz with only the stock cooler? Secondly, I have some actual concerns about the H81M-PLUS motherboard and it's overclocking capabilities. I have read in some places that in order to overclock the G3258 with this motherboard I will need to "flash the BIOS". I'm not really sure what this is, I could learn about it online but I want to learn if it's necessary first. Can anyone tell me what I need to look out for and prepare for to overclock the G3258 on the H81M-PLUS motherboard? Lastly, Have any of you overclocked the G3258 on the H81M-PLUS with the stock cooler? What results did you get? If any of you think I should stick with the i3-4150, sound off in the comments. So im planning on upgrading my pc from a crappy amd apu to an intel core series, I really want to go with an i5-4690k as it is unlocked , but it comes with a higher price tag then the i3-4150, I would like to know if the i5 is a definite go to. I will definitely be gaming and also some video editing/creation for youtube aswell. I also have 8gb of ram & a gtx 560ti 1gb ,which i will be upgrading hopefully soon, in case that makes any difference; My main point in considering the i3 is that it is nearly have the cost of the i5 allowing me to buy it and a new motherboard a lot sooner. Which is the best bang for buck option? I am thinking about doing a very low-budget build but have a question concerning my psu. I was wondering if a CX430 would be enough for an i3-4150 and a GTX 750 from ASUS, or if I needed a CX500. Thanks!

Hey guys! So I built my best friend Noah a pretty bad-ass PC but we've run into an issue, his i3-4150 (3.5GHz) CPU is running at .73GHz instead of 3.5GHz which is obviously a problem and when we hop into games and really anything other then web browsing we just can't do really anything. I've cleared CMOS multiple times and even went into the BIOS and reset the settings manually and I just can't seem to get it to work. Should I buy a heatpipe cooler (Cooler Master Hyper TX3) for the Intel i3-4150 (54w) or it'd work fine under heavy loads with the stock cooler? Considering that I use my PC mostly for gaming and that the temperatures in my city during summer are on average 97°F.
