Just took out a GPU out of a system. But that system now won't work. When I power it on, it just keeps on turning on then off right away. Please help. Thanks! VID_20201017_102812.mp4

so I saw this video online of a guy overclocking the same cpu I have and getting a 45% performance increase. So I restart my PC and overclock to a safe 3.9 GHz( base is 3.7). It gave me a error message so I downclocked to 3.71 Ghz. I then save and boot. the LED and fans in my case turned on then off then on the off. I turned off my powerstrip and try to boot again. same result. i have 5 year old parts so I don't know if they're ready to bust now. - I3 6100 (overclocked to 3.71GHz) - Gigabyte Z170 UD - EVGA 1060 -3gb - 970 500gb M.2 SSD -32 gb crosshair revenge pro -450w EVGA psu

Could a i3 6100 run without any discrete gpu? I currently have 2 systems. One with an i3 6100 and a 1050 mini, the other a ryzen 3200g. I am planning to put the 1050 in the system with the ryzen 3200g, but with the other pc still capable of running. Thanks!

upgrade What Should I upgrade to run forza horizon 4 smoothly
PrateekPanwar64 posted a topic in PC Gaming
I want to run forza horizon 4 smoothly without stutters. I'm confused what should I upgrade my CPU or RAM. I cannot change my motherboard right now, So I'm thinking for old used i5 6400. I get stutters even after going upto 35fps. My GPU can do 60 easily at medium settings. My specs: CPU: i3 6100 RAM: 1 x 8gb ddr4 @ 2133 mhz GPU: gtx 1050 ti Motherboard: Asus H110m - cs- 20 replies

I have a system that has a I3 6100 and a 1050 mini 2 GB with 8 GB of 2133 mhz memory. It is struggling to play games like warzone on the lowest settings possible. If I would upgrade it to a 1660 super, would it improve in gaming?

If I only get £500 of budget for my build instead of £550 (which is reasonably likely), should I get the i3 6100 and a h110 motherboard , or a FX 8300 with a 970 board and a decent cooler, pushing it to crazy high clock speeds. The rest of the build would have a Rx 480 4GB or a Rx 470 8gb and 8gbs of RAM.

hi guys i am building a budget system and i am deciding between two motherboards. asus H110-m plus and gigabyte H110-S2PV. the asus board goes for 10 dollars more both a bundle with the i3 6100. i am adding a discrete gpu as well. asus pros: -2x usb 3.1 gen 2 type a -3+3 phase vrm -hdmi cons: -not matx mounting holes and slightly shorter -usb 3 and sata on the bottom (case im getting has no bottom cut outs for bottom i/o gigabyte pros: -8 pin cpu power -sata and usb 3 on the right side -full length matx and extra slot spacing before pci 1x -fully black -matx mounting cons: -no usb 3.1 -3+1 phase vrm -no useful video outs i know some of these complaints are really minor but im not sure which board i should go with or should i wait for the kaby lake boards and or cpus to come out. i will be building this pc and the end of the month or maybe christmas. we dont have black friday deals where i live. i would appreciate some input. i am not sure as to the launch time frame for the new kaby lake cpus.

Greetings, everyone! Today I was going to buy the following computer for 650€ - CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.20GHz Quad-Core Processor - Motherboard: B150M LGA1151 - RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400Mhz - HDD: 1Tb 7200rpm SATA 3 - GPU: GTX 750Ti 2GB GDDR5 - Case: Nox Hummer MC Zero Edition - Power Supply: Tacens Mars Gaming MP600 600W However, a friend stopped me from doing it because he said he could build a better one for a cheaper price and this came out for 625€ - CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor - Motherboard: MSI H110M ECO Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard - Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory - HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB ARMOR OCV1 Video Card - Case: NOX Hummer MC Zero Edition ATX Mid Tower Case - Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply Now, my budget is at 650€ at the moment. I want to use the computer for gaming recording and video editing at 1080p. I'm not sure if I'll be playing demanding games like Witcher 3 or Battlefield 1, though I am a bit curious about these. I'll be recording some PS1 games as well as a bunch of different PC games. I'm a bit iffy about getting the i3 as the i5 would do much better regarding rendering times, however if I were to get an i5 with the 1060, I'd need to spend 710€ instead of 625€ which is a bit difficult for me. I'm planning on rendering two videos per day and will be using Adobe Premiere. My question is: How long would an i3-6100 take to render 15 minutes 1080p videos in comparision with a i5-6500? Also, is there a huge difference from 8GB to 16GB for rendering these same videos? Thank you in advance, - Nervly

So right now I have an i3 6100 with a 750 ti, im looking to upgrade the 750 ti to a 1070. Now I know that that is a huge bottleneck, but I was wondering, would that bring a hug performance bump in my system? Im probably not gonna keep that 1070, i3 6100 combo for long, after I grab the 1070 ill probably upgrade the i3 to a ryzen 7 1700x. But let me know how much more performance I will wield with this 1070

200 euro PC build I'm going to try and built a very price to performance ratio pc, now here's what I'm planning on doing and please leave your thoughts in your reply! For the CPU I'm thinking about going for an i3 6100 because in Holland you can get it for only 40 to 50 euros (the new price is about 110 euros) For a motherboard I'm getting an Msi Pro vd secondhand or a gigabyte H110M on amazon they are both about 40 euros and I'm personnaly leaning towards the gigabyte motherboard because that one is new and with motherboards I'm not so secure with secondhand options. As for ram I could get 4 GB ddr 4 from crucial for 30 to 35 euros and 8 gigabytes for 60 euros. I already have a case that I could use and also a power supply, but the psu is a bit sketchy and the case is really ugly so on amazon I'm just gonna buy some cheap case for like 17 euros orso. I'm going to upgrade the psu to like a corsair vs 450 or something similair (or cheaper), this build isn't going to consume that much power. I can get a 500 gb harddrive for free and I'll just use unactivated windows 10. The GPU I'm still not sure about but my first thoughts were to go and look for a secondhand 1050, but those are still pretty expensive, my second thoughts were to buy a secondhand gtx 950 or 960 (2gb), thos are also still way to expensive in holland. Now my budget left over for the gpu would be about 75 euros, so does anyone have an idea, please reply. Thanks for reading! Ps: the main site in Holland for secondhand parts is Marktplaats.nl

Hello! After years of playing on Xbox, I've finally wanted to upgrade to PC, and I've given a go at building one, need some help though, as I want to be sure this is ok for me: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hwqr8K My main goal is to decently run Total War Warhammer, and perhaps the Warhammer 2 as well. Also, if there is any price trimming or slight upgrades you can suggest that will still suffice, that would be TREMENDOUSLY helpful! Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I am 24. I live in my Mothers backyard. In an RV. I am a low budget, low rent gamer. An enthusiast at heart. Buying PC parts at the thrift store I am simply looking for peeps to game, learn, and advance with. PC building has become a passion of mine. Something I always thought I knew about until I finally got my hands dirty. System: Corsair 230T (Rebel Orange) Asrock z170 Fatality Gaming K4 Mobo i3 6100 (OC'd to 4.1 Ghz via BCLK method) Powercolor RX460 2gb (Slight OC via TRIXX) 8GB Corsair ValueSelect DDR4 (1066 mhz) Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD 3TB HDD Note: I realize that this is a very "unbalanced" rig. This rig is intended as my "Future Proof" or "Future-Ready" machine. I currently play everything at 1080p. I plan to upgrade to a "k" Series cpu to fully utilize my z170 board once they drop in price a bit around Zen time. (Fingers crossed) I am currently saving up for a legit GPU, this one is getting me by just fine for now. Also looking for some decent BF1/BF4 players to hook up with. (US WEST SERVERS) Anyway... i was just stopping in to say Hi. Let me know if you have any question about living in a RV in the dead of winter in your mother backyard. Or Let me know if you have any ideas for my setup (See Pictures). I am working with very limited space and built this desk into the bathroom of the RV. Happy gaming yall!

Hello all, So I was wondering, how is it possible that the i3 is debated as the best budget gaming pc CPU at around $117 USD when just around the corner there is the AMD FX 8350 for $30 extra. The FX is quad core with 4.0 ghz vs the i3 which is dual core and clocks at 3.7 so how the heck is intel better???? Thanks so much!

I couldn't find any comparisons between these two, but I was wondering how much of an improvement in games, if any, the i3 6100 would give me. My current GPU is a GTX 950 and it sits at about around 50% usage while my current CPU (5600k) is at 100% usage. Would an i3 6100 remove this bottlenecking in games like Arma 3?

So I just ordered my new RX 480 and I thought a CPU upgrade would be a good thing. I really don't have the money for a 6600k, so I thoght I might get the 6100 now and upgrade to the new Kaby Lake i7 later. But is the i3 good for good enough for not bottlenecking my RX 480 8GB, especially in the next 2 years. The most CPU intensive games I play are Battlefield 1 and Witcher 3.

Hi there guys Been having some issues with the OC on my i3 6100. Now I totally understand that a lot of people will be wanting to say that the CPU is not designed to be oc'd etc.. that I should just get a 6600k etc. However, I enjoy tinkering with lower spec components to get better performance out of them. I had the CPU running at 4.0Ghz with ram @ ~2600 Mhz stable on the stock cooler. I followed the guide on overclocking.guide for the Z170 Gigabyte motherboards. Overclocking Guide z170 Non-K The computer ran fine and I had verified that it was indeed running at those speeds. I took the computer apart as I was using the parts to troubleshoot another computer that was having issues. So I was using another CPU and lost my OC obviously. Upon putting the computer back together, I also installed a beQuiet! Pure Rock cooler so i could push a bit more out of the cpu. I went to overclock the cpu again using the same method as listed on the website listed above, and I cannot manage anything higher than a base clock multiplier of say 2-3 mhz higher than the standard 100mhz without getting a reboot stating the system crashed etc. I'm not sure if there is anything else I need to do, as I seem to be following the guide to a tee, but the system just refuses to boot at pretty much any overclock, which is odd considering I know for a fact It has been fine with the OC before. These are the specs of the computer if that has any bearing on my issue: CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor ($104.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: be quiet! PURE ROCK 51.7 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($109.98 @ Newegg) Memory: Kingston FURY 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Storage: OCZ TRION 150 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($64.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: MSI Radeon RX 470 4GB Gaming X Video Card Power Supply: Raidmax 850W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Specs: i3 6100 (~55 €) GTX 760 3 GB OEM (~55 €) OEM motherboard taken from an Asus G11CD gaming PC (about this I'm not 100% sure but I'm thinking something between 20 € and 40 €) And the case is Asus Essentio CM6830 (I'm just thinking about giving this for free) Thank you

Hi! Currently I'm running i3 6100, MSI H110M PRO-D motherboard, 2x4GB Kingston HyperX Fury 2133Mhz Ram with GTX 950 from MSI and 500W PSU. I was looking forward to upgrade since most of games I play(Assassin's Creed Unity/Syndicate and Total War series - Warhammer 1 and Attila) don't perform very well anymore(I'm not very demanding - medium high settings at 1080p are fine for me). I think in most games(please correct me if I'm incorrect) my dual core CPU limits me the most(in AC Unity buildings far away are blurry and when I get close they "sharpen up"). I was thinking about upgrade to Ryzen 7 2700 because of pretty good deal with Gigabyte AORUS Elite motherboard and later upgrade RAM to 16gb 3000Mhz and GPU(like RX580 - not sure about NVIDIA - I feel super confused about their new lineup) in the future. Is this CPU good choice? Will it give me a decent performance boost in my games over my i3 or should I look for a used 6/7 gen i7 and go with that instead? Or maybe it's the GPU that's limiting factor here? Any advise would be greatly appreciated because I feel super confused. Also I'm sorry if I've put this topic in wrong area

Hi! I currently have an i3 6100 CPU and a gtx 980 GPU. I'm getting about 45 fps average in shadow of the tomb raider on a 1440p monitor on medium/high. Lowering the settings doesn't help with the framerates and i'm thinking that's probably my gpu getting bottlenecked. Since i have some money saved up i'm thinking of upgrading to an i5 6600k (i have a z170 motherboard). How much would that improve performance? I also noticed very low framerates in assassins creed odyssey. Thanks in advance!

This is a bit long but I tried to provide as much detail as possible..... I'm currently using a Dell inspiron 3650 "gaming edition" , with an I7 6700, 16 GB of DDR3L, Custom OEM Dell H110 express motherboard, AMD Radeon R9 360 2Gb GDDR5, 240 watt unbranded non certified psu that seems to be designed to work with the custom dell motherboard (with no 24 pin connector), a slim optical drive, 2TB HDD and a Dell mini tower case. https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-inspiron-3650-mt-core-i7-6700-3-4-ghz-16-gb-2-tb/ It also has all the features you'd expect from a prebuilt, WiFi, bluetooth, HD audio and a 5 in 1 card reader. But the system lacks expandablity, and has poor thermals with the i7 and the R9 pulling high load from the under powered, uncertified psu that the machine comes with. The case also lacks proper ventilation for a system that's intended to do any gaming and only has one small case fan as well as a cpu cooler smaller than a stock intel heatsink. So I recently ordered a new motherboard, psu, ram and a decent air cooler so I can put the cpu into a better system with some expansion possibilities as well as upgrade potential. So I will be removing the CPU, GPU and the 2 TB HDD and putting them into my new build. This will leave me with all the rest of the parts from the Dell, now my question is would proprietary custom oem parts that are model specific even sell on the used market if I parted them out? Or would it be easier to sell if I bought a used i3 6100 cpu and a small drive to put windows on then sell it as a bare bones streaming system with no dedicated graphics? Any input would be greatly appreciated, I have very limited experience in selling used pc parts.

Hello, I currently have an i3 6100. I lately have thought about upgrading to a hexacore processor. I want to know just how much longer my current CPU could last since I currently 45-70 fps on new AAA games which don't necessarily bother me too much. While I could get a ryzen/coffee lake CPU right now, I would prefer to wait and get a cannonlake/zen 2 CPU and get much more use out of my current CPU.
