I just got a brand new hp spectre x360 13in. It has 16gb ram and an i7 7500u. I tried to play games like black ops 2 and cs go. They ran fine on lower resolutions, however, the thermals were insane.cs go hit 85 degrees on 720p low. Bo2 hit 90 on 800x900. These temps were during the first few minutes of play. Is this normal or do I have bad fans? How can I fix this?

I am going to college soon and am wondering what laptop to get. Right now im thinking about the razer blade stealth, xps x360 or dell xps 15. Im not looking to game as i allready have a dedicated gaming pc. I am mostly going to use it for internet browsing and video watching. I have gotten into music making so i may use it for that as well as autocad software. Which one should i buy as well as any other recomendations. looking for the best bang for my buck.

So im thinking of buying the new hp spectre x360, but i do have a concern. I want the 15 inch display, but it comes with an mx150 graphics card. I was thinking about getting an egpu with a much higher graphics card. My issue is that i read somewhere you cant use an egpu on a laptop with a dedicated graphics card. So is there a way to make the laptop integrated rather than dedicated, through the bios or something? Or will there not be any issue depending on which egpu i get? I saw linus reviewing the razer core by plugging it into a razer stealth laptop which has dedicated graphics, so im kinda confused.

I am looking to upgrade the 256GB m.2 ssd inside of my HP Spectre X360-4003dx laptop. It only has 1 m.2 slot so I wanted to see if there was a way to clone the existing ssd to a new 1TB Samsung m.2 ssd. Is there an external enclosure or adapter I need to buy to plug it in through USB 3 and clone it that way then just open the laptop and swap them out?

I have an HP Spectre X360 laptop and I've been trying to find a good way of using it to game. I decided to take advantage of both USB C Thunderbolt ports and am using an Akitio Node external GPU for one and the EUASOO 10 in 1 thunderbolt adapter for the other. The problem I've been having is that plugging something into the USB C ports while the laptop is running will either just not work (the GPU won't output and the HUB wont connect for power or data) or it will just cause my laptop to outright freeze sometimes. It also seems to stop my laptop from going into any kind of low power state like sleep or hibernate, instead forcing it to just wake back up. The only surefire way I know to make both devices work is to make sure my laptop already has a good amount of battery and then completely turn it off before plugging both devices in and restarting the computer. Has anyone else had problems like this?

Hey, so I currently have the HP spectre x360 15" 2017 model, which has a dgpu MX150 2GB which is not bad honestly and i7-8550U (quad core). This post semi concerns almost all variations of this model and size. Both the 15 inch and 13 inch models of the x360 have 4 pcie TB3 lanes, however the 15" only has 2 since the other 2 are dedicated to the MX150. I want to get an egpu with a proper graphics card, and I was looking at the Razor Core with the Gigabyte GTX 1660TI OC 6GB.. my three questions are: 1) Will I have a bottleneck due to the 2 pcie lanes since it will be running at 16gbps? 2) is the 1660TI an overkill if I wont be able to take advantage of the GPU's full potential? 3) does anyone have any experience using a similar setup or the Aorus 1070 8GB egpu(the compact size of it intrigues me since I tend to travel)? Hello everyone. There are so many of these threads, I hope this hasn't been asked before. I wanted to replace my iPad + Mac - Combo with a 2 in 1 device. I bought the HP Spectre x360 (HP Spectre x360 13-aw0030ng; i7, 1TB SSD) and was sadly disappointed. I am not planning on gaming, but I do some heavy multitasking (20-40 Chrome tabs, multiple ssh connections at once, multiple desktops, word and PDF, etc. most of the time all open at once). The i7-1065G7 in the Spectre x360, seemed to not be enough for my multitasking needs. Or my spectre was faulty I don't know. I had to send it back due to super bad palm rejection and that the screen flickered randomly. I currently have no laptop but I need one asap. (latest i can wait is first week of july) What I need: Good palm rejection so I can write with the pen like on the iPad I used to have Good Multitasking Light 13-"14" Maximum battery-life possible The only competing 2 in 1 that seems to work really well with a pen is the Surface Book 3, but it also has the i7-1065g7 and it is super expensive... Do you have any advice? I would love a 2 in 1 with the Ryzen 7 4800HS (or similar), but there seems to not be any....

Hi guys, I am buying a new Notebook and I have done my research, but I need help in my decision making. I am a masters student in microbiology and need a notebook mostly for writing, Photoshop, Illustrator and a bit of gaming (Life is strange and other not very demanding titles). I narrowed down my options to three laptops and will now list the differences, which maybe also help someone else decide. Just to inform you, I will use an external Monitor so colors and size isn't really a factor here. HP Spectre x360 Kaby Lake G-Chip with 4x 3.10 ghz Vega Graphics with 4GB HBM2 4k Touchscreen with Pen and around 300 nits brightness 2 in 1 HDMI Port Card Reader 15,6 inch 1700€ Dell 9570 i7-8750H 1050ti with 4GB 4k Touchscreen and around 400 nits brightness HDMI Port Card Reader 15,6 inch USB-C Charging 2100€ Huawei Matebook Pro U8550 Mx150 with 2GB 3000x2000 Touchscreen with around 450 nits brightness no HDMI no Card Reader 14 inch USB-C charging 1600€ So my thoughts: I really like the HP Spectre because it's all I want for an good prize, my worries are that the screen brightness might not enough and it doesn't have USB charging with would be a nice to have. The Dell 9570 seems like a solid choice although the cooling seems to be a problem, and alot of people complain about the graphics which seem to crash a lot. A nice to have from Dell is their Desktop Dock, which can charge the Laptop and also has all the ports I would like to have. and yeah the screen is awesome. Huawei Matebook Pro Best screen but a little underpowered an I would have to buy a dongle, because they copied too much from Apple. A nice to have is that with the right screen it can be charged over USB-C because its so low powered. Cool trackpad as well. Right now my favourite is the Dell, because of the screen, otherwise HP all the way. The Huawei would be a nice, but with the Huawei I can't get rid of my current Desktop because it doesn't have enough power. What I want from this thread? Built quality from these manufacturers, Personal experience with the mentioned models and a discussion about screen brightness (no experience in this area, my current Laptop is around 8 years old and I guess has aorund 200 nits) And yes I thought about Razor as well, but for that price and my use case it doesn't make sense.

Heyo, After getting the screen of my HP spectre X360 replaced due to a defect in the glass, i have noticed that things like chrome and other windows applications causes the trackpad and other input devices to stutter, and cause the system to freeze for anywhere between 2 to 30 seconds, ive tried some basic troubleshooting steps including reinstalls a driver updates, all to no avail, if anyone can suggest some fixes, that would be much appreciated.

I really need the community's help here; I want and need a good 2 in 1 convertible laptop. My main concern is with RELIABILITY. I had a Sony Vaio Flip 13 which was perfect when it worked: powerful, light, no bloatware, absolutely stunning design, a genious hinge mechanism and a wonderful stylus. But what a piece of junk it was regarding reliability!!! :-( It constantly stopped working and presented numerous hardware issues. MB replaced by Sony under when warranty, pc fan broke and I had to replace it myself and finally the screen and CPU malfunctioned, so I sold it for parts. But man, I still miss it alot. It worked for 18 months and my whole Nursing & Engineering degrees where on its Onenote. Now, the all new HP Spectre x360 t13 or t15 are my lead options. But I keep reading very bad reviews in amazon about them in every issue of hardware failure and such.. Vaio is also a good candidate (great 48W CPU). But I read it has a baterry issue and NO support from the company (and no Thunderbolt 3 i/o which is essential for future graphics proofing). Can people here with actual real life experience with these models confirm or disaprove the reliability issues? I need help here... Thanx

Hi, so I need help figuring out how to use the egpu to run games on the internal display instead of having to use an external display to use the GPU. This is so that i can game while i'm home for winter break away from my desktop which is still at the dorm. This is my setup: HP Spectre x360 15 i7-8550U w/8GB of Ram dGPU MX150 (currently disabled) The external GPU i'm trying to use is a Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme Edition 1080 Ti The case is the Akitio Node I'm at a loss of what to do now. The 1080 Ti drivers are installed, the PCIe connection between MX150 and cpu is disabled. The 1080Ti shows up on geforce experience and in device manager, but when I try to launch Nvidia Control Panel, it says no Nvidia GPU is detected.... I don't know what else to try. Any advice and help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm going to get a laptop and I've narrowed it down to one of 3 options, all 13" laptops. A Lenovo Yoga 900 which has a 3200 x 1800 display for $2200AUD and two HP Spectre X360's one with a 1440p screen for an ungodly high price of $3000 and one with a 1080p screen for a more reasonable $1800 to $2200. That $3000 laptop has some extra upgrades other than the screen, but I don't need an i7 for media playback and web browsing. I noticed when I was looking at all 3 in store that even with the different screen resolutions that the size of Windows UI elements and the text in Edge (they wouldn't let me see how Chrome looked) looked similar if not identical. So what's going on here? Is there a minimum test size or something? And since the text was about as small as I would want it even in tablet mode what are the extra pixels for in the first place?

hi i was wandering if anyone can help me with an issue im having with my new HP spectre x360 laptop running windows 10. when i use an external monitor plugged into the HDMI port after any amount of time the laptop can just completely freeze, all videos stop even the mouse stops moving, and the only way to stop it is to hard reset it. ive tried reinstalling the graphics drivers but have no clue where to begin otherwise thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give!
