Anyone got any sources on how to obtain firmware for AVR's that Denon now deem a legacy product? Have an AVR-X2000 I picked up cheap a year and a half ago that had no HDMI output and just the other day I bought a second one that had a dead amplifier circuitry and I switched the board with the HDMI switching from this new one into my existing one which worked no bother. Unfortunately, that board also has the main processor and firmware chip on it too and its not been updated to support Spotify connect like I had done with my one. And it now refuses to update since Denon have now marked this unit as legacy since June last year according to the entirely useless Denon customer support person who also seems unable to send me the firmware directly. So now I'm torn, cause I use the Spotify connect feature more than I ever actually use the video output of the thing, but it then makes my entire purchase of the second reciever a massive waste of time and money. I also probably could locate the ROM chip on my old board and switch it to the new one, but I don't have the equiptment or skills to be able to pull off such a procedure without entirely destroying everything... It's just frustrating casue these have the ability to be updated "locally" via the web gui as far as I'm aware, and failing that, there is a USB port on the front wired up for data and I'm led to believe It can be used for updating, but Denon just seem to refuse access to the firmware. Anyway, I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions.

Hi everyone, I'm considering upgrading my audio setup, which is a TV speaker, I'm looking for a balanced opinion, because if I ask on Reddit I know the answer depends on a sub I post in After doing some research I narrowed it down to two options: A) Samsung HW-Q930C soundbar B) Denon AVR-S660H receiver + pair of ELAC Debut 2.0 B5.2 speakers A is a bit more expensive than B, but less than any upgrade to B. My issue is that I cannot set up wired satellite speakers permanently and won't be able probably for 10+ years. So my thinking was: A.1) get the soundbar and put the satellite speakers as extended front channels and move them to the orange spots (left) when I want to watch a more demanding movie A.2) get the soundbar and put the satellite speakers in the yellow spots behind the table (right) B) get 2 LR speakers and an AV receiver set them up in front, and then upgrade them with a center channel/subwoofer as I see fit and give up the surround sound Additional info: I live in the apartment, but I do not have any neighbors apart from the floor below (and I live in the EU so we have more of a solid type of walls and building in general so should help with sound isolation). But I won't be able to blast volume so this is not a huge consideration. I do not listen to music that much in the living room, I plan to have a separate setup for that in my office in the future, but I guess this might change when I have a better setup? I guess my main question or concern is how much I'm giving up in terms of surround sound when watching movies by going to 2.0/2.1/3.0/3.1 compared to a Dolby Atmos soundbar. I'm aware that with the soundbar I won't get bang for my buck and I give up upgradability. I'm leaning towards option B with the receiver, but want to be sure what I give up. Thanks, everyone!

So I have a home theater setup using Klipsch speakers and their subwoofer (got a bundle, here’s the link to my exact products: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097CJYZHD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 ) Anyway, I've Had it for about 6 months now and it’s great, till about a week ago I started hearing the Sub vibrating when I step in certain places. Now it does this all the time when I am walking within distance from it, with a few steps turning its vibration and base up to 12 and doing it continuously till I pull the plug on it. I have NO idea how to fix this, please let me know if there is a way!

So recently I got a new Sony Bravia A95K 65" and was wondering if there were any suggestions for a HDMI extractor splitter combo with both and an HDMI and RCA output (preferably 3 HDMI inputs). For any that do not know the TV's IO, the only output for audio would be an optical out, so for simplicity I would prefer an HMDI extractor/splitter combo. eARC won't work in my situation as the old Yamaha stereo we have doesn't support it. I found a few options but they always either have poor reviews talking about quality issues after a few months, or don't have enough HDMI inputs. I'm based in Canada so bare that in mind when finding your recommendations. Thanks in advance for any and all your suggestions, Frozendude.

Hi guys, I have found a great deal on a LG OLED C1 65 inch and TCL 6r6 75 inch for the same price. Which one should I get? I know the TCL may get brighter but no mini led tv can beat the inky blacks of Oled. At this point I really dont know, and going to the store to look at them doesnt help because of the lights. I don't care about the OS they use cause I always use my apple TV. I watch tv in a dark environment which pushes me towards the LG but the bigger size of the TCL is also appealing. Helpppppp I willl choose whatever the majority chooses LG C1 Screen size: 65 inches Resolution: 3,840 x 2,160 HDR: Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG Refresh rate: 120 Hz Ports: 4 HDMI 2.1 (1 with eARC), 3 USB Smart TV software: webOS G-sync and Free-sync TCL R646 Screen size: 75 nches Resolution: 3,840x2,160 HDR: HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision Refresh Rate: 144 Hz Ports: 4 HDMI, 1 USB Audio: 2 (10+10) Smart TV Software: Roku TV Free sync

Setting up a new home theater system soon and looking for some help on picking the AV receiver. This is my first setup and will look to do it proper, with a budget of around 15k AUD and don't really want to spend more than %30 of my budget on receiver if i could. 7.2.2 is the goal. Centre: Klipsch RP-500C Floorstanding: Klipsch RP-5000F Dual 5.25″ Tower Rear: Klipsch R-51M Monitor Surround: Klipsch RP-402S Height: Klipsch CS-16C II In Ceiling Speaker Subwoofer: SVS PB-1000 Pro (may change surround and rear speakers) will add another sub in future. was also at the option of adding another power amp for front channels in future(maybe) Need a receiver that can run the 7.2.2 channels with latest tech. (4k/120, room correction...ect) Two receivers i came across that i think ticks all boxes. Denon AVC X4700H, Marantz SR6015 and still in budget.

Hi everyone! My name is Zak, and I am currently working on getting a degree in industrial and innovative design. I am currently working on ideas for a capstone project, and I was wondering if I could get some input on one of my potential ideas. I really like the concept of is designing a way to integrate home theater audio with furniture. There is some precedent for this type of thing with companies like lovesac integrating speakers into couch cushions, and victrola and some other companies making side table bluetooth speakers. But none of those are really high quality hifi solutions in my opinion. I was thinking of integrating audio into a tv console, in such a way that it would basically be like a giant high quality soundbar, and maybe combining that with a subwoofer concealed as a side table, but that's just one way you could do it. One company that has tried this approach and no longer exists is MeiliAudio, who designed a great looking, and apparently great sounding tv console (pictured below), but that company is gone, though hopefully not because their product wasn't a good idea. The benefit of this approach is that if you or your significant other don't like the way your living room/theatre room looks with a bunch of sound equipment in it, this would be a great discreet compromise for high quality audio that also is a high quality piece of beautiful furniture. If this is something you'd be interested in leave a reply on my post, and let me know what you think! Some things I'd love to get your opinion on are, should I be considering other types of furniture for this idea, would this fit into the market seeing as relatively cheap decent sounding soundbars exist, and if it should exist, would you prefer it as like an ikea level product (which might actually work since they have that sonos partnership), or something more handcrafted and oriented towards audiophiles?

Hi, I am trying to construct a home theater/Console/gaming setup. I am gonna buy an ultra wide monitor and speakers. The problem is connecting the Console (PS2, Wii, and Laptop). I am trying to connect all of these to one monitor and I don't know what to get to split and control the signals. I am fairly tech savvy but don't know a lot about monitor and console stuff. I need to know what ports my monitor should have, what extra stuff (output switcher, cables) and other stuff I need. I want to know what to buy and if its possible. The problem, to reiterate, is what I will need to connect all the stuff (PS2, Wii, and Laptop) to one ultra wide monitor (or regular sized) and switch between them freely. Feel free to ask for more details! Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Also can you connect active monitors to an amplifier? If you guys can direct me I would be very happy. Thanks alot !

Recently I purchased Samsung 49" Full HD Curved Smart TV K6500 with Samsung Soundbar. I have to keep everything tight because of the poor space. I have kept the sound bar underneath the TV and the subwoofer behind the TV very near. But I'm worried about it will effect to the TV. I know it's an LED TV. But I'm lil worried. If anyone know about this setup harmful for any of my devices please let me know. I'm willing to change the setup.

Hello there, So a couple of days ago I was given a HTIB system( this one ) and I thought I could connect it to my PC since I don't have any other speakers, only headphones. I'm using an optical cable right now but I tried with an RCA one and nothing happened again. I have tried plugging it in and out but to no avail, also I have tried changing my settings on both devices in hope that something there was wrong but that also came up short. I don't know what to do, because I was hyped to finally have some speakers. THINGS I HAVE ALREADY DONE : Confirming that the port on the HTIB is optical in and not out. Changing the mode on the HTIB to digital in Making sure the cable works so I know that's not the problem Making the optical my default on the computer Trying to connect with RCA cable and fail Unplugging and plugging the cable back in Changing any setting that would interfere with the connection Anyway, please show me what I might be doing wrong and tell me if there is anything else I can do to make this thing work, thanks in advance .

I make it quick and dirty this time. You offer great help and I dont want to waste your time, but rest assured I thought my part already. I want to build a mini pc (think hometheater) in a small case. I want to be able to have two monitors at 1080p running on it (whit the programms mostly on one). Its a multimedia setup, means streaming movies at 4k (max. one at a time), butter smooth netflix, plex, crisp internet browsing with 7 tabs open, you get the idea. The tricky part is I also want to play certain games at 1080p with 30fps (pref. 60 fps). Games narrow down to league of legends, hearthstone, world of warcraft and rocket league. Medium settings are more than fine. Thats all I ever do on my pc so the idea now is: Make it as powerfull as needed (no more overkill, no more "for five dollars more you could get this and this") > as cheap as possible >= as small as possible I was thinking a small form factor case, mini itx with wifi and bluetooth, 4gb ram, good cpu with integrated graphics that can power these games, stock fan and small factor power supply with like 350w or something and good ssd + hdd storage for movies etc. It should run windows 10. So what would you say. Thank you very much already.

Hi Community! I'm on the market for a nice pair of bookshelf speakers with the best bang for your buck and a appropriate receiver. I'm a novice when it comes to this topic and wanted to pick your guy's brain on what i should drop my hard earned money on. This set up will primarily be used for music and a occasional movie here and there. Types of genres that will be played would be EDM, Country, and hip hop. I pretty must started my research doing what any uneducated person would do and it was to search for the "best" speakers and go to the appropriate price range. Based on my research what I found to be the best are: https://www.fluance.com/signature-series-hifi-two-way-bookshelf-surround-sound-speakers https://www.qacoustics.com/bookshelf-speakers/3020i-bookshelf-speaker-pair.html https://www.klipsch.com/products/rp-500m-bookshelf-speaker https://www.jbl.com/loudspeakers/STUDIO+230.html?dwvar_STUDIO%20230_color=Black-GLOBAL-Current&cgid=loudspeakers#start=1 https://www.htd.com/Level-THREE-Bookshelf-Speakers Let me know what you would recommend based on these 5 speakers. I am also to floor standing as well and they would be of the same brand/series as the bookshelf.

TLDR: - Speaker mount for Polk S15 - $50 max for a pair - maneuverable mount So I just picked up 4 Polk Audio S15 speakers for my living room home theater setup. The speakers in the front will sit on the media center below the TV, but the back speakers will have to be mounted on the ceiling/wall and be pointed down. I have looked at a lot of brackets for this, but they are too expensive for my taste, especially when I don't know if it will work. The speakers do have hole at the back for mounting, but I am unsure what type of bracket to buy. The absolute maximum price for a PAIR of brackets is $50, and the mount needs to be moveable so that we can point them in the correct direction. Any feedback is appreciated!

Hi! I'm helping my mom and dad to buy a soundsystem for their TV and bluray player. They want Dolby Atmos, but their TV and bluray player do not have it. Does the TV and bluray player need Dolby Atmos verification to be able to utilize it if they buy a soundsystem that supports it? The soundsystem and bluray player are to be plugged into the TV via TOSLINK and HDMI respectively, so they can use apps on the TV and have sound through the soundsystem. Thanks in advance for all replies. Edit: fixed a typo in the title.

Little background on as to what I currently have for my setup I have a benq 1070 projector projecting a 120 inch image to my wall currently(will upgrade to screen after audio is done) and I am using a mix-match of old speakers I've collected through out the years. The sound is okay but as I increase the volume the two front speakers drown out the center speaker which impacts the viewing experience. Only pieces that I've purchased so far has been the subwoofer and receiver below. Yamaha RX-V377 5.1-Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver Polk Audio PSW110 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer (Single, Black) My question is what speakers can I pair up with what I have currently to make my surround sound be great. What I need to buy is 2xfront speak 2xrear speakers and 1x center to match the receiver and Subwoofer that I have purchased so far. My budget is in the $300-$800 range. I would prefer to match brand also color scheme matching would be ideal. Not a deal breaker. Thanks,

The Point: A nice HTPC for both of my TV's, one with the main desktop and another with the Virtual Machine for streaming. Ability to only run off of two wires: HDMI + Power cable Bluetooth compatibility for my phone and controllers. Wireless internet capability. Atleast enough horsepower to beat the next-gen consoles. (Update: This doesn't seem too hard now.) A custom made wooden case with a nice polish. (<-- This is the hard part) Audio Splitting for the VM and the main desktop. Full documentation of entire build process (this is where this forum comes in ) Maintaining the budget. ($450-$500 USD) Super fast boot time. The Parts: Warning! Will constantly change in both parts and price depending on when I decide to order. I still have some financial business to get out of the way along with some personal family problems. CPU Intel Pentium G2120 3.1GHz Dual-Core $66.99 (Because it's basically my processor now without the Hyperthreading.)
