Ran into a snag when setting up my home network. Thought I could extend my network coverage by setting up two access points on the RAX50 router (using 2 RAX35s). Was able to set up one of the RAX35s but when setting up the second one it would always fail. I was told by support that the RAX50 can only handle 1 WAP when it’s connected directly into it. If I use a small managed switch as a “middle man” between the RAX 50/ and the RaX 35s will I be able to set up the network as I was originally planning to? I ordered this managed switch to accomplish this NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch (GS105Ev2) - Managed, Desktop or Wall Mount, and Limited Lifetime Protection https://a.co/d/5PsefJw My question is will this work or will I run into the same issue as before?

So my house has thick brick walls and an L shape. The fiber cable comes from the attic at one of the ends of the L shape home. There is a wifi 6 isp provided router. The previous solution was a mesh nodes next to the router and another mesh node at the other and of the L shape home where my TV is. The isp provided router wasn't set to wifi, only the 2 mesh nodes. This solution started dying and the network wasn't even there in the middle of the L shape. Now I'm thinking of buying a 3 pack mesh, but there might be a better solution for this. Can you help me find the best solution? I have 1gbit internet and the cable comes down at that end because my PC is there, so it has wired connection.

Hello LLT community, I'm in need of some guidance regarding a much-needed Wi-Fi upgrade. When Plume was first released, my dad opted for it as the best available option at the time. However, it's become clear that an upgrade is long overdue. Plume is limited to Wi-Fi 5, operates on a subscription service, and is frustratingly slow to boot up. Our internet connection is through Comcast Business, and we're fortunate to have it provided by a FAANG company. We have a medium-sized home with a growing number of devices, and three of us are working from home, making a robust and reliable Wi-Fi network essential. Considering these factors, I've been contemplating upgrading to Wi-Fi 6E. It appears to be a suitable choice for our needs given its enhanced speed, capacity, and ability to accommodate a multitude of devices. However, I'd love to hear from the LLT community for any advice, suggestions, or alternative recommendations you might have. Hi, I am looking to install wifi in a 4 floor house which has in-house ethernet installation done all over the place. Floor plate of one floor is 2500 sq ft. I wanted to know if I can install TP-link EAP 225 ceiling access points in strategic positions on every floor such that all floors get wifi coverage. Each access point will be connected via ethernet which will be hosted on a single network. Further, I want every access point to have the same SSID and password. I wanted to know if I can seamlessly move throughout the house and get unbroken internet experience? Will the connection of my phone/laptop automatically shift to the best access point available? In other words, can a network of multiple Tp-Link EAP 225 be used as a substitute to Ubiquiti equipment? Thanks

Hey fellas, today i am here with a new idea.I live in india and internet quality is very poor even my internet connection doesn't reaches above 50 kb/s on 4G .I came up with an idea that what if my cellular network send me packets compressed by 25% and it decompresses as soon as it reaches my device from which i am trying to access data .As,newer smartphone and computers are coming with more powerful processor and faster memory this would give me a faster internet connection.

Hi, I Have this strange Wireless problem at my house that I can't seem to figure out on my own. I first bought a TP-Link N600(TL-WDR3500 v1) it started with my wife complaining about the videos in the tv would stop playing, and start turning blurry and eventually not playing at all, I rebooted the router and moved on. Once I got my Battle station set, I started playing wireless and then I noticed the problem as my latency would increase dramatically. So I started to look in to the issue, at first I did not find anything, and was in the exact same spot that I am now, so I just bought a new router, D-Link(DHP-1320), It was ok for the first few days and then back to square one, latency going up, video wouldn't load ect.. so I started looking at logs. I noticed a few MAC Addresses requesting IP over and over and it sort of correlated with the time that the wireless started to slow down. This router did not tell me what devices were doing the requests, so I Tried the TP-Link again to see if those logs gave me more information and it turns out I found out that it was the Apple devices. After a few days of re-searching and about 3 hours wasted with Apple support to see if they could tell me why, those devices were doing that, I had no luck. I found out that low battery mode, to save energy, associates and de-associate with the wireless APs as the phone turns off and back on. Since I have some wireless knowledge I thought that so many devices doing that( Most of my home devices are Apple), constantly, might be messing up the signals or the router detected some sort of attack and just dropped every one off or something along those lines. So I tested banning all low battery mode in all devices for like a month, it seem to have stopped it and then it started again. What changed? my brother in law came to live with us for a few months and he brought he's PS4 ,Wii U , Macbok Pro and iPhone. This time there were not that many request and drops from devices in the logs but the wireless just started to crawl again. After a few more tweaks and changes to the routers config, including bandwidth control, static IP assignment, OpenDNS, you name it, it still doing the same thing. I got so frustrated with it that I did what any ''rational'' person would do, throw more money at it so I bought a Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200Triband wifi router model : R8000. Still have the same issue. Last thing I noticed was that, I have 2 Visio Smart Tvs, that when I Tried to see Hulu or Netflix in the 32' one it would just kill 2.4Ghz band, with the Night Hawk. The other one is connected to the 5Ghz band and with the night hawk router it only gets about 2Mb download speeds Vs with the Tp-Link it received about 16Mb in download speeds and today even the 5GHz was crawling with 3k latency and .5 MBS download speeds. Even trying to load the routers interface over Wifi was impossible. I rebooted it and I was back at normal performance. So now, I only notice the wireless issues when one of the Tvs Tries to stream content. Except for today when I got home from work that nothing was playing and the wireless was crap. So here I am, seeking some advise. I am really lost... Please let me know if you need any more info or have any Ideas on what to look for or test. Some Notes: I changed my battle station and the LAN seems to keep operating normally, so its only the wifi. The Night hawk has Dynamic QoS, I've tried on and off with QoS. All Routers have the most up to date firmware possible. Neither the TP-Link or the D-Links are supported by DD WRT or Open WRT There is one guide for the TP-Link from OpenWRT but my router does not like it. Some one suggested me to separate the functions by using one as a gateway only and the other as an AP only (I have yet to try this). I have wireless Alpha cards for testing, I can do my best possible with wire shark, I have a laptop loaded with Kali so I have all the tools needed for testing. Ok, I've poked around some other forums and decided to answer some questions beforehand. Thanks in advance! 1. My modem is an At&t NVG510. 2. It was made 9/11/2013. 3. I have At&t internet basic 3, Which means I should be getting a Max of 3 Mbps. (I know most of the time it won't ever be the max possible speed). 4. I only get 300KBps MAX. 5. I did conduct the speed test with all other devices off of the network. 6. I also conducted the speed test whilst being connected via ethernet. 7. My house was constructed in 1953. The images attached are of the outside and inside of my house. You're probably going to need to explain some things to me. I do have a book, "The creative Homeowner's Ultimate Guide to Wiring". But it doesn't explain some questions I have. I figured going after some forum guidance wouldn't hurt. Thanks, again, Lonny. P.S my backyard is shit I know. Also, I'm confused on what cables I'm able to use. Am I restricted to whatever cable already goes to the pole? What should I do to get better internet? What do I need to buy? Thanks once more!

Hello, since I recently upgraded my internet connection from 50Mbits to 250Mbits I tried a lot of stuff the get the full value. With a Laptop directly connected to the Router I get around ~220Mbits but when I use regular wifi solutions or a wireless bridge to connect it to my regular PC I cant even exceed 100Mbits. So my question is what other alternatives I have. Im going to try a Powerline adapter in the near future but other than that I dont know of anything else. Also connection my actual PC directly is not really an option for me.

I am looking to make a baller home network setup I am about to run cat 6 in my was to replace the very dated cat 5 (yes regular cat 5). There are currently 1 to 2 Ethernet jacks in every room so I will be needing a 24 port managed switch I do plan to add security cameras in the future (all Poe). my home does have a networking room that I plan on putting a sever rack in. I’m leaning more towards ubiquity but have no clue what I need to get. any and all advice welcome if you need more info pm me or ask below.
