Hi peeps, I've got a question! You know the video Linus made: "Build the perfect gaming PC - Holiday Buyer's Guide 2016" (If you haven't seen it, check it out! It'll help you find you're PC during the holidays if you want to build one. Link: ) Well im planning on building the second one (1000$)! But the problem is that I've never built a computer. So I'm searching for help to comprehend how to build it. I'll appreciate any help from you guys that'll make me build it appropriately. I don't want my PC to explode because I built it wrongly. Thanks for all the support! Sincerely, GalaxyInfinitYT

Been saving for about a year now, 2300 euro so far. Planning on taking a trip to the far east. Big pokemon fan, anime fan, ww2 enthousiast and all that. Do you have any hotspots I should visit? Any hotels you recommend? Anything information would be welcome. I have personally done a lot of research but there could be a lot of hidden gems you cant easily find online.

Hey guys, Bit of a random question but I'm looking at booking a holiday to Vancouver this year between mid September and mid October, always wanted to visit!! Was just wondering if anyone could let me know what the weather is like, is it still warm then? Also any suggestions welcome for things to go see and do. Just for info I'm from the world renowned sunny paradise of Scotland so that should hopefully give a perspective of what I take warm to be...

Hello everyone. I’m looking for advice to purchase a budget laptop for my parents this holiday season. Specific model number would be most helpful. My budget is no more than $400 dollars, and it will primarily be used for Office, browsing news and stock tips online, and for viewing pictures sent from their adult kids. No gaming besides card games, so no need for a dedicated GPU. Just looking for the best bang for the buck that will last multiple years. The trackpad doesn’t have to be spectacular, as I assume they’ll be using a mouse. This laptop will live in their home, and seldom be more than 10 feet from a charger. Should I be looking at AMD now? Or does Intel still reign supreme even at the lowest end? Lastly, if anyone has advice between leaving the bloatware on (for the most part) or installing a completely clean version of Windows, I’d appreciate the input. Thanks in advance!

Ok, so I am going on holiday for 10 days to Italy (wahoo!) and so before I go I would like to know if there are any good practices to do before I leave my PC. My uncle will be staying in my house for this time so I don't have to worry about burglary but still... Should I totally unplug it? [Insert other questions here] Thanks, Brennan Price.

I am looking into buying some parts to build my girlfriend a new gaming rig, we both currently use our old laptops to do some gaming together, but I wanted to get her something better. I was thinking of getting her a ps4, but I believe I can get better performance out of a pc for a similar price. For the rig, aesthetics and noise are not really a factor, it would be nice to improve on both, but performance per dollar is the most important thing about this build, and second most is the ability to do some upgrading in the future, hopefully ill be able to upgrade by adding parts without removing old parts, just to keep the price low on future upgrade-ability, but this is not terribly important This build will most likely need to be up and running a touch before Christmas. I plan to do no overclocking, though I may overclock some parts slightly, this is more for the longevity of the pc than anything else. as time passes, and game requirements spike, I may overclock parts in the future, so it is a plus if I can, but if it is something that will make the build suffer in other areas, I would rather spend the money on better equipment at stock clock speeds. the aesthetics are of little to no concern, mainly due to the cost, I want to put all the money I can into the performance. my os will be windows 8 or 10, depending on price, and Is budgeted seperately. I live in the us, and I have a budget of somewhere between 400 - 500 dollars, though I can stretch it slightly, if the performance per dollar will increase by doing so. I am looking primarily into more affordable parts that will out perform a ps4. I have a few things I have found on new egg that fit the general price point of the overall build, however, I am very new to this, and most of my experience with computers has been on the software side, so I am completely open to suggestions for video cards I have looked at two, I have heard I should look into the r9 280 and r9 290, but both where out of stock when I did most of my research PNY GeForc GTX 960 DirectX 12 VCGGTX9602XPB-XE-OC 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0x16 SLI Support XLR8 Elite OC Video Card core clock 1304 mhz boost clock 1367 mhz 1024 cuda cores pci express 3.0x 16 price point: 180$ EVGA GeForce GTX 960 DirectX 12 02G-P4-2968-RX 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support FTW ACX 2.0+ Video Card - Certified Refurbished core clock 1304 mhz boost clock 1367 mhz 1024 cuda cores pci express 3.0x 16 price point: 150$ for a processor, I found one of the most powerful I could at a 100 dollar price point, if there are any suggestions, I am looking for something with 4 or more cores, since games requireing a higher core count are becoming more common. AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5 GHz (4.1 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W FD6300WMHKBOX Desktop Processor price point: 100$ for the mother board, to be completely honest, I was a little baffled by this, mainly due to the number of options, and compatibility issues. I have no idea what is a good value. for this part, I am hoping to have some upgrade-ability, I want two or more slots for ram, and I would prefer two gpu slots with 24 - 32 pci or pcie lanes, though this is more of a desire than a necessity, and if the price would suffer then 16 pci lanes on a single slot will do fine. I also wanted some general ability to upgrade in the future, without throwing the current parts out of the build, being able to set up the old card and a new one using crossfire or sli, would be nice, and being able to put ram in without taking old ram out would be wonderful, but if the build has to be more static to save money that is also acceptable. the other parts are rather generic. any appropriate power supply, a bit of overhead is good, noise is not much of an issue 8-16 gb of ram in a single stick to open up room to upgrade in the future. an ssd isn't necessary and would be expensive, so I would opt for the much cheaper 1tb hdd by seagate for 20 dollars the case would be anything that fits the parts, again, the performance per dollar is much more important than appearance, though if i can make it look good on a budget that wouldn't be so bad. in terms of cooling, I am going with a set of three fans, noise is not an issue, as the rig will be used with noise cancelling headphones, though I am willing to pay extra to keep the heat down, so cooling is extremely important, noise, not so much. if there is anything I am missing, or a better way to put this build together, any input would be great, thank you for taking the time to read this, I am sure that what I am looking at is somehow woefully inadequate, and I apologize, but again, this is my first build.

I'm going on holiday, what should I do with my PC?
Constipated Crow posted a topic in Power Supplies
Hey there, I'm going to be away from my PC for the next month or so, and after having used my custom built PC for the past 2 years almost every single day, I don't know if there's anything I need to do before I depart. Is it better to simply leave the PC turned off, should I put it to sleep, or hibernation? Is there anything I should download beforehand, or am I simply overthinking this? Cheers for all the replies! -
I live in the United Kingdom and I am flying abroad soon. I'll use either Thomas Cook, Thompson, easy jet or Ryan air to fly with. Will I be able to take my small penny board on the plane with my hand luggage? I've seen YouTubers do so but wondering if it's different in England

Hey all, Didn't really know what subforum this fell into so posted in OT. So I'm going on holiday tonight,Tuesday to Sunday. I'm a fairly overprotective (read: paranoid) PC parent and I just wanted to ask if there's anything I should do with my rig (in my signature) to ensure it's safety while I'm gone? Plug it out, keep it plugged in, anything like that? Any ideas are welcomed, thanks everyone

I randomly thought about the hilarity of hearing the LMG crew singing their own rendition of a tech-themed Christmas/holiday album? Anyone else kinda actually want that? Just me? Probably just me.

Since Christmas (and i just finished decorating my tree) is getting close i thought i'd start up this thread. Rules: 1. list three of your favorite Christmas movies 2. If you don't celebrate Christmas but think some movies are good you can list them. 3. If you don't celebrate Christmas DO NOT discriminant against those who do. 4. No arguments over religion this is not the place for that. 5. Be respectful of your fellow members. Here are mine 1. Disney's version of A Christmas Carol 2. Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas 3. The Polar Express Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All! (I also love the home alone movie 1-3)

So I was throwing together a quick Christmas list to give to my parents, and I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for some ~$100 or less gifts? I'm a PC gamer with most of the stuff needed for a basic setup. Any ideas? EDIT: Looking for gift ideas for myself and for my parents, question was poorly worded. Parents are techie about some things and illiterate about others.

I've been working on compiling lists of deals for the holiday sales going on on Amazon primarily but may throw in some other sources from time to time. If you see anything that is expired let me know and I'll try to keep it updated and fresh. Hi guys! I'm from Singapore, and just wondering if you guys have been to Singapore, and more importantly, if you have gone to Sim Lim Square, the infamous tech mall. Would love to hear your experiences and how you guys dealt with those who tried to scam you:) Hope you guys enjoy this thread:)

Hey guys, the Steam Winter Holiday Sale is right around the corner, and I was wondering... What games are you planning to pick up? What is your budget? Are you planning to help a good friend out, and pick a game up for them? 1. Looking to get CS:GO, Arma 3, Shadow of Mordor, and maybe another early access game or Just Cause 2. Who am I kidding? I'll buy more games than that if I overspend... Ones that I won't even play! 2. I only got a budget of $100... I gotta make it count. Until I overspend to $200, then $300.... 3. Maybe, but I I already bought games for my friends in the summer sale, so probably not... It's about time they return the favor. I mean... Be nice and share those Christmas cheers! Please be respectful to others, as they enjoy the genre of games they play... We're here to just share our plans. Treat others how you want to be treated, please.
