For quite some time now I have been getting weird PC freezes, but my mouse and audio continue working as normal, even in-game fps displays still show my usual framerate, but the whole system just gets completely unresponsive. As said audio keeps running as normal and I can still talk to people normally on discord. Weirdly enough, the issue goes away whenever I turn my monitor off and back on. I thought it might be related to my monitor.. bought a new one and still facing the exact same issue. At the very bottom I'm gonna add a short youtube video of the issue, the video is from some months ago but the issue is still 1:1 the same and sorry for the silly censoring. (During most of the mouse movement I pressed m1 w/o anything happening) Currently I'm on Windows 11, I have clean-installed it 2-3 times by now and even switched back to Windows 10, always faced with the exact same issue. Also tried switching between Studio Drivers and Game Ready Drivers, same issue. (uninstalled with DDU previously) Just before posting this I ran memtest86 for 3 hours, not getting a single error. The worst part about my issue is, I can't reproduce it at all, it happens fully random and there is no consistency to it whatsoever. Checking Windows event viewer doesn't show anything either during the timeframe of the system being unresponsive.. Stress-testing the rest of my system, it doesn't seem to be heat related, the GPU's sitting at 70-80°C during stress tests and the CPU between 60 and 70°C. Unfortunately I don't have any hardware to swap in to single it out. Something that might also be worth mentioning even though it being with completely different systems (1231 v3, GTX 1060, only some of the drives re-used) I have had like 3-4 PSUs die here in the last 10 years, them being from Thermaltake and BeQuiet. (wiring in our apartment is really bad, I suspect that being the reason for PSUs dying) The game I play the most and had this issue happen the most is Final Fantasy XIV, but earlier the exact same thing happened 2 times within an hour whilst playing Teamfight Tactics, Interestingly, both freezes in TFT started occurring when the loading screen finished and we spawned into the area where you choose a portal. Does anyone here have an idea or a suggestion on what I could try next or stuff that I can try again? Honestly I have run out of ideas. All the parts except the non NVMe drives are still under warranty and have been purchased within the last 24 months, tho timing between the purchases differs a lot. Another note: I'm not sure when this issue started occurring, but I have never had this with my old GTX 1060, which I replaced about end of February this year with the 4070 Ti, nothing in my system changed since then. And I apologize for the terrible formatting, it's 4am right now.. might redo it later. My current setup: Intel Core i5 12400f (planned to replace it with a 14700k, but want to resolve this issue first.) MSI Z690 Tomahawk Wifi DDR4 (latest BIOS version) PNY NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti 16GB G.Skill RipJaws V 3600-CL16 (used to be overclocked to CL14, but running on default XMP settings since I have been encountering this issue) 750W EVGA GQ 1TB SN850X (split into 2 partitions, 300GB for OS, rest for games) <- FFXIV is on this drive 500GB Crucial MX500 (mostly games and random files) <- TFT / LOL is on this drive 250GB Samsung 850 Evo (currently nothing on this drive, wiped it not long ago) 1TB Seagate HDD (just a data grave) Video of it happening: Thank you so much in advance.

Hey there, everyone! I'm Ekto, and I could really use your help with upgrading my 2017 27" 5k Retina iMac. I've been doing some research to see if it's possible to upgrade to a 9th Gen Intel CPU. My goal is to give my device a boost and future-proof it until I can afford a full desktop PC build: My research so far has been kind of fruitless. Most of the posts I've come across end with something like, "Well, it should theoretically work with an i7 9700 (non-K) since the socket and TDP match, but there might be compatibility issues with the EFI firmware." What surprises me is that I haven't found any solid evidence of someone actually attempting this specific upgrade, and with a lot of the Tech subreddits participating in the current blackout for due to the API pricing changes still, it's not making things that much easier. So, I thought I'd try turning to this forum for some info on this. If any of you have any knowledge or advice regarding an upgrade like this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you all in advance for your time and assistance! PS: Here in the forums, people to seem to be split about this as well:

As the title implies I am currently looking for a smartwatch. As most of the people around me have started wearing smartwatches, I found a new interest in wanting to have one as well. Looking at all the variety that is out there it is hard to decide which is the best my case specifically, especially since I only recently really got into computers and tech related stuff, so still being on the learning curve of things. I basically want a smartwatch, that can run basic apps like music, display my messages, maybe take calls from it instead of having to pick up my phone, calender and that kind of stuff. The apple watch for example has all the functions that I would love to have for a smartwatch. However seeing as this doesn't work on android, I am looking for a good android smartwatch that has the same functionality. In case this makes a difference I am currently using a Samsung S8 as main phone, with a secondary Moto Z3 Play, the smartwatch will probably only be used along with my S8 and not the Z3. I am looking into possibly getting a newer Samsung phone in the future, so no going back to apple for me on this front. The max I am willing to pay for a smartwatch is up to €300,- ($370). I hope you guys can help me, as I have just been aimlessly looking at different smartwatches,w ithout really knowing what I need and I am looking for. Thanks in advance. P.S. if this is the wrong place to post this I would love to hear it and I will remove it and move it to the appropriate forum.

As the title suggests I am looking for a good chair that I can spend long period of time per day on. I am currently finishing up my masters and will soon be starting work as an architect, it is not uncommon for me to make longer days or after work to do some gaming. I can easily sit for 14 hours a day behind my computer. Because of this my current chair, some cheap Ikea office chair, has started to fail on me after great service of nearly 5 years. I have been looking at several different types, but can't quite make up my mind on what would be the best to get. I have been looking at the Ergochair 2, Secretlab Titan and the cheaper option Ikea Markus. The decision between an office, ergo or gaming chair (in this case only the secretlab applies) is very hard seeing as I get mixed reviews and info from my friends. Having said all that my max budget would be 400 euro's. As for specifics about my height and weight, because these seem to influence the choice for a chair heavily. I am 1,80 m and weigh around 90kg (thank you Covid -.-), I am however trying to pick up my daily exercise routines again and hoping to soon be back to the 80 kg mark. Other than this I am from the Netherlands, so being able to buy a chair that has a warranty and ofcourse not hundreds of euros of shipping to here would be what I aim for. Meaning that some of the amazon chairs that are popular in America and Canada are not available here / not an option. If you have any recommendations for a chair please let me know, and please also disclose why you think it is better. Non-answers like gaming chairs suck, without reasoning I will just plainly ignore. Thanks in advance for you guys' help. - Dylan

Hey so I have been running this on and off for a few months and I have been trying to think of solution for how I should optimally take advantage of my hardware, so I thought I would just come to the forum and ask for some advice. Down below are the questions I have as well as the build I am using for my home server. So I have a "decently" collection of hardware and I put together a home server for storing files and running small game servers. I have been running into so many network problems and wanted to just seek bettwe advice as to how I should set the machine up to do what I need it to do. Before I moved this rig to Ubuntu it was on Windows and was a Media Encoder ingest server for the videos I edited (4k - 8k footage) After I moved it to Ubuntu it was my local NAS and minecraft server (it would be running upwards of 5 minecraft servers at a time each with upwards of 4-10GB of RAM dedicated to their instances). I currently live with 4 Twitch streamers 2 of us are editors that get a ton of footage pretty much every week (more like 40+ clips equalling upwards of 8gb+) so having a way to store VODS or download folders of clips from a google drive would help immensley. Now I am in the process of just reinstalling an OS and staring from scratch, but I want some advice on how I can acomplish some if not all of these tasks on one machine. Most importantly a NAS that will be access from pretty much only Windows machines and a machine to host game servers on, mnostly Minecraft. I don't really care for a "media server" because I have no idea how to even make use of that (like store stuff on it, I know the name Plex but not actually what it is/how it works) but I do have a theatre room, running off of an Xbox Series X and the house is networked with cat5e (i'm pretty sure). I know of unRaid but I'm not really looking to spend more money on this setup but if there aren't any other alternatives out there then I'm down to buy a liscence. For those wondering about security, I know this isn't the best way to do this but I find that it works fine, but I basically have a double NAT where my main router connects to my tplink router from LAN-WAN and the tplink router is in DHCP mode and is port-forwarded on all ports (1-65535) and then on the tplink the server is port-forwarded on certain ports like SSH, MYSQL, SFTP, HTTPS, etc... I am not very much into network sercurity but this is pretty the only thing I could find (for myself I know there is other stuff out there). Any advice is greatly appreciated thanks! TL:DR, i want a mouse with 12 side buttons that is not a razer due to issues encountering issues in my products from them lately. More details as of what i want and my uses for it is in paragraph two Hey, so i am in the market of an mouse upgrade but is a bit lost of what to get. Previous mousse i been using was a mouse with a 12 button side panel which was great in my excessive playing of strategy games like StarCraft. After that broke did i decided to get myself a razer naga trinity as it was razers offering with 12 side buttons and i already had a headset and keyboard in the ecosystem. This first one several me great having no issues over the several years i had it until it got lost then i moved. I did decide to buy a replacement and it failed within two months having the lower third of the buttons randomly die which i luckily got replaced due to included purchase warranty from my retailer (law requires some basic warranty there i am from) and now my second one has encountered the same issue about 6 months later which in my opinion simply isn't acceptable so i decided to look elsewhere but i am having troubles finding one with so many buttons. The reason i want that many buttons is not just only for gaming but also for cad and programing reasons as i use that space for several macros to quickly switch tools or run commands like eclipse's auto formating and quick replacement of object names etc. Even if my ideal mouse would have 12 buttons can i settle for as low as 8 or maybe 6 depending on the other features. A plus would be wireless and lightweight mouse there i value the wireless aspect than lightweight aspect. Light control and decent software where i can make macros are very important for me but that is something I can look more into myself. Another plus would be if it is from a brand there i can have a ecosystem of all my peripherals controlled in the same software to make changing around and syncing things like lights easier. Thanks for reading my probably rambling mess of a post and for any suggestions

Hello everyone! I've been looking at my control panel settings lately, and am trying to figure out how to use them to get optimal gaming results. I've heard conflicting advice on what to choose for which settings, or whether to change them at all, and was hoping you all could set me straight I got curious about this, because I've switched from playing on an Xbox one to a PC, and although my resolution is slightly higher, the Xbox one can put up very high frame rates with literally zero tearing on games like Forza Horizon 4, and from everything I've read a GTX 1650 D6 is better than the "gpu" the original Xbox one has. Attached are screenshots of my current control panel settings. Thanks in advance!

Hello guys, I have a 1year old Sabrent 256GB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance Solid State Drive (SB-ROCKET-256) that i bought from amazon, since I have a career in IT now i was doing some benchmarks on the SSD to see how fast it performed attached are the results. I see that the reads perfectly fine but it lags with the write speeds. Amazon post stated that i read and write up to 3100mbs which is the reason i bought it for, Now my question is why is it writing so slowly? I have a Lenovo Legion Y530 81fv i7-8750h with GTX 1050ti 16GB RAM I made sure that the mobo was compatible and had a M.2 NVMe Capability. Windows still boots up super quick in under 5sec all programs in ssd are fine but when i try and copy and paste a copy of a 4gb file it starts at 68kbs YES kbs! I need help if you guys got solutions let me know please!!!

new pc (Partially) New PC for ~800€, help needed :)
JackCandem posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hey guys, I am planning on buying a new PC soon so I thought I might ask you for your thoughts: 1. Budget & Location Germany -> max 800€ 2. Aim Gaming (League/MMOs (Revelation Online)/CIV/DeusEX... so a bit of everything I'd say) on my main screen while most of the time watching a movie on my second screen. Other then that mostly web browsing and "light office work". 3. Monitors 2 Monitors: Main one runs at 1920 x 1080 and the second one runs at 1680 x 1050 - tho i will most likely buy a new screen (with 1920 x 1080 resolution as well) the month after and move main -> second, second -> trash I would not say I plan on using more then two. 4. Peripherals No. I mean I want to, but there is no need for it so I might wait a month or two, as I got a nice working peripherals this will be a "novelty purchase" later on. 5. Why are you upgrading? My current pc is from 2012 (Alienware Aurora), and slowly falling appart ^^. I only installed an SSD and switched the graphic card 2 years ago (or so) to a MSI GeForce GTX970 as the old one was dying but well now the rest of the PC seems to follow and I dont think that it is unreasonable to buy a new one now.... Current Idea: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/VQKTVY About this List: The RAM was choosen at random as the one I planned on originally was DDR3 I have a hard time deciding which Motherboard I want, and am never really happy with any choice I made...so please explain me why I should choose XY Motherboard I will use my GTX970 - I will most likly upgrade in a month or two, but for now I want to stay this way and not spend a single cent on a new one. I have a 250GB SSD that is a year or two old that I will use Please explain why you'd advise me to rather buy "xy" PSU/CPU/ etc. I never did overclocking but would like to experiment some day, thats why I chose a "K" CPU and a Motherboard that supports overclocking Thank you for all your help! -
Hello, I want to make a small website for a hobby ecommerce "business". I considered eBay, but I've had issues with PayPal and their ID stuff... chargebacks etc. I looked at shopify, and square space to build my "business"/hobby. I would perfer to not have to send my ID, I don't feel comfortable doing so. Does anybody know a website for me? I just need to be able to accept credit/debit etc. As it's a hobby, I expect to be selling around $500 worth of scarves per month at the most. Thank you for your help! I wasn't sure where to post this, so admin please move it if needed.

I run the tech booth most Sunday's at my church. We already assumed something was wrong with the system because we have only owned it for about a year, and we store little to no local data on it except for some worship software, so we don't think it should be taking more than 5 minutes to boot. It's a Dell Inspiron system with what I believe is a Haswell Refresh i3, with 4 or 8 gbs of ram, a HDD, and some type of Nvidia GPU( we know that much considering the thing came with Gforce experience already installed). The GPU has a VGA port, HDMI port, and a DVI-I port. we use the main VGA port to output to the monitor, and the DVI-I port with a DVI-I to VGA adapter to output to our projector. While I was getting the power point up during morning sound, everything was working fine, everything that was supposed to have an image did. Upon returning from class, the monitor was getting no image but the projector was, with very little time to decide we just ran everything through the projector. So my assumption was the entire port was fried and we'd just need to get another cheap GPU to run the video outputs through. Anyone with any better ideas? Could it be the cable is broken in one spot and no longer sending a signal or something beyond my technical knowledge? Thanks for reading and any help or advice is welcomed.

Budget 2 - 2,5k euros, flexible Aim: Gaming Monitor: MSI Optix MAG27CQ Peripherals needed: OS?? Somehow able to migrate previous key? Without an optic bay? Why upgrading: Current PC GTX 970 / i7-4790K / 16 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3, prebuilt (Obviously), bought for 970 euros several years ago. Still somewhat competent, but aging is starting to show aging in certain games. FPS dropping even below 20 at times, having to use lower settings to a point that people would become headless after a short range in Kingome Come: Deliverance.More importantly, having some actual disposable income now and somewhat keen to get something more high end for once. Preferrances: Reliability, quiet, comfortable (To build, to live with), nothing too flashy. Previous knowledge / experience: Nada, zilch, nothing. Played with pcpartpicker for like 2 years and watched a lot of LTT, JayzTwoCents and others a lot. Carrying over from previous PC: Keyboard, mouse, headset, 2 TB intel 660p, maybe an unknown 1 TB SATA SSD Need help with: Part picking: - Am I able to build a complete PC with everything I've selected so far, am I missing something small, but very significant? - Are there somehow incompatible parts? Size? Version? Support?) - What case am I supposed to go with? Originally wanted to go with be quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 Rev 2 but got unsure, if it would choke the PC from lack of airflow. What I've currently picked for just below 2,2k euros at a local store: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Hazunia/saved/wq4XP6 Like stated, I've thought about building my own PC for a long, LONG time, never had the courage, but now I'm slowly starting to get the confidence to try. The build started at like way over 5k build and switched from intel i9 9990k to i7 9700k and eventually now to AMD. and I feel like it's just about ready to be built. Questions lingering in my mind: Is the Motherboard appropriate for the plan? Should I wait for DDR5 to be released and revise the build more again later? Should I wait for intels answer to AMDs processors? WHICH FREAKING CASE SHOULD I USE??? Am I competent enough to actually handle the cable management? I'm far too insecure and in dire need of friends. P.S. Yes, I'm aware building is supposedly easy, yet all of these long time professional IT youtubers seem to wreck their PCs on a regular basis and a lot of common people posting comments how they mucked up. So it seems to me like it's people who know what they're doing telling noobies it's easy when it's only easy for THEM, not for us peasants. And sometimes it's hard even for the pros it seems.

Hello, I want to buy a new monitor (my current one is crap ? 1920x1080, 60Hz, TN). I have RTX 2080 and I am 50% time programming on the PC and 50% gaming (mostly FPS - Battlefield, PUBG, etc.) so my requirements are G-Sync, at least 144Hz and better than 1920x1080. I am not sure about the Wide Screen - I am using it at work and it is great but I am not sure how it is with gaming, isn't gaming better on 16:9 ratio? Anyway, my picks are these monitors: Dell Alienware AW3418HW Acer Predator Z321QU Acer Z301C Acer Predator XB271HU Can anyone help me decide which would be better for me and why? Any personal experience with these monitors? Bad ones or good ones? Or would you recommend a different monitor for me? Thanks, everyone for your time ?

Hi I know next to nothing about PCs, but my brother suggested I ask this question here. My wife and I moved to China recently and we are in need of a new gaming PC that is not going to kill us financially. The biggest restriction we currently have to face is that we have to buy it from a site called taobao.com due to our current location. As for pricing, we are looking for something under 10 000RMB (1477USD). (We have to save a few months.) But if it costs more, we can just save a little longer... The games I expect that we will be playing are things like the Deus Ex series, Minecraft, Eder Scrolls series, Beholder, Reus, The Sims 4, Star Wars online, Lord of the Rings (if we are feeling a bit crazy,) Town of Salem, Roll20. If I can be able to play Arc, it would be great, PUBG or Fortnite would be nice. Would you be kind enough to recommend to this noob what I should be looking for in a prebuilt system? If you have peripherals to recommend, I would love to go check it out. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.

Is there any component I can switch to save money? My budget is around $700. Thank you for your help.

So I have an Asrock x399 Taichi with a TR 1950x CPU. I need to get some memory but I am a bit confused. The thing is that I want to start off by 32GB and then later this year upgrade to 128GB (due to that I am getting more money in November but I want to get the build ready asap). What kind of RAM should I buy now so that I just can add more of the same later this year? 1x32GB stick or something else to start with? What speed would you recommend with that MB?
