Hello I recently managed to revive my old acer aspire E1-571 by loading POP! OS on to it. Now that it actually works again is it worth adding some more RAM/swapping for a SSD or is the CPU most likely the thing bottlenecking speed? I am very much a computing novice so any advice would be much appreciated.

VGA white light on mother board PC will not boot. Turns on but I have a blank monitor. I have tried using an HDMI port instead of Display port and that does not work either. I feel like I have tried everything from unplugging and plugging back in all the chords. I took out the CPU and put it back in. I have tried Installing my GPU in a different PC and it works fine. I have removed my Ram and put it back in but still no luck. Any ideas? Feeling pretty upset at this point. - also noted that my power supply fan stops specs rog strix B550-1 motherboard RM750 PSU Samsung 870 evo 500GB ram Vengeance LPX DDr4 2x32 2X sabrent rocet 4 pluse m.2 Geforce RTX gpu CPU ryzen 9 5950

Hardware: Asus G531GU laptop (I7 9750h, GTX 1660ti, 24GB RAM). In theory, the USB Type C should be 3.1 Gen 1 or Gen 2 with DisplayPort support (has the D logo next to it). Gembird Usb 3.1 to HDMI Adapter: https://gembird.com/item.aspx?id=9764 Two different HDMI cables tested. Two different monitors tested (both have VGA and HDMI, but no DisplayPort, hence the adapter). Issue: No luck getting video signal through the Type C port. Tried so far: Updated BIOS to latest version, updated everything related to GPU (both Intel and Nvidia) Am I wrong in assuming that because the port supports DisplayPort it should also work flawlessly with HDMI? If so, how could I get an HDMI signal from it? Maybe another kind of adapter?

Does anyone know how i can make fanaleds work on my logitech g29 with the microsoft store version of forza horizon 4?
-
I don't know how to explain this, but ill try my best. My monitor is showing these lines at the top half of the screen, they variate between the normal pixel that should be showing and a copy of a small line of pixel from the bottom of the monitor. I've already tried changing cables, changing ports, changing cables and ports, changing drivers, updating drivers, reinstalling drivers, leaving the monitor to rest for 2 days, changing monitor settings (vsync, resolution, Hz) and changing computers I just don't know if it's just broken. It also kinda happened randomly while I was doing homework, it worked fine for like 2 hours and then just started glitching around monitor: AOC 24G2U5/BK Monitor

I cannot get any internet connection through my ethernet port
kerchunga posted a topic in Networking
I have been stuck on a slow inconsistent wifi card for days now, when that's even working. I cannot get any internet through my router to my computer or through my TP-link powerline only through the wifi built into my motherboard, I very recently upgraded to this powerline and all was fine until it started cutting out for hours at a time, and eventually stopped working entirely I've tried everything I can find online, including a complete windows reinstall, which would lead you to believe that it's hardware, but I cannot find any faults with the port, and it still connects to the network, just not to the internet it says "no internet access your device is connected and can access devices on your network but may not be able to reach the internet" please help me this is so frustrating, oh and yes the powerline gives internet to my laptop, so it's not that.- 5 replies

Hey guys, I am looking for a build for around 850$ CAN BEFORE tax to do 1080p gaming, video game creation with the unity game engine and other generic office stuff (Web surfing, Microsoft office) but mostly gaming. Can you guys suggest a PCPP parts list PLZ! Also, for bonus points, maybe tell me what you predict the performance the build should achieve (EX: this build should make XX FPS in XXXXX game at XXX settings.) Some suggestion: A case good for noobs (This will be my fist ever PC build, so something easy to build in [ATX or Micro ATX] ) A 1TB HDD (SSD not necessary, but would be appreciated) Quad-core intel core i5. Networking card/adapter. Windows 10 64 bit. All help EXTREMELY appreciated!!!

I've just returned from vacation to log on to my computer and be greeted by that wonderful red X signifying a lose of internet. Windows troubleshooter states their is no driver so when I went to attempt and instal the driver (Killer Network driver from MSI website) I'm greeted with another message stating I must have proper killer hardware installed. I'm a bit frazzled as it worked just fine before I left but ceases to operate upon my return. I'm running my laptop off the same cable so it's either my mother board or something software related. Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Is my mobo in need of a replacement? Hello guys im very sad atm of writing this, today my brand new 1080 died after 3 weeks. After playing Overwatch for 2 hours on QHD 2560 x 1440 graphics settings on epic. My screen started to flicker on very strange colors ending on an unresponsive os. Tried to reebot to no avail getting a black screen everytime. Now i switched back to my r9 390x and everything is fine. Tried the following: - Changed PCI Express Slots - Changed PCI Energy Cables - Switched to HDMI, Display port and DVI-D on the gpu outputs (Different Screens) - Cried a lot... I managed to record a short video showing what i described earlier. PS: Should i give up on my GPU? Is there a way to repair it? or RMA it Asap? on a side note the only thing i did to my gpu was using the default oc mode with gpu tweak 2 as explained by luke on the review of this card y_y. Also i didn't noticed nothing unusual with my gpu. Temps were okay around 80c max due to settings. No Weird Sounds, nor smells or sparks. Any advice will be much appreciated, thank you for your time. 20170518_204804_1.mp4

So I built my first build about a month or two ago and have been having the CPU led stay on, which is a diagnostic light, and have been getting no display on my moniter throughout the entire time and have been attempting ever since been trying to troubleshoot and fix the problem. I've tried checking all connections, having the bear minimum set up, checking for a bent pin and making sure I have the correct orientation of my CPU, having no and different places with RAM, taking out the battery from the mobo for 15 seconds, and putting my mobo outside of the case on nonconducter and starting up. This has been a bit of a frustrating process especially after finally building my first computer and if i cant find the issue I'm going to just get it looked at by someone who knows better than I but if someone here could help me that would be greatly appreciated by both me and my wallet. Thank you in advance!! Here is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wZCMFd

Ok: I am building my first PC and I was wondering, how amazing really are SSD's because I was thinking of not getting one to save $$. If I didn't get an ssd right away I would probably get one later on. I would still use a 7200RPM 1TB HDD. Help appreciated!

Hey All, I hope all is well I just watched LTT recent video about upgrading the wifi And I just have a small question, I am currently living in a place where broadband is super slow I mean like less than 1 MB in download and less than 100 kB in upload and, I am currently connecting to the Internet through an unlimited plan from the phone provider through a 4G Sim inside a router, I recently started buying computer parts to build my first computer to start gaming/streaming/video editing, however with those terrible speeds I’m unable to do so and when I test the 4G speed it’s actually kind of decent, you can reach up to 30 to 40 MB download And 10 to 15 MB of upload, my main question however would be the ping or latency in video game, so I was hoping if you can help me find a good 4G Sim card router that will give me good speed and at the same time low latency for video games and streaming at the same time. Hello! My name is FrostyFryy (Frosty for short), and I am currently a Mac user. However, I have decided to switch over and build a PC for reasons I'll get into in section 5. The short of it is, I have a PC list put together, but I want to make sure nothing is going to throttle anything else. Here is the parts list I put together (mainly from a bunch of Linus videos with my own modifications so it is my fault if it doesn't work -_-) PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU Intel - Core i7-8700 3.2 GHz 6-Core Processor $294.99 @ Walmart CPU Cooler Cooler Master - Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition 57.3 CFM CPU Cooler $36.99 @ Amazon Thermal Compound Arctic Silver - 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver 3.5 g Thermal Paste $6.39 @ OutletPC Motherboard Gigabyte - Z390 UD ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $114.99 @ Amazon Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory $159.89 @ OutletPC Storage ADATA - Ultimate SU800 256 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $39.99 @ Amazon Storage Seagate - BarraCuda 4 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive $84.99 @ Amazon Video Card Zotac - GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB GAMING AMP Video Card $367.99 @ SuperBiiz Case Corsair - Carbide SPEC-06 ATX Mid Tower Case $69.98 @ Newegg Power Supply EVGA - BR 600 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply $59.89 @ OutletPC Monitor Dell - D2719HGF 27.0" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor $179.99 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $1441.08 Mail-in rebates -$25.00 Total $1416.08 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-04-26 07:40 EDT-0400 1. Budget & Location Budget is somewhere in the range of $1000-1500, I originally wanted to go as cheap as possible, but I now want to make sure what I'm getting will last a while before upgrading is required. I'm located on the East Coast of the United State of America, and currently I was planning on buying everything online. 2. Aim THIS is where it gets tricky. My aim is almost as varied as a stormtrooper attempting to stop Luke. It ranges from video editing and color grading with effects, to 3D modeling and gaming. As for the editing, I use Premiere and After Effects, and I use them quite heavily. For the gaming (yay for gaming) side of things, I'd love to be able to play R6 Siege, and other 3D games that I have not been able to enjoy for the past decade or so. 3. Monitors Ahhhhhh the monitor/monitors. I'm planning on getting a 1920-1080 monitor with 144hz refresh rate. Honestly I went with this because it was only $179 and it fit my budget. In the future I'd like to upgrade to two monitors, or a ultra wide curved. 4. Peripherals I currently have a Razer keyboard, a $10 mouse, and a few pairs of headphones and in-ears, so I should be good on peripherals. 5. Why are you upgrading? Okay, so this is where it gets fun. Right now I am running off of a 2012 MacBook Pro, and the only Windows laptop we have is running Vista. Needless to say, my gaming and video editing has been almost non-existent. At this point Premiere Pro struggles to even open on my Mac, and the computer itself will randomly shut down without warning. I need to upgrade (it has been faaaaaaar too long), and instead of shelling out over $3000 for a new MacBook Pro, I decided to try the PC route to maximize the potential of my dollar. I hope ya'll can help, as I am in waaaaaaaayyyyyyy over my head with this one, I feel like Linus attempting to work off an iMac. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps! -Frosty

Hello, my PC is windows, I need to mount a virtual machine to use a program that my computer is not able to run. I have no idea about computer science, I have an engineer friend who helps me with this, but now he can't help me. I rented an Ubuntu server, now I have to create a virtual windows machine in order to use the program there. My friend handed me an .ova file with windows to open the virtual machine, but yesterday I was trying to import the file and an error was jumping. (I tried to put it in an image). At first another error was skipping, but it was solved by decompressing the .ova file and opening the .ovf file The problem is that when you finish installing the following error jumps Yesterday I was reading online but as I do not understand computer science I was not able to solve it. Sorry for my english and thanks

And it's keep lagging for some reason, Do I need to change my CPU or do I need to change my Hard drive? I can't do both, and I can barely do one of those. Considering i5 3th gen cpu or 120gb ssd again. Please help what is wrong with my pc
