Hey, I am a new user. I use a potato to game, and in the near future, I look forward to upgrading from my dual-core 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo, with 2GB of DDR2 RAM, with an Intel integrated chipset in a laptop from '09; to an Intel Core i5-6500, with 8GB of DDR4-2400 Crucial Ballistix Sport LT, and a GTX 1050 2GB. I started getting into PCs and Hardware, and maybe even servers soon, a couple of years ago, when my brother built his own. From the eastern US, thank you for welcoming me.

Hi there Linus tech tips community! I'm Liz and I'm new here *waves*. My husband got me into all the wonderful videos Linus and his team make I just love the tips, the know-how, the news... and the humour! So I thought it might be time to register with the community^^ I was asking myself if there is a project ongoing to subtitle Linus' videos and translate them into other languages. I'm from Bavaria in Germany (the land of beer, Oktoberfest and, of course, socks and sandals) and I have quite a few friends who would love the videos, but don't speak English. Cheers, Liz

Does it really matter what SSD I get? Can you really notice a difference? I'm thinking of the corsair force LE, and the SAMSUNG 850-Series EVO but there is such a big price difference between them (even at the same size (here in Sweden atleast)) I know no one cares... but what do you guys recommend?

Hello everyone, i have a issue that bothers me, it's that when i try to set up a fingerprint with Windows Hello, y select "Set Up" asks my pin, then i introduce it but then nothing happends, only i hear a "Denied Sound" but not an actual new windows marking me a error or code, i tried reinstalling drivers, even making a fresh install of windows and nothing works, sometimes, that's very rare to happen after some restarts it pass, and works fine, but then i shut down and turn on or restart and i put my fingerprint and then says "Your Pin is required to use fingerprint" even waking from sleep, here is the model of the laptop, i searched in the Event Viewer and here's the error that gives me to set up the fingerprint Error ID 10016 The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160} and APPID {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276} to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. And other that i think is related to: Error ID 2484 Package Microsoft.BioEnrollment_10.0.16299.15_neutral__cw5n1h2txyewy+App was terminated because it took too long to suspend. Laptop HP model 13-d005la Here's also a video of what happen when i try to set up I hope that someone here can help me please

Hey all! New User here just saying hello for the first time. I've been a long time lurker but first time account type person. I'm always trying to be friendly so feel free to contact me if you want! Looking forward to meeting a few people between the pages of the forum!

Hey, Thanks for checking my topic! I've been watching LTT videos for about a year now and finally decided to check the forums. I've posted a bit since i had a few questions but i thought id say hello to those that are friendly on here. Hi my dad was the IT manager for a hudson's bay HQ here in Canada so i've always had computer stuff around for most of my life. adding memory to my pcs, switching out nvidia gpus for ATI gpus, swapping internals from 1 pc to another. i've never had to buy computer parts but transferring from console gaming about a year ago, i've been opened up to a new world.... that i've always been apart of. Hopefully i'll be able to add to this community and help when/where i can. also, how long will i be a labeled a "newbie" for?

Hello there! I am a new member, and I found out about this forum because of my friend. I am very happy to be part of a wonderful community of tech geeks, and I am looking forward to establish a friendly relationship with all! Currently I am not an expert in any genre of technology, but I think Wiki Code counts, so yeah. thanks, Michal

Just wanna say Hi, I'm the new Irishman around here, snip snip snip (don't want to break the rules so I removed my video) Now lets all just relax and have a few drinks and pretend this incident never happened. Also. These aren't the droids you're looking for.....

Hello Everyone, About 90% sure this is where to post this... Nice to meet you all, long time viewer, first time forum member. Hope you're all having a decent day today. Just popping in to say hi.

Hello people. My name is Royce. I just joined the forums, even though I've been watching every single Linus Tech tips video for a few months now, and I just want to say hi! I'm the idiot who can perfectly waste $1000. About 1,5 years ago I had the opportunity to get a PC for about $1000. Ended up with an R9 390, bottlenecking FX-8320 in an ASUS M5A99X Evo2.0, with the cheapest 240mm AIO (being a deepcool Maelstrom) squeezed into an Aerocool Battlehawk case (that's right, that case has no support for liquid cooling), which has a quite shit airflow, especially since the frontal built in fan died. The Cable management is terrible, since the space in the back of the case is so small, that the 12V motherboard power cable does not fit there, there isn't a even much possibility for good management and my PSU is not modular at all. So yeah, it's from the time when I barely had any idea about PCs... I don't really have the opportunity to get any upgrades, and even if I had, I have no clue where to begin... Here is a picture of this abomination... I feel ashamed. Even though I have not-the-best hardware, I'm trying to make content (Rainbow Six Siege) on YouTube. A bit of self advertising: I'd appreciate if you would press the like button on that instagram post, cause it's part of a competition, prize being better hardware. (How much does this last part violate the rules?)

Hey guys! Just dropped in from watching Linus....again and finally decided to join the forums! So, that aside, I thought I would throw my project in here because I don't know where to put this. I plan to make a pair of shadow boxes with Intel and AMD processors. I want to start out with the 8086 generation and possibly go up to first generation core, and their AMD equivalents. If any one would know where I could find these old guys, let me know. I am not sure if I want to do ALL of them or just the flagships. I will still have to do some research into how many there are

Look at me, posting build plans and not even introducing myself. Hey everybody I'm Ratchet! Happy to be here. Been a console gamer for a long time and very recently broke into PC world wanting to build my own rig. Gotta say the research has been a lot of fun and this community has been real helpful in the few minutes I've been on this forum. I hope one day i can be just as helpful to new comers like me! Very impressed!

I'm gonna say 'Hi' here like it says. So... Hello! A good friend introduced me to computer building during my freshman year in high school (2016), and I learned a lot about how computers were put together with his help. We had a lot of spare time in our keyboarding class, so we spent it mostly drooling over imaginary computers we put together on the System Builder. I loved repairing/building/upgrading friends and family member's computers and still do to this day, but it was my sophomore year around Christmas when I would finally get my own. My parents took notice of my interest in computers and decided to let me give them a parts list rather than a Christmas list that year. This was my first computer build and is still the one I use today. Other than small modifications I make here and there to increase performance, my first build is still holding strong

Hi everyone - this is kinda my member introduction I guess? It's very nice to meet everyone - I first found Linus through his youtube videos and one of the ones I remember watching first was the video where their wives competed to build a PC. I've been binge watching Linus videos ever since and enjoy him reviewing all types of wacky and interesting new products and tech gizmos. I am a 19 year old computer science student at the University of Surrey in the UK. I'm currently suffering from severe depression and anxiety as well as chronic pain and a possible high functioning autism diagnosis. I've recently lost my accomodation, lost thousands of pounds of money (due to personal circumstances) and a lot of my friends aren't talking to me. However; I am pushing through and doing my best to get better. I think it's about time for me to finally leave my mark on this world and hopefully it will be a big postive mark. I actually would like the opportunity to have Linus mentor me and teach me about technology and provide some work for me; I have a lot of ideas and invention concepts for new gadgets and gizmos as well as ideas on how to improve and modify existing tech. Unfortunately due to my mental health I haven't been able to fully formalize or create any of these yet - but I am working my hardest on making them a reality. I've really started to push my mental health after enduring it for six years. My university course currently has a placement year; of which I was thinking about applying to Linus' company. I have already sent him a pm and an email about this and may make a post about it later. I have many interesting thoughts and ideas I want to share with the world and was thinking of becoming a youtuber to do so. I may edit this post later if this was too immature or naive or if people have feedback or want to support me somehow. I will also add a link to some of my posts in the future if that is allowed? Thank you very much everyone for reading through this. P.S Please keep a lookout for my name/user tags if you want: Yang-Jian Zhou/yjzhou/yjchess/chesscraft as I plan on creating a startup/youtube channel and making it big one day. Also as a random question: Do anyone of you here play starcraft 2? Just out of curiousity. I'd also like to add that I've already started asking some questions regarding tech and other information in other forums; I will be adding the tag yjzhou to my posts if that is allowed? Thanks everyone for reading! Would love to meet you all Posts made by me (If this is not allowed please tell me and delete it I am very sorry if I have done anything wrong): https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1149882-smartglasses-information-wanted/
