The Seven Deadly Sins Current This series was recommended by @Xsinar saying "It has a lot of action and lovable characters that makes you want more. It's a recommended watch for all the Shounen Anime lovers out there. It has it's downsides but Melodias and his Pig won't fail to keep you entertained. P.S. Beware of Groping" Synopsis In a world similar to the European Middle Ages, the feared yet revered Holy Knights of Britannia use immensely powerful magic to protect the region of Britannia and its kingdoms. They were defeated by the Holy Knights, but rumors continued to persist that these legendary knights, called the "Seven Deadly Sins," were still alive. Ten years later, the Holy Knights themselves staged a coup d’état, and thus became the new, tyrannical rulers of the Kingdom of Liones. Based on the best-selling manga series of the same name, Nanatsu no Taizai follows the adventures of Elizabeth, the third princess of the Kingdom of Liones, and her search for the Seven Deadly Sins. Read more at MAL Sunday Without God Recent This series was recommended by @TetraSky saying "or the simple reason that it's one of those anime that had me captivated from the very beginning and I couldn't stop watching, just had to see all the episodes in one go. It's an Adventure/Action anime that provide a well-told story and should cater to a relatively large audience, as it doesn't really show the gory stuff most of the time and the "drama" isn't that large (nothing compared to, say, Clannad). Don't be put off by the title as I first was, it's not a religious anime in the least. (Unless you consider Death as being part of religion)" Synopsis God abandoned the world on Sunday. The main character Lelouch is one of my favorite male protagonists and many others for one pretty simple reason, he actually has a complex character structure and make himself seem human which pulls you right into wanting to see what he does and sympathize with him." & " I like to think about it as a Death Note with mechas. It has a very smart protagonist who is a strategic and tactical genius, who gets a magical power and starts his glorious quest to topple an empire that controls a third of the world. The musical score is also very good. The national anthem of the "bad guys" always sends shivers down my spine. It is an all time favorite of mine that I rewatch yearly. As far as story goes it's pretty much the usual were you follow around the characters with 'unique' personalities around, in this case 6 girls, and see what interesting situations each day brings them!" Synopsis Azumanga Daioh is about high school life through the eyes of six girls with unusual personalities: Chiyo (the 10-year-old genius), Osaka (the resident airhead), Sakaki (the shy one prone to cat bites), Tomo (the loose cannon), Yomi (the short-tempered one) and Kagura (the resident jock). Halloween Week! Week 64 is upon us! Choose the spooky(or not spooky at all) series you'd like to watch this week! As usual polling will last around 48 hours! Shiki Synopsis Fifteen-year-old Megumi Shimizu dreamed of a glamorous life in the big city; however, her unexpected death in the quiet village of Sotoba marks the beginning of what appears to be a ferocious epidemic that turns the hot summer into a season of blood and terror. A young doctor named Toshio Ozaki begins to doubt the nature of the disease and comes to understand that to discover the truth, he must abandon his humanity. Meanwhile, Natsuno Yuuki, an antisocial youth from the city, is haunted by the sudden death of Megumi and must realize the pain of friendship in the face of his own tragedy. Toshio and Natsuno form an unlikely pair as they work together to save Sotoba before it transforms into a ghost town of vampires. Wolf Girl and Black Prince Current This series was recommended by @Oshino Shinobu saying "It's a comedy/romance anime, kind of similar to Kaichou wa Maid-Sama in the sort of 'feeling' of the anime. Has some very funny moments and a pretty refreshing (somewhat unconventional) romance story." Synopsis The story centers around Erika Shinohara, a vain 16-year-old girl who tells her friends about her romantic exploits, but she actually has no boyfriend. She claims that a handsome boy in a candid photo is her boyfriend, but it turns out that boy is a schoolmate named Kyouya Sata. She has no choice but to make him her fake boyfriend. Unfortunately, Sata may look like a sweet person, but he is actually an ultra-black-hearted sadist. Read more at MAL Gungrave Pre-2007 This series was recommended by @gastew15 and @TheProfosist saying "Gungrave is an interesting one, if you skip episode 1(Which I recommend you do) it starts out with Bradon's & Harry's rise to power in a mafia group. The first half of the story is really solid, but it starts to break off from there where it's still interesting to watch, but not in the same way as it stops being realistically interesting and turns kind of absurd.. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good show, but it shifts gears pretty massively mid way through, so keep that in mind. Overall the characters are interesting and all contribute in some way to the story and make it seem much more real besides just the main characters. Synopsis Satou Tatsuhiro, a 22 year old young man, is a NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training) and a hikikomori (meaning acute social withdrawal). He believes everything around him is a conspiracy, including the reason why many people, himself included, become hikikomori. Due to this, Satou creates a strange conspiracy theory which includes the Nihon Hikikomori Kyōkai (NHK), a secret organization with the intention of producing a hikikomori filled world. Satou intends to break free from the NHK's clutches, but cannot, since he finds it too frightening to go outdoors by himself; that is, until he meets Misaki Nakahara, who selects Satou for her "project" that she claims will cure him of his hikikomori ways. This Week's Anime! Gurren Lagann Synopsis In a faraway future, mankind lives underground in huge caves, unknowing of a world above with a sky and stars. In the small village of Jiha, Simon, a shy boy who works as a digger discovers a strange glowing object during excavation. The enterprising Kamina, a young man with a pair of rakish sunglasses and the passion of a fiery sun, befriends Simon and forms a small band of brothers, the Gurren Brigade, to escape the village and break through the ceiling of the cave to reach the surface, which few believe exist. The village elder won't hear of such foolishness and punishes the Brigade. However, when disaster strikes from the world above and the entire village is in jeopardy, it's up to Simon, Kamina, a girl with a big gun named Yoko, and the small yet sturdy robot, Lagann, to save the day. The new friends journey to the world above and find that the surface is a harsh battlefield, and it's up to them to fight back against the rampaging Beastmen to turn the tide in the humans' favor! This Week's Anime! xxxHOLiC Synopsis Kimihiro Watanuki can see spirits and other assorted supernatural creatures, which is quite a bothersome ability he strongly dislikes. On the way home one day, while plagued by some spirits, he is inexplicably compelled to enter a strange house. There, he encounters Yuuko, a mysterious woman who claims to be able to rid him of the ability to see and attract the troublesome creatures—for a price. She demands that he work at her "store" that grants wishes to people, and thus begins Kimihiro's adventures through weird and wonderful events. Fairy Tail Current This series was recommended by @Trogdor8freebird saying "This anime provides an excellent blend of action, lighthearted tone, story, and even a certain kind of feels. Most characters are enjoyable to watch, and there are many of them. The action sequences are short and not as desirable as they could be UNTIL season 2 onward. The combat afterwards is intense and as lengthy as they should be, imo. It's a show that gives a lighthearted, yet powerful aura for both younger and older viewers. The show has many funny moments in it as well, and it's done better than in most shows that are primarily comedic imo. Ghost in the Shell Synopsis In the year 2029, the barriers of our world have been broken down by the net and by cybernetics, but this brings new vulnerability to humans in the form of brain-hacking. When a highly-wanted hacker known as 'The Puppetmaster' begins involving them in politics, Section 9, a group of cybernetically enhanced cops, are called in to investigate and stop the Puppetmaster. The pursuit will call into question what makes a human and what is the Puppetmaster in a world where the distinction between human and machine is increasingly blurry. This Week's Anime! Non Non Biyori Synopsis Asahigaoka might look like typical, boring countryside to most; however, no day in this village can ever be considered colorless thanks to five students of varying ages occupying the only class in the only school in town. The youngest student is first grader Renge Miyauchi, who brings an unadulterated wit, curiosity, and her characteristic catchphrase, "Nyanpasu!" Then there are the Koshigaya siblings consisting of the quiet ninth grader and elder brother Suguru, diminutive eighth grader Komari, and the mischievous seventh grader Natsumi, whose appearance may fool you at first thanks to her constantly emulating her more mature older sister. The recent arrival of Tokyo-raised fifth grader Hotaru Ichijou, who appears overdeveloped for her age and thus naturally holds an air of maturity, rounds out this lively and vibrant group of five classmates. While its a story made for children (playing in the same fantasy land as Seirei no Moribito), Kemono no Souja Erin addresses adult topics at a mature level. The target audiences’ age is somewhat irrelevant, because the characters bloom, especially Erin. She’s a child character the viewer can admire and adore. Following her journey through childhood and into her teenage years, she comes to life as one of the most well developed characters I’ve come across. Coupled with nicely fitting music and a special artstyle this anime is a real "hidden gem"." Synopsis Erin is a young girl who lives with her mother in a village which raises war-lizards, called Touda. We see her daily life, which changes as she grows up. Meanwhile, there is growing tension between the two provinces of the country she lives in. Based on the fantasy series written by Uehashi Nahoko, also known for Seirei no Moribito. This Week's Anime! Welcome to the N.H.K. Synopsis Satou Tatsuhiro, a 22 year old young man, is a NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training) and a hikikomori (meaning acute social withdrawal). He believes everything around him is a conspiracy, including the reason why many people, himself included, become hikikomori. Due to this, Satou creates a strange conspiracy theory which includes the Nihon Hikikomori Kyōkai (NHK), a secret organization with the intention of producing a hikikomori filled world. Satou intends to break free from the NHK's clutches, but cannot, since he finds it too frightening to go outdoors by himself; that is, until he meets Misaki Nakahara, who selects Satou for her "project" that she claims will cure him of his hikikomori ways. This Week's Anime! Shiki Synopsis Fifteen-year-old Megumi Shimizu dreamed of a glamorous life in the big city; however, her unexpected death in the quiet village of Sotoba marks the beginning of what appears to be a ferocious epidemic that turns the hot summer into a season of blood and terror. A young doctor named Toshio Ozaki begins to doubt the nature of the disease and comes to understand that to discover the truth, he must abandon his humanity. Meanwhile, Natsuno Yuuki, an antisocial youth from the city, is haunted by the sudden death of Megumi and must realize the pain of friendship in the face of his own tragedy. Toshio and Natsuno form an unlikely pair as they work together to save Sotoba before it transforms into a ghost town of vampires. Shiki, adapted from the horror novel written by Fuyumi Ono, goes beyond the average vampire story. It tells the tragic tale of survival in a world where one cannot easily distinguish between good and evil. Abandoned by God, the Shiki, as the vampires call themselves, have only their will to live as they clash with the fear of the paranoid/unbelieving villagers. Week 59 is upon us. I have decided to make this a special recap week as is anime tradition as well as encouraging people to watch the anime if they haven't done so yet I would also like to encourage people to read the manga that is associated with it. But after his mother, who was also his instructor, passed away, he had a mental breakdown while performing at a recital that resulted in him no longer being able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing was perfectly fine. Even two years later, Kousei hasn't touched the piano and views the world in monotone, and without any flair or color. He was content at living out his life with his good friends Tsubaki and Watari until, one day, a girl changed everything. Miyazono Kaori is a pretty, free spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her personality. Kaori helps Kousei return to the music world and show that it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigid style Kousei was used to. Shokugeki no Souma Synopsis Yukihira Souma's dream is to become a full-time chef in his father's restaurant and surpass his father's culinary skill. But just as Yukihira graduates from middle school, his father, Yukihira Jouichirou, closes down the restaurant to cook in Europe. Although downtrodden, Souma's fighting spirit is rekindled by a challenge from Jouichirou which is to survive in an elite culinary school where only 10% of the students graduate. Can Souma survive? Seeing Yukiteru's miserable state, Deus gives him a new ability. His diary will now record events that will happen in the near future. Tokyo Ghoul Current This was suggested by @Youbetternot saying "It is a Action packed anime. It's one of those typical main character is weak, later on finds a girl that gives him crazy powers. However the twist in this anime is that, it actually has a decent plot." A lot has changed during his time in Tokyo, one of the major ones being one of his childhood friends, Yatsushiro Nakana who used to be really nice and sweet but has now become gloomy. I suggested this anime because it is the second anime I saw and possibly one of the deciding factors of getting me hooked into watching animes, though it is a short anime, I felt like it has a very interesting story, a beautiful setting, and a good choice of music and art style. Though it might not live up to today's standards, it has a special place in my heart and in my opinion is an anime worth watching."
