I have a really hard time controlling how much time I spend on my iPhone. Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, Subway Surfers etc. they just suck me right in every time I grab my iPhone. I have tried and considered multiple different alternatives, and so far nothing has really helped: Limit Screen Time in iOS Settings for these apps: didn't help because you can continuously just click on the button to get more screen time. Delete addicting apps: made it super annoying to communicate with my friends since we communicate in group chats on Snapchat and a lot of features (like video messages) doesn't work on the Snapchat web app for desktops. Also, it was very easy to just re-download these apps. Buy an old "dumb" phone: since I have my own business I need to always have quick access to email, which is impossible on an old phone. Also, being able to get notifications if one of my stock investments suddenly would drop is really important. I might try to always have my iPhone's battery charged <20% so I can only use it for important SMS, email, and pay for food/travel with Apple Pay. Feels a little bit scary if the battery would die, though... I also though I could enable Down Time in iOS settings and have an advanced long passcode for it that I keep in my drawer at home (so I can't access it at work), but apparently you can only enable this for kids (if I'm not mistaken). Yes I know I should just stop, but that's not how addiction works. What's your guys experience with this?

I have an iPhone and an Apple Watch and my friend has an Android phone with a built-in step counter. We’re looking for a step counter app that allows us to see each others daily step counts to motivate each other. Preferably the app is free and pulls data from my Apple Watch/Apple Health-app automatically, so I don’t have to open the app multiple times per day for it to sync. Any suggestions?

Hello Everyone! I've been rather concerned with my laptops behaviour the last few months it's been confusing me a tad. I'll try to be as detailed as I can. It an HP's pavilion gaming laptop(Ryzen 5, Gtx1650) 1. The laptop has only been slow on Shutdowns, Restarts and startups recently. 2. Every so often it would green screen for a second or two and continue to boot into windows. Error code is something to do with memory. 3. The laptop was sent for an SSD and Ram upgrade. Unfortunately, the dude I sent it to was a bit of a showman and never did the upgrade. Took about three weeks to get the laptop back from this dude, after I had a lawyer get ahold of him as he didn't reply to any of my messages and such. Anyways, to get back to my point. The laptop since then has been rarher, weird.... I found a substantial amount of just weird programs and software. Additionally, lot of drivers and such that has either no signature or has been flagged as possibly malicious. 4. Quite a number of things listed in Device manager doesn't seem to make any real sense. 5. Software or drivers seem to have disappeared since the laptop came back. 6. Two caps on the keyboard is missing since I got it back( This is me just ranting) The most worrying symptoms are thus: 1. It would green screen at random times. 2. No real difference in speed after booting into windows. Only on the restart, shutdown and startups. 3. Runs hotter than usual - thermals reaching up to 95'C at times(Upon Gaming and heavy use) 4. Lastly, The various missing and drivers and the sketchy drivers. My self diagnoses is thus: the kink in the Armour is within some of these sketchy drivers and software. Here's what I've done to try and see if I can Fix it: I downloaded a script called tron which has been known to be HP friendly and specifically get rid of bloatware, Malware, cookie data analysis ect ect. Basically an all in one script to combat the issues. Alas, It would seem that the laptop still has issues. If anything, it did get rid of HP's bloatware but as of the main issues such as the drivers and such, It's still there and I'm so uncomfortable with it. I've checked the startup apps via task manager and most of the startup apps are still disabled( Something I did before sending it to this dude) I've tried to make semse of the event viewer and registry editor but my comprehension just isn't enough for me to understand or see if anything is wrong within those two. I ran Malwarebytes(Via the Tron script) it definitely found some bugs and maliciously installed stuff and it's been quarantined but it's not changed the behavior, unfortunately. Conclusion to this is that I fear this dude tampered with my laptop and probably had no intention of giving it back. So when he was forced to give it back I assume he probably was in a "I better try and get it back to the way it was in" state. With all this said, I'll be forever grateful to anyone who is willing to pass on some suggestions and ideas as to try and get the laptop back into shape. I'm willing to try anything at this point. I spent my entire savings on this laptop when I bought it. and would hate to see it fall victim to a untimely demise. It's just over two years old and it's truly a lovely machine. I've listed the specs on my profile and such. Ps: Did a windows reset and reinstall to no prevail.

is there a way to make apple health to sync data from google fit? I was able to get google fit to sync with apple health app but not the other way around. I use the apple health app primarily since I have a apple watch, but I can only use the google fit app with my schwinn 810 treadmill. I can't get the apple health app to connect to the treadmill and my watch won't count the steps since my hands are on the rails.

I recently purchased a Kingspec m.2 2242 SSD. It was performing well for the first few days, but after some usage, the health quickly lowers to 99%. I assumed the temperature would be the cause, so I continued using it until today, when the SSD's health reduces to 98%. Should I be concerned given that the SSD's power on-time is only 492 hours i.e 20 days and 11 hours?

I own a Fitbit, but am considering an Apple Watch Series 7 because of Fitbit’s problem with bugs and their tendency to hide more and more features behind a paywall (subscription). Fitbit has amazing automatic sleep tracking, which is great since I have very varying sleep routines, but what about the Apple Watch? Can anyone that with experience of the Apple Watch explain: If it has any automatic sleep tracking at all, or is it strictly tied to the manual schedule that you specify? Is it good for anyone with very varying sleep routines? How’s the quality of the sleep tracking? Are you forced to use the “Sleep” focus mode in order for it to register your sleep?

Am interested in what exactly is hard drive healt. I have hdd 4TB that died and now i can see it in task manager, but it has no letter assigned. Also it isnt shown in file explorer. In hdd sentinel it says that hard disk performance is maximum but health is only 20% and there is 244 bad sectors.

I was curious to find out at what age do members of this forum feel they are at their peak age or the typical phrase 'Over The Hill'? Mine was around 48 years of age and I don't know why but that was the Over the hil age for me.

My boot drive SSD is showing a health percentage of 68% - is that a cause for concern? It's not showing any errors on the drive though - note that I've been using this SSD for about 5 and a half years now. P.S. Don't worry about the Caution warning on the other drive - I've backed up my stuff and have a new SSD on the way to replace that old HDD.

I'm quite worried about my CPU's, not that any of them are showing any obvious signs of wear and tear but I do know they don't last forever. While I'm considering buying spare ones in the unlikely event any of mine dies, I'm wondering how I can check the health and lifespan of my currently installed CPUs on either Windows or Linux. I like the advertised features of the Fitbit Charge 5, but I really don't like the idea of supporting the nonsense of paying monthly for features the watch already has built in (What's the point in paying for a sensor I can't even use long term?). Thankfully, there's a 6 months free trial and apparently the possibility of getting more free time due to possible glitch according to reddit. I also wonder if factory resetting the watch and clearing the phone's cache / re-installing the phone app would also give more free trial time, if anyone knows, plz let me know as that would make this decision far easier to make. Anyway, I've been doing a lot of digging around on review and compare websites, most of which having misleading information, but I can't seem to find anything with the same features or better for a similar price. I don't care at all about smartphone features or music or GPS or even call or text stuff. I only care about fitness and health related features and if possible the best water resistance rating as possible as I plan to swim long distances with it on (so minimum 5ATM). From what I've seen, the EDA scan and skin temp variation are the difficult ones to find in a watch. SpO2, HRV and ECG seem to be much more common now. Has anyone gone through as much or more digging around into this area and can fill me in on what's out there that I may have missed? Right now, I can get a Charge 5 "pebble only", 2 custom wristbands and an original charger (all separate purchases) for a total of around $150CAD. I doubt I can get a better price than that, but I don't want to spend much more than that either. Also, keep in mind that I'm the kind of person who very proudly bought a Samsung M30s (suggested by a user from here, thanks again btw) and enjoys the 2 weeks of phone battery life between charges. I'm not one of those high schoolers that prefers flashy stuff over function. I'm nearing middle age with plenty of health issues (mostly sleep related) and a recent interest in some exercise, hence the reason for wanting to buy one. EDIT: Lack of response made me just buy the Charge 5. I just hope I don't regret it.

After 4 months of usage i today checked my ssd health only to find it at 97% , i am concerned. IS IT a concerning matter?

As the title says , This is NOT a brand new HDD since ps3 Hdd's are no where to be found where i live i could've bought a brand new one but its for my little brother and he was impatient. The hard as i said was not new so while he was installing a game he noticed it took longer than usual before the upgrade (Since the ps3 we had was a 12gb) and we upgraded to 500 , i checked the hard drive using Hard Disk Sentinel and to my surprise it has 90% health and 16 weak sectors. and now he is paranoid (as well as i am) over the whole thing since we can't really return it anymore. Should we be concerned ? We haven't noticed any performance losses or crashes or weird noises or anything to be fair. IT is also a Toshiba 500 GB 2.5" inch hard drive.

Hey all, So I had this thought for quite a while but I'm not sure if it is even possible to even do this. So basically I had the idea of what if you could somehow connect the led strips on your desk to your pc and when you are playing a game like csgo it could light up according to the amount of health you have. So the strips would change red if you had low health, orange for medium and green for full health and this could all change automatically during the game. Would this be possible to do and would you think it would be an interesting video to watch on LTT? What are your thoughts?

My Spec : i5 7600, gtx 1060 6gb, Corsair vengance, 1 x 16gb Ram, asus b250f gaming Mobo. While installing Cooler Master Hyper 212x i forgot add additional washer(fig D) to spacer/screw (fig E) and then when i tried to screw (fig B over fig E)it doesnt reach so at that time i applied more push pressure over cpu lid / surface, later i found my mistake and fixed it wright. after installation done i power on and played GTA V and saw FPS drop on most demanding area in GTA V. I was worried i might broke the Cpu by pressing too hard on the mobo, now how can i check my cpu health status? how can i check my cpu health status? pls tell me

So I recently got a Epson EH-TW5300 projector, and it came with a warning saying that people with cardiac pacemakers should not be in the vicinity when the device is turned on... My grandpa has a pacemaker, and I am not too sure if it is safe for him. (I am not sure how large this 'vicinity' is, as it doesn't specify.) I don't see why a projector should have any bad effects on a pacemaker...? The other warning states that a person should be at least 30cm away from the projector, but that doesn't seem to be related. Does anyone know about this?

I have used a Kingston A400 120G SSD for about a year and 4 months as a boot drive(with a few other programs and smaller games that i needed to be faster) and its wear indicator is at 86%. And from what i have read it made me believe it is a pretty significant decrease in this period of time, but i was not too worried because the performance and Spare Blocks indicators are at 100%. ( It has lifetime writes of 9.56 TB with a power on time of 253 days) Should i be a little more worried about this? And is the fact that it is basically most of the time only 8-10% free increasing the wear by a substantial amount?

So, after the lift on software updates for my Huawei, I got access to this neat feature on my phone: Digital balance, which basically measures my screen time in different apps, and also gives me nice summaries on what I actually spend my time on doing. My question to you is, do you know of any other programs on Windows that would do the same? Saving statistics on the kind of programs that are in focus, and how long they've been used? Well, quite a lot of the problems tend to stem from that doctors are not quite up to speed with digital technology. Thats generally not what they study, so they need a better implementation of information. There have been numerous strides here in NZ, but Apple's Health app is a good solution for a ubiquitous approach. Information regarding standardisation of clinical outcomes ultimately improves patient outcomes. We can then know the right treatments for the patients and apply it to standard practice. Now if only there was a way to enforce standard practice. My opinion: Best thing since sliced cheese. Hopefully Android users will soon have the same access to Apple's database (One database is a lot better than two in this scenario, not an Apple vs Android thing - Apple has the edge by far when it comes to health. If we have two data sets, particularly with data from phones, this could mean duplicates if people have two phones. You might be thinking that in this regard Apple's health is taking information from the hospital database, but the health app also collects data on the Activity app, such data is also wanted - and would be centralised in Apple's Health app). If we can finally get a good data set like this, with live information feed, it will be very beneficial for research. Such a huge leap. [EDIT] So this would also might mean that if you go in for a blood test or urinalysis etc then the results would be on the Health App asap, and you would not need to go in or ring to access. Very important and key for quality of care.

So, we all know how iOS has a battery health status in it's settings to tell you how good the battery is. I'm running a Pixel 2 XL, Android 10. Is there any software that can get an accurate or at least close enough estimate to tell me how good my battery health is? I'm aware that I have to charge it up completely and let it die a couple of times.
