Hey all, I recently built a new PC and upgraded to Windows 11. I have 2 displays connected to my GPU (RTX 4070 TI SUPER) and I am constantly encountering this issue where I keep hearing connected disconnected sounds from PC. After checking all the USB ports, I found out that the issue was actually with HDMI. I have tried another cable but the same issue occurs. Basically the connection/disconnection keep happening randomly and the whole PC stutters/lags for a second or two. One of my displays is connected via Displayport to a G9 Odyssey running at 5120x1440 at 240Hz and the other display is an LG C1 OLED running at 4k 120Hz. I usually use one or the other exclusively and not both at the same time. This issue occurs only when I am running on the monitor and the HDMI is connected(doesn't matter the TV is on Standby or not but it usually it is on Standby). I have searched and tried many solutions but to no avail. To solve this issue I plug out my HDMI when using my PC monitor. When using my TV display as my only screen, this issue also doesn't occur. Only when HDMI is plugged in and I am only using my Monitor. Any suggestions or ideas what could be the issue? My PC specs: CPU: 7800X3D MOBO: ASROCK X670E STEEL LEGEND GPU: RTX 4070 TI SUPER

Hi all, I'm really lost for ideas to test at this point. Any ideas would be amazing! Overview: Using latest Asus strix laptop (2023, I9 / 4080) as a desktop replacement. The system is set up connected to external Samsung ody8 4k monitor + all peripherals (KB/Mouse/Mic/Headset). The system is set up in performance and or turbo mode, and always plugged into power. **The laptop is configured to only show monitor 2 (external screen). have not changed and or modified any color management programs native to the laptop or Asus issued apps. Issue: randomly the color or visuals on the external monitor go vivid and warm tones are exaggerated. When i grab a test window and drag it to the laptop screen it refreshed the window only* (blinks once) and the color on said window is normal tone again. and vice versa. Temporary fix sometimes: I noticed when i do a clean reinstall of the latest Nvidia drivers, this can sometimes fix this issues for a while. sometimes like today it does nothing but waste time. I've Tried: new HDMI cables, different monitor ports, restarts, driver reinstalls, checked all color management app or locations in widows. I'm really lost to why this happens, I'm sure its a driver issue. but where is it going wrong. and why is a temporary clean install fixing it? I feel like there's a color profile changing somewhere but i cannot seem to find a clear path to or if that location exists. Please tell me I'm not alone here haha. Cheers Daniel.

So I picked up a TCL Q7 for my office. Wanted something budget friendly to get better motion clarity. It has 4k 120hz. Love it so far for stream and tv. I eventually will get a ps5 to hook up to it. For now I have a pc with a 3080 I figured I could hook up to play BG3. Here’s the problem. HDMI does not work at all. My pc recognizes the tv, it shows in display settings as 4k 60hz. Even lets me move my mouse over to it. The tv will show a pop up saying hdmi device detected but on the screen it just says no signal please check connections. Yes I’ve tried different cables already and a different pc. Any suggestions?

Howdy! I've recently bought my forever home and I want to make my living room desktop setup as clean as possible. The main thing I want to do is put my PC in the cellar, and just have a desk with display, mouse and keyboard in the living room. (maybe cellar isn't the right word, it's more like a completly underground floor, including a garage) There's plenty of space, it's dry, it's cool, it's the perfect place for computer equipment. I've seen the devices on the Chinese wholesale websites, HDMI over ethernet and such, but those devices only support a refresh rate of only 60hz at 1080p or 30hz for 4k. I would like a device that let's me plug in HDMI/DisplayPort on the PC side and on the monitor side, and connect the two with ethernet or whatever cable it requires. I recall Linus having a 'remote' setup like this, it's there a list of devices involved?

I bought a Samsung odyssey g5 34 inch 165hz monitor the other day and being stupid didn't realize the HDMI port on the monitor was blocked from running 165Hz (up to 100HZ) and I could use the Display port but sadly my laptop only has HDMI output on it, and the GPU is only connected to the HDMI port (Razer blade 14 3080ti (2022)). So the only way i can get 165Hz out of it is if I use an Active HDMI to DP adaptor, but i can't seem to find any that can run 3440x1440 @ 165Hz. Any suggestions on what I should do or an Adaptor you found(that can ship to AUS)?

Hello, I've been having a weird problem with audio over HDMI to TV and I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem, and if so, if they discovered a solution for it. I have an RTX 3080 Ti connected to a TV with a 4K 120hz connection, and the audio works fine for probably around 30 minutes, then it gets distorted and eventually completely cuts off. I have tried 3 different HDMI cables (rated for the full 48gbps spec of HDMI 2.1) and they all eventually showed this problem. I have found a temporary fix, but it's still annoying to get up mid-movie and mess with the audio settings to get it working again. That is to change the sample rate from 48000 hz from 44100 hz and then back to 48000 hz. I don't have any idea why this fixes it temporarily, but it seems to. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue, and if so, found a solution I could try? Thank you!

I have a 144 Hz monitor which uses HDMI 2.0 as input. Whenever a full screen game is set to a refresh rate below 144, everything turns pink, now I wouldn't have posted this here had there not been a caveat: shitty ports like Dark Souls 1 won't let me choose anything higher than 60 Hz (not even with DSFix) so I'm pretty much stuck with a pink screen, how can I fix this?

Hi everyone! I just started booting up my pc and it just wont show display, i bought a new hdmi cable as i thought it was broken. All the cables are fine and plugged in correctly. And BTW i have a question too, where does the AC-97 plug go? Because i dont know? Help urgent! Thanks

Hello everyone. As the title says, im having this connection issue with my hdmi cable to the tv. Usually the fix would be to buy a hdmi 2.1 cable. However..... I've also the LG C3. Before i used to game at it when i was back home. I used the same hdmi cable in the C3 to the pc and it worked with no issues whatsoever. So i dont believe the issue is actually the cable here. Anyone have any ideas what else could this be ?

On my Xbox series x there’s tiny red does but only seems to be in some or the colors on screen but not all (as you can see if the video with how it’s only some colors) tried different cables and TVs and monitors and can’t go up to 144p I’d I do just gets no signal on monitor 1080p 120hz and 60hz works but still with the red dots so at this point where don’t know if it’s worth sending it in or just getting another hdmi port swap would fix it or the gpu is going out on it what I read some people where saying but i don’t know if after the swap the dots would still be there just figured I’d post to see what people say before doing anything filtered-99120D1B-F6F6-4F1E-93FF-3359152FC7ED.mp4

Subject: Seeking Feedback on 2.1 HDMI Cables - Any Recommendations? Hey everyone, I'm currently on the lookout for a reliable 2.1 HDMI cable, and I came across Ugreen one that seems promising. It's available in India and has good reviews, but I wanted to check in with the community to see if anyone has personal experience with it. If you've used a 2.1 HDMI cable recently and can vouch for its quality, could you please share your thoughts? Any insights on performance, durability, and compatibility would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help! This are the one I found https://amzn.eu/d/9wQIf9H https://amzn.eu/d/8wL29pM

hey everyone! after some unsuccessful attempts at google and reddit here i am posting for the first time on the forums! i just bought a Gigabyte G5 MF laptop 16gig ram, rtx 4050, I5 512 SSD, from my understanding the mini DP port is the only on that connects directly to the GPU so i was hoping to use that port to connect to a monitor, i was un able to buy a mini dp to dp cable or adapter locally and have yet to try amazon. iv found a couple posts on reddit saying that there WAS a bios update on gigabyte that fixed the problem with the mini dp port not working but that has since been taken off of their site, anyone have any other fixes i could try? thanks in advance! its been driving me nuts! iv tried bios updates, nvidia drivers, intel drivers, windows updates, etc but right now all i can get to work is the HDMI port

I might be alone in wanting this at all, but seeing as many monitors are shifting to be entertainment hubs (like Samsung’s gaming hub) and how there are now monitors reaching upwards of 40 inches, the lack of eARC support in any way shape or form is a bit of a head-scratcher. I had got a Sonos Beam Gen 2 for Christmas and thought I could just plug it into my 3000 series GPU for only sound, but that’s not supported. On top of that, the only way to use Dolby Atmos (except a dedicated receiver) is with hdmi (e)ARC. There are extractors on the market that will split your audio and video, but they seem spotty at best, with the chance of them working for your setup being up in the air until you blow at least $200 dollars on one that has hdmi 2.0 specs but is listed to support eARC somehow anyway. I feel like this would be a topic Linus would’ve covered already, but I don’t think any big tech channels in general have. Understandable if it’s a niche desire/product, as it wouldn’t make sense to build an eARC port into monitors if it doesn’t get used by 90% of owners, so I’m wondering if I’m alone in my thinking.

Hello! (Hope this is the right subforum) I thought I'd ask for help here, as this just doesn't make sense to me, and it would be much easier if I could do this. I have an admittedly older PC (new one soon, but not yet) with a 1050 Ti and while it works perfectly fine with my two regular screens (a main 27" 240 Hz and a smaller 60 Hz side screen I use vertically), my TV refuses to work with it when I plug it in with a HDMI cable, and Windows just refuses to detect it. The same TV works perfectly fine when plugged into my laptop (HP EliteBook I think, it just has an Intel GPU). I specifically bought a *long* HDMI for this, which feels extra awkward now. Now, the things I know and why all of this makes no sense to me: - I was previously on Win8.1 but upgraded to 11 recently. I thought maybe 8.1 didn't handle 3+ screens well, but nope, nothing has changed. - It used to work okay-ish when I plugged the TV instead of the main monitor into the same HDMI port, but now that won't work either for some reason. - Newest NVIDIA drivers etc., I've tried messing with all sorts of settings in both Windows/NVIDIA settings and on the TV, nothing helps. - Random but feels related somehow, I also tried plugging either monitor with DisplayPort instead of HDMI once and it just wouldn't work either. Works fine via HDMI, Windows refuses to detect anything via DisplayPort. Would be grateful for any ideas as this just feels like some kind of weird mystery. I'm wondering if this simply isn't a case of an old/degraded graphics card (purchased in 2018), but I'd like to figure out if there are other options before I get a new PC and end up disappointed again... Thanks in advance for any help, and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! [and also attached HWinfo in case that helps]

Ive had a couple bad experiences trying to find the above mentioned converter. I want to play things that use rca composite cables on my hdmi tv without breaking the bank. I tried buying from amazon and my local game shop and i learned that some companies make product that just looks like it converts when really it doesnt do anything. I dont remember the name of the company; this was before covid. If anyone knows a base i can start with or of a reliable converter id appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi community, i hope you all have a nice holiday. As you know christmas is family IT support time. Because of this i now got an old Fujitsu Lifebook S760. It was replaced by a new notebook and now i can play with the old one. At first i wanted to reinstall the system at time of release (Windows 7 Pro). My goal is to have a working retro pc for some old software. Everything works fine. Except: The device's speakers are not working. I installed every driver from the Fujitsu support page specifically filtered for my device's serial number. The Realtek High Definition Audio Driver also shows up in the installed progams list. For unknown reasons the audio only works when I connect the notebook over HDMI with a monitor with built-in speakers. Then everything is fine. How can i get the internal notebook speakers to work? Specs: Fujitsu Lifebook S760 Windows 7 Professional, 64 Bit Realtek High Definition Audio Driver ALC269, Version 6.0.1.5911 (08/17/2009) (installed and visible in all-programs-list) Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD, Version 8.15.10.2025 (12/18/2009) In the attachments you can find screenshots. It is a system localized for german language. Have a nice holiday bananaMochi

JBL Bar 500 (HDMI) + Samsung G9 Neo (DP) - Windows 11 Pro - bypass ghost Display and maintain features Hello all, Hoping someone has the same challenge or any suggestions to try. I am fairly technical but have not found a solution on the internet that would work for myself, thanks for any input! Problem: Just purchased a JBL BAR 500 after having a Logitech Z5500 for 20+ years to simplify the look of my setup along with take advantage of Atmos features (HDMI only). Plugging in the HDMI to my 3080 it creates a "ghost" display that is annoying and I think would cause performance impact as I also introduced a SAMSUNG G9 Neo to my setup that must run through Displayport (DP) to work with Freesync/Gsync. The closest I have gotten is duplicating the display 5120x1440 to both but this disables the HDR ability for the monitor. I would like to be able to utilize all the features if possible - never used audio via HDMI, if any has any experience / tricks suggestions on Windows 11 or via the Nvidia control panel I missed? I am unfamiliar with using ARC which would simply but I don't think solve this challenge. TLDR Breakdown for PC setup: JBL Bar 500: HDMI - want to utilize Atmos Samsung G9 Neo: Displayport - want to use HDR and Freesync/Gsync HDMI Audio creates secondary screen that disables HDR, and affects performance? Causes window focus to *hidden/ghost* screen - annoying . Disabling "JBL monitor disables audio ------------------------------------------- CPU: Intel 12700KF (No integrated GPU) GPU: Asus ROG Strix 3080 (2 DisplayPort / 2 HDMI) As I have a KF edition CPU I originally thought maybe I could utilize the HDMI on the Motherboard and bypass the GPU but I did not opt for the onboard GPU so that option is out. I cannot find a workaround such as a HDMI soundcard , could buying capture card to bypass the gpu work even though that's an expensive workaround. Example: Duplicate Example: Extend Example: JBL off Thank you for any input you might have!

Hi all, I recently got the Cable matters DP to HDMI cables for my LG C3 triples setup. The Cable matters cable simply does not work at 120Hz, the screen goes black. Weirdly, it works with other 120Hz displays (tested it on a friend's CX). I verified that the TVs themselves are capable of 120Hz by connecting them directly to the single HDMI port on 7900XT. Deep colour is enabled. The cables are also at the latest firmware version. Anyone know what to do here?

Hi All So I teach in the mornings and do have a problem class that just doesn't concentrate well. I won't go too far into it but these kids' parents bought their way into the school. Most of my presentations are PowerPoint based and I've been using a presentation pointer which works well as it allows me to walk around the class and still teach, but functionality is limited to up and down. It does have a laser pointer but this doesn't work well on monitors. I do rely on the pointer as walking around the class, especially near the disruptive ones and engaging them does quiet them down/cause them to write. I've been adapting presentations and finding new ones that may engage with them more (more dynamic), but my simple pointer wouldn't be enough. My computer is a laptop/tablet combo (Asus ROG Z13, was on an unboxing video with Alex) and works well. I'm thinking that if I could find a good wireless type C transmitter to HDMI receiver, I could still walk around the class but be able to click on different parts of my laptop's screen (more dynamic presentations) rather than just up/down. Whilst I can find HDMI options, I'd like to keep the bulk down considering I'd be carrying it around. My laptop has 2xType C ports (not sure of the generation but I believe support TB3), I guess the best thing would be to have a Type C to HDMI adaptor and have the transmitter plugged into that, potentially a small mod to have it not dangling around too much. The type C port isn't the sturdiest in the world, so I know I'd have to be careful with it. Does anybody have any thoughts, feedback, or experience with this sort of setup? Many thanks!

I have a pc with a video card that has 2 outputs (display port and hdmi) and a cpu without onboard graphics (i3 12100f). I have my main 240hz monitor plugged in the display port and 2nd monitor (60hz) in the hdmi port. I want to be able to use my samsung TV as either a 3rd monitor or switch the hdmi output of the GPU to either be my 2nd monitor or the TV. Would this switch work for what i need and is there a different way i could achieve it?

I have gotten myself a relatively cheap KVM switch for working at home, only problem is I got my Laptop (MSI GP 66 Leopard) after the switch and it only outputs in HDMI. But the KVM switch I got only takes DP inputs. I tried using HDMI to DP cables, but contrary to the names, the signal only works one way (DP -> HDMI), with multiple devices even when directly PC to monitor. So does anyone know of ANY cable / adaptor that actually works the other way around? Would really like to know if thats possible or I just wasted my money.

I know there are a lot of posts like these out there when searching google, but hear me out.I have an Asus Zenbook hooked up to an ASUS VS238H-P. It's been working just fine (besides some abysmal colors), until yesterday I 'hot-plugged' it(not sure if this is the right jargon). While both the laptop and monitor were on, I unplugged the HDMI from my laptop, and plugged it into another laptop, where it worked fine. When I was finished, I plugged the monitor back into the original laptop and the screen came on but in 640x480 resolution and options to change it were grayed out. It also shows up in my device manager as 'generic non-pnp monitor'.Things I've tried already:-Tested all the combinations of different HDMI cables, monitors, and computers. In summary, the affected monitor works completely fine (no locked 640 x 480) with any OTHER computer I hooked it up to. And my laptop works completely fine (no locked 640x480) with any OTHER monitor.-What DOES work (that I've tried so far), is using a DVI to HDMI cable. The DVI goes into the back of the monitor, and HDMI to my laptop, and it works just like before.-In conclusion, I only experience the 640x480 locked resolution when the monitor is paired with the original computer that it occurred on, using an HDMI cable (I tested 4 different cables, which work on other systems).-Uninstalled all my AMD gpu drivers with DDU, and tried re-installing both the OEM drivers, and the AMD manufacturer ones.-Restored to a 'restore point' from about a week ago.-Re-installed basically all my other drivers just to be thorough (chipset, etc).-Tried safe-mode.-Cycled through the VGA, DVI, HDMI inputs on the monitor, as well as factory reset it.-Went to 'advanced display settings' -->'show all modes' -->' looked for correct resolution' (only 640x480 is available).-Uninstalled the drivers of the monitor in 'device manager' and re-plugged monitor, and scanned for hardware changes (this monitor doesn't have manufacturer drivers).-I reset my bios and factory reset my laptop. No luck.I'm out of ideas. It's not the worst situation in the world. I know the monitor is old, and I don't mind getting another DVI to HDMI cable to fix it, but the fact that it still works with HDMI cables on every other computer besides the one I want to use it on, kind of bugs me enough that I'll put in the effort to tinker with it or at least see why this is happening and learn more about computers/monitors .System:Asus Zenbook UM433DAWin 10 Pro 64-bit version 1909AMD Ryzen 7 3700UAMD Radeon RX Vega 1016GB DDR4 2400 RAM1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD

Hello! So I'm looking to have a dual monitor setup and since my gtx 1050ti only has two ports on it that i'll use (don't wanna go with vga), I want to know if it would work to use displayport for one and hdmi for the other? Also if other options like a displayport to hdmi cable or an hdmi splitter would be better options than different kinds of ports being used? I don't think there would be any problems but... I'm completely new to this and want to know before I buy my second monitor.
