Hey guys my headset recently broke and I have been looking into getting a new one and so far it has been a very daunting task to take on. As all the headsets I have owned have been "Gaming" ones, but I have heard many times that Headphones are the much better choice. So I have narrowed it down to either the Senheiser HD598 Sr or the Cs variant. I will mostly be using these headphones for gaming but also along with music use, so please share your experience with either of these headphones or give me your insight on closed or open backed headphones. Thanks for helping guys!

Hi all, I've had my Cloud Core for around 2 years plus. Been thinking of upgrading. So far I'm thinking of getting an Audio Technica M40x with a cheap tube amp. However, I don't mind spending twice as much for getting the Senheisser HD598 if it is truly worth the money. So, what I'm trying to ask which one is the best value for money? Is it the M40x with the cheap tube amp (a shop here is selling it in a set) or the significantly more expensive (around twice as much in my country) HD598? I will using it mostly for music, movies and casual gaming. I have to mention that while I'm happy with the Cloud's sound, I'm really annoyed at the tightness of the headphone and the small cups since my head and ears are significantly larger than average. My ears and head will hurt after 3 to 4 hours of using it. I've replaced the default foam with HM5 foams and it solved the ear sores somewhat but is not completely gone either. So a bigger headphone and cups will be a huge plus to me. I've tested my brother's M30x with HM5 too and I find it to be more comfortable to use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I was wondering if I should use my leftover usb sound card from by G430s for a pair of HD 598 CS or would it just be better to use my on board audio? Also I will not be purchasing a dac or amp because the CS model of the 598s are rated at 23 ohms.

Looking to get a new setup for audio.... These headphones will only be used for competitive gaming (Fortnite,CS:GO,Overwatch) *Footstep Tracking GOD* My motherboard is a Z170 Pro Gaming Mobo 300ohm max. My previous headset was a Sennheiser 363d. Currently what I have in mind and just cant decide: HD598 HD650 HD700??? Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250ohm I'm also open to other options and any input would be appreciated. If you have to pair with an AMP/DAC please recommend those as well. On a side budget I'm also going to be needing a mic and if you have any in mind please send it my way.

I've been looking for new open back headphones and the 598s look pretty great. I'm curious if they're still good even though they're a few years old. I've never had open back or audiophile headphones, and I have been trying to move away from gaming headsets. I'll mostly be gaming, but I also listen to a lot of music at my computer as well as watch movies every now and then. I'm open to other suggestions too in the same price area.

Hello I'm going to buy the hd598sr (mainly for gaming purposes) and really need an external dac amp combo for it. I'm going to be using it for my laptop (lenovo y500) which doesn't have a good mobo and so I was thinking of getting maybe the fiio e10k (haven't done much research) to get the full use out of these. The cheaper the better as always and I would like the best experience I could get for gaming out of these. What would you suggest? Thanks

Hi, I am looking for a pair of earphones to purchase but I'm not that familiar with earphones. I like headphones a lot more but for portability, I would prefer to cling onto a pair of earphones instead. I normally use the Sennheiser HD598 daily but I'd also want to find a pair of earphones that are noise cancelling (I think most already are). Would there be anything out there that fits me better? Disregard budget for now please... just wanna know first! Thank you.

Hey everyone. So I'm considering buying a new pair of headphone since my old Sennheiser headphones are showing its age quite a lot, at least in the aesthetics department. Plus I wanted a more audiophile grade listening experience. At first I had my sights set on getting myself a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO 250 Ohms (~$250 CAD) as they seem to have what I wanted; relatively punchy bass but not too much and a comfortable design. But since today is Amazon's Prime day catalog and I saw that the HD 598 SE's were on sale for ~$110 CAD. So that's kind of tempting me. I know the HD 598s have a rep for providing a satisfying listening experience but are a little lacking in the low ends. I thought I could just use a graphical EQ to kick the bass up but I'm not entirely sure about that route. So I need some opinions. Which one would be more suited to purchase? I usually listen to some jazz, a little orchestral, but mostly it's electronic, trance, and, in general, relatively bassy music. I have some samples down below. I also play a fair amount of CSGO, but I'm sure both headphones do positional audio quite well. Hope to hear from you guys soon!

So I've been trying to use the 598s I just got and they're really tight around my head. I was surprised since everyone screams "comfort" about them, but I guess it's because of my somewhat thick-framed glasses. I bought the vmoda Boom Pro mic in hopes of being able to hook it up with a 2.5-3.5mm adapter, but they're UNGODLY difficult to find thin enough to work with the 598s. My main question is; would it be worth it to keep them and try to stretch them out and hope that in time they wear in, or should I just return them while there's time and try another headset with similar sound? Currently looking at the AD700x's or possibly the SHP9550s

Hey guys, I ordered the HD598s as my first real premium headphones (I have 2 pairs of GR07 IEMs and wanted a taste of the sweet desktop audiophile grade listening experience too) and am looking at getting a mic to work with them. I considered the modmic but it's too expensive for my taste, so I've ordered the vModa mic. Problem is, I need a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm adapter for it to plug into both the headset and the mic, but the only one's I've been able to find online have terrible reviews, saying they basically fall apart. Does anyone know of any high quality adapters that 1) will fit in the little locking mechanism the 589s have and 2) are good enough build to handle the vModa and cord pulling down on them while on my head?

Looking for a good dac amp combo for my sennheiser HD598 SE. i've seen good reviews of some of the mayflower electronics, but does anyone else have any other good products they would be willing to talk about? I listen to a fair bit of music but am not an audiophile. I am looking for a nice clear sound, and supports competitive games like csgo. (I don't know much about this sort of thing, so I am not sure what else to put here ) Price range is anything below $350

So im looking forward for a good pair of headphones for video editing, music production, gaming and music listening. I want to know wich headphones suits me best, i know that the hd8 are twice the price of the hd598, but i want to know wich one is better. I like the most the hd 598 because of the soundstage they provide and the true sound they may give, but i am concerned about the noises that may disturb me when using them. I like the hd8 because of their toughness, and that they seem to block enough sound do that they can also be used as my travel headphones instead of my vmoda crossfade lp, but i am concerned about the soundstage they will provide not as good as the hd 598 and because i live somewhere is hot the most time of the year im concenred they may get too hot. I would like some good headphones i might even forget im wearing them. if we divided how much they will be used in each task it would be like so. gaming:30% casual listening:20% editing:30% music production: 20%

Arguably the best bang for buck headphones that Sennheiser currently has on offer. The regular price of these headphones are not as high as shown on the NCIX and Amazon as they are always on sale and fluctuating in price as of late. However, these prices are pretty much as good as they get in Canada. I'm pretty sure these are the closest to Black Friday/ Boxing Day type prices for the 518 and 558, but the 598 has been at $150ish for a while now and was <$120 on Black Friday. HD 518 for $89 @ NCIX: http://www.ncix.com/detail/sennheiser-hd518-open-e-a-r-technology-fe-82161-1618.htm HD 558 for $129 @ NCIX http://www.ncix.com/detail/sennheiser-hd558-audiophile-headphones-w-dd-74315-1618.htm HD598 in the "Burl wood accents" colour for $148 @ Amazon (shipped and sold by Amazon) http://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listing/B0042A8CW2/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new Hope this helps anyone looking for a new pair of cans

Hey there I have for a month now tried to figure out what headphones I wanted to get and now I think I've narrowed it down to two different headphones. The Sennheiser HD598 and the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro 250 Ohm. Now I just can't find out which one I should choose. Links: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beyerdynamic-DT990-PRO-Headset-250/dp/B0011UB9CQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417556058&sr=8-1&keywords=Beyerdynamic+DT-990+Pro+250+Ohm http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-598-Circumaural-Headphones/dp/B0042A8CW2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417556077&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+hd598 Does any of you have some good recommendations, of one of these. I already got a headphone amp so the 250ohm is not gonna be a problem

Hello users of LTT forums, and welcome to my full review of the Sennheiser HD598 Headphones. NOTES • 36 Hour Burn in Time using playlist consisting of varying genres. • Used “Headphones” option without Virtual Surround for Imaging testing. • Used Mayflower O2 + ODAC Amp/DAC Combo for all Testing. • I've owned these headphones for nearly a year. PICTURES Took them outside on my balcony this time, so hopefully they look better than before? Took them quite late though, around 6:30pm PST.

So, I'm kind of havin a bit of trouble with deciding which headphones to buy. I currently have the Sennheiser U320 for my gaming rig, and the sennheiser cx-ii (earphones) for other uses. Unfortunately the cx-ii were washed and as a result, the sound quality is worse and the audio just stops from time to time. I want to get headphones but I'm not sure which. I am hesitrating between the -sennheiser hd598 (if I buy them, I plan to replace the u320 by these since I'll be buying aswell the modmic 4.0) -Hd8 DJ (I really love the sleek looks and the coiled cable) this one will be used as well with the modmic4 -Sony MDR-10BTR. If I buy these, since they are bluetooth, these will be the headphones I'll be using whener I'm out, and on the go. If I get these, I'll keep the U320 as my gaming headset -I'm also hesitating between the Sony MDR-10BTR and the Sony MDR-1BTR since the 1BTR have a sleeker look although this doesn't justifiy the HUGE price difference twice as expensive. I know bluetooth headphones aren't the best but the practicallity is very appealing. If I'm getting either one of the sennheiser, I'll be getting two sound cards, one for my pc and another portable one. for the pc sound card, I was thinking of the asus u7 since (how I think) external sound cards are more practical, and besides, I don't know how to correctly choose a sound card. (any advice or choice is welcome) and for a portable amp/dac I was thinking of the v-moda vmap verza, but it is quite expensive for 570 iish $ and I was wondering if you knew any good portable unexpensive dac/amp Thank you very much! PS, any other headphone you think will suit is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm thinking about buying a new par of headphones/headsets and a new sound card. I think the best sound card for my budget is the Creative Sound Blaster Z (90€), but i'm not sure what headphones to buy. I've heard alot of good thing about the three headphones, but i don't know the difference between them, and science they're all about the same price (170€) ... The headphones would be mainly for gaming. Which of them do you guys think would be the better? Btw is there a better sound card for around the same price? P.S. I don't realy care about the mic on the pc360, i mainly care about soud and comfort.

Hi guys, I wanted to take advantage of the Black Friday deals on Amazon to buy a new set of headphones, soon to be paired with an O2/ODAC. My budget for the headphones is between £100 ($160) - £200 ($320) I have selected a few on Amazon, and wanted to know which one will be the best "bang for the buck". I mostly listen to rock and metal, but also some classic. So the ones I'm looking at are these, but feel free to suggest others: Denon: (they look like a good deal, both of them) AHD1100 AHD600 AKG: Q701 (a little over my budget but seems to be a good deal) K551 K550 Sennheiser: (from what I hear they sound the same) HD558 HD598 Beyerdynamic: DT990 PRO I realize the are from different classes, and some are open and others are closed. I am looking for the best value for my money, I am used to closed headphones, but I think I would prefer open (I say think because I only tested low end open headphones). However I'll be happy to keep using closed headphones, as long as it is a good deal. Thanks!
