Hey crew! I need a reco for a GPU. 5820k on a Gigabyte GA-X99-SLI. Gaming, light video editing and content creation. Was thinking of doing two 780 Tis in SLI (a config I've used before on a different platform) or maybe a single 970/980. I'm so indecisive! Lol! Hey, i've been considering swapping out my 5820k or possibly literally swapping hardware with someone else for a 7700k with a itx motherboard, since i want to move to a smaller form factor. What do you guys think of this choice? The reasoning for not getting the 1 and only itx x99 board is that it's not available im my country anymore. Do you think it's worth it performance wise or will i be sacrificing a lot of performance?

Hi there community, I'm currently running a i7-4790k with 32GB of ram on an Asus Z87-Pro board with an Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SSD. Lucky me just got the opportunity to sell the motherboard with the CPU and Ram to a relative. So I am thinking about "upgrading" and started looking for information out there on CPU architectures - not knowing which is the "right" or "best" one. My setup goals I want to run my Zotac GTX 1080Ti AMP Extreme and invest in a M.2 SSD mainboard-integrated without running into bandwith issues or any bottleneck. Overclocking isn't my think but I always tried to keep this option available with my setups in the past. So maybe I will try to oc a tiny bit on this setup. (Mostly I don't stay on a setup for longer than 2-3 years bc I really like the feeling of a high-performing machine) Cores I thought about (all 6 core, 12 threads, comparable) i7-8700k (Coffee Lake on 1151 socket, 16 PCIe-lanes, 2 Memory Channels @64GB DDR4-2666) i7-7800k (Skylake on 2066 socket, 28 PCIe-lanes, 4 Memory Channels @128GB DDR4-2400) i7-5930k (Haswell-E on 2011-3 socket, 40 PCIe-lanes, 4 Memory Channels @64GB DDR4-2133) My worries/Which core should I pick in case of.. Memory Channels - Is the Quad-channel worth buying? I haven't found superior differences on benchmarks in comparison to Duo-channel. PCIe-lanes - Is the mainboard-integrated M.2 SSD consuming any PCIe lanes in the background? If the core can handle 16 lanes but the 1080Ti utilizes all of them, is there still bandwith for the M.2 SSD without restricting the 1080Ti? Socket - Which socket is staying up-to-date in the next years? (For reusing the mainboard) Memory - Should I go with the highest MHz so I can reuse it for my next core? I hope you guys can give me some advice and clarify me on my technical worries. Maybe you can also give me some good advice in terms of motherboard and chipset. Best regards from Germany, Marc

i was looking at the ark intel sheet for each of the 3 extreme 5xxx cpus and it said that they only support ram up to 64gb but there are then mobo's that support up to 128gb?? any ideas

When (or better yet, if) I get a job, I plan on saving up to build my next main machine. In the beginning, I was planning on getting the AMD FX-9590 as the heart of the system, and an AMD Radeon R9 270 or 270x, one of those. When I discovered that It'd be better that I went with Intel and NVIDIA (for reasons I'll explain below), I switched the build to an Intel Core i7-4790K with a/an NVIDIA (I did that because some people say "nah-vidia" and others say "n-vidia") GTX 780. When the Intel Core i7-5820K and the GTX 980 came out, I switched to those. Then, the GTX 980 Ti came out and I switched to that. Its current proposed state is an Intel Core i7-5820K, GTX 980 Ti, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 1.12TB of storage (1 hard drive, 1 SSD) and a Corsair power supply, as well as a few other little things that aren't important enough to mention. Now that Intel has a couple of Skylake processors out (the i5-6600K and the i7-6700K) I'm wondering if I should stick to the Haswell-E 5820K when it comes down to performance. You see, I'm not interested in getting the 6 core processor and 980 Ti for bragging rights. I actually want the horsepower when it comes to rendering in Adobe Premiere and After Effects and Blender 3D. The 980 Ti comes into play here as After Effects and Blender 3D have features that can take advantage of a powerful GPU. I also like the 5820K because it's about the best priced, high performing processor that I know of. This'll likely sound incredibly stupid to some of you, and I might be making myself look like a fool for not knowing otherwise, but should I stick to the i7-5820K for my future build, or move to the i7-6700K when it comes down to performance in applications like Adobe Preimere, After Effects and Blender 3D? Yes I want to play games, but if all I wanted to do was play games, I'd stop at the i5-6600K and a GTX 970. Maybe not even a GTX 970, because I don't play heavy games like Metro Last Light or what have you. Cities: Skylines is the most recent game I have, and the next most recent game I have Is Skyrim, which I can already play on near-ultra graphics and still get a high framerate.

So this is my first time posting and I just wanted to get any opinions on a setup I have designed. My budget is a max of $5000 AUD and the aim is for gaming, content creation (video editing and game creation-udk) and streaming, I want to be able to run 4K games and have plenty of overclocking room. Before you say anything yes I know a 4770K or 4790K would be much better for gaming but I want to be able to render out a 20-30 minute video in under 1.5 hours, my main problem areas have been cpu cooling and motherboard so any help with that would be greatly appreciated. I'm considering to build myself a pc. I do gaming(league of legends, civ and euiv, probably bf4 soon), programming, modelling in blender and basis like browsing and streaming netflix. I currently have a HP Eliteone 800, is this good enough and will it be able to handle my tasks? Or should I upgrade? If I need to upgrade I want a PC that will last a few years. I am thinking of this build. Cpu: Intel i7 5820k with H100i for extra cooling when I overclock. MOBO: Msi x99 sli something Ram: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 2800 Gpu: Msi Geforce gtx 970 Case: NZXT H440 or Define R5 windowed? Psu: Not sure, any recommendations? The theme is red and black. Will this be good enough or is it overkill? I am probably going to buy another 970 and run sli in a year or two.

I am building a first computer but my conflict is which cpu. Once i chose either Haswell, Ivy bridge E or Haswell e i do not intend to upgrade for a while. I wouldn't mind to wait but the question is should I. I would be video editing and gaming along as streaming and my price range is between 1,200 and 1,500. I posted this because i don't want to have a outdated cpu if i go for Haswell now even tho if i wait a year i can go for ivy e or if i wait even longer a Haswell e.
