Hello! I was browsing the internet on my Dell Latitude 3550 when all of a sudden, I got BSOD and UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION. I let windows do its thing, and eventually restarted, but this time giving me BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO. So my laptop pulls up Dell SupportAssist, and out comes "Hard Drive not installed." So i check if the connections are in place, reconnect everything, and restart, and it turns out to be a hard drive failure. I called DataSavers, and they estimate a range of $700-$2700, depending on what they find when I send it in. So, I decided to try investigating to see if I can fix this WITHOUT spending 700-2700 dollars. When I took off the PCB of my hard drive, I looked and saw these few contact pads and seemed to be scratched away, and am wondering if this is the cause of my drive not working. If this is the case, I am hoping i can just buy a replacement PCB and avoid the costly data recovery. My hard drive is a Seagate Momentus 500GB that came from a old build of mine, so I just swapped out the original laptop drive since i didnt want to transfer everything over. The laptop has been working fine for the past 6 months until now, where my hard drive stopped working.

Welp, I think I inadvertently gave my pc a fatality while doing some cable management and routine air dusting to my recently modded system. I made sure to keep myself grounded, hardware was plugged into appropriate places, and I essentially minded my "p's and q's". But when I was done, my system wouldn't post until I took out the graphics card, and when it did post I couldn't boot into Windows 10. I got the bsod saying that I had to insert installation or recovery media and shut down my system. When I was on the bsod I kept getting error codes 0xc00000221 and 0xc0000421. I even tried repairing my original hard drive, using system restore, and other recovery tools but no luck. So I have Windows 10 Home edition installed on a new hard drive right now but I can't even get to the desktop because there was a defaultuser0 account that was automatically created. I'm trying to use the command prompt to create a user account for myself just to get in but nothing has worked so far. Earlier today I reached a level of desperation so critical that I called Microsoft Tech Support only to get a person in a foreign country. Ofc they gave me bs instructions like turn your computer on and off again and try to get to advanced boot options. (well I'm sure Microsoft has competent employees but I'm just cursed) So while I'm googling anything and everything that might potentially be phoenix down for my system I have some questions: Windows 10 didn't set up a new account for me and I'm stuck with the login page for the account defaultuser0. How can I get past that page and make a new account? I previously repaired some bad sectors on the hard drive that has failed. Will I be able to recover anything from that hard drive or should I just put it out of it's misery? If I can somehow get to the Windows 10 desktop, how does one reactivate their license when all traces of it are gone? What I've figured out so far is that the boot manager and kernel are fcked up. Should I just do a level 3 limit break on my system and upgrade to Ryzen 7, new motherboard, and new ram? Some of these values look kind of worrying and I don't want to lose very important data on my drive. (Read Error Rate and Seek Error Rate)

Hi Everyone! So I'm trying to rescue a 1TB hard drive I had lying around of the house in order to used as a BackUp drive in raid 1. The drive was apparently dead so I took a closer look at the PCB and noticed that one of the chips was clearly fried. So I ordered one PCB and swapped the BIOS, and now it does spin and makes some clicking noises I recorded: To be honest, I accidentally lose one resistor near the BIOS... two times so I swapped it with one of the same board (Not from the donor one cause I lose it too) and because I forgot to do the measure, I don't even know if the resistor has the same ohms I have opened and recorded drive working: So I need to know if this problem is because of that resistor or because something else is wrong The PCB serial is: 2060-701640-002 REV A and the resistor I lost was the one placed at R61 Thank you very much in advance! I was browsing around on the web when I got a Windows blue screen error: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. This error was stuck at 0% so I was forced to "force" shut it down. It started up for about an hour when I got the same blue screen. Now when I power on, only the Dell logo pops up, then eventually the bios loads in and says: "no hard drive installed". Also, the bios takes a few minutes to boot into, seems strange. Any thoughts? System Specs: Dell XPS 15 9560 Laptop CPU: i7-7700HQ GPU: GTX-1050 RAM; 16GB DDR4 STORAGE: 512GB M.2 SSD SCREEN: 4K INFINITY EDGE

The symptoms started about a week ago, where my 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD started going on the fritz. I noticed it when I tried running a game of League of Legends and suddenly a lot of my program icons were replaced with "Blank Page" Icons and when I'd try to run it, I received a little window asking me to browse for the file because it was not able to find it. I run my OS off an ssd, so my browsers and other light programs still run fine. I just can't get into any of my files in the hard drive, nor can I actually do anything to it. I've tried just about every trouble shooting article out there and I've decided to give in and ask my one beacon of hope before I just buy a new one. I don't have a LOT of stuff on the hard drive, but it would just be a pain in the ass to not be able to recover my files before dumping it, sentimental stuff. I'll post pics of all the error messages and weird shit I've seen since this started happening. I do want to note, that this pc I am using is made of 90% used parts, and I wouldn't be surprised if I am just experiencing hard drive failure due to wear and tear from the previous owner, who was a pc and gaming enthusiast. On the off chances that I could get my HDD to work, I noticed a HUGE blow to performance, certain parts of my games were being really glitchy and slow, my load times also took a massive cut once these problems started cropping up. In this image I left it mostly uncropped so you could see the files running off my SSD and the files running off my HDD. What the actual hell is going on and what can I do to salvage my data, since it's pretty clear I'm not gonna be able to get this hard drive back to running as normal.

Hey guys, I have a Samsung NP 300E5E which displays error that all boot options Are tried, press F4 key to recover with factory image recovery using RECOVERY or any other key for next boot loop iteration. The problem is that my CD disk tray isn't functioning and I don't have the reinstall cd ( don't remember if it was provided) I tried all possible buttons that I could think of but it didn't let me boot into bios. It did let me boot once and by mistake I switched boot into CMS rather that UEFI OS I think its a drive failure. Can I do something or I just need to partition format on other computer? sorry for the typos I'm using iPad now.

When I'm not playing a game or doing anything, the idle temperature of my hard drive is about 26-27 degrees celcius and it doesnt change when I play a game. I was wondering if that was a stable temperature. I am asking this because I have been dealing with my computer freezing up while I play games and have been trying to figure out the problem for months and a hard drive failure is one of the possibilities. So just wan't to see if my hard drive is causing the issue. There was a recent update for windows. When I download it after shutting off, It has to do after update operations. From what I see It does only half of them, then skips to configuring windows updates. In that screen it says "failure to configure windows update, reverting changes." That paired with the fact that I get a blue screen with the error Kernel_data_inpage_error when waking up from sleep mode leads me to believe my primary hard drive is failing. If anyone can confirm or deny this, it would be awesome. Let me know if you need anymore information. Any help is appreciated.

When I booted up my PC later, the drive was still making that sound and none of my computers have been able to mount the drive. Can someone please advise me on what I can do to either get it working again or recover the data?
