I’m moving cases to a lighter one, that being the fractal torrent. Right now I’m using this 420 freezer AIO from arctic. Massive fan of it’s preformace so far. Any tips or ideas for what else I could do to liven it up? I would send pictures but I haven’t gotten the torrent in yet. specs (colors) 13600k, (good luck seeing it, but it’s silver) msi 690 pro ddr4. (Black with silver/light grey) Fractal Torrent (Black one with dark tint) Asrock Formula OC (Grey, black, gold OC logo on backplate, green trim on shroud) ram (normal black vengeance non rbg) Arctic (has some really cool silver colored stripes on it, kinda reminds me of pinstripes on old suits) plan so far is to take off the gpu shroud, and I’m going to either airbrush, probably for starters try to color the green strip to either silver, or gold to match the logo on the back plate. I do know I’ll have to trim a bit of the bottom bracket for the fans if the fan samples I saw online of people putting in the same cooler. Might do silver accents on the flat plastic panels with stencils and such. Any other ideas to add some flavor to it?

Hello everyone, I recently built a new PC and decided to use the M.2 SSD from my old Acer prebuilt as a secondary storage device. However, every time I try to wipe it, I receive the error message 'this drive is write protected', even though there is no apparent reason for it happening. I have tried numerous methods, including using the command prompt and following various suggestions on the internet, but I still can't seem to find a solution. It's infuriating because I have spent so much of my time trying to fix it, and I just want it wiped so that the time I have spent can be worthwhile. Luckily, I do have a new M.2 that I am using , but I would still like to make use of the old one. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue, and if so, were you able to resolve it? Additional information to note is that the old M.2 SSD was the boot drive of my previous Acer prebuilt. I believe this may be the reason why I am facing this issue as it contains all of Acer's pre-installed bloatware. I would appreciate any advice or tips you all may have.

Budget (including currency): Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop Warning: I tend to ramble. I'll put a TLDR at the bottom. I bought a pre-built on black friday because I was nervous about building my own and wanted a warranty. Luckily so, because it took a dump on me not long after. I called ABS (great customer support, by the way) and they offered to send me a new SSD to see if that would fix it. I ended up fixing it before the drive got here, so I never opened it and planned to just send it back. Well, they never sent the return postage that they said they would and it's been a a month and change now and it's looking like I just got a free drive. Being new to the PC building scene, what should I use it for? Can I set it up in raid? I see people saying raid is dangerous, but is it really more dangerous than just having 1 drive? I don't need the space (I have 13+TB of external storage for videos, projects and games) and I could always use more speed. TLDR: I got a free 1TB SSD and I don't need more storage. Can I set it to raid with my existing 1TB SSD? Current System Configuration: Ryzen 3700x (Stock Cooler) B450 2060 Super (Gigabyte, I think? If that matters) 16GB 3000mHz 1TB SSD 15ish TB of external Storage

I have an old Acer laptop, Aspire 5733z-4851, it was a daily driver for my grandparents until they got tablets and has spent the last 5 years in the bottom of a cabinet. They let me have it, I took off all the pictures and important stuff and then went to do a good old windows reset, the hard drive had barely anything on it, a few updates and 3.7 gigs of pictures as said. The reset got to about 35 percent and then it rebooted, I didn't really think anything of it but when it came back the windows loading screen showed up for a few seconds, gave me a message saying that the reset failed and them immediately went into a boot loop. At the moment I'm thinking of buying an ssd to replace the old spinner boy and do a complete fresh install, also this might not make a difference but the OS was updated from Windows 7 to 10, not a clean install, if that is important info. The eventual plan would be to use this computer as a hub for some janky security cameras, I'm thinking full on webcams mounted inside of my windows pointing down the road. As an important note I've never done a fresh install of windows, I'm not a software kind of person, so this is a bit daunting to me but I'm going to bring this poor acer back from the dead. For those curious it has a Pentium, 4 gigs of that sweet sddr3 ram and a 500 gig hard drive. Thanks everyone in advance and stay safe out there

I've had this problem for a while. My 1080Ti FTW3 will not usually pass 40-50% load (on less demanding titles) resulting in lower than expected FPS. Same goes with my CPU, it never really passes 50%. Potential Issue: CPU temp at times can reach highs of 88C, although in the attached examples, never passes 85C. Tried: Nvidia control panel maximum performance Performance power options Ensure V-Sync is off Remove fps caps Highest graphic options (to push load) Specs: EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 (Overclocked) i7 6700k @ 4.7GHz G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB DDR4 2400

Hey all, I'm currently going to be building a new gaming rig this month and I've done extensive looking around. Stuck between going with the new 13600k or 7600x. I'm leaning towards going with a 6950 XT GPU as its near 3090 performance and is the price of a 3080 currently(~$800). A long with this, I'll be on a 1440p 144hz monitor. I know the biggest hurdle is the cost, going with the 7600k I'll need to go with ddr5 and that is super pricey currently. However, newegg has some offers that include a 16gb ddr5 stick free with specific motherboards($220 mobo). Mind you, its slow ddr5.. but its something to get started on. Thinking on going AM5 just as I could potentially upgrade my CPU later on without spending another ~$200 on a new motherboard. Going with 13600k, I can stick with DDR4. I already have two 8gb sticks of DDR4 I can grab out of a different pc we have, That would help. I have also seen 13600k has been beating the 7600x quite a bit. Smaller side question: Does the 7600x + 6950 XT benefit from SAM? Would that be something to consider as well? Kinda stuck on which I should lean towards. Anyone have any opinions? Thanks.

Hi! Can't seem to wrap my head around this... any help is appreciated!! Running Unraid Basic 6.8.2. I have 2 VMs, one running CentOS 8.1.1911 and one running Ubuntu Server 18.04.4LTS. I have setup two bridged networks in Unraid: br0 (currently exclusively used by Unraid - webGUI, etc.) and br1: For use by the two VMs. I have confirmed that the interfaces have been assigned correctly, and are plugged in. I have access from my windows machine to both VMs and Unraid with no issues. The issue comes when I am attempting to mount an NFS share (which is on the Unraid server) to the Ubuntu VM. NFS times out claiming it cannot reach host. After further investigation, I found that I cannot even ping the Unraid IP from either VM. For more info, I am using 2 gigabit ports on the Mobo of a Dell PowerEdge R410, going to a switch that has no segregation. Surely I'm doing something stupid. Thanks for reading and thanks for any help in advance!

Hey guys, I'm asking myself whether I should buy an AMD r7 1700 or an Intel I7 7700k. I'm mostly into gaming, programming, a little bit of video editing, I want to run a couple vm's for testing and maybe do some tasks parallel, watching a video while playing games, watching videos while setting up a vm or while I am programming some tools. If u need to know this, the games I'd like to play with my new processor are things like Arma 3, CSGO and the new mass effect. I know that most of the performance will depend on my graphics card. I heard that AMD wanted to stay with AM4, which would be nice while thinking about upgrading my system in the future, but i also heard that it kinda sucks for gaming. I don't know if i need the extra cores of the ryzen processor. I also would like to OC the ryzen processor to smth like 3.8 ghz. Which one should I buy? Which processor fits better for my requirements? Thanks in advance.

So I've been thinking about getting a new monitor for my set up. I want to get a 27" monitor that's 1080p, specifically the Acer XB270H. However, I've been hearing from people that because the screen is slightly bigger than the usual size for 1080p which is 24 inches, that the pixel density will reduce the quality of the screen. Is this true? Can someone who has this screen leave me a review?

My company is looking into a virtual training solution for our Global Ops division. Essentially, we need a tool that employees from both our (internal) company and (external) partners' companies around the globe can remote into for a video training session. We would need for the supervisor(s) to have a 'thumbnail' or 'over-the-shoulder' view of participants' screens (essentially one window that shows all of the individual participants' screens), so that they can see everyone's progress and interact with them if they need help troubleshooting an issue. We have looking into 'classroom management' tools, but most of those require participants to be on the same network (which would pose an issue for us, as there would be both internal and external participants around the globe, not sharing a wireless network). Additionally, we have looked into other tools like Adobe Connect/Cisco Webex, but these don't have that 'thumdnail/over-the-shoulder' view we need. Does anyone know of a tool/software/solution that could facilitate this? Thanks! (Attached you will find a picture of the 'over-the-shoulder view' we're looking for)

Hello, this is my first time posting here, so I'm sorry if this is the wrong section. So I build my own gaming PC and I've been using it for some months now, but recently I noticed a weird static noise coming from my PSU, I'm certain it's the PSU because I ruled out the video card and the CPU fan.the noise starts whenever I play a demanding game or I have to much stuff going on my computer.a little fix that I found is to set my power options to "balanced" instead of "high performance", but using balanced lowers the performance on almost every game.I'm using an EVGA 500W.here you can hear clearly the sound I'm talking about when I'm in the high-performance option: https://clyp.it/k1uuem1land just for reference this is when I'm using the balanced one: https://clyp.it/kcidmrdi I'll leave the sounds attached to the topic in case any of the links expiresMy biggest concern right now is to confirm this is indeed coil whine and not something more dangerous to my computer, I'm still changing the PSU when I get paid, but that's still a whole month away, I just want to know If I can relax until then and still play video games like usual or should I be careful until I get a new PSU.Thanks in advance for any help, sorry again if this is the wrong place. sound .mp3 nothing.mp3

Replaced a fan and the thermal paste on my computer today, and when I plugged it back it it won't turn on. Parts are in my signature. The PSU passes the paper clip test, psu fan spun up as well as the fans that were connected to the case fan controller. My motherboard has a dedicated power button which is nice. It has an LED in it that always lights up when there is power to the motherboard, and it's not lit, as the kids would say. I did not unplug any cables except the fan header and pump header. I've tried unplugging various things but not everything. Removed CMOS battery for 5+ minutes, used the CMOS reset button and still nothing. I have not moved memory or uninstalled the CPU, and this is my only system in my house so I can't plug other components into it or vice versa. While doing the thermal paste application I was often moving around the house wearing socks on hardwood floors gathering supplies and I'm not sure how many times I touched the metal on my PC case... Any help would be greatly appreciated. This comes at the worst time to, as I was just telling my friend how easy it will be to build her computer and not break anything.....

Hi! I´m looking to start overclocking, so i´m wondering if i could get some general tips and knowledge that could aid me with this? My system is running a gtx 780 asus DCU II and a rysen r7 1700 with the wraith spire cooler. What clocks do these components usually go up to? So i have some kind of base line of where to start. Hello guys long time watcher of Linus, first time on the forum. I just bought a new house and I need to do my first real network. This is the house ( not scaled nor anything). The red lines are the connections that need to be made. My fiber to RJ45 thing needs to be in the living room. my questions are: Should I pull a cable to the second floor and place my router there and connect each PC to a port? And then a cable back to the living room the the Pi + the TV. Should I leave the router on the 1st floor pull a cable to the second floor and put a switch then 2 cables(one for each pc)? About a media storage, Should I use Raspberry pi, a synology NAS, or my router built in media storage with an attached external HDD? ( I don't need any RAID).

Ok guys, trying to help my brother find a good monitor used, and we're searching through a lot of them on a norwegian website called Finn.no Found 3 different monitors, and i don't know what to do. If you could find a better deal i would be glad to check them out, 1 dollar is a little more than 8 kroners, so you can compare prices. https://www.finn.no/bap/forsale/search.html?sub_category=1.93.3215&category=0.93&product_category=2.93.3215.45 The monitors i've found are: https://www.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=89621423 https://www.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=96740506 https://www.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=96682679 https://www.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=96672331 If i could get any help, that would be great ^^ There is no set budget, however my brother will most certainly be playing with an rx 580, gtx 1060, 970 or 1050ti, he would like to keep it 1080p.

I'm looking to build a PC that can function as a home office. Something that can load spreadsheets quickly and store lots of data, and yes, I want it to play games on it relatively well. 1. Price: I'm looking to spend around $0-$600ish dollars on this build, but cheaper is preffered. 2. Aim: Like I said, this is going to be an office PC. I want something that can run office programs and, this is a big one, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere. If at all possible I would also like it to run games, such as Diablo III at a decent framerate. (I don't need anything crazy for gaming, though, because Diablo III is probably the most GPU demanding game I will ever play) [Skipping step three because I already have a good monitor] 4. Peripherals: I already have a mouse and keyboard on stand-by, but suggestions would be nice , I also want Windows 10 5. Why I'm Upgrading: I currently use a pre-built Dell PC (The Inspiron 660) and it runs like a mushy potato. It's slow and it gets very hot, the parts are very old and it's just time to replace it. I went ahead and created a PC with those specifications, feedback and ideas are welcome. Case: Corsair Carbide Series 200R [ATX Mid-Tower] Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-UD5 [LGA 1151 Slot] CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3M 3.7 GHz [LGA 1151 Slot] CPU Cooler: COOLERMASTER RR-212X-20PM-R1 120mm RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM [x1 Stick] GPU: GeForce GTX 680 2GB DDR3 PCI-E [x1 GPU] Power Supply: EVGA 600 B1 600W 80+ Bronze HDD: WD Blue 1TB Desktop HDD 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch [x2 HDDs'] All of this is complete guesswork on my part, due to my lack of PC knowledge. Please help

Hey guys, I've been looking around for PC parts for a while. I would like to spend around $800-$900 CAD on parts (not including OS). I would use this computer for schoolwork, CAD, graphic design, game design, drawing, programming, and games including Battlefield, Esports games, and a couple other indie games. Would you say this build is cost effective? Are their any suggestions you think I should consider? Anyway thanks a bunch for the help. Hey so I'm just wondering if upgrading a CPU would be worth it, I was thinking running an i3 6100 for at least half a year, and then upgrading to an i5 6600 or something along the lines. I will be pairing this with an amd rx 470 video card. So overall I was epndering if it should be done. I'd love to here other's opinions and suggestion. Also I'd appreciate it if you guys could recommend me a cheap atx that's compatible. Thanks again.
