I am currently trying to troubleshoot my motherboard's rear USB3.0 ports not functioning as anything other than USB2.0. USBTreeView is reporting Superspeed USB3.0 capable ports that don't correspond to any of my physical ports. Because I am using a HAF-X case, which predates internal headers, I can't just plug those in to try. Can anyone suggest any USB3.0 expansion solution? I am unfortunately out of PCI slots and hot swap bays, so ideally a 5.25" bay or conversion of the front USB3.0 ports would be ideal. I've looked around but I couldn't seem to find any way to directly go from male USB A (what I would need for front IO) to male internal connector, All the 5.25" bay solutions I've looked at seemed to either have additional unnecessary connectors (card readers, USB-C, front audio, etc). I would be looking in the EU so any suggestions even for where to look would be quite appreciated.

Hey folks, the last time I built a rig is 5 loong years in the past with much less of a budget. Please treat me like a total n00b for this one I want to assemble a new (mostly) gaming rig at ~1.5k€ and was wondering, if the parts I selected are compatible and if this system as I want to assemble it would support my very first OC. Would you recommend any better parts for the cause that arent financially out of reach? Hey guys I'm planning on gutting my rig and giving it a clean (haven't done in a good few months), and it got me thinking about re-arranging the fans in my HAF X. Starting at the top of the case, I have 2x 200mm fans that are pumping air out of the case. Side panel, using another 200mm fan as an intake (I also took the shroud (sorry for spelling) off that is supposed to better direct air onto the video card). Front, I'm using the included 230mm as an intake. And lastly, at the rear I have 2 mounted 120mm fans on my Corsair H60 intaking on a push-pull config. I just keep having the feeling like its not really an optimal setup. My case sits next to me in an open area next to a wall, and probably 10-14 inches from the (heating) radiator in my room. Ambient temps I'm guessing 22-25C, may pop a thermometer in my room try get some numbers for during the day, and night. Cheers! ~Dan

First of all, I apologize if this is in the wrong section but seeing as how one of the core questions relates to large air coolers I figured this was the place to start To get to the main point and avoid some of the background, feel free to scroll down to just past the specs Ok so I'm gathering information on a new build, have been for some time and I just want to go over a couple things and maybe get some reassurances before finally committing. This will be my third build so far and it has been a long time (maybe 6 years) since my last. I never have made the step into liquid cooling. Seeing as how this is a special circumstance and I won't be able to do this again for a long time again, I don't want to make any mistakes. Because of my hesitance, I am not comfortable enough to try to create my own custom water loop. I am ok with that and am fairly adamant on that subject. I am however slightly more open to maybe getting an effective AiO setup, maybe like a Nepton 280l. I am not completely sold on this though and don't know if I want to put the life of my computer in the hands of something that when it finally craps out (whether that be the next day or 4 years later), it could take any number of components with it. On the other side of the coin, I would be perfectly happy with an all air cooling solution. A good air cooler definitely holds its own with fewer drawbacks and can even run much quieter. The two main coolers I have been considering are the Noctua Dh15 and the Cryorig R1 (Ultimate preferred of course, Universal if I have to). Now of course the problems I face here are compatibility issues with ram clearance, partial obstruction of a PCIe slot, and sometimes even the case. To give a bit of information to help clear things up: Case - HAF X MOBO - Asus Maximus VII Hero GPU - GTX 980ti RAM - Up for debate depending on the cooler CPU - I7 4790k Ok finally the actual questions. I might end up overclocking slightly at some point in the future but probably not much higher than maybe 4.5 which is already close to the 4790k's turbo speed anyway. I want a cooler that can handle anything I throw at it without a sweat even if I wake up one morning and decide I'm suddenly the world's best OCer, or if I just want to increase the longevity with the lowest temps possible. Should I give in and get an AiO liquid cooler which will fit in my case, won't obstruct anything on the mobo, and arguably looks much nicer in a rig but with the known risks of liquid coolers and possibly a bit noisier...OR Should I go for a high end air cooler such as the noctua or the cryorig which run quieter, just as efficient, but with a much larger profile (and in the noctua's case, much uglier in my opinion). Given my current specs, what kind of obstructions might I be looking at in my case with the Noctua dh15 or the Cryorig R1 Ultimate? Is it worth converting to an AiO setup for the increased convenience/aesthetics? In the end I know it comes down to personal choice and I shouldn't pick something I might regret later even if it is supposedly more efficient, but any sort of information I can get to help me narrow down my choice is deeply appreciated. So the plan is to install a H100i on the ceiling of my HAF X, where usually the 200mm fan is (working as an exhaust). I thing the pull config would give the best performance (fans on the underside of the rad, all inside the case) I'm worried what that kind of config would do to my pressure inside. Since there is a 230mm on the front, and a 200mm on the side both as intakes. The only exhaust then would be the 140mm fan on the back. Also, I'd be left with one 200mm fan (comes on top of the case as stock), any idea if is should let it on top of the rad, above the internal ceiling, just under the top filters, or just toss it out? This is the stock config, that it's rocking now: So basically I'd turn the top exhaust into a RAD intake (the top two red arrows facing up would be blue facing down). Also to mention, I have a Zalman 6-channel fan controller (ZM-MFC1) to which all the case fans are hooked up.

does the haf x drive bays support 2.5 inch drives and no i dont wanna use the hot swap bays

Hey guys, First of all, this is my first post in this forum community so yay! I've been planning this baby for about a month and a half now and I need the finishing cooling touch. I chose the HAF X case because of the good reviews, saying it has excellent air flow, building this in SolidWorks prooved it to be correct, and with great hopes to avoid the water cooling - which I read about and now dread of due to occasional leaks! So... My specs are: Cooler Master HAF X case - the built in fans(23cm in the front, 20cm top and 14cm rear) Corsair AX760I Modular Intel® Core™ i7-4960X Processor Extreme Edition (15M Cache, up to 4.00 GHz) ASUS X79-DELUXE EVGA 780 Ti Superclocked 3GB Intel® SSD 530 Series (240GB, 2.5in SATA 6Gb/s, 20nm, MLC) Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit - OEM Crucial 16GB kit (8GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-14900 memory module I will, in the not so far future, would want to OC this build. The primary use will be gaming and the secondary will be for SolidWorks 2013. What else? No custom water cooling right now..I want to go with air & closed water loops. Any ideas would be warmly welcome, any critisicm is just as welcome! Thanks. So I have been searching for a full-tower case for my PC, within my $250 budget. If I had the money I would go for the 900D, or the SilverStone TJ-07, however I simply don't. I have been looking into the 750D and HAF-X cases. They seem to fit my needs, but I am still unsure. What I would like to know is, do you have a personal recommendation for me to look into (within my budget)? This is just a casual post to see your ideas as to what you think I should do. I don't use water cooling so that doesn't need to be taken into consideration. Looking for a case with great air-flow I use a standard ATX motherboard. Looks aren't a necessity, but rather a bonus.

Hello, This is my first build log so be patient with me if I seem a bit rusty on this one. 1. The budget for this build is around 1500 to 1600 €. Please consider that despite the fact that I have put all the parts in pcpartpicker, this build will be assembled and bought in Spain. Here we don't have such a wide variety of components, especially in pcpartpicker, that's why prices and variety may deviate. 2. The purpose of this build is gaming and programming as I am studying Computer Science (I think that's how you call it). I don't plan to edit videos or music or any type of editing at all, at least in the near future. The type of games that I would like to play are basically League of Legends (LoL), and FPS like Battlefield, CoD. I might also play WoW and Tera, and have no intention on playing games like Minecraft or such. What I mean with this is that I need a powerful graphics card, although I'm aware that LoL isn't much of a resource sucker. 3. I plan on running 1 monitor that is 1080p. In the future I might buy another monitor, but I highly doubt that I will get more than 1080p resolution, at least for the next 2 to 3 years. 4. I don't need any type of peripherals like keyboards or mice, although I will get a monitor because I don't have one. (You can check it in the part list). I don't need OS either. 5. I'm upgrading because for the past 3 years or so, I've been doing all my gaming, college stuff and programming on my HP dv6 laptop, which to be honest, isn't as fast as I thought it would be. You can add 80€ to the build above. Some thoughts on the build: - I was thinking to install Windows 8 in it. Better than 7? -As you probably have already checked, I don't really plan to OC the CPU. I might upgrade the CPU itself in 3 or 4 years, and then I'll probably overlclock it and watercool it, but not right now. That's why I didn't choose a really big CPU cooler by any means. -I plan on overclocking the graphics card when it fails to deliver enough power to run the games that I play at optimal performance (high/ultra with 60+ fps). So I doubt that I will have to overclock it this year, maybe next year with new games I'll have to. -What are your thoughts on the graphics card? I was thinking on waiting for the non-reference 290 to show up later this month, and if it's at a nice price point changing my build graphics to that one instead of the Matrix 280x. Or I could get the 280x and if games in the next years start to stutter a bit, I could Crossfire two of them. I am open-minded to suggestions, although some things that I wouldn't change are: -The manufacturer of the MoBo (I really like Asus). -The manufacturer of the CPU (Personal preference Intel over AMD). -The SSD itself. -The size of the monitor.
