  1. After Steve from Gamers Nexus made his recent video about AIO radiator placement, I tried to change the placement of my Corsair H100i V2 and have had some trouble getting my computer to perform well in terms of noise or temperature levels. I'm not sure if I messed something up or if I just became more conscious of them when monitoring my temps (I'm not blaming Steve here). Until recently, I've had the Corsair AIO cooling my i7-7700k at 4.8GHz in my Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 6 and a bunch of 140mm be quiet! Pure Wings 2 fans (some accidentally ordered as PWM and others not). I recently added 2 more 120mm Aer P fans for push/pull on the radiator. 1x140mm top rear exhaust, 2x140mm top exhaust, 1x 140mm lower front intake, 4x120mm on the rad top front intake. All of the be quiet 140mm fans are plugged into motherboard headers (ASUS Maximus IX Hero), the Corsair fans are plugged into motherboard CPU fan headers, and the new NZXT fans are plugged into the split Y headers on the Corsair AIO pump itself. So, everything but the NZXT fans are controlled by ASUS Fan Xpert. My issue now is that my computer is much louder with all of these fans running as well as heating up my room very quickly. I'm questioning if I need to tweak my fan curves or if I have too many fans. I've also thought about buying a new case with better vents/airflow to toss everything in and scratch the itch of building something new (ex. Corsair Airflow 4000D). The Cooler Master case is pretty big and bulky and doesn't have the best vents (I at least have the panels popped to the "open" position and the front completely tilted open when gaming). Should I keep my radiator front mounted? Should I keep doing push/pull? How much would moving the rad to the top affect my GPU temps (currently maxing out on 67C under intense gaming)?
  2. A few months ago, I bought some Noctua NF-S12 fans with no intention of water cooling in the future. I also had a different case then, which is why I bought 120mm fans. The Noctuas are super quiet, which is very important to me because I use my computer primarily for music production. But, my CPU temps have getting uncomfortably high with the stock fan on my 6700, so I ordered a H100i v2. I'm also moving to a new setup where my PC is going to be on my desk, and I want it to look nice. Therefore I opted for a bit of an overkill option. I understand that I can achieve the best performance with static pressure fans on my radiator, and these Noctua fans are definitely airflow optimized. The fans were pretty expensive, though! Should I ditch them in favor or the included static pressure fans? Does anyone have any experience with how loud the included fans are?
  3. I am upgrading my PC which currently is running: i5-3570k 16GB 1866MHz RAM Asus Sabertooth Z77 motherboard GTX 660ti. power supply and hard drives I feel are irrelevant. What I am looking at purchasing is listed here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7yfX3F Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor Corsair H100i v2 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Asus STRIX Z270-E GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3400 Memory Asus GeForce GTX 1080 8GB STRIX Video Card Cooler Master Storm Trooper ATX Full Tower Case EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply The case is the one I am already using. I'm planning on reusing it. I am just looking for some advice on possible better value for my money and overall ratings of the build. Thanks to all in advance
  4. On my 7700k, I was able to reach a max of 5252 MHz at 1.37V stable, but was ridiculously hot. I then opted to go silent by lowering the frequency and voltage down. I am pretty sure I've hit the silicon lottery with a stable OC'd 7700k set to 4.8GHz at 1.120V. I don't have a GPU yet, so I'm using the integrated Intel HD 630, overclocked to a ratio of 28 at 1.4V at 3030MHz. My temps never go above 70C on the CPU, with my fan curve set so my fans never go above 1000 RPM. It is nice and quiet! Have I hit the lottery? Specs: CPU: 7700k at 4.8GHz 1.120V GPU: Intel Graphics HD 630 at 1.4GHz 1.4V Mobo: Asus Maximus Hero IX (z270) CPU AIO: Corsair H100i-v2 at less than 1000RPM Case: NZXT H440 Razer Edition PSU: EVGA Supernova 650W (80+ Gold) RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 3000MHz 32GB (16GB x2) SSD/M.2: Intel 600p Series NVMe 256GB HDD: WD Green 1TB + old drives less than 200GB for Windows recovery/backups What kind of stable frequency and temps are you seeing at 1.2V?
  5. I own a h100i v2 water cooler and i would like to connect it to a alpha cool gpu water block So i was thinking about cutting one of the aio tubes in hald and connecting both ends to a quick disconnect fitting. Then connect the other ends of the fittings to pvc tubes and connect that to the gpu. As shown below in the picture
  6. Hey everyone, Finished my build and am a bit concerned about the temps I am seeing. Is this normal? I7 6700k not overclocked in an NZXT H440 case with a Corsair H100i V2 AIO. w IC Diamond compound. Seeing 50c at idle and 72c at load with Real Bench. What seems odd to me is the temp bounce a lot + - 5 degrees on idle and load all different cores. I had an i7 950 with an H60 that had got lower temps and the temps were more stable temps. it was in a different case.
  7. Hey guys, i only have a $145 budget set aside for watercooling. I'm currently using a Phanteks TC12DX to cool my 7700k, which is fine at stock frequencies but which leaves little headroom for overclocking, as i intend to push my chip to about 5.0GHz. Although the price of a 100i v2 kit on Amazon/Newegg is ~$110, it's bloated to $140 where i'm from, so i'm considering buying a cheaper 240 AiO and swapping out the stock fans with EK-Vardar fans (which, according to reviews, are excellent fans for watercooling). On the whole, the ID Cooling Frostflow 240 + 2xVardar combo would cost me $128 (again, prices where i'm from are bloated). So, has anyone tried out a cheap rad+expensive fans combo before? Is it gonna be better than a Corsair h100i v2? P/S: I did consider buying parts for a custom loop, but i have no experience, and frankly, i'm a bit of a noob, so i prefer simple, foolproof solutions
  8. Hello. Last week i issued an RMA because the pump on my H100i V2 stopped working. I got the package today and i installed it as usual. The thing is that, i started the pc and the temps seemed normal until i tried stressing the cpu to see how much it would cool. I tried with prime95 and the temperatures went to 95°C then i stopped but it could go higher i thik. 95°C seems too high even for an AIO. My specs are: Intel I7 6700k EVGA 1070 SC EVGA Supernova 750G2 16GB of GSkill RAM I really don't know what is causing the high temps, last time i tried prime95 the temps wouldn't get higher than 75 °C Today i am going to try and buy some thermal paste and see if that may fix the problem. Also when i started the pc just after changing the AIO, the temps went to 60°C with just corsair link open. What do you guys think?? Have you had any similar problem??
  9. So I am building another computer and the last time I did this was 6 years ago. I have a slight problem with my H100i V2 installation. I notice substantial wiggle room happening after I install the backplate for intel installation and I am nervous about this. I am wondering if there is anything I can do about this wiggle since it does not seem right to me. I will say that I have no completed my installation nor attached the pump because it seems to me like this wiggle shouldn't even happen. Especially after installing standoffs to me it should not wiggle. I have seen people adding washers to them..and results have been good but just figured since I follow this channel on youtube a lot that I would ask for advice here. My Rig: I7-7700K ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero LGA1151 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard H100i V2 Corsair and a be quiet! Silent 800 W/ window
  10. Hi guys, I'm about to buy H100i v2 for my 6700k. But I don't know that AIO rad fans should be exhause or intake for best performance and air flow. By the way, is this picture below shows good airflow?
  11. So you know how you get that little USB type B connectors for Corsair PSU and AIO's. They come with a JUSB header connector that has only one side populated. If you want to save space and gain two USB headers to add to your system without adding an external USB hub. you can take the 4 pins from one, and add it to the other to make one cable. The pin-out is the same, not reversed (although that would have been smart) So it's easy to just lift up the little tabs and consolidate the female connectors together. Pictures to help convey the point:
  12. Hi everyone. I just upgraded my air cooler to a Corsair H100i AIO. I've obtained a good 4.4 OC on air, and I've been trying to get something higher with the AIO. I'm up to 4.5 currently, and it seems stable. I've done a bunch of searching online, and I know that the temps for AMD MB's are weird. My question is that the only temp that has me sort of worried is my TEMP 2 reading. Without load, it runs ~55 degrees C, but under Prime 95 its reaches ~82 degrees C. What is a "safe" limit for this? Is this my socket temp? If not, which physical part of the board is this? I can keep playing with my voltages to see if I can get it lower. Is TEMP 2 something to worry about? Again, practicing OC on an FX so when I upgrade to something more serious, I'm slightly more educated on what I'm doing. So another related question is should I be playing more with FSB freq than with multiplier? When I raise FSB above 200, it's much harder to stabilize than with multiplier. Here are my specs: Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming CPU: FX 6350 Black Edition RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1866 SSD: RAID 0 x2 PNY 1311 PSU OCZ 700Watt Case: NZXT Phantom, Fullsize Again, thanks in advance.
  13. Here's my latest build including peripherals with a total cost of around $2600+(usd). The parts are more expensive where I'm from so if you build this exact same pc it might not be as expensive. Specs: Intel core i7 6700k(overclocked to 4.6) Corsair H100i v2 Asus strix gtx1080 8gb Asus maximus viii ranger Intel 600p 240gb m.2 ssd Seagate Ironwolf 3tb 7200rpm hdd Corsair red af120 silent edition Nzxt Noctis 430 16gb(2x8) hyper x ddr4 ram Custom red and black extensions D-link n300 pcie wireless adapter Cooler Master v650 Peripherals: Lg 29uc57 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor Corsair Strafe RGB cherry blue Logitech G502 proteus spectrum Corsair mm300 Logitech speakers( forgot the model) Air pressure in the case is neutral with three 120mm intakes from the front, two exhaust from the top(pull from rad) and one exhaust at the back. PSU is facing down.None of the fans were connected to the included hub in the noctis but straight to the mother board for individual control. Future add ons include an rgb strip which has not arrived yet. The ikea malm desk which also has not arrived yet. Looking forward to doing all the cable management when the new desk arrives. The pc name is noctus btw. Once everything is setup, I plan to enter setup wars ??
  14. Hi guys im upgrading my h60 soon and I got the h100i v2 will be coming in a couple of weeks from amazon and im worried about the mounting. im worried that there will be only one place i can mount the radiator and the masterbox 5 does not have options to put exhaust fans going out from the top. even i have exhaust fan at the back, air passing through the radiator will still pass through the components then will come out through the exhaust. that made me thinking "they will be like heat sinks right?" something like this fresh air --> intake fan --> radiator fins --> warm air --> ram, mobo, gpu --> exhaust fan --> warmer air this might get the motherboard, the graphics card, and the memory heater if i put the orientation on the fans to take fresh air into the case i dunno. so im thinking ill put the radiator fans as exhaust still mounted at the front and ill put the rear fan as intake.
  15. Hi guys.. I made a PC yesterday and i’m having a problem with cpu temps. pc spec: strix z270e motherboard intel i7-7700k gskill trident z rgb 2x8gb 3200mhz cl16 strix gtx 1060 6gb corsair h100i v2 cpu cooler When i first booted up the system i went directly to update the bios updates. After that inatalled windows 10 and all drivers for mb, gpu and cpu. The cpu had turbo boost activated and was running at 4.5ghz. I saw the idling temps of 36 celsius and i tought it was because of the turbo boost.. the problem was and still is that they are fluctuating a lot.. they jump from 36 to 44 , 54 also even if i only move the mouse.. after turning turbo boost off, I thought a this would settle, but no.. everything is the same. I reapplied thermal paste, assured everything was tight and still the same.. im thinking the motherboard sensor is broken.. i also tried running real bech stress test but it wouldn’t start because “error at gathering system information”. Note the water temp in the cooler tab . please help thank you!
  16. Hi guys i just upgraded upgraded my h60 to the h100i v2. 1. where exactly do i need to connect the pump cables? currently its connected like this 3pin = cpu_fan y connectors = 2 fans on the radiator link cable = usb header (only thing im sure) 2. where to i set the pump to 100% speed, MOBO = asus z97-a 3. I have evga 750 g3, can i plug the pump there? some people say it has to be connected there and NOT to the MOBO thanks in advance
  17. Hi, I recently finshed building my gaming rig. Specs: i7-7700k MSI Z270 A PRO 16GB Ballistix DDR4 2400 Cryorig H7 Cooler So, here is the story, I am an animator and video editor and I need to sqeeze as much speed as I can out of my cpu. Currently I'm running at 4.8GHz with max temps during stress test at 75C. So my question is: If I upgrade my cooling to a corsair H100, can I reach 5.2GHz on all cores? Also another quick qestion, should I just put distilled water in my liquid cooler? Or should I put speical coolent in it(ex.thermaltake c1000 coolant). Hope you guys can help me!
  18. I was originally planning on buying the i5 7600k 4 core Kaby lake, but I am leaning towards the i5 8600k 6 core Coffee lake instead. I will get the Corsair h100i v2 in push-pull, and I was wondering how how far i should go when overclocking. Sorry if it's a stupid question, I've never overclocked anything more than 4 cores. Rest of the main components: -gtx 1070 -8gb ddr4 2400 RAM -750w psu (I know its overkill, i got a really good price) -Asus ROG Strix z270H mobo
  19. Hey there, So I have a question of fan configuration and airflow/cooling. I have the Corsair Carbide 400C case and the H100i 240mm CPU cooler is up front with the two fans pushing air from the front of the case through the rad. I also have 4 other case fans and I'm not sure if I am building up negative pressure because the rad decreases the velocity(?)/amount of air directly through the case. I would love to have a full push/pull config on the rad but I don't have enough fans and it seems it would be quite tight for the graphics card and the 24pin motherboard power cord. I have a fan below the rad but I don't think it's doing much, pushing air through the shroud for the HDD and PSU. I feel like it could be used better elsewhere. So I'm thinking of moving it to the bottom half of the rad for pull and to help the GPU(980Ti) a bit more. Do you think that would help or make any difference? -I'm not looking for drastic temp change, just better airflow. So my question is: Is the config that I have right now sufficient and just keep the front fans on a higher speed, Or change the fans a bit and try for a 3/4 push/pull? Thanks!
  20. This is a repost from the corsair forums but I am hoping someone here has advice for me. The CPU is a 7700k and the motherboard is a ROG Strix Z270e. 16 GB DDR4 850 EVO 2tb GTX 1080 EVGA Supernova 850 G2 CM Storm Scout 2 Windows 10 Pro BIOS version 1009 -Original- I have a CPU cooling problem and I wanted to cover all my bases before I run out and get a new cooler. I was using a H100i V2 cooler in my case, however I now suspect it maybe dead. I am using a newly built computer I put together a week ago however the 100i is from my previous build and now about a year and a half old. As I was leaving my apartment started installing Asus AI Suite 3, a program that required restarting my computer. I was not here for the process but when I got back I noticed that my cpu temps were in the 80's at idle. First thought was that AI Suite messed up the sensors, so I uninstalled the program and then re-flashed the bios, however this did not solve the problem. Finally I removed the cooler from my cpu and installed an old Intel stock cooler I had laying around. With the stock cooler I am now getting temperatures around 32 degrees, so the problem is seemingly solved. My issue comes from the fact that in bios my motherboard was rpm values from the pump. The Strix 270e motherboard has an AIO pump header so my assumption is that if the pump was not running there would have been no rpm value for that header in bios. Finally when taking off the cooler I noticed that the tubes on the cooler were warm near the block but room temperature near the radiator and that the radiator itself was cool. -Update- The header on the motherboard is under the io and is labeled AIO_Pump. In bios it also shows up as a pump running about 1400 rpm with a Q-fan curve that is set to 100% full full time. I have the H100i v2 plugged in and just ran Prime95 for about 5 minutes (This is a new CPU and I am hesitant on how long I should run it at these temps) and Core Temp pegged at 100 degrees almost instantly. Using corsair link the registered temp from the cooler climbed from 29 to 45.1 over that time and the CPU throttled from 4.20 to 4.01 over that time. I agree that installing AISuit would make it fail is very unlikely but I am at a loss to describe what happened. EDIT Idle temps do come down to 40 quite quickly when Prime95 was stopped but then the Link and CPU temp took 10 minutes to down to 30 degrees which seems to be its lowest value. I do have another H100i v2 that I just bought yesterday but I am leaving it sealed in case I can return it.
  21. So I have a rather expensive computer tricked out with a 6800k and h100i v2 cooler. I was doing general system tasks and I noticed the Cpu was getting quite hot, I checked the cooler and the fans weren't running. After an hour of painful troubleshooting, I uninstalled Corsair link and my problem was fixed, the CPU fan was now controlled through Asus's proprietary motherboard control software that came with my Asus x99a II motherboard. This seemed ok, but when I went to run a game that was CPU intensive (universe sandbox 2) to test it the game stuttered and performed worse than my computer with a 6700k. My main questions are, how do I run Corsair link without interfering with the Asus software, and how do I find the root of the stuttering problem. Thanks, Ethan
  22. OK so a week ago I built my first computer but being the noob I am I installed the AIO cooler water block upside down and my question is would it be safe to rotate it to be right side up without changing the thermal paste and it not harming my cpu temps? so you know I have an H100i v2 on a I7-6850k overclocked to 4.4Ghz. please don't leave your oppinion if you are just guessing cause I don't want my PC screwed up. Thx
  23. I am buying a Corsair H100I V2 to cool my i7 6700K. I have thermal paste remover from Arctic and microfiber cloths, along with other better thermal compound. I have heard that pre applied thermal paste is not that good at all (dangerous CPU temps, shorter CPU life), so I plan to remove the pre applied paste on this cooler and replace with my own. Is the pre applied removed normally just like any other thermal paste (with my arctic remover)? Or am I wrong about pre applied paste being worse and just leave it there? And also, whenever I remove the cooler for a quick upgrade or mobo change/CPU change (which might be soon, as in weeks or a month), will I need to re apply the thermal paste even though it is freshly on?
  24. While the h100i v2 fans do somewhat work okay, I would much rather manually control the fans to ensure proper cooling with the Corsair LINK program. But there are no other USB internal headers on my z170m MORTAR MSI motherboard other than the one for front panel USB. What do you recommend I do to plug the cooler into USB?
  25. So I've been noticing over the last several months that my CPU temps have risen a bit. Previously I was using a H105. After a huge fiasco with swapping cases, I thought my H105 was faulty, so I got a H100i V2 with new 120mm Maglev fans. Well anyways with my h105 previously in prime 95 small FFTs i got around 80C, with SP120mm fans spinning at 1100RPM at most. But with my new H100i V2 with MagLev fans spinning at over 1500RPM, (same case and case fans too BTW), my temps are well above the 90C mark. Thermal paste I'm quite sure is spot on. It's the stock thermal paste right on the H100i V2, and I already know how to replace these AIOs as I changed out an H105 over 4 times last week. Specs: 4690K @ 4.5ghz 1.250v H100i V2 120mm maglev fans @ 1700RPM (when maxing out on synthetic.
