Hey everyone. I'm wondering what you would recommend for a network set up these days. I visited my parents house over the weekend which is a 2 story house and they've set up the downstairs bedroom for Air bnb people to stay in. I immediately noticed that they were handing out the WiFi password to their main network rather than having a guest one which raised security concerns for me. Doesn't look like their current router can do guest networks or Vlans so I've been looking into options to replace their router. I was thinking Unifi like I have set up at home but they're not the most tech savvy type so they'd need me to troubleshoot any issues and I'm not sure if it's entirely required since they don't have many active connections. That along with WiFi 6 coming more mainstream and i was thinking perhaps the TP Archer Ax 10 but I'm not experienced with archer routers to know how good they are. Anyway, what would you recommend here?

Hello everyone, I need help installing a network for my home in a rack. I want to have two networks, one private for us and one for guests. What do I need for this? How do I set it up and start it? Thanks for the help in advance.

I am trying to get a CentOS kvm and Ubuntu (host) to recognize each other over the network. I've been searching for about two weeks now and found no solution to my issue: The guest can ping the host, but the host can't ping the guest.

for those who know who electroboom is wouldn't it be fun if he were to do a demo / have a booth at ltx? not sure if linus know's about his channel or not but if not a ltx then a collab video on ltt would be awesome also i think mehdi (electrboom) is in vancouver.

Is there a free method to add a local account that has its data wiped every time you log off the account, in other words whenever you sign in to the account it would show the "Hi, Getting things ready for you" screen that comes when you sign into a new account? Tried adding guest account but that doesn't wipe data on log off, tried guest but that doesn't block the account from accessing other user folders and I've heard it doesn't let you add any more accounts to Windows.

I'm setting up a computer for public use at a library. It came with windows 10 home. I need to set it up so it doesn't remember any changes a user makes and starts them fresh from the default profile each time it logs in. Essentially what the guest account used to be on previous versions of windows. I've got the default account customized using audit mode and sysprep with copyprofile. I've been unsuccessful in setting up a mandatory profile and have turned to registry editing to reroute the location of the user directory to Users/TEMP, which works well, but always shows warnings about it being a temporary profile. I'd like to suppress these warnings if possible in order to not confuse users. I'm open to any suggestions for other methods of locking the system down too.

With yesterday being the final day to upgrade to Windows 10 I decided to take the plunge and see how I liked it. I made sure to create an image of my old Windows 7 installation so that I can roll back to exactly how I had the computer whenever I want, even after the 30 day limit the in-built tool allows me too. So that is always an option for me, but it is a drastic one and I would like to stick with Windows 10 but this is something that I need to get sorted. So some background information... I have my desktop computer that is used primarily by myself, but occasionally by other people in the house too. There were two accounts set up on the old installation; my password-protected main account, and a Guest account. I liked having the Guest account as it allowed me enact a number of restrictions on the computer if someone was to use it whilst I was not present (for example to limit access to certain folders or HDDs, as well as being unable to make any system changes or install / uninstall any programs without my password). This wasn't something that I was aware had been removed in Windows 10, but upon now trying to get to grips with the new OS it appears the Guest account is gone. It's not on the User Select screen. Can't see the option in Control Panel. Googling gives me mixed results, some saying it's totally gone with others saying that you can get it back with this method or another. I have tried one method where you go to Computer Management > Local Users and Groups > Users > Guest > un-tick "Account is disabled" which does bring back the Guest account option to the User Select select screen, but upon loading into the account the screens go black and nothing loads.I was getting error messages saying that Explorer Shell was crashing, or something to that effect. But they don't appear to be coming up now. Just a black / blank screen. Can see the mouse cursor, but that's it. Have to Windows Key + L to get back to the User Select screen. As I say, I've read there are numerous different methods and workarounds but they all seem to be rather dated suggestions and I wanted to know what the present state of affairs is with all this. That being said, can anyone please confirm (that as of today) whether or not the Guest account feature is working / available within Windows 10 Pro? ---If so, how can I get it up and running? ---If not, how can I create a new account with the same limitations? Furthermore the Guest account also have a number of documents and files saved on that account. Sure I can get them all back through C:\Users\Guest or through my backup image, and copy and paste them to wherever I want them to be. But there were also a number of favourites saved within Chrome on the account too. How can I recover these, without using a virtual desktop thing and mounting my old image?

Hello Nerds! My name is Jerry (aka. Barnacules) and I recently was a guest on the WAN show and I had an absolute blast. Linus and SlickPC are a great bunch of guy and I felt very comfortable and welcome. I love meeting new like minded nerds so I figured I would come over here and create an account on the forum. My channel is very diverse but has a common theme of technology and my Nerd Cave (the room I shoot in) is a bit over the top because I enjoy sharing my crazy idea of what I like with the rest of the world (even if it's not everyones cup of tea). It's a great company to work for but I am in no way a 'fan boy'. I own and use all technology! A good eample would be console gaming. I have a XBOX One, PS4 and WiiU and I like each one of them for different reasons (The WiiU I'm still trying to figure out to be completely honest ) and for laptops I have a MacBook Pro 17 and a Lenovo X1 Carbon and for tablets I have a Google Nexus 7 (Android), Apple iPad (iOS) and a Microsoft Surface RT (Windows 8.1) and I use them all. A lot of people like to throw the fan boy tag on me once I say I work at Microsoft but the truth is I'm a much more effective employee when I have an open mind about all technology and become aware of all technology instead of just blindly saying 'ours in the best' and ignoring the competition. YouTube is my hobby and I love doing producing. My YouTube channel is in no way affiliated with Microsoft and is a personal production of me during my own free time so please don't ask me questions about things that would fall under an NDA nature. I absolutely love the people I've met online producing it and I love sharing my videos with the world. If I'm completely honest I do like showing off (who doesn't). It's fun to show people the stuff you have especially when you built it, modified it or did something to make it your own. I also love seeing other peoples setups and I'm blown away by some of the stuff I found online through some of my subscribers and a lot of the inspiration for the stuff I do comes from others. It also makes me smile when I get a mail saying someone created a Nerd Cave and were inspired by me. I'm pretty heavy into most things nerdy, I'm an avid software developer and program in C, C++ & C# primarily using mostly Microsoft technologies and I also do some web development and database development using ASP.NET, MVC4, AJAX, HTML5, CSS & SQL and for fun I enjoy 3D printing (I have an Ultimaker & Robo3D printer) and I love building computers and playing games. There are only a handful of games that I've played through on campaign because I derive real enjoyment from interacting with real people (even when my ass is being handed to me most of the time). It takes a pretty amazing campaign mode to really pull me in. My all time favorite game series would be Metal Gear Solid and Uncharted for PS3 and Guns of the Patriot was probably my favorite game that I played end to end (even my wife loved it). I just finished the main story line in GTA5 and I would say it was a close tie for keeping me engaged, I really loved the characters (mostly Trevor ). I also love cars! I'm a huge fan of rally driving and have completed several classes at DirtFish Rally School (http://dirtfish.com) and also do some IT work for them. My daily driver is a 2005 Subaru WRX STI that is Stage 2 and I never get tired of driving it. I actually can't wait for some snow just so I can lock the diff and do some lock to lock donuts. I also enjoy mountain bike riding and have a Santa Cruz Blur but I really need to get out more (it's too cold right now). I've also taken my car to track days at the Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA and it's been great fun. I try to take any opertunity I can get to go out driving! I also have an amazing racing simulator in the Nerd Cave that I'm in the middle of doing a big overhaul on to add 5 large audio transducers too. You can check it out below if you're interested. They are both produced by great guys that are insanely passionate about technology and really shows in their content. I worked with Tim (@TimmyTechTV) at Microsoft for years and he's a very genuine kind of 'what you see is what you get' kind of guy and I respect that hugely. He has also been a guest on the WAN show before. Jay (@JayzTwoCents) is a guy I met while producing my channel months ago and we hit it off. We have a lot in common and both are very passionate about technology and our families and we have helped eachother out quite a bit and one thing you really need on YouTube is friends and he's been an amazing one. Alright well I'm sure this is way overkill for my first post to the forum but I really wanted to kick off my first thread with some meat on the bone so hopefully people can comment (or troll) with a little information about me not having to go at it blind I look forward to hanging out in the forums and posting much more often. Have done some searching but couldn't find a topic on wether we can request certain peole to be guests on the WAN show. If it is arleady available someone should sticky it so its easy to find. Well my guest request would be a forum members Alpenwasser and Sneff as there builds are awesome. Also youtuber Singularity Computers cause his knowledge on modding and builds would be great to hear about. Just a thought
