Previous System: Ryzen 5 5600x EVGA Geforce GTX 980 SC x570 Aorus ELITE WIFI New System: Ryzen 9 5900x EVGA Geforce GTX 980 SC <------ Broken x570 Aorus ELITE WIFI I swapped my old 5600 for a new 5900. When the computer booted it asked me to reset itfx??? or something like that i forget the exact name. I thought it was because it wanted me to update the bios considering it was asking me to do so because a new cpu was detected. I declined and it came back. Since it warned me to disable bitlocker and my pin before doing so, i powered down my pc and swapped back to the 5600. This is where my nightmare began. I turned the pc back and my screen remained blank. at first i thought i bricked my motherboard, but since all my rgb was coming on, i figured it wasn't the issue. So i started troubleshooting parts and when i swapped out my gpu the login screen came up. I went ahead and re swapped the cpus and and reset itfx??? GPU still doesn't work. Tried redownloading the drivers, they don't detect the gpu. currently have them installed like this

Hi all, I would like to have your thoughts about my idea of "renovating" my crappy gaming computer. So let me sum up the parts in this weird "it's doing it's thing pretty ok" machine. Orignal bought a Asus Predator G3 605: https://www.cnet.com/products/acer-predator-g3-605-e-tower-core-i5-4590-3-3-ghz-8-gb-1-tb/ CPU. Intel Core i5 (4th Gen) 4590 / 3.3 GHz. Well so far I only mention the CPU, because that's what not have been upgraded so far (and the case). The rest is a GTX 980 4GB (Gigabyte), 16GB DDR3 ram, SSD as Harddisk, New Powersupply (think it has 650W now). What I had in mind, was to change the CPU to a i7-4790k, I can find these here refurbished for €250 ($304,88). And at a later stage swapping the GTX 980 for the RTX 3060 (when they are more current on the market). Or would this be a waste of resources, and should I just man up, start saving for something between €1500-€2000. Thanks for your opinion and enjoy the hollidays! -Pangs

So I am looking to upgrade my old gtx 1080 soon assuming the evga queue continues at its current pace, but my question is, I have a gtx 980 running as a slave card atm due to needing extra outputs (I have 6 monitors) Does anyone think an 850 w psu can handle an rtx 3080 along with one of those 2 cards or do I need a new psu? Full build: Intel i7-7700k Asus maximus ix code Evga gtx 1080 ftw Evga gtx 980 sc Evga 850 w 80+ gold

Hi, I flight sim a lot, and use X-Plane. The new beta 11.5 is out that supports Vulkan, but I can't get it to work. I posted in the x-plane forum, but it's not exactly the most pro-active, snappy forum to get answers from, so I thought I'd see if anyone here can shed some light. Basically , it ain't working and I just want to confirm that A) Maxwell2 is OK with Vulkan 1.1, and B) Whether I need special drivers. Currently I'm using 445.75 (non DCH). Any wisdom appreciated. Ta, David

Yo everybody. I built my pc in 2015 and the setup is the following: CPU: i5 4690k w/ CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO MB: Asus Sabertooth z97 mk2 RAM: 2x 8gb 1600mhz DDR3 GPU: Asus Strix GTX980 4GB DDR5 I think this is the most important, my MB / RAM (ddr3) is outdated i guess. I pretty much only use PC for gaming, the game is play the most is CS:GO/ GTA V ,although i stopped playing new games because i fear the pc is not going to run smooth. So, can you guys advice me in which hardware I should switch? If so which models you recommend. Thank you for your time , Thanks in advance. Wilson.

With the release of the the latest generation of Nvidia cards, has the GTX900 series been outmoded? If I was interested in overclocking and benchmarking would I be a fool to buy two GTX980 Poseidon cards from asus instead of a GTX1070, 1080, or the up-and-coming 1080ti?

Last May, I got a GTX 980. It was a huge step up from my previous card, a 950, however, I decided to run benchmarks, and things changed. http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/2576552 (Note: The RAM is performing below standard. This is because my MoBo is bottlenecking it. I do not need help with that) So I tried overclocking it. Time and time again, it would start to improve performance, and then the clock would plummet to worse than stock. http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/3013980 This clock of 539mhz stays until I restart my system. I have no idea what's going on. I have tried using both MSI afterburner, and EVGA Precision X with equal results.

I am thinking about running two GTX 980 Poseidon graphics cards with an AMD Ryzen processor in my next build and wondering if the combo of Nvidia graphics with an AMD processor might pose any issues.

TL;DR; Converting PC to Hackintosh (Specs below), is the RX 480 well supported enough to make it a good cheaper alternative to the GTX 980? So my PC currently runs a nearly 18 month old system containing an R9 390X GPU. However, I am looking to convert my PC from a primarily windows machine to a hackintosh (which will also run linux, and maybe windows, for what little gaming I still do). All parts currently installed in my PC are compatible with macOS with the exception of my GPU, which I am now looking to swap out/ upgrade. Now as best as I can tell, Nvidia's pascal line up still does not support macOS and isn't looking likely to support it any time in the near future. Which leaves the previous, well supported GTX 980 (980ti and Titan X are out of my budget) as my next best option. However, the GTX 980's price hasn't dropped as much as I would've liked and I noticed rumors of support for AMD's RX series cards which massively low ball the price of any competing Nvidia GPU. So my question is, how well supported is the RX 480? Is it going to run with macOS as easily or nearly as easily as a GTX 980 would? Or is it going to cause me enough grief to make it worth while spending nearly double the money to buy the GTX 980? Also, just out of curiosity, how does the RX 480 fair against the GTX 980 performance wise? Just in case there's any compatibility issues, I'm also listing the rest of my build here: Intel i7 4790K Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler AMD R9 390X (To be swapped out) MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard Kingston Hyper X Fury DDR3 1866MHz (2 x 8GB) Kingston 240 GB SSD Western Digital 1TB Blue HDD ANTEC 520W PSU PLEASE NOTE: I'm from Australia, so keep that in mind when listing PC parts to buy.

Hi! I've been looking online for sometime now, and I still can't find an answer. When I'm playing games like Killing Floor 2 (I'm assuming it's GPU intensive) because I get a perfect 60FPS at Ultra details. However, when I look in the task manager, my CPU is hovering around 5-10%, and is displaying as being clocked at 0.77GHz? (See image attached!) I've come to the conclusion that my CPU is just faulty, but please someone confirm this! Thank you! My specifications: i5 4690k stock MSI GTX980 4GB MSI Z97 MPower motherboard Corsair DDR3 1866MHz ThermalTake SmartM 850w 80+ Bronze All my games are loaded on a Samsung 840 Evo SSD.

Hey guys, today I finished my first custom loop inside my "Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX" case. It has been quite challenging for me, especially the reservoir placement and the tubing runs (I had to do the whole loop twice because two tubes kinked after I had filled the loop), but I think it was worth it. The specs of the system are the following: processor: i5 6600k mainboard: AsRock Z270 ITX/ac Ram: 8GB GSkill Ripjaws PSU: Corsair CX600M GPU: GTX 980 Superclocked from EVGA SSD: Samsung 850 pro (256GB) I used two 240mm Radiators, and with prime95 running (Small FTTs) the temperatur does not go above 62 degrees C (At the Stock clock but im going to overclock the CPU in the next few days). At last here are some pictures (comments and advice/feedback are appreciated):

I get around 90-220 fps on csgo, avg 170 Video settings : http://imgur.com/a/4P3P8 Nvidia inspector : http://imgur.com/a/1NXaX In game FPS : http://imgur.com/a/nK4Cw RIG : core i5 4590, gtx 980. I know its a cpu intensive game but I have friends who get better fps on a lower tier gpu and cpu I have updated the drivers, set power management to maximum performance.

So, what should I get? A used 250 dollar GTX 980, or a 360 dollar new GTX 1060 6GB? Does the extra 2 GB of VRAM or newer architecture even matter? This is all in canadian money.

The GPU I currently have is this one right here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TS455CW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (GTX 980 4GB FTW GAMING ACX 2.0) I have an acquaintance willing to buy my used GPU for $250 USD, is that a good price to sell my used GTX 980 or should I try find something elsewhere?

So I dun goofed today. I run an ITX build in a Thermaltake Core V1. I sold my Zotac GTX 970 and then hastily bought a Palit GTX 980 Jetstream. This upgrade cost me no money, fyi. I sold my 970 for the price of the 980. It was a lucky coincidence. OBVIOUSLY this GPU doesn't fit my case and I'm an idiot (inb4 you're an idiot, check the clearance first). So my ghetto solution is to use a riser and have the card sit fans-down outside of the case. I did a brief search and it seems as long as the fans of the GPU have air, it shouldn't impact performance, so i will have the card raised from the table my PC sits on without obstructing the fans. This is a temporary measure. As stupid as this sounds, does it sound do-able / realistic for now?
-
So, i can run my gpu at +150v core and +25ml volt. But i can also run it at +180 with +37 vcore. Is it safe to run at max voltage? I mean my tempratures didnt change, when i play pubg my max temp is 66C, and in other games like overwatch its around 60C.

Hey guys looking to spend about a thousand dollars on a laptop after poking around the internet. I'm curious about this computer, https://m.newegg.com/products/9SIA8S15K14291 Eluktronics W650KK1 Gaming Laptop - Intel Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual Core Desktop CPU Windows 10 Home 4GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 15.6” Full HD IPS Display 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive 8GB DDR4 RAm. For a gaming laptop is it better to skip the i7 with shower speed in favor of a fast Pentium... Also from what I can tell the1050 ti and the 980m are about the same speed... This is the list of competitive laptops https://m.newegg.com/ProductList?canPowerSearch=True&powerSearchParams={"CategoryId"%3A0%2C"StoreId"%3A0%2C"SubcategoryId"%3A3365}&%3FsubcategoryId=3365&nodeId=167732&storeType=2&NValue=100167732&GPU%2FVPU||NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti=||601285496||Power&GPU%2FVPU||NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M=||600536648||Power&sortField=PRICE My instinct is for more cores but nothing really takes advantage of extra cores in my workload.. Guys my thousand dollar investment is in your hands
