gtx1660 My GTX1660Ti Laptop Keeps Crashing and Restarting
joelarthur posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Hello, I may be one of the few people with gaming laptops seeking help here.. My GTX166Ti Keeps crashing when I play heavier games such as Warzone or the Spiderman Remastered (Spiderman Miles Morales works somehow), but is totally fine when I play less intensive games such as CS2 or Valorant. I recently wanted to try out Battlefield 1 since it was on sale a few days ago and I keep crashing with the error code attached below. The first few times when I first had the laptop, it wasnt so bad, but now I guess it has gotten worse over the days and I have troubles with the Graphic card ALSO restarting itself a few times where it would turn black for a few seconds then turn back on... On the other hand I have my drivers regularly updated, I have updated my BIOS to the latest version. Please Help... I have tried under clocking where it helps but during heavier parts of the game it would still crash... I have also attached my dxdiag files down below.. * Edit I am currently using a double monitor setup that if I look into it is connected both to my GTX1660 if that Information helps in any way? Hi! I have owned a gaming rig for about 2 years (yet I still consider myself new to the industry). With regards to setting it up, I asked my friend for advice and ended up with what he considered 'medium-end' PC due to both my budget, and needs. Just a few notes: - the SilverStone 650 power supply became out of stock, so I went with the 750W Bronze Fully Modular. - It was assembled by the store (because I had no clue how to, but in time, I should be able to give it a shot on upgrading it on my own) - My budget at that time was only about $2000+ I've been thinking of making an upgrade. I am hoping to stick in with the budget, but am able to adjust if necessary to accommodate the programs/games I would like to run. Again, I know only so much, so if I am overestimating/underestimating my budget somewhere, please let me know. Budget (including currency): $AUD 5,000-7,000 Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly single player games that could be graphics intensive (Cyberpunk, Horizon Forbidden West, Destiny 2, Star Wars: Fallen Order). Other games are, Cities: Skylines (I've been told that this is more hungry for CPU power than GPU power, so wish to consider something that will make the game run smoothly if I ever build an extremely large city), SWAT 4, GTA Series. I may even touch COD here and there, but honestly, I could just play them on the Playstation. I also stream every now and then, incl. doing some light video editing at 1080p. Programs provided by my work to work from home, but I believe they won't do jack to the current build and is enough. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I bought my stuff from our computer retail here in Sydney called mWave https://www.mwave.com.au/. I see a sale of an RTX 3060, 3070 and 3080 every now and then, but my friend believes I do not need such insanely high powered GPUs for my need, but it would be smart to have that, just to keep up with the market for any future games. He said the time will come where the GTX 1660 will just run the new game of 2025 like s***, while if you have a higher GPU from the get go, it should still fight. Honestly, I have seen some of my games struggling (Cyberpunk is definitely a culprit), and CPU-hungry games like Cities Skylines - I haven't even come close to building a large city and the frames drop substantially. Please let me know if any other additional details are required. If I do remember something, I may just add extra info as a reply or at the bottom of my post. Thanks in advance!

My 3600 CPU seems to be much worse than My friends i7 7700k in cold war. That is My main issue, we noth have ddr4 16gb 3200mhz ram. So just about everything is the same inside of the pc, besides the CPU, and motherboard of course. The Gpu is gtx 1660. My 3600 is at 50% usage and Gpu on 30%. Running at max 60 fps, and when playing with i7 7700k, it runs at 90 fps. (havent checked %)

Welcome all. I have question (obviously). So, I want to build a new PC and for my GPU I choose GTX 1660 OC 6gb. And this is where the problem's begin. I have 2 options, picked by GPU's Memory Clock. One: 14000Mhz with GDDR6, plus 1815Mhz Clock. And two: 8000Mhz with GDDR5, plus 1830Mhz GPU Clock. The second one(I believed the word is latter) is cheaper by ~15 Dollars(Plus or minus currency change). So, what should I choose? Or should I ignore them and picked the one with higher GPU Clock? (Ignore the grammar, btw)

So, I have the GTX 1660 Ventus oc model by msi and i have about 60 fps on the low settings in warzone, even though i should be getting a hundred, my cpu is a Ryzen 5 2600 paired with 16GB of HyperX Fury 3200mhz dual channel kit. My drivers are up to date, my temperatures are not exceeding 65C on both CPU and GPU, both CPU and GPU clocks are running on their max. I just dont get it, i also have bad fps in msfs 2020 i have around 40FPS on the lowest settings when in New York....... I FEEL LIKE IM PLAYING WITH A GTX 1050 Ti! or a 1050 !! Heres some benchmark videos with this setup from my channel: COD Warzone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htL-ghc2wN0 MSFS 2020 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4DfDbYSIos

Hello there. Long time reader, first time poster, so first of all, let me thank y'all for being here and being awesome. Now, to my issue. A couple of days ago I assembled a new PC for my husband: AMD Ryzen R5 3600 Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR4 2400MHz 32Gb Thermaltake ToughPower Grand 850W Please don't tell me that I messed up with a GPU for this system, I know that. But it was one of the very few options available at the moment. And it seems to be cursed. So, here's the issue. The first boot went well, I ran a live iso of Linux Mint from the portable drive to see if everything was ok, then I left the machine running for a few hours. When I got back to it, the screen was black, as if the monitor fell asleep, I tried to wake it, but it didn't happen. So, I thought that it was nothing but the glitch, and rebooted the machine. Linux Mint installation process went great, we celebrated having a new electronic pet and went to bed, leaving the machine on. By the next morning the screen turned black and couldn't wake up. All the lights were fine, all the fans were spinning, I was even able to connect to the machine by ssh and run some stuff, but the screen did not turn on. So I rebooted the machine again and started digging the logs. The first thing that caught my attention was that Linux Mint Driver Manager did not detect the GPU model. After messing with drivers, it finally realized what the model was, updated the driver for the latest version, and I was hoping that the issue was resolved, so I ran a Phoronix benchmark (Unigine Heaven) to see if everything was ok. It started nicely with 150FPS, but in a few minutes I got 10FPS, then 2, and the monitor turned off again. The temperature was fine (around 70C), so I went for the logs to see if the system was able to catch any issues. Here's what I found: After several hours of googling, I found a thread from the developer's mailing list with a very similar error and no solution. There was something about the Linux kernel having issues with power management on NVidia drivers, which they all know of, but haven't fixed yet. The thing is, I was not able to find the list of GPUs affected by the bug, or any recent posts by people with the same issue. What bugs me, is that after the GPU falls off the bus, the reboot may help or may not help, sometimes the system fires up, but the screen stays off, then I have to shut the system down completely and start it with the button. It doesn't feel like a Linux driver issue. And this "glitch" when the system was running from the live iso, it was the same thing, but live iso doesn't use NVidia drivers, it uses nouveau, so, again, I believe it's a hardware problem. The main problem is, I can't figure out how to check if the GPU is faulty, or it's the mobo. I tried to plug the GPU to the second slot, the issue stays the same, and my husband gets grumpier with every reboot. Due to the pandemic situation, I have absolutely no way to ask someone for a mobo and gpu to test everything, and the return policies do not work now, so I can't send the GPU and/or mobo back, I can only order a new one, but I don't want to buy GPU AND mobo, it's going to be too tough for my budget. So any help is appreciated. How can I figure out which one is faulty? What tests can I perform? Please, help! UPDATE: It was a faulty GPU. Installed new AMD GPU, the problem is gone.

Hello guys it's my first time here ?. Hope everyone is doing okay. So I'll begin ?. My desire it to able to play in 1080p with the highest FPS possible games like the lastest volumes of The Witcher and Tomb Raider series. I don't have a monitor yet, but I have a Sony Bravia 1080p 40inch TV (planning to get a 2k monitor next year) and a Laptop Lenovo Ideapad 310 (i5-6200u, SSD Samsung Evo 860, 8gb ddr4 2133) I'm on a very tight budget this year for building a new pc for gaming, but in 2020 I could be able to do that with new pc parts and the right office table. I neither wanna buy an old pc with a LGA1150 or LGA1155 motherboard, because I can get at most 3 months of warranty for refurbished pcs. My idea here is to combine a GTX 1660 with my actual Laptop for the moment. This CPU "very low consumption" seems to be an equal to the i3-2120 in terms of performance over the multiple sites I checked over. Is the GTX 1660 (new for 230$) a good choice, or should I stick with a used RX 480 (used for 120$) or RX 580 (used for 145$) in order to save money. I made a snapshot on a comparison at gpucheck.com. The GTX 1660 on average seems to reach 81 FPS in High Settings, but just 2 FPS lower with the RX 580 and 5 FPS lower with the cheap RX 480. I'm not sure whether I get the GTX 1660 for now and for the future upgrade, or If that too much a bootleneck for this CPU should I stick with one of those used RX X80s (cheapest bang for the buck in my country). Thank you in advance for your advices ?

I recently purchased some parts for my ryzen5 build, and right after buying said parts I realized something frightening.... The motherboard's M.2 slot sits right below the PCIe Slot. The motherboard is an MSI B450m Pro VDH Plus and I bought the beefy 3 slot Gtx 1660 XC from EVGA. My concern is: Will the ssd be affected by the heat from the GPU? What do you guys recommend? Should I not use an M.2 SSD? I'm I overthinking this? Please HELP! :c

Hi all I'm new to PC Building and planning to build my first PC soon . Will pairing the new GTX 1660 bottleneck the Ryzen 2200g? as I'm planning to buy the 2200g first before the graphics card and game on it while saving up and eventually buying the GTX 1660. I will only game on this computer and don't care about video editing or streaming. How would it affect the performance of the graphics card? How much more of a performance (fps) gain will I receive if I held back and saved up for a Ryzen 2600 instead of the 2200G? Will it even be that big of a difference? I aim to play games at 1440p at 50-60 fps and 4k at 30 fps. Honest answers please

Hi! Pardon my introduction, please scroll to see the biuld I'm going for. I'm (Totaly) kinda a wannabe youtuber, or at least using that platform, and my instagram. I have recently wanted to creat for myself the perfect content creating workstation, for music, video, photo, editing, I'm an enthusiast photographer and will be expanding my tools in that field as Well. In the meantime for my computer ive decided to put together myself. It would be easier to just copy a unique biuld but that would take the fun out of learning about the minor details, for example, same chipset but different manufacturers. And I still dont know anything even after learning alot, which sounds like stupidity but I meant, now I have to clarify what my brain is processing and what worth remembering. Here are My facts: Limited experience biuld Gaming and workstation Price range $700-900 (desktop) Time, I can wait for sales. Now I have a reason for every single part/model listed, from the little i knew and the multitude of hours ive spent in "info gathering and comparing" I pitted: Power, Performance, price for value/Performance, reliability/life, user experience, user/official reviews, everything videos, market value/price fluctuations, benchmarks, brand history and research. Future development........etc....lol All I'm missing is my own personal experience which could give me a home base in preference and opinion. These prices fluctuate alot so thats not really my focus. Is this a decent biuld? Can I get better performance with a different biuld around this price? Does the price at the time of writing equal in value? If I was your best friend...(anythings possible :) and you saw this biuld what would you say about it? Please and thank you. Hello, dear forum! First time here, as i were looking to build for my college pc, working on various software (3DSMAX , solidworks, CATIA, Keyshot, sketchup, adobe suite, microsoft virtual studio). Im also doing side job taking on photo and video editing (lightroom, ps, ai, vegas, premiere) Thus i'm just here all out asking various community about whether my build is enough for me. bear in mind that i've got budget constrain (598dollar usd to be precise) so far, my nost valued (and on budget ) spec was : ryzen 5 2600 ASROCK B450m pro 16GB DDR4 3000MHZ gtx 1060 6gb PNY SSD 240GB ssd Aigo PSU 550W 80+ Bronze Aigo Black tech mini/Segotep Prime M my question is: 1. will it be sufficient for handle all the software? 2. will stock wraith amd cooler come in bundle with the cpu will be enough to handle the 'heat'? 3. does gtx1060 can be rendered well on 3dsmax? i really wanted the rx580 but i researched that 3dsmax did not play well on radeon gpu. thank you in advance for those who replying to this!
