Looking for potentially very technical troubleshooting assistance. I have an ASUS GTX 1060 6GB graphics card, a Gigabyte x470 Aorus Gaming 7 WiFi motherboard, and an EVGA Supernova 750 G3 power supply. This is a three-year-old custom-built system that has had no issues before. No parts have been replaced. Only additional RAM has been installed (four months ago, no issues). The other PCIe slots are not populated with any adapters or the such. Nothing has been tuned or purposely overclocked. I am having PCIe power issues with this card. It has two LEDs near the 6-pin connector that normally lights up the solid red LED when it is not powered (but the PSU is plugged into the wall and switched on) and lights up the solid white LED when powered. TL;DR: I had to take out my graphics card and put it back in order to work on other areas of the board. As I finished, I plugged in the PCIe power to my graphics card (proper side of cable), with the system turned off but the PSU accidentally switched on. I heard a click (fairly certain it was not a sparking sound) but the LED turned red and stayed red. No flashes. Did I possibly short my graphics card or PSU? How likely is it to damage either components when plugging in PCIe power while the system is off but PSU is switched on? Can the card be dead and still shine a red LED? Photos of the card and connections are attached at the end of the post. As I am in a time crunch, I cannot perform very intensive troubleshooting at the moment such as ordering in new parts. It powers on and goes straight from a black screen to the "Please power down and connect the PCIe Power Cable(s) for this graphics card" error message without showing the AORUS boot screen.

Can anyone help me locate the BIOS chip on this card? I want to try flashing it with a CH341A Programmer since flashing from NVflash always result in "No supported EEPROM found", and the chip can't be read either through GPUZ or NVflash. GPUZ pic and NVflash error in attachment. Thanks

(So, hdwyd, fellas) My friend build this rig 10 years ago with upgradability in mind, but only managed to upgrade the PSU (from corsair vs550 to cx7 750), GPU (from 550 to 1060 6gb) also HDD (sata 1 tb to 2 tb -because i broke the connector ) Now i kinda want to upgrade something from it and i definitely want to keep my 1060, SATA and psu. So i want to know what my options regarding my motherboard and cpu, what choice do i have that still compatible with my gpu and RAM? I know they're old, DDR 3, but still kinda want to keep them....but if not, it's fine too, I'll try to upgrade them later on. And i kinda want to keep the CPU too because i think it still work pretty well, but i still want to know my options Another reason for changing my Motherboard is because my house got strike by lightning a few years ago (and my house actually have that lightning-trap-thing to redirect a lightning strike to ground which suddenly didn't work), and it kinda broke my motherboard (the ethernet-port part). But it fixed now (sometimes not.... sometimes it loose connection-the yellow-green light turn off, then turn on again), just that, i think there's another part of the motherboard that broke too (not sure what) In conclusion, need recommendations for the motherboard and CPU (maybe also RAM) that still able to work with my 1060 and ddr3 (my personal upgrade priority are 1.motherboard 2.CPU 3.Ram If i can upgrade all of them, great, if not, I'm good with upgrading my motherboard first). I'm not a power user, my current main-video game is dota 2, also I'm interested in playing older video games (campaign mode, like crysis, modern warfare, assassin's creed black flag...etc, things like that) I'm kinda not interested playing the battle royal genre. Also, i crypto mining too, i just leave my rig when I'm not playing games or watching movies. Really appreciate to whomever reading this and putting a suggestion/suggestions for my rig upgrade...also, i got electrical black-out a couple days ago, so now my rig kinda broke (still troubleshooting it, still can't find where's the trouble), so it's probably a good time i upgrade something while finding the current problems. I have HP Omen gaming laptop with i7-6700 HQ, GTX 1060 6GB Max-Q, and 16 GB RAM. I was gaming at over 100 FPS @ 1080p in many games until a week ago, the performance just dropped significantly and I am stuck with 45 FPS at best. I read the forums and searched for possible fixes on the internet and tried a lot of them but nothing seam to work. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers, re-installed Windows, and I even updated the BIOS. Not to mention some other tweaks like registry edits including disabling game DVR. Everything failed. I ran monitoring software (MSI Afterburner) and everything is normal except the FPS and possibly low usage of VRAM (I don't really know for sure). So I thought I ask you for a possible solution or fix. I am gaming on a laptop (Using High performance power plan + sat Nvidia control panel to prefer best performance) so upgrading is not an option for me and I know that my GPU was working properly until few days ago. I noticed a couple of strange occurrences that may help you help me 1- While using the Ugiene Heaven Benchmark tool, I kept it benchmarking and raised everything to high with 1080p resolution, after maybe 5 mins I noticed that FPS got a sudden boost and it worked properly again, so I immediately stopped the benchmark ran a game and I got 123 FPS (which is what I used to get before). However, after restarting the computer it went back to getting around 45 FPS. Strange !! When working properly (123 FPS) GPU Temp. 80 GPU usage: 100% GPU Clock: 1354 MHz VRAM Used: 2331 MB CPU Temp: 88 CPU Usage: 83% CPU Clock: 3410 MHz When not working properly (45 FPS) GPU Temp. 53 GPU usage: 100% GPU Clock: 1034 MHz VRAM Used: 984 MB CPU Temp: 62 CPU Usage: 67% CPU Clock: 3410 MHz As you can see there is no Bottleneck, and it was performing smoothly just a week ago ! 2- When I was searching for the driver version to write this, I opened device manger and found it to be 27.21.14.5730 which I know is incorrect. However MSI Afterburner was able to show me the right one which is 457.30 which is the latest one for my computer. I recently built my first rig, and I was disappointed by the lack of fluidity in gameplay, for example, Minecraft runs average 150fps, and often dips to 50fps

The RX580 and the GTX 1060 uses GDDR5 but in MSI Afterburner it says the GTX 1060 as 8000MHz and the RX580 as 2000MHz does this mean the GTX 1060 has a 4X faster VRAM?

I'm putting together parts for a new PC: i75820k + msi X99A gaming 7 mother board + gtx1060-6gb, and I already have a 480w power supply. Do you think 480W is enough? or enough for an extra 1060 if I decide to do SLI later on down the road?

So i'm thinking of overclocking my GPU. Reason beeing i recently started playing CoD MW (the new one) and im struggeling to get 144+ fps on low/med settings. I have a GTX 1060 6GB that I bought new on Amazon two years ago and today I ran the userbenchmark and it placed in the top 100% of 1060 6gb cards. I'm trying to upgrade and I don't want this card to go to waste if there is anyone that likes to have the crazy rare cards or anyone who is trying to build a crazy system on a budget, I posted it on eBay with pictures and more information as well as links. <Link Removed> Also let me know what you think. Hey guys! So, my current PC that I put together about 2 years ago is still running fine for me in most cases (mostly just play WoW lmao) but im starting to branch out into some more demanding titles while at the same time looking at setting up for game streaming on Twitch. Seeing as how my PC use is shifting into a more demanding category I thought id start trying to optimize my hardware and software. Started off with grabbing razer cortex for a fast and easy clean and then i went and downloaded MSI Afterburner and Kombustor. TLDR is my Kombustor benchmark reports 27fps and 3Dmark reports 28fps, both having drops below 18fps while running. Worried that i might be doing something wrong somewhere. Heres a quick list of my hardware Ryzen 5 1600X Asus X470-I Asus Ryujin 240 MSI GTX 1060 6GB X 2x 8GB Corsair DDR4-3000Mhz EVGA 750w PSU 250GB Samsung 850evo SSD Ive done a couple tweaks to my system since running the benchmarks. Changed DRAM frequency from 2133mhz to 3000mhz, Applied an overclock profile to my CPU via Asus BIOS giving me a stable 4.0GHz (i think), Overclocked my GPU by 150mhz core clock and 250mhz memory clock, and ive messed around in the Nvidia control panel (followed a youtube guide?). Besides a slight increase in benchmark score, im not seeing much improvement in FPS. Im thinking maybe 30fps is just the limit for an old 1060 running these benchmarks that have been updated past the specs of its time but i thought it wouldve been capable of at least hitting around the 60fps mark, idk. In any case, im sure someone might have some helpful overclocking tips or just any tips in general to help me squeeze some more performance out of this rig. After many days spent researching and troubleshooting, id be extremely grateful for any help!

Hi guys I'm looking for some advice and experience on buying my first gaming monitor. 24" screen 144hz ips panel preferably. I have an Asus Strix GTX 1060 6GB OC Graphics card, I know G Sync is the best option but I cant find any affordable ones here in the UK for under £300 which I find ridiculous for just having G sync. So I guess my questions really are, is £300 the cheapest I can think of finding a g sync monitor 24" and If I get a cheaper non G sync monitor do I run the risk of screen tearing and bad screen function during game? Can my card run games on a free sync monitor? I was looking to spend up to £200. Orion
