I've got an old MSI GTX 960 oc and it makes some very strange noises. While Ryzen Master is open, it clicks every second, just the moment RM refreshes its values. When resizing some windows (Firefox, Excel, not Win. Explorer, not Lightroom C.) it's making some kind of scratch sound Fenster-Ziehen.m4a It's not a problem, I just couldn't find anything about this behavior, does anybody have an idea? Thanks in advance

Hello, my friend asked me if I could upgrade his pc for him, here's the specs of his computers: CPU: Intel I5 6600K RAM: 16GB @ 1600Mhz MB: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming GPU: MSI GTX 960 4GB Storage: 250 gig samsung 850 evo ssd and a 2TB samsung harddrive He told me that he definitely wants a new gpu and I think he should probably get some faster ram but idk about how well the 6600k handles games these days. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hello there. Well I have bumped into a problem and wanted to ask here if anyone knows anything. I have a Asus Turbo GTX 960 4GB OC GDDR5 and yeah I know it's a little bit old considering we are in 2020. So I decided to overclock it to get the maximum performance of it or so, and I clocked GPU Clock (Core Clock) +125 MHz and Memory Clock +500 MHz there was not significant boost in performance, actually I can say there was not any boost at all I guess. Well I used Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 and Asus GPU Tweak II and I just found out that the overclock just helped around 85 freaking points not more. So then I decided some gaming benchmark and there was no boost at all. I tried on Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Ultra Spec and 1600*900 Resolution and got 27 fps. I tried it Non-OC and OCed but nothing. I always get 27fps. Actually one time it was 30. So am I doing something wrong or the clocks are nothing significant for boost? Oh by the way, I tried MSI Afterburner with MSI Kombustor and they felt like they weren't compatible with my card. And this is my full spec in any case you need it: Motherboard: ASUS Pro Gaming H170 (latest bios) CPU: Intel Core I5-6600K GPU: ASUS Turbo GTX 960 4GB GDDR5 OC RAM: 8GB 2400Mhz CL15 DDR4 GSkill Aegis PSU: 650W GREEN 80 Plus Gold Monitor: 1600*900 60Hz (yeah old school!)

I overclocked my gigabyte gtx960 itx why stress testing it. After around 15 mins it blue screened and when i rebooted, it didnt display. I have deleted Msi afterburner using intergrated grapphics and it still didnt show up with a display. I have tried using different display ports and different monitors still to no avail. I cleared my cmos battery and still didnt get a screen. I know that windows is booting as my speaker are making the beep when it boots and my headphones play the intel bios song. Should I delete my drivers ? Did I fry something? I have a suspition that my psu either broke the 6 pin of my gpu or the six pin on the psu is broken. My specs are: gigabyte gtx 960 itx i5 4430 16gb ram intel dq87 mobo coolermaster cylon 600w (yes ik that this is a very skethy piece of crap) If anyone as found a solution to this problem I would apprieciate some help. Thanks!

So, when I'm playing CS GO on my rig that I just built I notice my GPU's fans aren't even on. I'm at 20 fps and meanwhile the GPU is only at a 160 baseclock. Is there a way to force my GPU (Asus Strix GTX 960) to run at a higher rate?
-
When I start up my PC my ASUS Strix GTX 960 turns on and the fans spin. However, once I log in to the computer the GPU's fans stop spinning. Right now, according to MSI Afterburner the GPU has a baseclock of 135 mhz. How do I fix this, and make the GPU be active?

So im thinking of buying 1060 3GB Version but need some opinion from you guys. I know i can see benchmarks from youtube or comparison from google but i just need to know. What you guys think about how much there will be performance difference if i upgrade it from gtx 960 4gb ver to 1060 3GB ver. ( talking about 1080p Gaming only ). The reason im saying is because i played FOR HONOR few days ago, with maxed out i was getting 40s FPS ( 1080p ), i saw the usage there wasnt any bottleneck but gpu was above 80-90% and CPU was 70-75%sh I feel like 960 isnt powerfull for new titles at 1080p any more. My Specs are: X5460 @4Ghz 8GB RAM GTX 960 4GB Please don't start a war about bottlenecking n stuff. As this xeon can handle 1060 easily in 95% games without any huge bottlenecking. EDIT: Reason im going with 1060 3GB Ver is LOW BUDGET. As i will sell this 960 for $190-$200 USD ( used USD so all can understand ). and New GTX 1060 3GB Costs $280, which is under my budget. Where as 480X cheapest starts from $350.

Hey, Recently i factory reset my computer because i could not get rid of malware that had infected my computer (i also formated all my disks). After the factory reset my GPU (GTX 960 2GB MSI). For example in Rust i get lag spikes every now and then and its not as smooth as it used to be, even on low settings. And on heavier games (heavy for the 960) like Forza Horizon 3 it has problems running it at all and its giving me bluescreens. So what shold i do? SPECS: MSI GeForce GTX 960 2GB Intel Core i5 4690k (not overclocked) 16GB DDR3 RAM Win 10 Home 64-bit

Motherboard Shorting? PCIe slot failing?
GangstaRas posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi, recently my system has been acting a bit strange lately. Every time I start my system it proceeds to POST but then immediately shuts itself off and then tries again and again until it finally POSTs. I found out that it's something related to my GPU. When it happens, I notice that sometimes the motherboard picks up my GPU in the slot and sometimes it doesn't. I don't think the GPU itself is damaged in anyway because when things do boot, everything is stable, stress test in Furmark without issues, no artifacts, no shutdowns, no overheating, nothing. PSU was also ruled out by testing it with a DMM, the voltages are all within spec of 12v, 5v, and 3.3v at idle and under full load, plus it showed no signs of stability issues completely maxing out the system to draw max power from it. What could cause this problem why it immediately shuts down as its starts (starts then in 3 seconds it shuts off itself)? Motherboard shorting causes this? System specs: ASRock B75M-DGS R2.0 Motherboard Intel Core i3 3240 @ stock EVGA GTX 960 2GB SSC @ stock 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM Corsair CX430 PSU -
I have a gtx 960 and i tried turning it on this morning with no luck. It was working perfectly yesterday, but today it doesnt display anything when i connect any of the ports to the monitor. It isnt the psu as the graphics card lights up, its not the monitor or the cables because i have tested them with another device, i also tested my motherboard with vga and that worked perfectly fine. Im suspecting either the 960 isnt working, or its the pci express slot - But how do i find out? Theres only one pci port and i dont have any other computers to test it out. Is this common with the 960? I could get a refund and upgrade to the 1050ti, but id rather find a solution. Update: im not sure if you can see it in the image attached, but theres some sort of sticky-liquid on the card. Could this be the issue?

Greetings. I'm trying to overclock my GTX 960, and was following standard procedure- power limit to full, start raising core and memory clocked. I got to a point where Unigine Heaven crashed, and MSI Afterburner said 'Connection to GPU 1 Lost'. Upon restarting Afterburner, everything was greyed out, my GPU driver version was no longer showing. I rebooted my computer, and it didn't help. The only thing that fixed it was updating my GPU drivers. Now it's happened again, as crashing is an invariable part of overclocking. Do I have to reinstall my drivers every time this happens?! I'd really appreciate any help with this. My system specs are in my signature. Regards, Aereldor.

Hi! So I am looking for a used video card for one of my PC builds and I came across a used GTX 960 on Craigslist for $150. Now I know that currently you can buy a new GTX 1050ti on B&H for $135 so I was wondering how much is the 960 really worth? Because I know that $150 for a used card when you can buy a brand new card for less is a bit nuts. What are your guys inputs? How much would YOU be willing to pay for a used GTX 960 knowing that a GTX 1050ti would perform near identical while being much more energy efficient and costing less. $135 GTX 1050ti https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1292188-REG/evga_04g_p4_6251_kr_geforce_gtx_1050_ti.html

I have a Zotac (no Amp!) GTX 960 4GB GDDR5 running on air. It has 4+2 pin connection (6-pin). It overclocks to 1461MHz core and I kept memory the default. It has an ASIC of 66%. The first file (GM206.rom) is my current bios, which was the default one that came with the GPU. The second file (stats.png) is spec stuff. This was my system during a run of FurMark with extreme burn-in. The last file (gpuz.png) is other important info about the exact GPU. What I am asking for is a custom BIOS for air cooling. I had made my own but the file got corrupted during transfers between work computer > flash drive > work computer again to fix something > flash drive > home computer. GM206.rom

Okay so when playing league on my older gpu i would stay at 200+ fps, that was a gtx 750 ti. Awhile ago i got a gtx 960 evga 4gb and it does not stay over 100 fps in lane phase and drops even below 60 in team fights. My computer specs right now are cpu: FX-6300, gpu: GTX 960 4gb, mobo: MSI 760GM-P34, ram: 16gb gskill ddr3, ssd: 480 adata, hdd; 500gb, psu; 500 watt evga bronze. I know my computer can handle that game at 100 fps consent and i am really looking for help with this. I know it is not my cpu, the temps never reach over 70C and it does not get that high unless its really hot in my house. League is the main game i play but this has affected other games as well like overwacth, and a bunch of other games. In league i know it does not stay at 100% usage when playing( i use evga perversion) and even made a fan profile so when it gets hotter the fans ramp up. If anyone can help me i would be really thankful, I also have no idea if this is the right place to ask this. any feedback is welcome

I have recently built my PC but have found that I am not achieving the frame rates that I would like (High 1080p 60fps). My specs are an FX 4350, Gigabyte Windforce GTX 960 4GB and 8 gigs of ddr3 1600 ram. What should I upgrade first to achieve better frames and what upgrade path should I take?

So these problems began about 2 weeks ago when I updated my GPU driver, bios and chipset driver. I update my GPU all the time but it so happened that I updated it the same day I decided to update drivers from my motherboards website. Anyway what happened was this Original http://imgur.com/APG556I?r As you can see from the original it kinda inverts a lot of the colours to black for some odd reason. This happened with youtube videos as well but seemed to mostly affect the beginning of them or certain parts. Once a gif looped fully in this colour it would come back to normal in the following loops until I cleared cache. The other weird issue that arose was whenever I opened a gif with windows 10 photo viewer it would crash after 1 second and zooming in and out of images twice would also crash it. Though weirdly enough I had no real issues in games like Overwatch/League Of legends. Anyway I decided to rollback the Nvidia driver to the to an older one and that fixed all my problems (or so I thought) *Please note these issue seemed to only affect chrome/windows photos and not firefox/Vivaldi* After rolling back the driver everything was fine for about a day until I got a random black flash and every youtube video in chrome went green. I had to reload each video to play them. So since then I tried updating to a slightly newer Nvidia driver that had just come out and it gave me the first problems all over again. So I've since reverted to an even older driver to see if that would fix either of the problems and I still have the black flash and video crash one. At this point I feel like reinstalling windows but really can't be bothered do that. It could be an issue with the GPU itself or maybe the chipset driver I installed but it's extremely hard for me to tell what the problem is. Anyway thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hi I have a GTX 960 SuperClocked 4GB graphics card. I was running some benchmarks when I noticed that the temp didn't go over 80ºC. In MSI Afterburner I found a temp limit slider, and It wss put to 80. If I put it up to 90 I should get better performance, right? If the temps are locked then the GPU will not be able to run as good as it should because the temps are locked, and the GPU will be stuck there... right? I'm not sure, so I wanted to ask. I also noticed that the power limit went up when I tried to change the temp, but I was able to change it so that the temp limit wouldn't affect the power limit, but I changed the settings back to normal because I didn't wanna break anything. What should I do? Thanks for reading
