  1. SECOND AND FINAL UPDATE: After thorough testing I've confirmed that this is a software issue with Nvidia which is unfortunately beyond our control. I've found only one workaround and that is to turn off "Extend these displays" and use "Show only on X" (X being whatever your G-Sync monitor's number is) while you play games with G-Sync enabled. I've confirmed that this has completely resolved all issues and crashes for me. I know this isn't the solution you were expecting, especially if you use your second monitor to do other things (e.g. read chat messages) while gaming on your primary, but it's better than nothing as at least you don't have to completely unplug your secondary monitor(s) and can continue to use it as long as you don't run games. Multi-monitor G-Sync will only crash with games running, so you don't need to constantly turn G-Sync off and on while you're doing anything else (e.g. browsing or working). You'll only need to disable display extension while gaming. This solution is mostly aimed at people who use their G-Sync display as their main monitor and primarily for gaming, and only use their secondary monitor(s) for work (for example: if you are an artist and have a pen display connected). Of course, you can always just disable G-Sync altogether and use all your screens as you like without issues, and if you play competitive games (e.g. Valorant), it's recommended that you do turn it off to reduce latency. I hope this thread has helped some of you. Merry Christmas to all and a happy new year. UPDATE FOR ALL G-SYNC MONITOR OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE (READ THE DETAILED LETTER BELOW THE UPDATE): I've made a discovery after many tests. For currently unknown reasons, it was having G-Sync enabled with a second non-G-Sync monitor plugged in at the same time that caused the random Windows 10 crashes/freezes. I am still running further tests to figure out why G-Sync was exclusively causing this with a second monitor plugged in, but if you are having the same issue make sure you have ONLY the G-Sync display plugged in and no other monitor. This should solve any crashing/freezing issues (no guarantees of course, issues vary). It seems this is not a new issue with Nvidia, as I found similar threads for other monitors and PC specs from a few years ago, but they were using G-Sync compatible monitors. Well, seems this issue can apparently appear in native G-Sync as well. I will update this thread again when/if I have further news and/or a solution (so other monitors can be plugged in at the same time too). ----------- Hello, I recently purchased a new monitor, the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM. It's running at 1440p 240Hz and has a native Nvidia G-Sync module. My GPU is ASUS' GTX 1080 Ti Strix OC. Nothing is overclocked. When G-Sync is on, the PC will randomly freeze forever during games until I hard-restart it via the reset button on the case. Here is how the crash proceeds: Game image will freeze entirely and permanently. Keyboard and mouse will lose signal and no longer function at all (keyboard caps lock etc. will not register either, so no LEDs). These two will maintain their electricity but if the keyboard is unplugged and replugged during the freeze, it will not get its power back. The mouse will. Though still nothing functions. Sound will keep playing in the background for about one minute but will gradually lose volume until it finally gets distorted and also gets cut off completely. At this point everything is nonoperational. Important notes: The PC does not, ever, restart on its own, regardless of how long I wait. If I don't use the reset button to restart the system, it will stay frozen like that forever. In this frozen state, the PC's hardware continues to work normally. There is no throttling or fans stopping or speeding up, everything carries on as usual. Since this is not registered as a crash/bluescreen by Windows, but just an unexpected manual restart, there is zero info on what failed prior to the freeze. If during the freeze the PG279QM is turned off and back on, it will turn on with extremely low brightness and no image (the previous game image that froze will be gone). I will still be able to open the OSD but see it just barely due to the low brightness. However, it will retain all of its settings, as the OSD will still show 1440p 240Hz and G-Sync (the LED on the monitor will also remain red indicating G-Sync is on). Note that the settings include the brightness. The monitor does not drop its setting to low brightness, it becomes dark with the normal brightness setting still there. However, if the PG279QM is unplugged from the GPU and then replugged, just like the keyboard, it will no longer receive signal at all, stating that no input was detected, at which point the brightness of the monitor returns to normal. So whatever causes the darkening specifically at least must come from a massive GPU driver crash. I also have a second monitor connected which is a 1440p 60Hz non-G-Sync one. Unlike the PG279QM, during the freeze, this monitor will retain its brightness even if it's turned off/on and/or replugged, as well as whatever image it was displaying before the freeze. This monitor will not lose signal no matter what. Nevertheless, it also stays frozen. I've used various Nvidia drivers, currently using the latest ones along with Windows 10 64-bit fully updated. If this is somehow a driver issue, it has not been looked into by Nvidia in the past 5 GPU drivers now. This bizarre freeze happens exclusively with G-Sync on and always with a game running. Especially if the game dips to 30 FPS (e.g. cutscenes, pause menus capped by the developers etc.). There has never been a crash with G-Sync off. The G-Sync freeze has almost always happened when a game was either paused or going through a loading screen at a capped 30 FPS. I've run many troubleshooting tests. The PC always runs cool even under 100% load for extended periods of time and passes all tests without errors. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is completely random and therefore impossible to recreate and troubleshoot. It could crash within an hour or go without a crash for days. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening? The monitor is brand new and appears to be working flawlessly. I also ran extensive stress tests on my PC to ensure the GPU isn't failing and got no issues. Is this perhaps a problem with Windows 10? I have not tried Windows 11 with G-Sync in games yet. After looking around online I also found the possibility that perhaps my PSU is failing. I had a 1080p 60Hz monitor before the PG279QM so it's possible that my PSU can't keep up with the massive specs upgrade. Any insight is welcome. Thank you for your time.
  2. Hello everyone new to tv modding i understand pc building very well i was wanting to test if my lg c7 55 inch tv mainboard be upgraded to c9 or better something that possibly not required 4@120hz if not at least earc but would be awsome to have the c9 features im willing to replace the hdmi board to 2.1a ports wifi/ir board and mainboard if need psu board i dont know the propper things to look up all i see is b8 to c9 but nothing for mine all i really care is having a fully functional tv after upgraded key features i need for my avr are earc for lossless dolby atmos and shooting for gsync for my pc if anyone could get me a tutorial or a good theory on how this would work and play out would be mutch appreciated
  3. I have 144hz gsync supported asus laptop with rtx4060 but there is no third option in nvcp. What should I do? How others look: How mine looks:
  4. I bought an LG 27GP850 about 2 years back, and it was fine for a while, but it started displaying odd behavior. If i was using the extended freesync mode, and had gsync enabled, every so often, the screen would go black (backlight turned off too) for a second or two, often flashing on for a split second before turning off again. It would do this several times before the image came back. I sent it back to LG to repair it twice, but nothing helped. Ive used multiple different display port cables, different ports on the back of my gpu, i also bought a whole new gpu (not for thos reason, i was upgrading anyway), but nothing has fixed it. I was convinced it was the monitor at fault, not anything else, as the only other suspects i thought about could by gpu, which was brand new, and this was a problem on both the old and new one, or the cable, which as i said, was switched out several times. I bought a new monitor, and its happening on this monitor as well. The LG doesnt have this problem on my brothers computer so im kind stuck at this point. Its a massive problem, as i will be in the middle of a gun fight or something, and every other game, i will just lose the image for a couple seconds. I asked on reddit, and someone said they had a similar problem to me, and theres was caused by an improperly seated graphics card. I checked mine, but its as far in as it will go. This however did get me thinking. I had no problem with the monitor for a long while after i got it, but one thing i did do is buy a new case, the fractal design pop air. Is it possible that the case could be preventing me from fully seating the gpu? I didnt think of this initially, as this problem doesnt occur on my tv, which gsync is also enabled on, and i mostly use my tv anyway, and its never happened once on there.
  5. I enabled G-sync on my PC from within the Nvidia Control Panel... this being my first build I am unsure if doing that overrides automatically the V-sync setting on any given game. Thanks in advance all!
  6. Hello everyone ! here's my issue : My screen is flickering, randomly, without any charge or any type of content to display, even on the windows login screen. It happened a while ago with my "old" 980ti and with this screen. That one time, going back to an older driver resolved the issue but it's back again and with another GPU. This time i've tried everything below and the issue is still here while I write this post. Has anyone seen this weird behavior or even found a solution ? Can't find something that work on YT/reddit too. Trying another GPU (1070ti EVGA [Miss them already]) -> Didn't work Disable OC on GPU -> didn't work Turning G-Sync on/off -> didn't work Trying different refresh rate (120hz/60hz) -> didn't work DDU and fresh install of drivers (from Geforce now and without) -> didn't work Trying different drivers for both GPU and screen -> didn't work I was thinking about buying a new one since this one might be getting old but I would like to keep it as second monitor to use it while streaming. Ladies and gents, you are my last hope ! Have a very nice day and i wish you a long lasting config without any issue. Here's the full config : CPU : Ryzen 7 5800X stock CPU Cooler : Corsair H115i RGB Platinium Mobo : Asus TUF B550M plus Wifi 2 (Bios is up to date) Ram : Corsair Vengeance Pro SL (RGB) DDR4 3200Mhz 4x8Go Cas 16 GPU : Gigabyte RTX 4070 ti Gaming OC (OC + 1500 on memory and +200 on core STABLE) PSU : Be Quiet Straight power 11 1000W 80+ Gold SSD : Crucial P5 PLUS 2To (windows 11 Home 22H2 22621.1555 64bit) Case : Corsair Crystal 280X White Screen : Acer 27" curved 1080p 144Hz 4ms (ED273A)
  7. Hey all . Didn’t have the luxury of this problem before but I got a 3080 some while back, and on some games (like ghost runner I’m playing now) it will go over my monitors max refresh rate in cut scenes and some instances in games causing tearing not to bad but still. I have established a Gsync is running by the indicator, and I’ve tried capping the fps in control panel but neither seem to be working. Was hoping one of you had an explanation. I have a 4K 144hz Gsync compatible monitor and a 144 hz 2k Gsync monitor. Thanks for any help!
  8. First of all I would like to clarify that I have checked other topics about flickering and non were exactly the same as mine and the given solutions either didn't help my case or were obviously not applicable in my situation. With that out of the way back to the issue at hand. My monitor- HP 22x has a weird flickering issue which is present when browsing the internet and sometimes on my desktop itself, but not when playing games (doesn't seem like the game or it's settings matter), or using programs like Blender. The flickering itself is rather odd as its not the entire screen but only a horizontal line near the top that flashes white or black. Sometimes the lines doesn't even go across the entire horizontal axis. Scrolling or staying static on a web page doesn't change or much or how often it flickers. In general it is quite rare, but sometimes it happens multiple times one after another. I have set my monitor at 144Hz (in the settings it says 144,01Hz) and I have it connect to my GPU (GTX 1660 Super) via HDMI cable. The resolution is 1080p if that matters. Freesync is on in the OSD, the monitor has been updated with the latest drivers from the manufacturer, same goes for the GPU. I have tried changing the refresh rate, updating everything and messing around with the OSD settings (in the end had to do a factory reset) and non of this helps! I tried messing around with Chrome settings too- turning on and off both smooth scrolling and hardware acceleration- again neither helped. Also G-Sync option is missing from my control panel but from I have read on this forum I need a display port cable to be using G-Sync with a compatible monitor, which this one claims to be, however I do not want to buy a new game (which is oddly expensive there I live) if that won't help. (Both the computer and monitor are about a week old. All new parts and freshly installed Win10.) Thank you for reading through!
  9. I have been a console player for years due to the fact that I just couldn't afford to get into pc gaming. I got a budget gaming laptop which has been decent and able to play a lot of games at medium 1080p settings. But now with my new pc im ready to upgrade my main display. I have a RTX 3070 and want to move up to 1440p. I currently have a Samsung G5 monitor 1080p 144hz, but now I'm ready for that upgrade. I am looking for gsync compatibility, high refresh rate and of course 1440p. Would love to hear suggestions I have read review but rather hear from actual users that have had them for some time
  10. Is this a known issue, or just specific games and is there a workaround ? So here's what happened: I decided to try playing Monster Hunter World with DSR at 4k, I already knew my pc can handle it, but i didn't know my new monitor might not... it works fine, in theory, but I get a lot of screen tearing, turned on Vsync and that fixed it, just isn't the point of a Gsync monitor to not having to use Vsync? Note, it works fine in native resolution (1440p) Also something weird, yesterday GeForce experience showed me to use dlss/4k/max settings, that's how I even got the idea, but today it shows no dlss/4k/lowest settings... so maybe something in the driver is broken... also weird I'm playing at high settings with DSR / 4k and it's fine , except the screen tearing . I'm just curious if this is a known issue or if I should try reinstalling drivers (which I have a weird feeling won't do anything, but if nothing else I'll have to try obviously)
  11. Hello everyone, first time writing here, nice to meet you. I'm in a bit of a pickle with two main questions and a story. After all those ads, Top X ranking etc. I've decided to finally jump into 4k 144hz and bought LG 27GN950-B about 4 months ago and well... On the first one, DP broke after exactly one month (exactly 1st to 1st of the next month). Monitor was being detected by windows but the display was black, the integrated menu stuck showing 0Hz (HDMI worked fine). Sent it to my local LG and after 1,5 months and some back and forth, got a reply that They don't have highend enough PC to test the monitor, 60hz works and I will get a new one - fine. Got the new one, DP immediately had artifacts, I've updated the firmware just to be sure - no change. Sent to LG again. Half a month - received the same unit with "fixed DP connections". EXACTLY to a second - one month of using after that... The same issue as the first replaced monitor. DP output suddenly died. Windows sees monitor just fine, menu shows 0Hz. Resetting any display settings does not help. I have tried DDU and other things but I am pretty sure that's not my PC's fault (both monitors worked fine for a month. I can post pc specs if that's relevant). TLDR; - Has anyone else had/heard about issues with that monitor? I was looking around a bit and found lack of such issues online. Am I the unluckiest person in my region to have all LG replacements break on me? - What are good 4k 144hz GSync/GSync-compatible alternatives for this monitor around the same price (maybe $100-200 more if necessary)? I can replace it again but to be honest I feel done with LG for the time being. And I hope for a refund. I don't care for HDR. Had some issues with Nvidia Shadowplay and HDR but I am open to revisit the idea of HDR. I am aware of Acer Predator series and some Asus ROG Strix monitors at 4k 144hz but found no comprehensive comparison between all those models and the 27GN950-B. Thank you for your help
  12. Hello I was trying to find a deal this black Friday and cyber Monday but with no good results so now I'm trying to find out the best value for money ultra wide monitor I can find within my budget. Requirements: inches: at least 34" ultrawide aspect ratio: at least 21:9 resolution: at least 3440 x 1440 refresh rate: at least 120Hz. A big plus would be gsync or gsync compatible freesync with at least 100 Hz with it enabled. budget: around 400 euros (+-50) I want to use it for both gaming and productivity like coding/modeling/art. So a high refresh rate, and good colours are what I need. From my search I was looking at the Xiaomi mi Curved 34" (which is about 400 euro here) and the Samsung Odyssey G5 LC34G55T (which is at around 420 euro). Also the Gigabyte G34WQC at around 520 euro. Please let me know which of the two you would recommend and any other recommendations on other monitors in the same price category. Thank you for your time!
  13. I mean Intel specifically chose MSI because of their balanced cooling and high performance... (Yet MSI don't have G-sync even for their top end models; just expect us to plug an external display right?)
  14. I have a benqxl2546k 240 hz monitor and a Alienware 240 hz monitor. The issue is that Advanced Warfare on Steam is capped at 60 hz on my Benq monitor but it wasnt on my Alienware monitor. Could this be a Gsync compatibility thing or maybe my Nvidia settings are wrong. If anyone can help that would be great. No other game that I play does this btw only AW.
  15. Hi, A local store has ASUS 34" PG349Q on sale of great price, however, the Monitor is only Gsync, So was wondering If I can pair with my 6800XT, will Radeon software recognize it or not? will I have tear free experience?
  16. So I bought this msi 1440p 165hz monitor a while ago and always had weird problems with Gsync, but then strangely also after turning Gsync off... (no, DDU didn't do shit, only changing back to my old 1080p non Gsync 60hz Asus monitor fixes it) Well I tried the msi Gsync "compatible" monitor once again ,the weird thing is, it ran fine, for an hour or so, then the same issues appeared again... mostly, lag, microstutter... and yes, turning on Gsync makes it worse... So here's what I'm noticing: Msi "gsync" monitor: resolution 1080p (or 1440p, it literally makes no difference) GPU usage ~90%... lags like hell, every 10 seconds microstutter... *dropping up to 30fps or so (oof) turning on or off Gsync makes no huge difference, except the lags are more severe with Gsync on (ironically) Asus "non Gsync" monitor: 1080p, exactly the same game settings (i triple checked) GPU usage ~30% no lag/microstutter whatsoever ever, it runs like a dream!? So the conclusion is the monitor is faulty, but what should I do, i know i should return it, but what if the exchange/ fixed monitor does exactly the same thing? Can it somehow be the gpu or display cable? (I don't really feel like buying a new cable tbh, doubt it would fix it and I already paid for the cable that came with the msi monitor) Note: running both monitors at 60fps/hz for the time being here, and what i also noticed the msi monitor shows up as "59, 119, 164" hz in windows settings <<< and I actually think thats the issue, sometimes games will show me weird hz or fps settings, like "58fps, 116hz, 330hz..." like the monitor just doesn't work as it should and messes up everything?
  17. Hi, I've a horizontal tear line that appears in the same place all the way across my screen. I notice it in gaming but also watching videos in chrome look at the tree in this video https://drive.google.com/file/d/14PoUoH6MFKO2bKouVM2z1zhqvBeKUOPN/view?usp=sharing (having just viewed that video back i think my phone isn't helping... there is only one tear line IRL) I have a lg CX set to 4k 60 hz and a RTX370 Ti I have vsync enabled in nvidea control panel it doesn't appear to lock my refresh rate in game. I have to enable it in game to restrict my FPS, tested this out on 4 different games. But even when my fps sticks at 60hz the line is still present. New to gsync so don't know if this is expected behaviour or not. Its a fairly new build, the only issue i had was the Pc not getting past boot on a cold start, an immediate restart and it would boot no problem. This seems to have resolved itself overtime though. Just playing around and it only seems to be an issue at 4k 60hz, 1080p at 120hz is fine.
  18. Is there a list somewhere of G-Sync monitors that are Freesync compatible? Mine is not, so I was wondering if I could find out, prior to purchasing, if a monitor is compatible because I have an AMD card at the moment.
  19. Hello there, I need the suggestion for the best HDMI 2.1 cable for my LG CX48 OLED tv and RTX 3090. My Requirements are : Length must be 30 feet 4k 120hz HDR I have a confusion about the latency of the cable because of the length. This amount of cable length will cause any issue? Please suggest to me the brands or specific models of the cable that will serve my purpose. Thanks
  20. I have an ASUS VG27AQL1A Zaku and the problem is, my GeForce GTX 1070 is too old to 'support' GSync compatible monitors. The 'support' is italic and bold is because, it works, however, I got no display on POST until the log screen, means I can't see the UEFI and my motherboard add-on speaker will sound off error that there's no display detected. Taking a look at my local retail price lists, I'm looking at the Gigabyte's GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Vision, which is $1.45-1.5K (after reversing, it's about nearly US$1.1K), not sure if 3080 Vision might be in stock, I need the slight VRAM bump due to some hobby work. I think a month or so, the 3070 series was $500 more, and the newly released 3050 was $800, it's now hovering $550-700. Also my 1070 is the Founders Edition, I would like to retire it ASAP.
  21. Hello all this is my first post. I have a very strange and specific issue that I have tried to resolve. I have an asus b550f non wifi mother board a Ryzen 5800x and an rtx 3080 fe. All water cooled and whatnot. I recently purchased an lg c1 tv and decided to connect to my pc for games with hdmi 2.1 as the 3080 supports this. I also have a Samsung odyssey g7 32” 240hz for gaming that is connected with DisplayPort . I leave my pc on as I have some background services running that I need for work and such. After powering off my displays when I go to turn either of them back on they will just stay on a black screen indefinitely. Windows ctrl shift b to reset graphics drivers does nothing. Unplugging and plugging the monitor or tv power or display cables does nothing. My sleep settings are all disabled. I have also disabled hibernate in the command prompt. My bios does not have a primary display adapter setting which I’ve heard may help. Do you guys have any idea how I can turn my displays back on and have input after powering them off? Thanks in advance
  22. Hello. I am going to upgrade my PC sooner or later, and I am looking towards buying a better monitor than my current one. I am thinking of getting a: 144hz, G-Sync, IPS panel, 1ms, 1440p monitor. I've been trying to find one that's promising, but I just couldn't find any. Hence why I'm making this topic, hoping to find someone that knows a good model that would fulfill what I'm looking for.
  23. My issue is a little weird. My main monitor is a Samsung Odessey G7 32' Issue: Monitor restarts every time I exit a fullscreen game I have searched for this issue online but they are a bit different from this, or maybe I just missed in among the THOUSANDS of other gsync issues. I have a multiple display setup, and I have G-sync turned ON on my main monitor, and whenever I exit or alt-tab from a fullscreen game for 5-6 sec my monitor restarts for no reason (I am guessing g-sync is either disrupting the signal or sending some shutdown signal). This happens once and then everything goes back to normal, or so I would like to say. Due to this all the windows that were on different monitors get switched to single one and then I have to put every single one of them back to their places. I am pretty sure that G-sync is the cause as turning it off brings everything back to normal. All of my drivers are upto date, this is not a port or cable issue, and I cannot put valorant on windowed as G-sync actually is useful with all that tearing.
  24. Hey! I just ordered a pretty powerful pc with a rtx3080ti. Im upgrading from geforce 780ti so it's going to be a pretty big leap for me. Im very hesitant about which monitor I should order. Ive been looking for a 4K monitor with at least 144hz, but the most interesting ones seems to be freesync and only g-sync compatible which Ive heard bad things about. There are a few hdmi 2.1 monitors releasing here in a few months and though maybe I should wait for them because they have true gsync and nvidia reflex (hdmi 2.1 would be cool to test but only does 120hz). So my question here is simply, which monitor would you recommend for me? Thank you in advance
  25. I've been experiencing Screen Tearing despite G-sync being enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel, G-sync being supported by both of my Monitors, newest Drivers and newest V-Bios of the GPU. Can someone please help me fix it?
