Hi fellow OC enthusiasts, I am currently fiddling around with overclocking my hardware for the first time, so I am a bit of a newbie. I generally tend to inform myself as much as possible and I am quite careful so I don't take unnecessary risks. However, now I apparently have run into something where I can't find an answer that I understand. Software I use: MSI Afterburner CPU-Z GPU-Z Valley Benchmark HWInfo64 I have OC'd both my CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 1600x) and my GPU (Gainward GTX 1070) and I'm also running a Memory Try It! preset for my RAM. For more information regarding my specs, please see my signature. If you need more info regarding my overclocks, please let me know. My CPU is running at a stable 3900 MHz with a voltage of 1.375, tested with Ryzen Master and made permanent through my BIOS. My GPU has so far been running at a stable +130 MHz Core Clock and +620 MHz Memory Clock. Now I was curious about what else I can do if I adjust the GPU voltage. From what I have read there is a hard limit set by Nvidia, but there still seems to be some potential that I could use. I've found a guide that recommended to first set a fix voltage. I can post a link if that's okay, but basically what he says is I have locked my GPU to a constant voltage of 1000 mV (which is lower than what it would usually reach). I have then set Temp and Power limits to their max values (92c and 112%). When increasing the memory clock to 650 MHz I am beginning to see "stars" when running Valley, so I am sticking to 620 MHz. However, I can boost the core clock far higher than before it seems. Temps stick to a maximum of 79c even with +160 MHz core clock, however Valley benchmark scores don't improve beyond the margin of error. At a +140 MHz I had a Min FPS of 33 instead of the normal 22, so I assume that this is a core clock at which games perform a little more stable, I am yet to test in an actual game though. Any other boost has given me 22 Min FPS again. I haven't tested higher boosts yet as I am unsure if they currently have any effect at all and if they might cause issues when unlocking the voltage again. What made me curious is the fact that despite a higher core clock there seems to be no improvement in performance, no increase in temperature and what makes me wonder the most is that GPU-Z now only shows "Idle" as the PerfCap Reason when it had shown "Pwr" and/or "vRel" before. If it would show these reasons again that'd make sense to me, but "Idle"?. This makes me think that locking my GPU voltage had no effect or at least doesn't let the GPU reach a higher level of performance now. Since the whole voltage-thing still is quite blurry to me anyway, I am now looking for advice. Again, I wasn't able to find anything that I actually understand when doing my research. There seems to be people benefiting from undervolting as it decreases the temps and therefore lets the core boost to a higher clock, then again overvolting seems to be better for others as it increases the amount of power the core can draw in oder to boost its frequencies. But what would I have to do to find the sweet spot for my GPU? I am not afraid to test a few things out, I just don't know where or how to start. Thanks for your time.

Hi guys, So i don't know what happened but my laptop has recently started to crash and restart when playing that give load to the GPU. Mainly games like Apex legends. Things that I have tried so far to fix this issue. Clean my laptop completely and put new thermal paste on the required places. Formatted everything on it and reinstalled windows from scratch Gave the laptop to an authorized service center, which made things worse, Now my battery doesn't work, The functions are working but when i want to change certain functions like turn on keyboard light and such, Fn+F1 to F7 won't work. I'll attach a pic of the said buttons and their functions. Yes i have used keyboard checker to see if all the buttons are working and they are. Whenever I play Apex or any other game my FPS drops down to the 20s and everything lags, and eventually when there are too many things happening the whole game freezes a white screen comes up and my laptop crashes. I have no idea why this happens and I've almost given up on fixing this. Below I have shown the readings from GPUz TechPowerup, the max load was 64 % and PrefCap Reason was showing Vrel = Voltage Relability and occasionally it would change to Pwr. I'VE managed to get my hotkeys to work I deleted some drivers and reinstalled them and my keyboard is fine now. Blue tooth is back and so is my wifi. The only problem I have now is low frames for the games that I play. I've used Heaven to benchmark attaching that below. Can't update BIOS battery is dead although I don't see any physical damage to the battery. DxDiag.txt

Im going to be buying my first real gaming PC on December 1st! but its used which im ok with because it hasn't been used for mining! So my main concern is how can i tell if im getting the actual components they promised he said that he would run CPUZ and GPUZ and superposition benchmark but im wondering if you can alter them to show fake components. Any tips to make sure i am getting the Ryzen 7 1800x and asus GTX 1070 i was promised?

Hi So like the title suggests, I am trying to overclock my Msi gtx 970 and I have noticed that (at this level of oc at least) the different software I'm using is all displaying different scores. The software I'm using is Unigine Heaven, Msi afterburner and GPUZ. The core clocks are reading as follows Unigine- Core 1685 Msi Afterburner- 1571 GPU-Z- 1483 I have attached a print screen so you can view the scores for yourselves if you wish I have tried re-starting each piece of software (thinking this was maybe some soft of refresh issue) but the values didn't change in each case. Does anyone know why this is occurring as I don't know which to take as a true representation of my GPU clock speed. At this stage I cant say whether it is stable or not- it seems to be semi stable (I looked online and others seem to have got similar speeds stable). Thanks in advance

So, I've just reinstalled my Kraken completly after some problems with the temperature. And I don't know if this is bad or not, because I didn't really check when all was good either.

I been playing around with Afterburner to try and see how much of an overclock I can get out of my MSI GTX980 Gaming 4G. I managed to get a stable overclock of 1528MHz on the core with boost and 7990MHz on the memory running Valley and Heaven. Stock voltage for this card under gaming load peaks at 1.026V with an ASIC Quality of 74.1%. I noticed something odd about the VDDC sensor reading in GPU-Z when I first applied the settings and ran FurMark. The VDDC reading peaks at 1.000V in the early 5 minutes of the test but later the voltage goes up to 1.200V and peaks at 1.225V half an hour later. I didn't touch core voltage since it was locked out in Afterburner and it was not reading it's value. Was GPU-Z providing me inaccurate readings or was the card automatically raising the voltage based on my overclock?

I monitor my GPU and CPU with Windows 7 desktop gadgets that use PCMeter. Today I noticed that the GPU clock only shows 324MHz, so I loaded up GPU-Z to check and same again... My GPUs core clock speed should be 1072MHz and boost should be 1137MHz, what's happened? Hello folks, Got myself a sweet 970 Strix like so many of you have, and found out it clocks like a beast, unlike my CPU, which probably doesn't so good because cheapish motherboard. Anyway, this is my first time using Firestrike, or even having a series attempt at overclocking a Graphics Card, so forgive me if I am making a rookie mistake, but here we go. Maxing out Asus GPU tweak, I went ahead and Downloaded MSI afterburner. The top stable result I have been able to get hold of is at 1450mhz Boost clock and 2000mhz Memory clock. During the Firstrike Benchmark, I can see that GPU-Z shows that I did indeed regularly hit up to and around 1450, especially during the combined test. What puzzles me, is that the Firestrike result at http://www.3dmark.com/fs/3712352 is showing that I only had it clocked at 1346mhz. Is the actual clock 1346 even though the card happily achieved ~1450? Any tips on the overclocking? Is it true I will get a better core speed if I turn down the Memory? On a related note, Firestrike also says that my general Ram (2x4gb) is at a speed of 800mhz when it should be at 1600mhz. Is this another mistake a result of my limited computing knowledge or is that correct? I'd have thought RAM speed would not differ by amount of kits in the motherboard, surely they both run at 1600 equaling a total RAM speed of... 1600. My my, I am full of questions today, but I do want to put the correct result in the LTT Firestrike spreadsheet.
