I need to get a 2tvme drive for someone. the options are in $Canadian dollars are: XPG S11 pro (230) vs WD Black Sn750 (254) vs PNY CS3040 (267) vs Xpg S50 Lite (250) The person does do work with heavy drawing software, photoshop, and some programming+rendering and games. She has an Intel 10850k so it only does Pci-E 3.0 and that's fast enough but the S11 pro goes down to 200 occasionally but the PNY scales a tiny bit more. Honestly would I do better just waiting for the s11 to go on sale or go out on a limb and snag the PNY.

Budget (including currency): ~$700 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rocket League, Valorant, Apex, Watch Dogs, Finale, Ableton Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Motherboard: ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 3600 Mhz Ram: 8GB x 2 Geil RGB 3200 Mhz DDR4 GPU: Either the Asrock RX 570 4GB or the MSI RX 570 8GB (based on the website of the place he bought his PC from, it's one of these 2) My boyfriend paid about $900 for his PC last year, prebuilt from a local PC builder, and he's been wanting to upgrade. I just finished a build of my own and feel as though I know enough that I could get him some components for Christmas that would really upgrade his PC. I was able to find out the above info about his PC (without him noticing that I'm looking at his system info lol), but I'm trying to decide what parts would be best to upgrade without spending too much or causing a bottleneck. I think upgrading the RAM and GPU would be the best route, since I want to avoid him needing a new Windows license. The MB can take up to 32 GB of RAM, so I'm thinking on getting him the CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4, but I'm torn on what GPU to get him that won't be too much for his CPU to keep up with. Any recommendations on a decent GPU? My budget is flexible, and if I find a really well suited GPU for his PC that's almost all of my budget, I'll either get cheaper RAM or not get him the RAM altogether. If I can't seem to find a nice GPU, I may only get him the RAM and wait on a GPU. Thoughts?

Hello, I need urgent help in how to rip a damaged audio CD. I found a bunch of my mom's old CDs from the early 2000s that she believed she had lost, most of them are in ok to bad shape. Her bday is coming up soon so I wanted to get an MP3 player with all the music on the CDs loaded up on it as a bday gift. They are abour 30 CDs, I have come across two of them that play just fine with some songs having a couple of hiccups, I went ahead and ripped them but they stay stuck as I can hear the DVD reader on my PC go crazy trying to read the disk while ripping. Is there a way I can rip these CDs? I have tried cleaning them well with soap and water and a soft cloth but to no avail. I heard there was a brillo option but I do not wish to damage them any more than they already are to the point where they are unplayable. Any help will do please.

Budget (including currency): €500-750 Country: The Netherlands Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Lockheed Martin Prepar3D V5, wanting to play MS Flight Sim 2020 Other details: Mostly trying second hand, but I'm okay with good value new parts. I got an amazing Redditor willing to gift his 27" 1080p 144hz TN monitor and Ryzen 5600X completely free of charge. This is such a massive help already! My 77-year old neighbour has been using flight simulators for almost 30 years now, where he meets up with people on Teamspeak and fly routes together. Here he is (he doesn't mind me posting): https://imgur.com/lkcgjlC His hardware is pretty outdated, and he's a tad upset that he can't join his fellow mates in MS Flight Simulator 2020 - he mainly plays Lockheed Martin Prepar3D V5. He's genuinely one of the nicest people I've met, but the guy doesn't have a ton to spend unfortunately. He did mention planning on buying a larger monitor this year, but that a completely new PC is out of reach. That's why I want to gift him something nice, without absolutely breaking the bank. I was planning on getting something second hand, around €600,- or so (The Netherlands - $1 is pretty much equal to €1). I'm not in a hurry and don't mind waiting for some deals, but just wanted to gather some opinions on what to look out for. I'm pretty experienced building PCs, but I've almost never used the 2nd hand market. So any advice on what to look out for or skip is super appreciated! Here's my first draft, but I'm open to change anything: https://imgur.com/NFoc3Y9 Ryzen 5600X (€0) B450 Tomahawk Max (€50) 16GB 3200Mhz RAM (new €44) 1TB Kingston NV1 (new €54) - he downloads a ton of maps and assets, so I'm hesitant on 2nd hand storage and him losing his data Corsair RM550x (€30) AMD RX 6700XT (€280) Total €498

Sorry if I posted in the wrong section Alright so I'm buying a headset for my friend as a gift, I don't know which are good, he mostly use them for gaming but he listen to a lot of music too. He currently has a pair of stereo Razer Kraken, which a quite frankly shit (In my honest opinion) I have a budget at about 100$ Nice to have: Virtual Sorround sound (His current headphones are stereo so it wouldn't matter too much if it isn't) USB - The software for his sound card or his current headset has some weird thing where we can hear all his sound but not him, I have tried everything except using a different headset Need to have: Mic - It needs to have a good mic, partly why I'm buying a new headset for him. Decent audio quality - Something better than kraken's sound "quality" (very easy to beat) Quite sturdy - He breaks stuff quite easily (don't know how lol), the headset I lend him (only for mic use) broke at his house after a few months. Have been looking at HyperX Cloud II, do anybody have any experience with these? Do you know some other headset that is better than that? Note: I will probably not respond in the next 12 hours Any help appreciated

Hello friends yes I am looking for a gift for my sister. She specifically wants over-ear headphones and she is open/interested in trying the open-back style, and long-story short I have two main ideas as of right now. As the title says, I've narrowed down my selection to the Philips SHP9500 and the (Massdrop) HiFiMAN HE-350. I know that the HE-350s will be a much better all-around experience, better pair of cans, etc. But I'm mainly wondering if it would be worth it to buy them (350s over the SHP9500's) for her. The Philips ones are about $55USD on newegg right now, and the 350s are $100USD, and I have no problems with buying the 350s, but again I'm not sure if she'll really 'appreciate' them. I am by no means an audiophile/expert, but I know more about audio than she does. The nicest headphones she's ever owned are the apple earpods, so either one will be an upgrade. But as I said, I'm no super-enthusiast. My main headphones are the ATH-M50x's (basic, I know but they're great for gaming), and she's enjoyed them the handful of time she's listened to them. I don't really know if she'd be losing anything by not using a DAC/AMP with the 350s, and since she listens to 100% of her music on her iPhone/laptop it doesn't make sense to get them if they'll be 'under used' Another note is that she specifically wants some cans to use while hanging out at home, she understands that these won't be great for going 'out and about' so she understands that and what comes with the open-back (vs. closed) headphone style. Her musical taste is mainly 'Top-40' and the like. Blink-182 is her fav band, so a lot of California will be played through these. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, Thanks guys and gals, -Goldhound4. headphone links (US): 350's : https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-hifiman-he-350 SPH9500's : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826138190&cm_sp=Homepage_BS-_-P1_26-138-190-_-10252016

Hi! I am looking to buy a birthday present for a 14 year old who is obsessed with Linus Tech Tips videos, attended LTX, builds his own computers, is really into overclocking them, just generally obsessed with specs of products and computer parts. Something under $100. If you were that age, what would you get excited to receive for your birthday? Any help appreciated!

Yesterday I got some advice on a first build that I want to do using a Ryzen 5 1600 and GTX 1050 ti. Since, I have spoken to a friend currently living in Chicago who can buy parts on my behalf and send them to me as a gift thereby eliminating the 20% VAT tax that would be due on the parts. Has anyone got experience doing anything similar? As such I can now get more for my money out of the computer so I'm thinking of upping the GPU to a 1060 6Gb and getting a bit more ram and 250Gb SSD. Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a gift for my coworker and she uses an iPhone 6/6s. I'm not too familiar with how the charging works on Apple products with the lightning cable and such and whether it has some form of Quick Charge. She's going to be promoted but has helped me quite a bit during my time here. I just wanted to repay her for that so a small parting gift (she'll just be moving to another building) would be nice. I know she lacks some sort of charging cable for her phone and has to borrow from someone else so I was thinking of that. Alternatively maybe a keyboard... but I'm just thinking ... what's special about getting someone a cable versus getting something else? It just doesn't look as appealing haha Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm looking for recommendations for a laptop for my mom for Christmas. She is currently using our old family laptop which I believe is a first or second gen MacBook pro. I've extended the life of that thing as far as I can, so now it's time to get her something new. She uses it mostly as a Facebook game machine. So it need to at least handle those flash heavy Facebook games. Also, I think she really liked the $50 amazon tablet I got her last year so looking for something that can also be used as a tablet. I was looking at the Acer Aspire R14 and the Lenovo Yoga 710, so if you have any experience with those feel free to comment. Thanks a bunch! My budget is target is about $300 but my absolute max is $600 Here are the key features I'm looking for: 1920x1080 screen Touch screen 2 in 1 fast i3 or i5 8gb of ram or at least an option to upgrade things I'm willing to compromise on: size battery life ports track pad quality

Hi! I've been thinking about the Kindle paperwhite for weeks as a holiday gift to my SO. It's either that or the first hard bound book of Saga. She's into fantasy literature but she's read most of it already (I wish she was lying so I have more gift options but alas, she's legit). So she reads more from little publishers nowadays (or that's what I think she's doing) Anyways. How's the Kindle? Is the book selection big enough that they also have -underground- stuff? I wish I knew the authors she's reading but I don't. Sad. Anyways, I hear you can load PDF's into it to read and annotate (highlight). How does that work if the PDF file has graphics? She's a masters student so she does quite a bit of academic reading too I'm bothered whenever she uses a LCD screen to read her PDF's and eBooks. She already has bad vision and the LCD screens aren't helping.

Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some gifts and not sure where to be posting this but as a techie, I'd like to gift non-techie co-workers some stuff cause I'm a newbie at the workplace. I'm thinking of getting macaroons for everyone just in general and on the side I need an explicit gift for my manager. I was thinking of the Azio MK Retro since we're always by our computers typing away and my manager is kinda hipster. What else could I be getting my manager or any other coworker? Any useful daily tech stuff?

Ok so my parents asked me what i wanted for christmas and i said a new pair of headphones and a mic, and they were like "go on, what else?" and i just cant come up with anything else really, they arent the best at getting stuff of the web so no ebay or Amazon but some webshops are fine(Swedish ones, but i can find them on there) because mom managed to get me a OnePlus 2 last year lol but i litteraly have no idea what to ask for, i have basically everything i want at the moment(that isnt a litteral pile of all the good used hardware around so i could build PCs all day ) but seeing as i got more RAM and a PSU last year i cant come up with anything, i dont want nor need a new keyboard and mouse, screens or speakers, the only thing i really could think of was a pair of headphones and a mic, so i decided on a pair of HD 558s and a Snowball iCE(not really sure why its so much cheaper, still seemed good to me) and i know im getting a nice new multi tool because mom asked me to pick one, but they WANT to give stuff and i cant think of anything so please help here here is a short list of stuff i dont need or want: mouse keyboard speakers parts for my main PC if not a I7 4790K that also can go to 4.7GHz and a GTX 1080 but that is 1; too hard to find and 2; expensive AF Amp screen router(cuz i have one in my room for wifi now lol) rubiks cubes or similar puzzles cant think of anything to wish for tbh... strange to not know what you want lol but i think around $50 is good, so maybe three things or something for around that or less or a bit more. TL;DR: parents want to give me stuff, cant think of anything good because i have what i want now because i have almost everything i want at the moment. need suggestions on what to wish for, somewhere around $50 is good and maybe 3 things or something idk. thanks for any help with this strange problem i have

My dad asked me to do some research for a laptop for my step mom. She is a school teacher and needs functions like word and other school related apps. Pre installed application as such would be amazing. Any current deals would be great to. This device could be a laptop, tablet, or a hybrid. It does not need to be super powerful but something that's fast and good for multitasking would be the best. Since the marketplace is full of laptops of all kinds with a ton of advertising and I do not know much about portable technology I come here to my fellow nerds. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

Hello guys. I have a challenge, I have to pay 50-80$ per months for Subscribe (no direct buy) and get different PC parts every month. Do you know any kind of sites where I can do it ? or maybe giftcard to buy pc parts with it. Main task, it should be monthly subscription.
