I've had my Asus vg27aql1a for almost 2 years and I've noticed the past few months this has been happening (video attached). I dont really know when this started happening or if this always has happened but is there a way I can fix this? This is global, not just this specific instance in the game. 20231023_013457.mp4

Hi, I got my first ultrawide monitor yesterday, the Asus TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B 34". It was on sale and I've been looking for an affordable uw-monitor for the past few years to play FFXIV on. It was on sale and I got it. I did a lot of research into the panel types etc and VA panels got a lot of slack for having ghosting problems etc, but this monitor was "praised" to have low ghosting effect. I've had a pretty terrible experience so far in the last 48 hours of using the display. In FFXIV I don't really see that much of ghosting but for example in minecraft and in netflix the ghosting is really noticeable. My question is that is it something that I can "fix" in color settings etc or should I return the monitor? Is the monitor faulty? I don't want to spend 700€ on a monitor that I don't really see myself using on many of the games I play. I'm coming from TN and IPS-panels so I've never really had this problem before. I'm going to attach a link to a video I quickly took to show you the problem, it's not great but you can see my point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmz0hXgF1CM Thanks in advance.

I was playing Rust and realized I couldn't crouch jump. I have a Keychron K10 keyboard. Space-bar doesn't work when I am holding 'ctrl'. Just started to have this problem recently. I don't see it as a ghosting problem as it can do 20+ keys at once. Any solutions? 20230526_153540.mp4

Hi fellow Anthonies, I have a problem right now that I am facing on my new monitor I had got a few weeks ago to increase my productivity from my teeny 13 inch laptop. It is the Lenovo L22e. It is a VA Panel, 1080p, goes from 49-76 hz. Pretty nice. It has tiny bezels, and looks great compared to my laptop which was kinda old which I believe was a TN panel (im not sure but it sucks so it probably is). So I had seen that it had a feature that it could support upto 4 ms response times. Now I know its not too good, but fortunately or unfortunately, I have not been spoilt with high refresh rate and low response times, and think its good enough. So when it came, by default the pixel overdrive setting in the built in monitor settings was set to medium. It was when I was noticing purple ghosts/fringing (I am not sure what is the best terminology) when I was scrolling under any sorts of text under any color background. It was also noticeable when you move around a small window around on the icons and text. It was also present in 75 hz mode. Interesting part: This sort of ghosting was not occurring when overdrive was set to off. Which is pretty weird since every single thread I was searching about this said that it is because the pixels are not shifting fast enough, so the answer was to switch on game mode/pixel overdrive mode. For me, in case of no overdrive, there was a very teeny white blur like one millimetre around the text, but with it on, there was a very huge and noticeable purple color ghost following the text as I pressed middle click and was scrolling through a document. Now I know that I dont have a super cool tuned eye that could make out between 1 and 5 ms lag but like you can see for yourself. It's pretty weird. scroll.mp4 You can see when I turn it on, there's definitely some stuff going on that shouldn't. It's currently 1080p 75 hz. Any advice would be appreciated. EDIT: With normal instead of extreme, it looks much better but its still visible.

I am reposting my old topic as I didn't find a solution yet. Resetting monitor settings didn't help at all. This problem only occurs in game. My monitor is 240hz 1080p. So I upgraded from a 1050 Ti to a 3060 Ti oc. I maxed out the graphical settings in all games and noticed things looked wierd. In the most games for example Far cry 4 and Halo infinite in highy detailed places like cliffs and trees every single texture gets smeared wich makes it really hard to see what's going on. Playing on lower graphical settings fixes the problem wich is wierd. And games like, forza and gta don't have any problems at all on max graphics. My monitor do have a 4ms response time but i didn't have any problems with my old GPU. Plz help! Thanks in advance!

Browser, version and OS: Google Chrome, 21H2 Windows 10 PRO Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened? scrollip/down on any website What happened? the text is showing trails whenever i scroll up and down What did you expect to happen? I expect to know if it is a common problem or I have any problem with the hardware itself Link to a page where it happened, if applicable: n/a Screenshots of the issue, if applicable: n/a Any other relevant details: I have only been using the monitor for like a couple of weeks. If it's a cloudflare error, what was the ray ID from the bottom of the error page?

Hi, Recently I've bought the ASUS TUF VG27AQL1A 1440p @ 170HZ overclocked. The monitor has low backlight, no dead pixels, all in all feels good. The problem I'm having is the ghosting of the monitor. Just moving a window around in a circular motion in desktop can make all the colors trail behind, I would take a video of it but it seems my camera can not capture it. In game it is less noticeable, but still somewhat there if you look for it. Does this happen normally since its a more powerful monitor compared to my 1080p one? Should I consider RMA'ing it? Note: Overdrive doesn't fix the problem, it seems to make it worse. I'm running with adaptive-sync and ELMB-sync enabled. Another thing I noticed was at lower HZ such as 60, it becomes absolutely horrible ghosting on the desktop.

Hello guys A week ago I bought the VG242YPbmiipx / VG242YP gaming monitor and noticed that the monitor starts ghosting as soon as I enable AMD Freesync in the OSD. It's especially bad when scrolling through an article which as a white background and black text because I get these black smears. The weird thing about this is that I don't get any ghosting when Freesync is OFF. According to the OSD all settings like the Overdrive function stay the same (overdrive: set to normal) and only freesync is being changed. Overdrive set to normal and Freesync off => no ghosting, no smears, all good Freesync on (sets overdrive to normal) => Ghosting issues and black smears Overdrive set to extreme no freesync => Ghosting issues and black smears Here are some technical infos about my system: Monitor Refresh rate: I'm running it on 165Hz but the problem is present at 144Hz as well GPU: MSI Radeon RX 470 Gaming X 4G CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Mobo: MSI Tomahawk MAX RAM: 16GB 3200Mhz DDR4 Cable: Display Port 1.2 OS: Windows 10, Build 19043.1083 AMD driver version: 21.6.2 I suspect that the monitor enables the extreme overdrive mode without actually showing it but since it greys out the OD function while freesync is on, I can't do anything against it. Is there any fix for this issue? Or do I have to return it? Freesync / Freesync Premium should not cause this problem afaik

Hello. I work from home as a motion graphics designer, and I have a 2 display set-up, one specifically for gaming (LG GN800 27" QHD 1ms 144Hz) that I also use as a secondary display for my After Effects workflow and a primary 4K display that I use only for animation and design work (also content consumption via the Apple TV 4K 2nd gen). I have recently purchased an LG 27UL850, intrigued by the price point, design, colour performance and IO, but I have noticed an issue...the horrible ghosting... Now, I'm absolutely aware that 4K IPS displays (below 600$ in price) have a 5ms response time at most, therefore some ghosting is to be expected, but this LG display has a severe amount of it. Maybe I am especially sensitive to these things, because of my job, but I heard similar complaints over the LG Ultrafine Line with regards to ghosting. Every sort of movement I see is a blurry mess, even at low speeds, and THANKFULLY amazon accepted my request for a refund, so I'm in the market for a replacement. I am aware of the BenQ PD2700U, but I'd like to know if there are some alternatives too. Please consider that I'm not made of money, therefore I'd ONLY need these characteristics for the display: 4K Resolution 60 Hz Decent performance with ghosting (within the limits of IPS 4K panels) 99/100% sRGB HDR 10 (or beyond) With regards to the budget I'd prefer staying within 600$ USD, but I can approach 700$ if it's worth it. Thank you so much!

Good afternoon all, I have owned an Acer Predator XB253QGP panel for the last two months, and was seemingly happy with it, especially considering it was an upgrade from my old BenQ 60hz TN panel which was almost 10 years old; However, last week I upgraded my PC as my old system could not run Call of Duty: Cold War at an acceptable frame rate. Since this upgrade, and through playing the new COD I have noticed and been extremely uncomfortable with the amount of what I perceive to be ghosting? What I notice, is that through any types of motion, moving the player or animations such as reloading seemingly the environments just blur together and I feel I am seeing multiples of said environmental objects. I have always been sensitive to screen tearing which is why I picked a freesync/g-sync compatible monitor to begin with so it may just be my personal sensitivity, as reviews all seem to be fairly impressed with the monitors performance for the price; however in comparison to my old monitor, I feel that the BenQ actually has less of this ghosting, and therefore almost makes me want to return to it. I am wondering both; whether anyone else has had this issue, or has this monitor and can confirm it is good and I am simply blind; or whether there is any way I can further test/assess if this monitor is just not performing correctly. I have had a few considerations so far with mixed results; - I have played with adaptive sync both on and off with negligible change - I have used both OFF and NORMAL overdrive modes, however I feel that this is more in tune with motion blur or ghosting rather than overshoot - I play COD maxed out with RTX and only obtain 60 - 100 fps, and maybe this is having an impact on my monitors performance? - I have tried the UFO test however do not know how to get any useful imagery/information from this test; when conducting the test on both monitors I feel that my 60hz panel gives a smoother image than my 144hz monitor at both 70 and 144fps options If there is any more information that might be helpful I am more than happy to supply it, as at this point every time I sit down to play a game I spend my whole time assessing whether there is major blur or not, and it results in a headach Have a good one all EDIT: After doing further research, at least for my monitor the presented issue does not seem to be ghosting presented by my monitors g2g response time; rather it is simply a form of motion blur that is created by MRPT or Moving Picture Response Time. From my readings it seems that this is something that all monitors and TV's experience, and would require a refresh rate of 1000ms to completely remove, as it is to do with the way your eyes track motion. This information was found in the article linked here; https://blurbusters.com/gtg-versus-mprt-frequently-asked-questions-about-display-pixel-response/ Following from this, from my personal limited university study of psychology, I feel that it's safe to explain at least part of what's being experienced away as simply the fact that due to it pertaining to our eye tracking, once we feel we have noticed this blur, it's hard to 'unnotice' and therefore we concentrate on it which then again, due to it being related to eye tracking, makes the experience even worse again. I may not be correct on this, however I feel it is relatively accurate and would suggested the tests listed below for anyone experiencing this, whilst also getting one or two other people to look at your monitor to see if they experience the same visual blur. Thanks again to everyone who replied to this thread and I hope this information may help others with the same concerns about their monitor. https://www.testufo.com/persistence https://www.testufo.com/eyetracking https://www.testufo.com/blurtrail https://www.testufo.com/photo https://www.testufo.com/mprt The requirements and usefulness of the tests should be apparent when conducting them. Good luck everyone

Gday, I'm curious if anyone has tried a warranty claim on a gigabyte monitor for ghosting. I have a FV43U and the ghosting on it is so bad some games become unplayable and when scrolling in word documents it becomes disorientating to look at. It seems to be a common issue of the monitor. I'm thinking about to replace it with a Odessey Neo G8 or G7 any recomendations for HDR 4k monitors will be welcome. Cheers in advance

Hi everyone, Wanted some input from some others here, I've just bought a Optix MAG272QR 27"(va panel) to replace my old Acer predator gn246hl (TN Panel). So far my experience is, colours and nice and vibrant, no back light bleed at all, however i'm getting a very noticeable amount of Ghosting/trailing in windows and web browsing and a little noticeable in games too. even in the ufo test you can see a considerable trail behind it compared to my acer. Tried setting the response to fast/normal but instead of ghosting under movement everything just smears with coronas around it and at 144hz instead of 165hz the issue continues, at 60hz its by far the worse specially moving a window with folders/text. Anyone else had any issues? Took a gamble with this monitor with there being no reviews out here in the UK at least but looks like i may just get a refund on it.

Hello everyone, I have a problem with this monitor model "legion y27gq-25", the problem appears when I activate the "extreme" mode in the "overdrive" menu of the monitor's control panel. When this mode is active and the response time of the monitor is set to 0.5 ms, the problems begin, the image starts "ghosting" or "overshoot", I filmed 2 examples of what is happening to me, you can see in these links: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p8p29h0amudlkti/video do ghosting.mp4?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/yu2nmbwsdlh4vli/video ghosting alien.mp4?dl=0 The image ceases to be sharp and brightly colored streaks appear on certain objects in the images. Can anyone confirm if this is a defect in my monitor or if this happens on all monitors of the same model? thank you

So about a month ago I decided to install a new GPU. I chose the MSI GTX 1050 GAMING X as it offered a good amount of performance, whilst keeping the price down. Unfortunately, my monitor is VGA, as are all my TV's. So I had to purchase a Displayport to VGA cable. Unfortunately, my 16:9 monitor ghosted badly on this new GPU. So I used my 16:10 panel and the ghosting was less aparrent. However, fast forward to now, and I want to play games for youtube. I fire up my recording software and record. When I go to movie maker. BLACK LINES. So I decide to switch to my 16:9 display, and play my games. But when I fired it up the ghosting was to much on stuff like emails, which has lots of fine text. So to get to the point, I need to know what is at fault, the cable or the GPU, and what I should do next.

Hello! This is my first time posting here. Here's the link to the Reddit page where I've also posted this issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/6cmjzu/is_this_ghosting_acer_xb271hu/ Recently, I upgraded my PC to a GTX 1080 Ti and an Acer xb271hu monitor. I've been experiencing what I think are issues with this monitor. When I turn my mouse around, I get some kind of image doubling, to where it looks like there are many copies of the same image moving along with my camera movement.I am running my games on max settings with my monitor at 144 Hz and G-Sync enabled. I'm getting 144 fps, so I don't think it's lag. I tried lowering the Hz to 120 and 60, G-sync off, OD set to off, normal and extreme and I tried ULMB mode as well. Things stayed the same.Is this called ghosting? Or is it just a normal result of me spinning my mouse around too fast? Is this a result of this being an IPS monitor. Would going to a TN monitor solve this problem for me? I don't have any experience with higher end monitors, so I would appreciate any help you could give me.I recorded some videos of this phenomenon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zuDKXyIsT4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P361DgiqkTwNotice how there are like 5 copies of the wires when I turn.Thank you in advance!

I've been somewhat obsessed with finding an NKRO laptop lately. I went to Best Buy and tried out a bunch of them. Found a couple, too. To be clear, I'm interested in something like up to 20-key rollover for use with stenography — so anything more than that (or claiming to be NKRO) should be fine. Here's what I've found; - There are a series of laptops sharing the same board that seem to advertise 30-key rollover. Asus GL553, GL502. Aorus X7. Acer Predator 17 (maybe). Gigabyte P57x. - The 30-key rollover design works! But it feels cheap (bends the chassis and has lots of space between the keys) - The other NKRO option I found is the R3 series of Alienware laptops → this seems to be full NKRO and works really, really well from what I tried. - Other manufacturers advertise anti-ghosting, but do not deliver on NKRO. Looking at you, Razer Blade Stealth ? The best form factor, sadly, seems to be the Alienware 13. Obviously, there are much lighter/slicker laptops than that, but none I've found have N-key rollover. Has anyone else ever gone down this rabbit hole?

I got this brand new monitor(https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260311) to replace my old 5 ms TFT monitor, but the new one feels much choppier and when i move the cursor while gaming i can notice ghosting trail on objects in the sky or where the terrain is uniform. Are there other things in play here other than response time? Thanks in advance!

When I run this test: https://www.testufo.com/#test=framerates-text&pps=1440 on DELL S2716DG I can see white letters below the actual text. It's pretty annoying. I tried setting Response time to normal, but it only makes it a little bit less visible. The same goes with changing ULMB and refresh rate. I want to keep it 144Hz, but the ghosting is clearly visible in the browser and in games. Any ideas what settings I can change to get rid of ghosting? Or maybe I should buy different monitor.

So I installed my old GTX 760 in my home server (specs in sig) to experiment with various GPU accelerated stuff. After installing the driver, I'm getting this weird effect within Windows that's most noticeable on text. It basically creates a little "ghost" of everything just to the right of it. Not sure how to explain it best and I can't get a good photo because the "ghosts" are very faint, but they really make the whole display look really fuzzy. It's definitely something to do with Windows and not the GPU itself, because the effect isn't there in the BIOS. I tried reinstalling the driver, didn't make a difference. It's not a huge problem but I would like to fix it and know why it's happening if possible. Ideas?
