I'm putting together a new PC next year and was looking at both of MSI's triple fan Ventus and Gaming X cards. Is there a big price different between the two and is there a major difference in performance between the two?

I have a Corsair 275R and noticed when I first switch it on, it makes a weird alarm noise. It's not very loud, but it's very high pitched, just a single continuous tone. It's been doing it since I switched my PC on about 5-10 minutes ago, until a couple of minutes ago when the rear case fan came on and it stopped at the exact same time. It definitely stopped too, it's not like it's being drowned out by the fan. Temps all seem fine. CPU and motherboard temps are all < 30C. GPU is <40C (ambient temp is only ~15C) It's a Gigabyte B660M with a 13600K and AK620 cooler if that matters Thanks

So i was trying to OC my MSI RX480 Gaming X with Afterburner (+100mV, +50% Power Limit, 1390mHz core clock, 2250mHz memory clock), AMD Crimson driver version 17.3.3. When i started Furmark and ran a 1080p test (burn-in option included in setting), it ran for 5 seconds (during which fans kicked in 100% and GPU temp rose to 84C) and then my display froze for a few secs, went black and flickered back, and Furmark crashed. I restarted my PC, loaded stock settings (1316mHz core clock, 2025mHz memory clock), and opened Doom, but it crashed, the screen froze and flckered, and jumped to desktop at the menu after a few seconds. Every other game i tried did the same thing. Even loading websites on Chrome froze the display and triggered the flickering! ***Note: I wasn't running MSI Gaming App at the time, and i didn't mess with Wattman, i just used Afterburner. On a further side note, i set a pretty conservative fan curve (0% fan at 50C, 40% at 52C, and upward linearly to 75% fan at 70C). I ran DDU, and installed AMD Crimson version 17.1.1, but still this problem persists! I'm afraid i might have "soft-bricked" my RX480 Does anybody have any useful advice?

I got a MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X 3GB for free, so I went ahead and build a second PC. Now I'm trying EVGA Precision and I don't know what is Kboost, is it only for EVGA cards? and what does it do? Thanks in advance.

Got a Gaming X yesterday. Right now its at +60/+250 (1987/5760). I can't get the core clock any higher or it will crash. Didnt luck out on that part, but how far can I take the memory for it to be a safe overclock? I see people go to 6000mhz.

While attempting a +160 on the core of my 3GB MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X; even though power & voltage limit were set to max, it still somehow hit a power limit of 1 & throttled down to 1800 something after a few hours of Heaven. It was only running at 2060 something & fans maxed at about 60, same with temp. I have Nvidia control panel set to prefer maximum performance & Windows 10 set to similar too. Is there something faulty with my card or did I just lose the silicon lottery really bad?

Alright so although I haven't run any several hour long stress tests yet, but the highest my 3GB MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X has reached is 2126 on the Core & 4604 for Memory. That's from adding +160 & +600 respectively, without any additional voltage percentage just fan adjustment & power limit at 108% (max). Those are the MHz Unigine Heaven & Valley are reporting though, while Afterburner claims 2063 Core & 4608 Memory. 1: Which do I believe or should I sooner trust HWMonitor over either? 2: Should I do the same many recommend for CPU's & just put my GPU Core Voltage at 100% too, then slowly dial it back until whatever max Core Mhz OC I find becomes unstable? 3: The +600 on Memory is the highest I've read in recommendations elsewhere, but how much farther do y'all think I should push it? 4: Should I OC Core & Memory separately at first so when a crash occurs I can more easily narrow down the cause? 5: Is my fan curve alright or could it be improved for reduced noise & equivalent cooling?

In the recent days i bought a MSI 1060 GamingX GPU and everything went smoothly until i started playing games. The gpu has 2 fans one was at about 90% and the other one was doing nothing I came here just to see if somebody can tell me if its a software thing or a hardware thing. When i touch the running fan it stops and the other one starts running at the specified speed in afterburner

Does it sag? i was planning on getting the zotac amp extreme so i thought it'll be better if i get a gpu holder, but then i've changed for the Gaming X and since it's thinner than the Amp extreme i don't know if i'll need the gpu holder.

Hi, I would like to buy a 1080, but I'm still not quite sure which one to get. I am doubting between the MSI Gaming X+ 1080 and the Gigabyte AORUS 1080 (11Gbps). Which one should I be better off buying. From what I've seen, the AORUS performs better, but I'm doubting whether the MSI is more stable. Anyone any ideas?

So I'm stuck as to what graphics card I should upgrade to; MSI GTX1080 Gaming X or Gigabyte 1080GTX G1 Gaming. There is only a $10 difference between the two so price isn't a factor. I'm mostly looking for a quiet card that still performs well.

I wasn't too sure where this belongs because it has things relating to Overclocking, Gaming & Troubleshooting so here goes for now. In the MMO RuneScape I play, I'm experiencing slightly larger FPS drops than I think I should be happening due to my 3GB MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X underclocking itself. Now the explanation I got on their forums was that my OC is unstable & that GPU boost auto ramps the card up or down depending on temperatures & if mine were kept in check then it'd be just fine between 1.8 & 1.9GHz, implying anything above that is always unstable as a rule. All of this I already know & is NOT occurring at the time, temps are in the 40's, usage in 30's, power percentage 20's & power limit never hitting 1. So please correct me if I'm wrong or agree if I'm right in the following questions/statements. 1: If my OC was unstable in that game during that time at that place, I'd experience a crash, freeze or hit power limit at the same time as that downclock, right? 2: Because that's not happening, is it safe to assume that it's an issue with the games Client possibly going into a more conservative mode from being overwealmed by all the characters & thus making the GPU think it doesn't need to work as hard? 3: Is it possible that because the game's coders are just bad that they didn't make it so that the game client can handle more than a 1.9GHz GPU Core Clock, thus making the reply I got there true?

Hi all, first time posting here... I currently have an MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 and I happened to get my hands on an MSI Armor OC GTX 1080 recently. I've heard the Armor OC runs a little hot because of its last gen cooling unlike the Gaming X which seems to have lower temps across the board. Since they are the same PCB, would it be possible to swap the cooler from the gaming X 1070 and put it on the Armor OC 1080? Also, if this is possible, will the Noctua NT-H1 paste I have on hand work for GPU's since it's non conductive? or is there another factor I'm not aware of? And Lastly, to do this will I need to buy new thermal pads? Thanks

Hello, I have a Problem. I am building a Corsair Bulldog 2.0 (170z) and I want to sink a MSI GTX1050 ti 4g Gaming X as the GPU. But the Bull Dog is mITX form factor and it says right at the bottom ( Recommended Graphics Cards: CORSAIR Hydro GFX). However I really really really want to overclock the Snot out of it and I have as you can see from the uploaded image with stock twin frozr VI! Now there is room for the card to be put in there stock but the tight space screams "muy caliente!". SO, am I insane for trying to even put a 1050ti in a bulldog 2.0? Has ANYONE out there Successfully water cooled a 1050ti? Someone asked, Posted May 4 Why would you make a custom water-cooling loop for a 1050ti?!?!?!? Because you can overclock the snot out of it and beat a 3g 1060! Think of it BUDGET WATER COOLED GPU!

So which rtx 2080 (or 2080ti) is the most silent? Is it the one with the AIO on it? MSI SeaHawk X Is it the traditionally top end one? Asus Strix Or is it the one they downgraded? Msi Gaming X Trio Msi gaming x used to have 2x big fans on it, so the noise was deeper, but now they have 3x small fans like strix. I am thinking about the Seahawk X because of the aesthetic, but i have heard that the VRM fan is quite annoying on it. Haven't found any real reviews on it thought. MSI also downgraded the Seahawk X, with the 1000 series they partnered with Corsair and that product was much cleaner looking and overall better.

Hi fellas, I've taken the decision to upgrade to a GTX 1080 (currently having the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X) due to how the prices on my local market have shifted lately.I've narrowed down my options to two specific offers - an EVGA FTW2 with its iCX technology and abundant RGB, and an MSI Gaming X, which I know too well as a model (and, in fact, am very satisfied with). The EVGA GPU is slightly more expensive, but it's a negligible sum, so let's pretend they're at the same price. Now, ever since EVGA reacted to their ACX problems, I've thought that the FTW2 models were almost perfect and have been wanting to get one of those for better colour coordination inside my case, as the Gaming X looks cool to me, but it's quite limited with it's default red and white configuration. However, what I've read lately has put me off the EVGA FTW2 a little bit. First are reports from reviewers that the EVGA is a bit noisier than the MSI Gaming X under full load and may run a little bit hotter. This is a bit of an issue, as my case is a Fractal Design Define C, which is a bit constrictive as far as airflow goes. If it's 1 or 2 degrees, and 1 or 2 decibels, I guess it's not a big issue, but then I read a review from guru3D slamming the iCX concept as too much over-engineering. The fans on a GTX 1080 FTW2 are reportedly asynchronous, spinning at different RPMs, and sometimes allegedly causing an increase in perceived noise, as well as micro-vibrations in the GPU itself. Is there any merit in this claim? I actually prefer for the GPU fans to run constantly at low-RPM, but keeping the GPU between 30 and 40 degrees Celsius in idle conditions. The last bit of worrying info was that the software, Precision XOC I believe is called, is presumably garbage/unstable and inferior to the MSI Afterburner. Again, is this true, or is it a slam coming from people unhappy with how their overclock results turned out? For the record, I don't plan to overclock at all, I just need it to control fan curves (and hopefully sync both fans to the same RPM and sensor) as well as RGB effects.Would appreciate if anyone has had personal experience with above points, I really dig the visuals on the FTW2, but if it comes at the cost of usability and software frustration down the line, I may just stick with the Gaming X and its limited RGB options. Hi there, the problem is the following: Installed the latest drivers I have available the 18.11.1, and felt a shitty performance, so without noticing installed the chipset drivers and it installed and older pack (17.2). At first I thought it was the reinstalled OS (1809) but later testing (GR Wildlands benchmark) I noticed a 10FPS loss and a different CPU And GPU usage.

Hello forum. I've bought an <MSI 1660 ti gaming x> graphics card. But I can't find anywhere in the system the name <gaming x>. I know you can see your display adapter in 'Device Manager' but it doesn't show the <gaming x> name in it. So I am wondering if I can make sure that this is the graphics card for which I paid more than, say, <MSI GTX 1660 ti armour> edition.

There are lots of people saying they have hit 2.1 and even 2.2 ghz on their msi gaming x gtx 1080. I tried overclocking my gpu using msi afterburner with +140 and +400 and that was as far as it would go before it completely crashed. The core clock was only at around 1.9 ghz. My gpu temperatures were still at 50 C with fans spinning at 55%. I have already set the maximum voltage to 120% and max temperature to 92 C. Am I doing something wrong or am I just the unluckiest person in the world? BTW I used furmark to run the tests.

Hey, I'm considering a x399 gaming pro carbon motherboard for my new rendering pc, but I'm not sure whether I can fit 4 msi 1080 ti gaming x graphics cards onto it, because their width is 5.1 cm. Anyone knows the max space between each slot?

Hello friends, Ive been wondering about graphics cards for a while because im on a €250 budget and i was wondering which is better, —————————— GTX 970 GAMING X 4GB —————————— GTX 1060 3GB ASUS DUAL OC —————————— What are your opinions and what would you buy? Im kinda not sure because the 970 has 4GB of vram and vram is kinda needed for 2018 and for newer games
