  1. My friend was looking into getting a PC for gaming so I offered to spec out a PC for him. Budget: $1500-$2000 usd Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: good mixture of modern single player and multiplayer games, possibly some light streaming/recording. Other details: He was looking for a dual monitor decent gaming build and since he's not super techy I want to build him something he'd be happy with for a good while without needing to think about upgrading or tinkering with it at all. First I looked at the best things I could get for close to the $2000 price point and settled on a 7800x3d and 7900xt build but that went a bit over budget: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9HZ9L9 Bringing it back down to a 7700x I'm still over by $50 and we still haven't even considered windows: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9HZ9L9 Managed to bring it down below budget using an intel i5-13600kf: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Dw9zdH but I'm not quite so happy about using Intel. Overall I just wanted some thoughts on what kind of things I should be prioritizing here when it comes to part selection: PCIE 5.0 SSDs are pretty expensive now but I'm still leaning towards having a slot available for when they're cheaper in the future PCIE 5.0x16 motherboards are all well over $200 is it worth it to invest now to get access to better GPUs in the future? Am I prioritizing CPU too much here? How much better would it be to take that money and get a better GPU instead? Moreover how is streaming on AMD compared to NVIDIA? Any advice would help
  2. Hi, It’s tax season lol. Luckily I got a ok-ish refund. I got about $4400 CAD. I want to make tech and gaming videos on my YouTube channel. For that I need a decent gaming platform and a computer to edit video. So, I am stuck between 2 choices. Also, m keeping in mind, the subtotal of the things that i will be buying should be under $4000 CAD. As there will be gst and pst applied on purchases. 1st Choice: I can buy PS5 + XSX + MacBook Air 15” 16GB 1TB + Elgato 4K X + I already have a 4K TV. With these I will be able to record gameplay in 4K and edit on the MacBook, I have a lot of experience using Final Cut Pro. 2nd Choice: I can build a full Gaming PC, I will just have to put in another $200 in my total budget. The configuration I picked - 14700K + 4080 Super + TUF Z790-Plus + H150 Cooler + SN850X 2TB SSD + 1000W 80+ Gold PSU + 32GB 6000mhz + 4000D airflow case + 4K 144hz MSI monitor G321CU + Decent gaming mouse and keyboard. Here’s the thing, I do like the ability to have a computer on the go (MacBook), like I can lay on the couch, record a bunch of 4k gameplays and edit wherever I want. On the other hand instead of having 5 different devices, Gaming PC can record 4K using Geforce experience, edit using Premier Pro, and much more all in one. But it will fixed at one spot. Plzzzzzs HELP!!
  3. Budget (including currency): Not exactly unlimited but very high. Soft limit 80 000,-CZK or USD 3550 - although if I can save on some parts I will not be upset. More money for a better monitor Country: The Czech Republic Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 4K gaming (Baldur's Gate 3, Halo Infinite, Skyrim with 2000+ mods, heavily modded Minecraft, Factorio, Satisfactory... Gothic 1 xD) and programming (secondary focus) Other details I want to get 5090 once it comes out (unless the pricing will be horrible... which it might be...) - either way, I want to get a 50XX card. So the GPU in this build is a bit of a placeholder. I currently have RTX 2070S 8gb - which would be alright until that time except I will be upgrading to the Alienware AW3225QF once it comes out in my neck of the woods. So I need something capable of okay 4K gaming so feel free to suggest a cheaper alternative that would still be capable of that. Silence! - I'd like this build to be as silent as possible. That affected the choice of the case as well as the cooler and the fans. I reason that with more fans they will cool the PC more efficiently so they will have to spin at lower RPM, thus being quieter in general. I know some cases advertise maximum silence, insulation, and all that. But from what I heard the airflow there is really restricted. So your fans end up working overtime to cool the PC. I'd like to hear your suggestions in regards to that as well - how to make this build as silent as it can be given the high-end power hungry components? Note in regards to PC parts stores: the most popular shops for PC parts are: CZC, and Alza (those are the most popular, but there are sites like Mironet and Tsbohemia. You could also use Herueka - not really a seller but it should show you all of the shops that are selling that thing and their prices). I like CZC the most so I am mostly using them. Everything except the PC case that is not available in their shop. PC Part List: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D - Seems like a strong choice for gaming as well as programming. No CPU bottlenecks for me. CPU Cooler: The legendary Noctua NH-D15 - BARELY fits in the case lol (according to max cooler height) MB: ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI - AMD B650 - a lot of IO, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth... Considering downgrading this one a bit maybe. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are required though. Any suggestions? GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti VENTUS 3X 16G OC, 16GB GDDR6 - as I said, a bit of a placeholder before 50XX. Any suggestion for a cheaper card that would fit the criteria described above? I want something good enough for now that wouldn't be too much of a bottleneck in this build. Just not sure where the balance is so I think I need a bit of help with this one. Storage: Main: 2x Kingston SSD FURY Renegade, M.2 - 2000GB - Primary Windows install as well as primary game storage Work: Verbatim Vi3000, M.2 - 256GB - secondary Windows install with work-related stuff. Doesn't really need more than 100 gigs of storage tbh so this will definitely be fine Extra: WD Blue SA510, 2,5" - 2TB - Photos, Videos, Movies, Series, games I don't launch that often... RAM: 2x G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6400 CL32, černá - some games such as Factorio benefit a lot from RAM speeds. And 64 gigs seems to be alright for the high-end price to performance, right? (I know, kinda weird talking about price to performance here but... you know what I mean. More than 64GB starts to get extremely pricy) Question. Can I reach the max clock with XMP? Is there something I am not seeing where I would be capped at a lower speed? PSU: Be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13, ATX 3.0 - 1300W - I am really unsure about this one. As I said I want to get a high-end 50XX card in the future, but for the build right now 800w PSU would be enough. Do you think I should go for 800w instead and then upgrade to a new PSU in the future? But that wastes both time and money (buying a new PSU as well as time to re-cable everything) - I hope to avoid that with the 1300w PSU. So even if the 5090 would consume more power than 4090 (you need 1000w for that one right?) I should still be covered. But if it would require more than 1300w (oh gods help us) then this would be a waste of money. Either way, I want a high-efficiency PSU with the increased power consumption of this build. PC Case: Fractal Design North Charcoal Black - Open-air case with a lot of cooling opportunities. What is not to love here? Cooling: (See Silcence! paragraph above please) 4x 140x140 Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-2000 PWM 4x 120x120 Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-24V-2000 Q100 IP67 PWM I assume I will need something like a fun hub / splitter cable, right? I am not really sure what to get though Lastly, I want to thank everyone in the community who decided to help me now as well as all of those who helped me with the PC builds in the past. I love the LTT forum ^,=,^ you guys are awesome!
  4. This is a brand new PC. I'm planning on taking it to college so I would like for a smaller footprint. I also prefer NVIDIA gpus for reasons below. This might be an unpopular opinion but I dislike too much RGB, but its fine if its only a little. Otherwise, I also don't care how it looks that much. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/hpfrogs/saved/gGG4gs 1. Budget & Location I prefer $1300 but I can go up to $1350 for the pc with peripherals. I would also prefer lower than the stated amount if the performance gain isn't that much for the price difference. Country is the US. 2. Aim I know I will play Minecraft normal and RTX. I also want to play Hogwarts Legacy. Baldur's Gate 3 as well. I am exploring games like civ and some indie games so I want those to preform well too. I also want to do some machine learning work on my GPU on the side (which is why I prefer NVIDIA) but thats not a main priority. I might do some programming on it too but thats also not a main priority. 3. Monitors 1 monitor 1440p but I don't have one yet so I would like help picking one. 4. Peripherals As I said I want a monitor but I also want a good but budget keyboard. I already have a mouse. I have a windows install on an old dell (not using after the pc) so can I use that. EDIT: Many of you guys noticed I have two gpus on my list. That is because I was deciding between these two options at the time, not because I actually want two gpus. I just put the cheapest 3070ti and cheapest 4070 on my list.
  5. Hey guys so I've recently switched my mobo out on my gaming pc and the drivers for this mobos internet just don't seem to work. I don't know whats going on but i am including some pictures to give everyone an idea of my situation. I have gone to device manager to try and update drivers for network controller with the yellow caution exclamation point but it reads that it wasn't able to find the drivers for that device, from my knowledge tho the Realtek Gaming 2.5GbE Family Controller is the network controller right?IMG_9742.HEIC I saw somebody on here had a similar problem with the intel version of the mobo and someone told then to extract the file from its zip using 7-zip so I did so and it went smooth with the Bluetooth driver but I got 2 errors when I tried to do it with the wifi driver IMG_9738.HEICIMG_9739.HEIC. Context to these claims is located in the pictures. IMG_9740.HEICIMG_9741.HEIC
  6. Budget (including currency): 4,000.00$ Country: Puerto Rico Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: FPshooters, rpgs, you name it Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Yt6XJy This is my current selection. I wanted to hear people’s opinion on it before I pulled the trigger. I have been doing some research and came upon this list. Mind you I am aiming for something that will last me at least for 6-7 years before spending another 1K on it. I am also interested in CableMods for it but I cannot figure out exactly what cables I might need. Appreciate any comments and opinions. Have a lovely day. Dio

  8. Budget (including currency): 1100 EUR Country: Germany. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: WRC and Dirt Rally is my main area of interest. But I would like play other games like Cyberpunk, CS GO also if my upcoming PC have the ability to so. Other workloads will be day to day activities like YouTube, watch football (Soccer) and other live streaming (WAN show mainly ). Also I'd like to do some streaming in twitch, I have an inactive account (but again if the PC have the ability for this) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So a colleague of mine, racing games enthusiast is upgrading to a proper racing sim setup ( PC alone is 2000+ EUR) so he gave me an offer that if want, I could get his 2 year old gaming pc with all peripherals. I will try to list the components here: 2 Monitors - MSI MSI Optix G24C4 Curved 23,6 Zoll Full-HD Gaming Monitor (144 hz) - iiyama G-Master Black Hawk GE2288HS-B1 54.7 cm (21.5 Inch) PC - Motherboard is MSI 550BP Gaming plus. - CPU is Ryzen7 3700X. - Graphics Card is AMD 5700XT Gygabite Aorus 8gb DDR6. - RAM is 32gb G-SKILL 4x8gb. - 2x SSD (1x M2. and the other one is normal SSD no HDD) 500GB each. - Power unit is LUX gold plus 750W. Racing Accessors - Thrustmaster TX racing wheel with force feedback (Don't know the actual model, its with Ferrari logo and paddle shifter) - Thrustmaster T3PA Triple Pedal Sets all the above mentioned components was offered for me at a price of 750 EUR. additional to this i'm planning to buy one additional MSI MSI Optix G24C4 Curved 23,6 Zoll Full-HD Gaming Monitor (144 hz) costs 139 EUR in black friday deal. which brings a total of 889 EUR. In the remaining budget I want to buy a keyboard and mouse, and a headset with mic. Also would like to know If its a worth deal considering I'm really new to PC gaming? What possible upgrades can I do in future to this existing setup? Is this machine good enough for WRC and other racing games as well as streaming? Thanks in advance for your responses
  9. Budget (including currency): £2500-3000 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Cities Skylines 2, F12023, World of Tanks, Adobe Premier, Adobe Photoshop Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Couple years ago, I built myself a high end PC which includes Ryzen 9 5950X, ASUS STRIX 3080ti, G-SKILL 64gb DDR4 2 x 32 3600. And minor things like a asus strix b550 MB and a 1TB Samsung 970 NVME and A Samsung 870 evo SSD 2TB. So basically, I am over this winter gonna be building the most top end PC I can have currently and something that be more than enough for like the next 3-5 years. 4K Gaming 144hz currrently but may upgrade monitor to like a 2 or 3 screen set up with same or better refresh rate but that is a nice to have in the future and not part of my budget. I am using the storage and PSU (Corsair HX1200 Platinum 1200 W 80+ Platinum) from my current set up Below gonna attach screenshots of my build specs on PC Part Picker currently it around £3100 but got that little flex around budget wise. Simply put is the following build specs CPU: Intel 14900KF CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE H170i ELITE CAPELLIX Liquid CPU Cooler 420MM MB: MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Dominator Titanium 96 GB (4 x 24 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory Additional Storage: Western Digital Black SN850X 4TB NVME SSD (Just looking for a little extra storage until I can sort out a NAS as looking for around 10TB of Back Up Storage seperate to PC along with sotring my stuff in the cloud) GPU: XFX Speedster MERC 310 Black Edition Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB (Like Linus, I avoiding Nvidia 40 series just because of how Nvdiai is etc.... Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL ATX Full Tower Case Fans: 3 sets of Lian Li Uni Fan SL 70.5 CFM 140 mm Fans 2-Pack Because this case can support upto 11 fans (8 exlcuding the 420mm AIO) The AIO Going on top then 6 140mm Fans for bottom and the top/side Along with the same type of fan but a 120mm for the back of the case. Ideally I like this build to have RGB, want something that gonna be solid for the forseable future and handle any games and just be a beast. Want the PC to have really good airflow and with the AIO, I want to have no issues with thermals. I am unsure on the RAM as it DDR5 and I am new to Intel as a whole, so advice is appreciated. Also look advice on any additional connectors I need to ensure everything from the fans to the case is all hooked up. I am relatviely good at cable management and will likely spend hours to ensure everything is all nice and tidy, that little OCD I got with things. 11. Budget (including currency): 100,000 NPR (850 USD) Country: Nepal Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: My friend wants to build a PC. He wants to play some fps shooter games like Valorant, warzone and maybe EA Fc 24. He also wants to learn video editing in the future. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Budget includes PC only. He wants smooth gameplay for his games. He wants ig 1080p resolution.
  12. Is pc sudden shutdown or powerloss(loadshedding) can harm my pc? please tell me!! im not using a ups!!
  13. So today I changed the aio as my old one stopped working properly but with my old one it still posted but it would just overheat like crazy since the aio was messed up from a power outage and so I put a new one on and now it won’t post. The new aio fans still turn on and the rgbs of the fans work but I can’t get a signal to my monitor. The dram and cpu debug lights are on. Didn’t have those debug lights with my old messed up aio. Help??? Also I already tried clearing cmos and used different ram slots and tried using single ram slots. Haven’t tried using my old aio to see if it still would post bc I don’t want to do the whole aio changing process again
  14. Hey guys, so today I was playing COD MW2 on my pc and I had a sudden power outage and the power came back on right away so I turn my pc back on and it seems fine booting up until like 10 seconds after booting up my PC fans go crazy fast and I get a red error on my CPU’s lcd header (Corsair Elite capelix w/ lcd upgrade kit on it) (pictures of the error provided). So my fans are going crazy and it shows my cpu temps going high in the Corsair app. How did fix this??? my main pc components: Rtx4080, ryzen 9 7950x, msi x670e tomahawk motherboard Thanks!
  15. I have an old Hp Elitebook 840 G5, it has a Thunderbolt port and a docking port. My desktop/gaming pc has a thunderbolt (and output hdmi port) Can I somehow connect my desktop to my laptop and use the laptop as a display? (I know the laptop hdmi port is an Output port only, but what about the thunderbolt port?) Also would it be possible to do the same except using the laptop as a display for my Xbox Series S
  16. Budget (including currency): 1,800USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:(Data science major) Excel,R studio, Jet Brains Suite, Rainbow Six siege, racing games, AAA titles, eventually want to try vr games! Information on the build itself- I'm switching from mac to windows and everything will be fresh. To begin as far as part prefrences I would like to keep the same "quality" or Industrial rigidiy that i experienced at apple. Im not to big on RGB but I do appricate white lights on black. Im going for a more industrial look and feel. I want to use this desktop as my main computer for everything. As for peripherals, I'm leaning towards Logitech because they are familiar from the mac world and they've never done me wrong. For monitors I got the COSTCO special 2 years ago {Msi 27in 1080p 175hz monitor} and I don't mind 1080p gaming since I've been only used to XBOX all my life. Ive attached a screenshot of my part list from pc part picker.

  18. So this started when I first built the computer about a month or so ago give or take. I could be doing anything to basic web browser navigation, system navigation, or gaming. Literally could be doing anything. After about 5-10 minutes Any applications that are open such as google chrome, discord, and basically everything else. I can still highlight desktop icons and I can get ctrl+alt+del to work once to open task manage then it its frozen. Task bar is frozen as well. Eventually leading to nothing working over a matter of a minute. I did memory test and stress test to see if I could trigger it and nadda. It just happens within that time frame. It stopped for a few weeks and had just started again. I thought disabling integrated graphics would solve the issue because it stopped as soon as I did disable it, apparently not. It's still disabled Expo/XMP has been test disabled and enabled. Currently sitting in safe mode to see if it happens again. I read through a post revolving around an NZXT issue but I don't use that software/products. Windows 10 Up to date MSI B650 Tomahawk WIFI BIOS Up to date AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor Up to date MSI SUPRIM 4070TI Up to date MSI MAG A750G PSU 32GB DDR5 RAM WD BLACK m.2 500TB boot drive WD BLACK m.2 1TB x2 Lian Li 360 AIO 10x Lian Li Inf Fans Nothing to note in windows event info regarding crashing. Any help would be great thank you! P.S this took me 10 minutes to type in safe mode and nothing has froze yet.
  19. Budget (including currency): 1.500 - 2.000 EUR. There is a bit of leeway in my budget if I can get a better value by spending a little bit more. Country: Netherlands Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: MAIN: Design and program lighting show with MA software and WYSIWYG (both in live 3D). OFF-TIME: Gaming 1440P RT - Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon, Starfield, Factorio etc. SPARSLY: Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop Current system (in short): Z68 board, 3770K, GTX 1060 6GB, 32GB RAM and a 550W PSU Hi everyone, My current system is old and sometimes unable to run certain programs. The current system consists of a up to now it works fine but……. It will be my first build from scratch, I did part replacement/ upgrades but never from scratch. So I would like some help to create a working/ balanced system. I want to replace my current system and find a different use case for the other components (maybe create a computer for our media cabinet or something). This new system has to be futureproof, upgradable and (because fun) has to look good. Down the line I would like to upgrade further but for know my budget is a bit lacking, so I made a (I think and hope) balanced build. For now I am would like to reuse my PSU and case (Case 4000D airflow, PSU TX550M both Corsair), unless there is a good reason not to do so. These are the components I am looking at: [1.897 EUR] CPU: Intel Core i5 13600KF [310 EUR] CPU cooler: DeepCool AS500 PLUS [71 EUR] GPU: Aorus GeForce RTX4060 Ti ELITE 8GB [499 EUR] Motherboard: Asus TUF gaming Z790-PLUS WIFI [259 EUR] Memory: Kingston Fury Beast RGB KF556C36BBEAK2-32 [131 EUR] Storage: Crucial P5 Plus 2TB (3x 121 EUR = 363 EUR] Cage: (already have): Corsair 4000D airflow [0 EUR] PSU: (already have): Corsair TX550M [0 EUR] Fans: Arctic P12 PWM PST A-RGB (3-pack) [45 EUR] OS: Windows 11 Pro retail [219 EUR] I would like to run my storage in RAID 5 for faster read times (for use with MA and WYSIWYG in live 3D) while also being reliable storage. For the OS I would like to use windows 11 Pro, mainly because of the BitLocker feature to be able to use my computer for my business. Because I am using my computer for business, there will be customer information on my computer. Our law states that we have to protect this information and BitLocker is considered adequate enough to "protect" the computer itself. In the future I am going to upgrade the GPU (and therefore the PSU) and maybe the CPU but for now I think this will suffice. Help and advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Bert

  23. Hi there guys! Lately, I thought about building computers and selling them with a profit. Firstly, I would like to ask you guys about if you know what's the best way of finding parts and deals in the UK? I know that ebay and gumtree is a great way finding these sorts of things. Any recommendations? Any of you had past experience in these things? *** If a placed this post in the wrong section I apologise***
  24. Budget (including currency): $2600 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming and school work Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Nvidia GPU will be needed as I will need to use solidworks The GPU is at that set price because I purchased it at that price already https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MKk9hk
  25. Budget (including currency): $600 - $700 USD Country: United States Games: Pavlov, Onward, VRChat, several other VR games with a Quest 2, Squad, Arma 3, Destiny 2, Cyberpunk, Jedi Survivor Other details: Currently using a laptop with a 3080 and 10750H as my daily driver (Aorus 15P I think). My old desktop has as GTX 1660 Super and 3600x. The games I typically play aren't extremely demanding other than some of the VR titles I play, although I would like something that will give me a consistently smooth experience for both flatscreen and VR games. I'll be pairing this new GPU with an i7-13700K with 32gb DDR5 (I'll be getting the Microcenter Bundle). So far I've considered the following GPUs: RTX 3070 RTX 4070 RX 6900xt RTX 3080ti I've looked at several benchmarks comparing each of these cards against one another and I can't come to a decision on what would be the best value for my money at 1440p. I strongly considered the 6900xt because of how much better it performs against the 4070 at the same price, but I feel like I'd be missing out on DLSS 3 and better ray tracing. I've also used Nvidia cards for years and I'm kind of scared to go red team since I use shadow play a lot, and I know some games tend to favor green team more. I also considered the 30-series GPUs because of how cheap they are used nowadays and how easy they are to get, especially since most of the games I play aren't all AAA titles. TL;DR: I'm unsure what GPU is a good value in 2023 and I need people to tell me how to spend my money.
