I have an astro c40 which I use regularly to play fortnite. I play on a laptop hooked up to a 240hz monitor. When moving my right stick it feels slow and sluggish. My grip is affected and I can barely hold the controller properly. I also have to giggle my stick with excessive force just to make quick movements in-game. An example is editing a build piece quickly. It makes my editing and aim inconsistent. At times, I leave my game for a while, then I come back, it feels a lot more responsive for a couple of minutes (less than 5 minutes) then returns. My Specs Laptop Name : Asus ROG Zephyrus M15 GU502LW-BI7N6 CPU: Intel Core i7-10750H (Comet Lake-H) GPU : Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Max Q RAM : 16GB DDR4 Motherboard/Laptop Model: Zephyrus GU502LW-BI7N6 Storage: 1TB SSD Refresh rate: 240hz Operating System: Windows 10 (Ghost Spectre Superlite) External Monitor : Acer Nitro XV1 Series-XV271 (240hz monitor) Controller : Astro C40 Tournament Ready Pro Controller Reinstalled Windows (both base Windows and Ghost Spectre) Reinstalled Graphics drivers (Used DDU for uninstalling) Changed in -game sensitivity and deadzone. As well as adjusting the stick curve through the astro configuration application. used the appropriate Nvidia control panel settings Switched to LAN Used Bitsum Highest Performance Power Plan for less latency Done all performance and gaming related 'tweaks' (registry tweaks, Using process lasso, etc)

I am looking to buy a new laptop currently looking at Zephyrus G15(2022) Ryzen 6800HS RTX3060 16GB RAM 1TB SSD WQHD 165Hz . Reading that it has some heating issues , Keyboard issues and Performance issue. Is this the best at this price range or can someone suggest other options ? Is the Legion 5 (2021) with Ryzen 5800H 3060 16GB WQHD 165Hz a good alternative ? This is also a bit cheaper.

Man, just like Linus has said countless times, trying to research and buy a gaming laptop is one of the most convoluted and frustrating things out there in tech. I'm trying to buy a laptop for college and some decent gaming, I'm not trying to play Crisis or Microsoft Flight Simulator, but I'd like something decent. Right now, the specs I'm looking for is: 16gb DDR4 or better A decent quad of hex core CPU that allows me to run simulators or intese calculations (I'm an enginering student) A 2070 or better (for a bit of future proofing, I don't want some 1650 or something) Decent battery life so it can last a few classes I don't need crazy storage because I already have an SSD I'll just throw in I don't really care about the display, though 75hz or above wouldn't be bad I've been looking just about everywhere, and I cant find anything under $ 1,000 which i know seems optimistic, but I feel like these requirements aren't too crazy, I'm not even asking for DDR5 or a 4000 series gpu. I'm paranoid about over paying for a name brand rather than a quality product. Maybe I'm way left field here, and I know I'm not the first or the last person to complain about this, but man, buying a laptop is such a pain.

Hello, everyone. I'm suggesting a theoretical way to enhance the performance of gaming laptops that do not support Optimus. I got inspired when I saw a video on YouTube where a person repurposed an old laptop screen and connected it to a laptop via the HDMI port. We know that we can bypass Optimus when we connect an external screen via the HDMI port or sometimes the USB Type-C port. The theory is, since we can connect a laptop monitor using HDMI, why not connect the existing laptop screen to the HDMI port? It's like creating our own version of Optimus without the need for another screen. In theory, this could potentially provide a 10% to 20% boost in gaming performance. I don't possess the necessary skills to carry out this project, but I believe someone can. Perhaps adding a physical switch would be a good idea to activate this feature. Does anyone have any ideas or further insights regarding this theory?

I have a Gigabyte Aorus 15G XB (i7-10875H, RTX 2070 Super with Max-Q Design) I bought it about 8-9 months ago, and am facing a serious overheating issue. As soon as I plug the laptop in, the temperatures rise to above 75 degrees C sometimes. I have attached a screenshot of HWINFO64 readings. The task manager says below 10% CPU usage and about 30% Memory usage. I am not running any games, just chrome, discord and some IDE's like Visual Studio Code and IntelliJ. I have run avast antivirus to check for viruses, and it found nothing, the windows power troubleshooter gives nothing. I have reset windows once (deleting all files) but this didn't fix the problem. Could anybody help me in diagnosing this issue.

I'm a soon to be college student and I'm in the process of looking for a high powered laptop for my computer related degree as well as some gaming on the side. I have a budget of up to around 1500 USD and as the title suggests, I would like something with a 2070 GPU or better for the sake of retaining some long term support. In addition, higher core count on the CPU for the propose of virtualization is valuable. I'm not attached to either AMD or Intel(I know that Intel is a lot more common on these systems). In regards to the display, high refresh rate over high resolution is best with no special interest in color accuracy(I'm not doing creative work or anything). If you think my money would be wasted on these kinds of specs, go right ahead and tell me along with a suggestion for another computer. All suggestions are valued. Please be nice, this is my first post on ltt's forums.

Good day everyone! I'm planning to buy a laptop from Amazon and picked 2 of these as choices.... I need help from you guys to clear me out of this dilemma in picking the best one... These are the laptops I picked: HP Pavilion Gaming 15.6-inch FHD Gaming Laptop (Ryzen 5-3550H/8GB/1TB HDD/Windows 10/NVIDIA GTX 1650 4GB/Shadow Black), 15-ec0101AX ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT 15.6-inch FHD Laptop, Ryzen 5 3550H, GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5 Graphics (8GB RAM/1TB HDD/Windows 10/Stealth Black/2.20 Kg), FX505DT-BQ151T The specs that are same: - CPU - Ryzen 5-3550H - GPU - GTX1650 4GB - RAM - 8GB 2400MHz (1x8GB) - DISPLAY - 15.6 inches 1080p - DISPLAY TYPE - LED - HDD - 1TB 5400RPM SATA - BATTERY - 3 Cell Li-Ion - OS - Windows 10 Home Basic (Lifetime validity) - WARRANTY - 1 year The specs that are confusing: (Please explain these) DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY: - HP: Diagonal Full HD IPS anti-glare micro-edge WLED-backlit, 250 nits, 45 Percentage NTSC Display - ASUS: Full HD LED Backlit Anti-Glare IPS Display As for service availability I have both of the brand's authorized service centers so that isn't an issue. Hi guys, my GF has this laptop Acer Nitro 5 an515-43. Its and AMD model with nVidia graphics chip. She asked me if i can make is faster. Everything takes few seconds, sometimes minutes to open. Im talking MS word for example taking 2 minutes to fully open. Games were running slow too. When i looked into task manager i saw Avast taking up most of the resources. The disk was always at 100% (thats not normal, right?). I uninstalled Avast Antivirus and removed some apps from running at the startup. This helped a little but not enough. So i tried installing PopOS (GF is ok with that. She mostly just plays Minecraft and does office stuff). Its better but i think the performance should be somewhere else. Minecraft is playable with 4chunks of render distance, Warthunder on Medium settings. I saw videos of people playing GTA V. I cant imagine her laptop running so well. The wait for the apps to open is the most annoying. Is there anything i can do to fix that??? She said i can do anything except opening it (says that would void the warranty). Thank you for reading.

Hi all. I will leaving for college soon and think I won't be taking my PC with me. So I decided on a gaming laptop (bummer I know) for all my computing needs for the next 5 years. Here are the two options. Both come with a 7700HQ and 16GB of DDR4 memory. XPS 15 with a 1050 4GB, 4K touch screen with 1TB PCIE = $2250 VS New Blade with a 1060 6GB , 4K screen with 512GB PCIE = $2400 I think it boils down to the difference between the 1060 and 1050. I only play a few games such as Overwatch, Battlefield 1, Witcher 3, Doom, GTA V, MINECRAFT, Uncharted 4 and Gears of War 4. With the XPS, I do get the 512Gb extra with the touch screen while keeping $150 as change. The Blade would get me the 1060, but less storage and big bezels + no touch screen. The touch screen isn't really a must. What would you do? Is the difference between the 1060 and 1050 so severe to sacrifice the 512Gb, $150 and touch screen? Thanks in advance.

Ideally I would like it to be new and in red/black

So I need to buy a new laptop for video editing for my job.. I edit in Adobe Premiere and also Resolve. I am looking at laptops with RTX 2060, 2070, 2070 Max Q and 2080 Max Q. From my understanding, RTX 2060 is better than 2070 Max Q and too close to 2080 Max Q for the price difference. Than RTX 2070 is about 20% faster than RTX 2060. The processor is either I7-9750H or I7-8750H which from tests I've seen is only 6-8% faster speeds in upgrade. I am looking at: Razer Blade 15 with GTX 2060 and I7-8750 for around $1,900 + Tax Asus Zephyrus S GX701 with GTX 2070 and I7-9750H for $2,500 + Tax (20% Faster?) Asus Scar 2 with GTX 2070 and I7-8750 for $1,950 + Tax I am leaning towards Razer Blade just because of the form factor and economics but if the Asus ones is a better choice I may change my mind. Razer is also coming out with a new line I believe with 2060+9750 in the next few months for $2,000 and Asus is also releasing the scar 3 with 2070 +9750 for $2,300/2,400 later this month. Any tips or advise is appreciated! I am losing my mind doing research before I buy..

I am looking forward to buying a laptop and I am in a bit of confusion which laptop to buy as they have the same specifications but a price difference of $300 and the only major difference that I could spot is that Alienware has a 144Hz display and G7 has 60Hz display.

Hello, I have had my Dell G5 (2018) for more than 6 months now. During that time there have been some concerns and problems that pop up, as well as my solutions for them. Does anyone have the same problems? how did you fix it? 1. Broken audio driver. Sometimes the audio just wouldn't switch between the built-in speakers and wired-headphone, it would just stay with whatever connected on launch. The problem seems to be fixed on the latest 'Realtek(R) Audio' driver. Also, you can switch to the Microsoft built-in driver if necessary. 2. The ports do not sit properly on the frame. That means any pressure on these ports will affect the motherboard itself. My headphone jack, for example, will make an audible click when I put some pressure on it. This is a hardware problem, so there is no fix unless you are willing to take the laptop apart. 3. Screen support. The lid is made of plastic, which plex as you open and close it. At first, it seems completely fine, but over time it affects the screen's defusion layer and creates areas of abnormal brightness on the screen. These areas are most visible on a white background. The LCD and backlight work fine, and I confirmed that this is due to the lid by swapping out the screen (3 times), and after a month the problem would return.

Hi, I am wanting to buy a gaming laptop in the range of GB£800 (US$1000). My only requirements are that it's a 60Hz 1080p screen and it's thin-and-light. Could you please point me in the direction of the best laptop in this price range that meets those 2? A good battery life would of course be a top priority, and anything else goes. Thank you!

Hi there, I am hoping to buy a not so bulky with a decent (4 hours of non gaming) battery life to watch movies, and maybe do some of my office code development on it (nothing too demanding). Which can play all games at good fps. Wont be streaming or having multiple windows open when running the games. I am really confused between razor 15, msi gs65 and Asus gaming rigs. Also I feel am I overspending with my requirements? Should I wait for the 2019 laptops to come out? Really been confused since its my first big investment from my pay! Budget under 1500 USD. Can stretch to 2000 USD (Only if its really worth it). Thanks for all the recommendations!
