audio quality Sound Quality is the total opposite on 2 difrent PC'S
rogerthat2k4 posted a topic in Audio
Hi my name is Roger, and I've got a question about a new Gaming Headset I bought recently. So about 2 days ago my new Logitech G Pro X Wireless arrived and I ofcourse tested it right away. I first tried music which sounded fine didn't notice any problems very enjoyable. then after I tried games and the first one I tried was VALORANT and right away when I was in the lobby I already was hearing a massive difference but not in a good way the audio was 1. very bassy and 2. not very clear, it sounded very quiet to say the least I find it hard to describe but it was for sure not normal I thought. then after I went into a game of deathmatch and once again noticed a big difference but not in a good way, it sounded very bad like shit quality it was very bassy again which made it hard to keep a lot of sounds apart. and compared to my old headset it was certainly not good quality compared to my new one which is the one I have now. before this headset I owned a Hyper X Cloud Flight and it was an amazing headset for the time I had it. So back to the point. I went to a friend today to let him test my headset for quality of sound and how they fit him on the head. and before hand I told him the audio was very bad in my opinion significantly worse compared to my old one and he found that weird because it is such a good headset + its very pricy. So with me telling him that he tested it out and he told me it was not that bad so I was like let me try it. and it indeed did not sound bad it sounded clear and not bassy at all like I experienced it on my PC it was the quality I would expect from a headset like this. so I was wondering why is that a thing it sounds garbage on my PC but on his it sounds so good and sounds how its supposed to. And now im here wondering why my 200$ headset has completely difrent quality on 2 difrent PC's. i hope some one is able to help me because this sure is not worth 200$ if I'm not able to fix it As some background information. I do not have any Equalizers installed or weird settings on. Just default windows 10 sound settings. and this is the same for my friend no weird settings turned on at all. Again I hope some one knows why this is happening because its very weird to me that this is possible, that the sound quality is so far apart on 2 difrent PC's that are not that difrent. Best regards Roger. PS. Sorry if my spelling is not to good English is not my native language I tried my best- 7 replies

Hello all, I'm looking for a good pair of wireless gaming headphones with a mic for my brother. He saw a pair of wireless HyperX Cloud 2 wireless headphones for £148 (on Amazon, no discount) and I'm just looking around for wireless headphones that are better for a similar price. He currently has a wired HyperX Cloud 2 and is pretty happy with that, but it is beginning to wear out and he would like a bit more freedom of movement. Any suggestions? I'm open suggestions a little outside of the price range but closer to £150 ($200) would be better. I'd also like a bit of info on the quality, durability, microphone quality, signal reliability and signal range if that is possible. Not exactly looking for audiophile, just all round solid pair of headphones/headset with a good mic. Note that the USD prices I've given are just currency conversions and not based on US prices of similar products for anyone in the US/Canada who might want to chip in. I've had a wireless headphone in the past (more budget than this) and it was were fairly tinny and crackled/whistled a bit, so I'm also up for some wired alternatives for my brother if they are significantly better for the price in most areas (but the main focus is wireless). Cheers, Melonize

Hi there, Can the Roccat Syn Pro cause 2.4ghz wireless interference with it's "Stellar Wireless" just like most normal ghz technology in close proximity with other tech? In other words can it cause interference with Routers and Ethernets? *EDIT* I should also ask that can I use Surround Sound on PS4/5 and Nintendo Switch via adapter after setting it to Surround Sound via the software on PC or will it be Stereo? I heard it is possible to use this Headset on Consoles (Albeit with limited functionality) even if not advertised and I know unfourtunately Xbox doesn't support USB Headsets both wired & wireless so I will just use my SHP 9500 + V-Moda Boompro for that platform.

I am in a very tight budget and there are a lot of dirt cheap gaming headset on sale on my local marketplace and i got 3 option -HyperX Cloud (For $30-$35) -HyperX Stinger (For $20-$25) -Steelseries Siberia 200 (For $10-$15) I once used a HyperX Cloud and i love the build quality and the sounds but for my option which is "USED", all of em are in a horrible condition like the headband and earcup is worn out and peeled out. The other 2 tho, are fine. I am really attracted to the Siberia 200 despite of its horrible mic quality but hey, its $15. So what do you guys think?

Hi LTT, Recently I have become less than satisfied with my Logitech G533 headset. Uncomfortable after longer sessions (even after replacing the earpads with better ones), and the lack of ANC are 2 of my biggest problems. This has me switching to my "mobile" headset half the time, but since that one is only Bluetooth, it's not the greatest for gaming on my desktop. Therefore, since the G533 is probably the weakest point in my peripheral setup, I decided to look for a no compromises replacement. However, finding what I'm looking for is a challenge, so I want to know if what I'd like to use even exists. See requirements details below: Connectivity: Must be wireless via 2.4 ghz or its own dongle. Bluetooth option would be nice, as would 3.5mm jack, but since the primary use case is connected to the gaming tower, this is the way. Battery Life: 20 hours. I have to get at least a day and then some if I forget to charge it overnight. I don't mind turning off RGB lighting to get this. I prefer USB-C charging and don't have space for a dock, but I can suffer with micro-B Microphone: has to have once, has to be at least decent, as I will stream voice with this headset. I prefer folding boom (the auto-mute for the Logitech G533 is really nice, but I'll take a mute button as well) Sound Quality: I'm no audiophile, but I don't want this to be garbage either. This can be in the "good enough" territory ANC: I need active noise cancellation. This the feature that I'm trying to find on a headset, and my G533 lets in too much outside sound. Media Controls: Needs to at least have volume and a way to mute on the headset itself. I would very much like play/pause and skip track as well, but ultimately it wouldn't be a deal breaker if they weren't there. Build: Obviously these need to be over-ear, decently well built, and comfortable. I don't plan on throwing them during an RQ or traveling with the, but durability (and foldability) are certainly a bonus. Brand: Not really picky at this point. I've used Plantronics, Corsair, and Logitech all in the past. Price: I really don't care here. This is a no-compromises, daily-driver, not-buy-another-headset-for-at-least-5-years type of decision. If it has this feature set and costs +$500, I'll save for it. Thank you in advance! Let me know if you all have questions or if I missed something. Looking forward to your recommendations. Options looked at so far: Logitech's Pro X is close, but is missing the ANC. Also limited on controls and connectivity options, and I'm not the biggest fan of the detachable mic (prefer folding or integrated) HyperX Cloud Flight S is also close, but I'm not sure about the build quality (never used them). Again, I'm not the biggest fan of the detachable mic (prefer folding or integrated). Also out of stock RIP

Dear members of LTT, Its now getting closer to the death of my Astro A50 Ive used on my pc for a few years and im then looking to upgrade. - Use: Something I can use in shooters to get crisp clear sound Listning to music (tbh the thing over is more important as I listen to music from so many things during the day that the music QL doesnt rly matter anymore) - Pricepoint: I havent set a price but think maximum would be around 250usd ish mark. - Microphone: I know that standalone mics are MUCH better than those built into headset, so im open for that but I dont/cant have a huge fucking thing infront of my face. I do have LOUD mechanical keyboard so it have to avoid picking up every keystroke (luckily you also got some good AI noice cancelation in discord (main use case)) Appreciate the tips you folks give and have a great december ^^

What makes good audio in headphones for gaming and music For some time I’ve been interested in audio because I really wanted to step up my audio game. The main reason why is because I had my old Logitech G633 that were falling apart and were uncomfortable. So I decided to look at better quality “gaming” headsets. Then I discovered some people saying that they were bad and not the same as studio or audiophile headphones with a separate mic. I was like -What? I need 7.1 virtual surround. Nope turns out I don’t. The imaging and soundstage is what matters in gaming. The imaging is where the headphones pin-point the sound so I can locate it in-game or in music. The soundstage is much greater on headphones that are open back. Which means they leak sound. This is great because it gives a feeling of being in a room with 2 speakers. But in reality, you just have really good headphones. Unlike gaming headsets with badly implemented 7.1 surround and bad quality parts. Some headsets claim to be true 7.1 surround sound headsets. But they just have small drivers which try to simulate 7.1 but it doesn’t work. It is too close to your ear and the driver will produce a much weaker sound than a big driver instead of multiple small ones. They focus on the wrong part of the headphone. The design and RGB and “true” surround sound are really unnecessary and the mic is just horrendous. So I bought the DT 990 pros because they were recommended for gaming and music. Let me tell you, the difference was insane between my old creaky plasticy G633’s. The difference between the G633’s and the DT 990’s were the muddy bass and not a clear sounding headphone to a clear and punchy bass with great imaging. The thing is. I wasn’t even powering them off a good amp. I had them on my onboard. So I decided again to step up my audio game and I bought a soundcard. The Sound Blaster AE-9 which is around 300 dollars. This was a more “premium” amp/DAC combo which I wanted because if I would buy something I wanted to buy something that’d last and sound great. And turns out that I was underpowering my DT 990 pros by a lot. All the frequencies just revealed themselves. I couldn’t be happier with my purchases so far. The DT 990 pros are really popular for gaming for 3 reasons. Really good soundstage, imaging is better than some sennheiser headphones and the sound signature is perfect, with increased bass and treble but still retain mids good. Bass is not overpowered but punchy. One thing you don't wanna do with the 990's is to drive them off a cheap mobo or just any mobo amp because you wont get the full bass and treble to stick out. This is not needed tho. There are headphones out there easier to drive. Such as the Cooler Master MH751, HyperX cloud 2, HD500 series, M40X, DT 770 pro 32ohm, HD58X, I am just mentioning some headphones. You can drive these off an amp/DAC as well but that is if you want a better audio experience and less risk of interference. There are other headphone amps/DAC combos for a much lower price that enhance your audio far better than anything else. For example: Sound Blaster G6 Ifi zen DAC Sound Blaster Omni Fiio E10K Sound Blaster X3 Schiit Fulla This is just a little post to tell people that audio should not be forgotten when buying stuff for your PC. Why do so many spend thousands on getting good monitors, mice, keyboards but forget about audio. Then instead you buy these mediocre sounding gaming headsets with RGB on your head with, most of the time, a bad mic. As for the mic you can get, for example: Blue Snowball Antlion Modmic 4 uni Vmoda boom pro (Requires a detachable headphone cable) Strongly recommend the SHP9500 with this mic. All of these will sound so much better than almost any gaming headsets on the market. With the exception of the Cloud 2's and MH751's because they are a reskin of studio monitors. Here are some links to videos/post that I find interesting for people that wants to get good headphones, or maybe should. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/5hvy0j/do_not_buy_gaming_headsets_why_youre_wasting_your/ Also I am not making this post to force people to buy what I think they should. These are recommendations and just experience from many including myself. So stop spending 300 dollars on RGB gaming headsets and invest in good shit instead.

Hi all, I am looking to buy a new gaming headset for someone and the budget is anything under $250. It needs to be compatible with PC at minimum but if it is compatible with PS5 and Xbox also that would be nice. I would prefer wireless, but wired is also okay as long as it is a nice headset. Sound quality is definitely the first priority over anything else. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated

I have just never had luck with headphones, either I get wired ones that end up with the classic having to be held at weird angles to work properly, or wireless I always run into the earpads not being replaceable and getting not the most comfortable to wear after a few months (this happens on wired too though). So as i'M onto my 4th headphone purchase in the past 3 years. I have found myself debating between 2 different pairs: The Astro A10s, and the AHT-M20X(BT). The Astro A10s were recommended to me by a friend because the wire and earpads can be replaced, thus meaning I could in theory replace either if it becomes a problem. The AHT-M20X I've also heard good things about, but obviously its not made for gaming, so would I need anything like software to get good "surround sound" in games? I'm aware that the "surround sound" on gaming headphones is mostly just the work of software. I have a dedicated mic so having a mic on the headset isn't a deal breaker for me. And the blue tooth variant of the AHT-M20Xs would allow me to use wireless when they are charged or wired if they aren't which also solves any battery life issues, I just don't know much about using them for gaming or if its even a good idea. Sorry for such a long post but I'm just looking for opinions as I'm sure there are people on here that know a lot more about this than me. Thanks

Hi, I've been really struggling to look for a headset that meets my needs within a reasonable price range. I am finding it surprisingly hard to find a good gaming headset that supports both wired and wireless audio as I like the convince of Wireless headsets but also like to use wired for long gaming sessions. Some of the headsets I have found so far are the Epos H3 Hybrid, which I don't particularly like as the battery is always in use, HyperX Cloud Mix, which is out of my price range and the Corsair Virtuoso which is also out of my price range. Does anyone know about any other good hybrid headsets they would recommend? TLDR: Mixed headsets are hard to find anyone know any?

Hello, I'm looking to buy a gaming headset. From what I have seen, the arctis pro looks like a good option. Does anyone have any experience with them, or would you recommend another headset? I'm not looking for headphones since I don't have a standalone mic, and I rather not have one sitting at my desk. The headset does not have to be wireless since I will probably only use them at my desk. Also, if I would get the arctis pro, is it recommended to get the DAC version? My budget for a headset is around €200. Thanks in advance!

I purchased the Sennheiser GSP 350 to replace my HyperX Cloud II a few months back when they were brand new (I sold the HyperXs because there were some things that I did not like about them preference wise) and I am a bit confused about how the Dolby 7.1 Virtual Surround works. In the Clouds, the 7.1 Surround Sound worked in any game no matter what, without configuration. The Sennheisers, however, seem to be different. I had to go into playback devices and set the "Sennheiser Speakers" to default device and the "Sennheiser Headset" to default communication device (as said in the directions booklet). Because of this, Windows volume does not control VOIP volume, and you have to go all the way into the "Sennheiser Headset" properties to change it "which is really annoying". While changing the volume with the analog volume control on the headset works, it is not convenient because it also changes the desktop volume. In addition, I don't quite understand why Sennheiser set the Virtual Surround to be controlled by Windows. Once again, I had to configure the "Sennheiser Speakers" for 7.1 Surround Sound because it detects them as a 7.1 speaker setup. As a result of this, the 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound only works in games that have a 7.1 Surround Sound option. So here is my final question- How do I configure it in games that have odd profiles? For example, Battlefield 1 has a surround sound option, however it also gives you the option to pick which types of speakers you are using (headphones, large speakers, small speakers). If I select the Surround with Headphones, there is noticeable echoing and odd positional awareness. Next, some games such as Depth that have a 7.1 Speaker configuration still have some odd distortion. I don't think that there is a problem with the headset or inline DAC, because there is no other issues with the headset whatsoever. In stereo mode they sound fantastic for music, movies, and casual games. I just don't understand the design choice of the sound card that is included. Am I doing something wrong? EDIT: I installed the software and configured the headset exactly as described in the manual. I even tried uninstalling the software, removing and updating the drivers, and forgetting the device, but got the same result.
