I'm interested in trying to develop a 3D mobile game as a hobby project. After some research, GDevelop seems to be an interesting choice since it doesn't require me to learn a new programming language (unlike, for example, Unity). Does anyone on this forum have any experience with GDevelop, is it easy-to-use? Do you actually have to pay the GDevelop subscription to distribute iOS games or can I use the free version and just upload the binary via Xcode to App Store Connect?

We're developing a short full-motion video (FMV) horror game mostly for fun as hobby project. The game blends live-action footage shot on 6K cameras and 3D animated environments, look up "At Dead of Night" to get an idea of the FMV-concept. The game will be available on PC/Mac, iPadOS and iOS (Android port coming later). For the PC/Mac version we're debating if it should be rendered as 4K (3840x2160) or 2K (2560x1440). It'll be rendered at 60 FPS regardless. I'm not gonna get too deep into the weeds about the project here, I just want to get a general idea about: Would you prefer a more computational intensive 4K version with a bigger download size, or a smaller and lighter 2K version?

Hi, so I'm making an new pc and I'm gona use it for indie game dev, and some casual low- mid level gaming. I have a limited budget tho. I am confused wether to get a i3 10th (10100f 4 core 8 thread) and a Quadro T600 (only available in budget) or wether i should get a 5600g and buy a GPU a year or 2 later. Also, pls don't waste your time suggesting the rtx 3050 bcz it's obviously not gonna sell for 250 or even less than 300 bucks. Thanks in advance.

So, after the release of M1 Pro/Max chips and recent benchmarks, Apple suddenly has a lot of raw power to support AAA games. How do you think Vulkan vs Metal competition is going to pan out? With the new chips, Apple got rid of their old bottlenecks in gaming which are; poor cooling and throttled Intel chips. Which I think was the main reason Apple was so behind with the game industry With M1 chips there is no heat related throttling and we have an absurd amount of GPU power. https://www.anandtech.com/show/17024/apple-m1-max-performance-review From what I understand, from now on, the only bottleneck in letting AAA title game devs adopting MacOS, is Apple itself. What do you think?

Budget (including currency): 600-700$ Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: game development, blender, csgo, valorant. So I'm just getting into game development, and I am looking to build a pc for the same. I'll be using unity game engine, a bit of blender, zbrush, premier pro, etc. But since the graphic card prices are extremely high rn, I am unable to get a good graphic card. So do you guys think I might get going with an i3 10100 for now and buy a graphic card later? And yes, before you guys spice up the wounds, the 3200g and 3400g are NOT IN STOCK. Any suggestions would help. Thank you.

I would highly prefer these: A good GPU, something around 3060 I would prefer AMD, but fine with Intel as well. A good screen, 15" would be enough. Looking for good color corrections. Semi-decent battery life. Something that doesn't have a "gaming" look. Budget: 2000$ Will be used for 3d modelling and game development alongside with my desktop computer. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Hi everyone my Chromebook stopped working this morning. I was looking for help finding a good, but cheap, laptop that can do game development as a replacement. I am currently a student so I don't have that much money. I am interested in game development so I am looking for a computer with a minimum of an i5 proccesor and like 8gb of ram. Any suggestions on a good laptop around 700 dollars? I was looking at the "MSI Katana GF66 11UC-453 15.6 Gaming Laptop" but I am not sure how good it is.

What are your other recommendations? NOTE: I didn't include the Keyboard/mouse and the monitors because there are so many cheap ones here in the Philippines. Budget (including currency): 1500€ Country: Slovakia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Unreal Engine, Blender, Adobe Creative Suite - character design, visualization, game development, content creation Other details (no existing parts, completely new build, also need a monitor, I am planning to buy in September or after new releases come out and maybe previous gens´ prices will drop a bit) Hello, I am planning to build a new PC for game development, character design, content creation. I will mainly use Unreal Engine, Blender and Adobe Creative Suite. There are no existing parts and I would also need a good monitor. My total budget is around 1 500 € I was previously planning on purchasing the parts in May-June, but as I read about the new releases coming in the second half of 2020, I was thinking I should wait till Fall. Reason n.1.: with the new generation of CPUs and GPUs coming, maybe the previous generation´s prices will drop, which would help as my budget is quite limited. n.2.: new parts might fit my needs better while at the same time remaining at a reasonable price I was thinking about the following: (the prices are a bit different in my country...something is cheaper, something is more expensive....) - note the price of the GPU and PSU did not even load... Hello, all! I'm a game developer living in the United States who is looking to upgrade my current system. Normally, I'd just go with my gut instincts on what I think is best for my workflow, however I have a few questions I feel like this community could help with. This is my first post so I apologize for any mistakes/lacking information. I'll do my best and will respond to any questions. My maximum budget is: $2,500. My workflow consists of the following: Unreal Engine 4, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. Games are not my primary concern as my current system has no issues with gaming. My main issue with my current build is: Shader Compile Times. Game Build Times. General Compile Times for Code. My Current System Specs Intel i7 7700K 16GB of 1200MHz Ram (AWFUL, I know.) Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080ti I use Unreal Engine 4 to create games and applications for professional clientele while also creating my own projects as such I require quite a lot of storage. I was quite certain upgrading from my current 7700K to the new R9 3900X would be enough of an upgrade for my workflow but I'm seeing some conflicting information from various benchmarking sites... as such I'd ask for honest opinions on this upgrade. I have a PCPartPicker list and would appreciate any input: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bb2KQq Again, I apologize if I've missed any helpful information and I thank you for your time! Hi, I'm planning on creating a puzzle/platformer game that has different controllable characters (press 1 for one char, press 2 for another, etc), but only uses the same movement control (WASD + Space for jumping). How can I approach this? Please take note I'll only be using Visual Studio XNA with Monogame (no other engines) Here's my current options: - creating the multiple characters as different objects and calling them upon press of the button - creating movement control as an object and use it for all of the characters on the Update stage Additional question: How do I make the camera movement smooth between transitions of the 2 characters?

I'm making a new build for gaming and game development. Right now i'm looking into the i7-7700k or the r7 1700. The r7 1700 seemes better for game development, and can be overclocked to get similar performance to a 1700x or 1800x. While the i7-7700k gets better gaming preformance. I was wondering which one everyone would reccomend, and thanks for the help.

So far I've built this on pcpartpicker: AMD Cheap Game Development Build New PC build. Intel/AMD Game Development PC (Alright tear this one apart too thanks for the help by the way) I'm trying really hard to keep it at least 100-50 CAD bellow 1000 for obvious shipping and tax rape. Please if you could suggest any changes below that be great. !.THANKS IN ADVANCE.! Hi all. I need a little help here. I'm planning on my build primarily for programming, game development (Unity3D, Blender), some use of Photoshop/Illustrator, and probably most of the time, gaming. Since I'm on a budget, I'm opting for G4600 and pairing it with GTX 1050 with 8gigs of RAM (ddr4 2133). My only concern is that, would the G4600 can accommodate all the things I stated above? Please suggest if you think otherwise. Thank you so much!

Hey, planning four computers for our company and I'm not sure if we should go for Home or Pro windows. Everyone else wants to go for Home since the price difference is pretty massive for us. I'm not sure I want to risk missing a useful feature though. We'll be mostly using Unity3D, Autodesk Maya, Photoshop, Visual Studio and SmartGit. Thanks for any replies.

Hello Everyone, There is probably already a topic similar to this one, but I've been doing my research for quite a bit now and I really can't find anything that would answer my question. So just to set the scene I'm currently using Lenovo Z50-70 with Intel i5-4210U @1.70Ghz Nvidia GeForce 840M 8GB RAM and Windows 10 on it. I've been using it for almost 2 years now and I can say it had decent performance everything you'd expect form around 700$ laptop (EU price so it's a bit more than the USA probably). Playing GTA V, Minecraft and PES 2017 was quite nice. But the main purpose for this laptop was Uni ad since I'm studying ICT engineering with specialization in the game and mobile app development I've com to the point where I definitely need something more. Basically, I'm considering to get MacBook Pro 13" with touch bar because it has better CPU's than the nontouch bar model but there are multiple CPU and RAM variants so I was wondering can someone help me a bit about that. Just to make it clear Windows Laptop is also an option but I'm currently aiming at Mac because of Unity3D and IOS development. Shortly I need help about the new laptop for Java programming in Eclipse, Unity3D, IOS development and some basic to intermediate video and photo editing. Budget would be around 2000 EUR (~2240.14 USD)

I'm checking my local KSL Classifieds (my equivalent to Craigslist) for used graphics cards deals. Anything can be better than the crappy Radeon HD 3000 graphics on my motherboard. I've narrowed it down to these three cards: GTX 770 for $100 R9 270x for $75 R7 265 (basically a R9 270) for $60 (Possibly a GTX 750 for $50) Which one of these cards would y'all recommend? I'm looking at doing light gaming (Minecraft and Openspades, no Crysis or Minesweeper here) and some game development (using a Unity-like engine). Keep in mind that I'm running Linux so it would be a little bit harder than usual to overclock any of these cards. Thanks for your feedback!

Hi, I am a games development student who is soon to be in Spain to study and I was wondering what would be my best options when it comes to a laptop. I am currently employed as Game Developer and am hoping to keep on some work when I am abroad for both money and experience. I work 2 jobs now so my budget would be in around £1,700 / £1,800 at a stretch but preferably less. I'd like a more portable laptop due to travel to uni and for the flights/trains/buses I'll be getting. I've been looking at the Dell XPS Range, Razer Blades and even the Alienware (But I know their battery may not be up for what I want) Just wondering what would be some advice on what may suit. Thanks
