I hope phones and tablets is the right section to ask this. Background: I am upgrading to a new phone soon and will have a Galaxy S9 with no current use. Instead of buying a task specific streaming device for $100 that will stop working in a year or 2 and be e-waste I wanna try and use the device I already have. My goal is to use my s9, taking advantage of samsung dex, for my unused tv. I use Netflix, Disney+, Crave, and on occasion Kodi. I have a dongle that is good for short uses but it heats up to a point I am not comfortable with using it for a long time like this. What I need: I am looking for dongle recommendations that would be good for this. This tv is only 1080p and 60hz, I have an air mouse with USB receiver for control, and power delivery through the dongle is needed. Also, because of extended use it needs to stay cool! Heating up is obviously a fire hazard. I thought this would be a good place to ask since there are probably a lot of people on here who have used dongles for different phone setups. Thanks everyone! tldr; looking for dongle for Galaxy S9, needs hdmi, usb a, power delivery, and safe during prolonged use.

Been like a day since I got my s9, was on a heavy Gaming session that got my phone hot, so afterwards I thought that "oh yeah this phone's waterproof" so put it in a room temperature mug of water vertically with water level just covering the top of the phone. The screen was on, chroma started on its own, after being in the water for 5-8seconds I took it out and placed it on my bed. Then realized screen was off, pressed power button, realized phone itself was off. I long pressed the power button to turn it on but nothing's working. I opened the Sim tray and checked the Liquid Damage Indicator but I should be safe as thats white with red x patterns. The phones been set aside for an hour and I currently see moisture in the back camera, flash and heart rate sensor. I'm scared to try to charge it as I think it might further damage it. EDIT: I riced it for 16hrs plugged it in, it was charging till 100% used it a bit, ran Antutu Benchmark was fine and everything. Then I turned off the screen and noticed the Always on display not showing, I unlocked it with the fingerprint even heard the sound but screen was blank, pressed power button heard the sound unlocked with iris scanner heard unlock sound, got messenger notification sounds aswell. After a few mins picked it up again was pressing buttons and trying the screen was on but at minimal brightness with a warm tone, I thought I set the bluelight filter so went to turn it off but it wasnt on, brightness was also at medium according to the slider, changed it but it didnt affect the screen, then the screen suddenly turned up in brightness with faded colors, then again jumped back to the lower brightness warm tone with a flicker then went blank and unresponsive again. What do I do?

Hi, I have a problem with my phone, hope someone can help me. I have a samsung galaxy s9 plus. I like to have my screen timeout after 10 minutes of inactivity, but every time i reset my phone it changes back to default value of 30 seconds. It's annoying. Please help

Been debating this for a while because I believe I can sell my S9+ for enough to buy a new OnePlus 6T 128GB + 8GB ram so I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were. Any input is appreciated

Hello there guys, I own a samsung galaxy s9 plus and samsung galaxy s8 plus. After I got my recent uptade :' November security patch', my phone has gradually slown down ,I notice lag on opening the app drawer and many of software related issues , I just wanted to know if someone else has this issue.

So I have a Galaxy S9 SM-G960W, Whenever my phone is asleep, the WiFi/Data connection becomes unstable, and only connects sporatically. This is a problem as Whatsapp web browser, and whatsapp calls do not come through to my device unless my phone is awake. I've done a factory reset, and it still persists. I don't have the option under Wi-Fi -> Advanced to keep Wi-Fi on during sleep, as was mentioned in some solutions. What can I do to help fix this? The phone is out of warranty, though I don't even know if this is something wrong with the phone, or intended for power savings. It wasn't like this when I got it, but could have started after a system update.

I got a second hand Galaxy s9 about 2 months ago, everything was working fine. Then yesterday while using the phone the phone screen glithed out. Sort of like that scene in the Arkaham Asylum game. Now the screen only works if the brightness is below 10-ish% or above 90-ish %, and when the screen is on and working it has a horrible green hue. The blacks look more like a brown. I can't use the power button to unlock the phone as that shuts down the display. The work around was using the always on display and using the finger print scanner to unlock the phone. Ive looked around on other sites and some like ifixit say to replace the screen while other users on samsung's forums say its a software issue. Has anyone else come across this or know any fix. In 2016, Apple dual sourced modems for the iPhone 7 from both Intel (AT&T, T-Mobile) and Qualcomm (Verizon, Sprint) and the iPhone 7 with Qualcomm modems have better signal reception and network speeds. Now Qualcomm is slamming Apple just like Samsung with their ads showing that the Galaxy S9 boasts better LTE reception and performance even on the same network. I don't think this is something commissioned by Qualcomm because unlike Rootmetrics, Ookla relies on real time data and in this case, they based it off of more than 1 million tests. What's worse is that even the iPhone X can't connect to T-Mobile's new 600 MHz LTE which should greatly improve coverage. How I wish Apple goes back to using exclusively Qualcomm modems but they're not exactly on good terms and litigations have been filed by both companies regarding patents. So if you want the best network performance for your iPhone X purchase, make sure you get the unlocked A1865 iPhone X which uses the Qualcomm modem and works with both GSM and CDMA networks though it still can't connect to T-Mobile's 600 MHz LTE (Band 71). The Samsung Galaxy S9 on the other hand can connect to more network frequencies including band 71 which means if you're a T-Mobile user and you use a Galaxy S9, you'll get better coverage than an iPhone X user even on the same network. For the rest of the world, the A1865 which supports more bands is the one being sold while the A1901 iPhone X is mostly for the US, Europe, North America, and a few Asian countries. Hi, everyone! I got a Galaxy S9 very recently and as everyone else, I'm really scared I might get robbed and loose my new very expensive phone, so I dug up all I could find about security features that I could use to either prevent it or get it back if I end up being that unlucky. First, and very cool, on the Samsung website you have the "Find my Mobile" option which will automatically turn on the GPS so it can report back the location, which is something Google's similar service does not do, which means it's basically worthless, since I never have the GPS on unless I'm actually using it, in order to save battery! Second, I noticed that you cannot turn off WiFi nor Mobile Data off if the phone is locked! You can turn it on, but not off, so, if a robber tries to turn off cell data, he can't unless he knows your lock code/pin/pattern/wtv. Since I always want to be connected to the internet to get facebook, instagram, e-mails, etc, notifications, if I leave home, I always turn on data, so, I'm always able to go to Samsung's website and use the "Find My Mobile" thing. The problem is, and it's a HUGE problem, you can turn off the phone even if it's locked!! What the hell?! All those security features and you can just turn it off?? What's the point of not allowing you to turn off data to keep the service usable if you can just hold the power button and turn it off?? This is a HUGE security issue that we shouldn't be having in 2018. When batteries were removable, well, they could just take it off, but now that they're not, they should make it impossible for a robber to turn off the phone without unlocking it. Am I missing some setting in which I can just disable the option of turning it off or what? If not, then, all is for nothing, because if a robber has half a brain cell, he'll just turn it off right away and it's gone forever. Is there a way of disabling that? Does it require root? Im helping a friend pick out a phone, they want a phone that feels good in the hand but also looks good. Im thinking go with pixel 2 or S9. So, to any Pixel 2 owners out there, how bad are the bezels? Do you notice them? Do they make the display look weird? Let me know.

I know for a lot of people in the forum especially younger ones may not care about this but this is good news for people currently suffering from hypertension regardless of age or inherited risk factors. The CDC reported in 2015 that for ages 45-64, heart disease is the second leading cause of death and surprisingly for people aged 15-34, heart disease is the fifth leading cause of death. If UCSF and Samsung can fine tune the new optical scanner of the GS9, I think it would be greatly beneficial for people on the go to monitor their blood pressures and resting heart rates without fumbling with a blood pressure cuff. At the moment, there are IoT devices that can sync blood pressure with an existing smartphone but it still requires a cuff like Nokia's BPM+ (formerly Withings) which syncs data with an iPhone or Android phone via Bluetooth. The MyBP Lab app will be available on the Google Play Store on March 15 in the US and will be available for people aged 18 and beyond. Hopefully they roll out the app to other countries as well. I can see people with high risk for heart disease using this like Type 2 Diabetics and overweight/obese individuals using this to improve their health. Personally I prefer the aneroid sphymomanometer because I think its a skill everyone should know and it's actually easy to do but it's interesting that tech companies are seeing improving health as a new business model. So at the moment we have: Apple with Stanford University to fine tune their HealthKit API in the Apple Watch which saved someone's life from a debilitating and potentially fatal heart attack [here] Google is creating a machine learning algorithm which can predict heart disease outcomes by analyzing opthalmoscope results [here] Nokia has been in the health related IoT devices for years with their acquisition of Withings And now Samsung in collaboration with UCSF in a study to determine just how accurate the new optical sensor of the Galaxy S9 Which makes me wonder where is Microsoft or Amazon in the health related tech research? It would be nice to ask Alexa "what's my heart rate during my HIIT workout"?
