TLDR- Battery dropped 10 percent charge in 10 hours while sitting on my desk removed from my phone. Worried i may have a dud on my hands. So i got a 5200 mah battery for my s4 (got phone free from friend, good upgrade from a 4s iphone) Obviously the stock battery is pretty well worn. i can drop it down to 30 40 percent easy (using the stock 2600) just keeping it on me at work connected to the wi fi, checking it on and off, using it heavily on my 90 mins combined breaks (1 hour and 2 15's) etc. But its almost dead when im home which is why i got the new battery. Didnt have time to fully juice the new battery so i unplugged it dropped the stock in and went to work, when i got home to replug it back in to finish the full charge it dropped 10 percent over those 10 to 11 hours that it was removed from device and sitting on my PC desk. Uhm is that normal? kinda worried i have a dud battery now. The thing takes FOREVER to charge as well but thats to be expected using the phones stock charger meant to pump the 2600 mah. (The battery did not come with its own charger, says to just use the phones stock charger and its made specifically for my s4 model) I guess with such a massive battery long charge times are just a reality. Im mostly concerned about that 10 percent drop over 10 hours when it wasnt even plugged into anything. Is a 1 percent per hour discharge rate for a removed li-ion battery normal?

Hello guys, I have been having a problem for a very long time with this phone and it's been bugging me enough that I will now discuss about it here in hope of sloving this. Basically my phone charges extremely slowly (around 4 hours to full charge or more) and if I try to use it at the same time, the power draw form the battery from using it exceeds what the charger is supplying to it Now I've tried a few combinations of charging methods being: -Wall charger with stock cable which delivers apparently 380 mA of current, -Wall charger +extension cable and stock cable which is what I use because when I'm in bed the stock cable isn't long enough by itself and this delivers 360 mA, -Samsung cable plugged into a USB3 port on my PC which also delivers 360 mA even if USB 3 is rated up to 0.9 mA and 1.5 mA for the charging dedicated ports which I do not have. -And finally my little unbranded power bank that I got as gift for spending X amount of money at a Quicksilver store and this one delivers a whopping 1.2 A of current which I would guess is what the phone should be drawing from the wall charger but it's drawing a bit over a quarter of that... Now this phone has been charging very quickly when it was brand new and if I remember correctly this slow charging issue started when I updated to Android 5 (now on 5.0.1) and I haven't been able to find a solution to this. The Wall charger I have has a Rated output of 5V and 2A but it doesn't deliver anything near that level of current. To give you an idea, my phone would be fully charged in about 120 to 130 minutes which is around 1% per 1 minutes until 80% is reached then trickle charging for battery health would fill up 30 mins or so of the charging time left. What I'm seeing here is probably a constant trickle charge rate and it's annoying as all hell... Anyone have any Idea on why this is happening? The battery itself if fine I would guess but the weird thing is that only my power bank is bale to charge my phone fast enough for it to be relevant at all. Please help, I would appreciate anything at all. Thanks

Went in to a local phone repair store today to have my S4's cracked screen repaired. The guys running the place were very nice, and had an S4 screen and digitizer combo in stock. (They only offer replacements of both, and don't just replace the screen, so my device is rocking new glass and a new digitizer.) Left it with them for 45 minutes or so and boom, screen was fixed! Well, sorta... Essentially I'm having some issues with responsiveness now. The phone is incredibly sluggish responding to inputs that is especially noticeable while typing. I use Swype often, and that works okay, but typing fast like I normally do causes the keyboard (Google Keyboard) to freak out and enter random text. Moving through pages on the home screen feels like it's behind by almost half a second if it decides to respond at all, and scrolling on the google now page or any web page is pretty bad. I am of course keeping in mind that this phone launched early 2013 and is definitely dated, but the change in responsiveness is very noticeable from earlier today, and I'm concerned that the new screen/digitizer combo is causing it. Not really sure what to do at this point... Is this even something that can happen?

Hi. I got a Samsung Galaxy S4 earlier this week, but every time I try and use GPS on data, it doesn't connect. I use GPS for Pokemon Go. The strange thing is that it works on WiFi so I know that it isn't the signal, but it does not want to work on data. My data does work too. I tested it in the AFL app. Any help would be appreciated, as I want to play Pokemon Go again :P. Thanks, Alpha.

I need help and have no idea where to go. My phone restarted randomly like it usually does but It got stuck on this screen Sadly I had no backup for the device and am wondering if it's bricked. I can access the phone when I hold the power/up or down volume/home button from time to time. I formatted the device hoping it would fix the issue. I managed to set up the device but I have to hold those specific buttons for it to work. Here are the device specs. I don't know what to do. I tried factory resetting it but with no luck. Every time i turn on the device i would have to set it up again. I just have no idea what to do. I installed a stock rom via odin using this tutorial. Device: Samsung Galaxy s4 SGH-I337 Android : 4.4.4 kit kat Edit: I have to hold volume down/home button/ power to turn it on which is quite annoying. I've never had this issue before. Is there a way to completely restore it to factory without having to do all this stuff? I tried doing it via recovery mode and in the phone itself. I get this screen first then it goes to the recovery shown at the top. BIG EDIT : it seems one of the reasons may be because my volume up isn't working (maybe) so it goes directly into recovery mode. I can sorta tell because I cant scroll up in the recovery mode and only scroll down.

My samsung galaxy s4's camera just shows blackness when i try to use it and the selfie camera doesnt work either, so what i did was i opened up my phone and looked at the camera to see if anything was wrong and i saw nothing wrong, when i try to use the camera the phone very briefly freezes and locks up for just a few short moments, so i then thought it might be a software problem so i reset my phone and completely just wiped it clean and i go through the setup and head strait to the camera app and it still shows blackness which makes me think its a hardware problem but i checked the hardware part and everything was fine. so now im completely clueless on whats wrong with the camera.

Backstory: I woke up today used my phone for about 10 minutes, went outside, mowed the lawn, then came back inside and started to use my phone and while I was in an app the screen turned black. I did the power button smack trick and the "static discharge" technique were you take the back off, remove SD card, sim, and battery hold power button for two minutes, then put battery back in after 5-10 minutes (I have done this 4 or 5 times now). Nothing has been fixed, but now every time I press the home or power button I get this crackly, fizzing, static-y kind of noise. What should I do?

So my sister apparently messed up her phone and I'm wondering what could be causing a screen glitch like this. I'm not really looking for a solution, I just want to know what went wrong. She's had two major drops with this phone. The first was when she first got it, and we had the screen replaced. The second time she dropped it in an elevator and chipped the bottom part of the screen. Now she's saying that she woke up and her phone's screen looked like the mess it is in the picture. So what could have caused this? (Sorry for messed up formatting, I'm on mobile and it won't really let me add any line breaks and it's frustrating.)

I had gotten a S4 as a present in August. I had a S4 mini before that and I was given an S4 not much of an step up but the person never knew I owned a phone. But to continue my phone just stopped taking my sim card. Naturally I thought it was the sim card tray so I ordered one up and replaced it last night. And its still not working. Then I remembered I had some sims with Fido and Chatr. I am with Wind at the moment and Chatr is the original provider I believe as it was the sim in it when I received it. And out of all three it was Chatr who worked. I would like to note when ever I do an factory reset it always downloads Telusapps but lets me delete them which is why I thought it was unlocked, which makes me unsure about who is the original provider. I don't get why it would take my sim for a month and some and just stop. Thanks in advance. Edit: To save some time i'll list what I have done to try to fix this Factory Wiped Changed sim tray A method I realize was for Android 4.4 and could not continue with Cleared cache Cleaned sims Checked all the connections on phone I broke the screen and replaced that too I spent so much on it there's no point to not fix it now because of the screen

I've recently purchased an Android Auto head unit for my vehicle (Pioneer 4100NEX) to use with my Galaxy S4. The head unit it great, but Android Auto has been mediocre at best. It looses connection and freezes every time I try to use it. For example: Played a song; a few minutes into the song- Dropped connection. Switched over to google maps and spoke a location- Dropped connection. Switched from google play music to spotify - Dropped connection. Each time it would do this I would pick up my phone and it would seem very warm like it was overheating. I've tried this on wifi and near full service on 4GLTE, so I'm fairly certain it isn't the wireless connection that is the problem. Does anyone know of a simple fix to this or is it just time to buy a new phone?

So I dropped my phone and, because I have horrible luck, both the panel and the screen broke. So I took it to my local phone repair shop and they fixed it. Now looking at it closely I can see the colors look different. At first I thought it was just that it was new and my eyes were used to an old panel, but then I compared it to my computer monitor which has great color reproduction that I use for video editing. I know it's accurate. The color reproduction on the phone is definitely off. That's not the only thing though. If there is a solid black on the screen and I swipe, it leaves this kind of trail. That's the only way I can describe it. It's annoying when a lot of icons have black in them, trust me. Anyone know what part of the screen is the problem? If I know what part is the problem I can probably fix it myself.

About a year ago I dropped my galaxy s4 and boom, the screen was destroyed. I had just rooted it the week before, and the unlock symbol appeared while booting. There was no way to remove this symbol, and I was afraid that my dad would get a $700 bill in the mail, I didn't send it in for the insurance. I tried to just replace the glass, but the replacement glass wasn't really that good, and the sensitivity was off. Instead, I purchased an htc one m7 on ebay for 280 dollars. I just looked online and saw that the replacement screen and digitizers are only 100 dollars now. Would it be a good idea to buy one of these replacements? Are they going to be official, or a cheap knock off? How easy would it be? Thanks!

Recently my galaxy s4's amoled screen broke so the entire screen is completely dead. All of my photos and stuff was on the SD card but there are a few things in the internal storage that I'd like to get as well. The problem is the phone had a swipe lock screen and I have no idea how to unlock it. If it isn't possible to, then that's fine. Any help is appreciated, thanks. Details: Rooted Custom Recovery: TWRP 2.7 OS: 5.0.1 GPE ROM (from XDA not actual GPE) Device: Canadian GS4 I337m

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. I factory reset the phone through the setting and then updated it to lollipop. My brother was playing on it that night and it shut off on him. He is not sure if he ran the battery all the way out or if it just shut off. He thought at the time that the battery died but know he is not sure. He plugged it in to the charger. A couple hours later I went to turn it on and nothing happened. No vibrations, lights, sound, LED's, or screen at all. I tried different chargers and a good battery. It is not recognized by my computer. I took it to best buy and Verizon and they had no idea. Has any body else had this problem? Is there any thing i can do? addition I cant access the download mode

I have had my GS4 for about a year now and like most people i stupidly have been leaving my phone on the charger every night and now the battery is very meh. I would just buy another stock gs4 battery, they are still really good, but I was wondering if there were any better, better meaning longer lasting, batteries for the GS4. I don't know if it matters but i have a US Verizon GS4. Thanks

So I dropped my phone, an s4, and at first the screen was tinted green in a smallish half circle on the left side of the screen, and now it is getting larger to the point where it is almost unusable. are there repair kits that i can buy? or do i just have to bring it to a repair place?

I have an aftermarket S View cover for my S4, and the clock that I see seems to be in a different font than other S View clocks that I've seen. The clock font that I see looks like this: When other S view clocks have a far nicer font, that looks like this: And I've looked through the settings and I can't figure out if i can change it. Is it possible to change it? If so, how?

You may or may not know about the LTE Advanced version of the galaxy S4 which was launched a few months ago (LTT thread here) which also happens to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, probably the best performing chip in the smartphone market. The phone was initially only available in very few markets such as Russia and South Korea where a few carriers were adopting LTE Advanced however this week Deutche Telekom AG has announced that it is upgrading its own network to category 4 LTE-Advanced this year and is planning to offer this LTE-A version of the GS4 to take advantage of this new technology. The news is a bit less exciting than it was a few months ago with more phones launching with S800, but it's still definitely a nice choice for anyone who can take advantage of LTE-A Source: http://pocketnow.com/2013/09/05/snapdragon-800-galaxy-s-4-3 Considering there are still no news about local carriers adopting any form of LTE I'm hoping they'd jump straight to LTE-A, although that's probably still a few years in the future and with the Nexus 5 expected soon the s800 GS4 sounds much less interesting to me.

A study from insurance firm SquareTrade Europe concluded that iPad mini and Galaxy S4 are the most fragile gadgets currently able to buy. The study looked at the design and construction of the devices, as well as their weight, grip and water resistance. I'm going to order a few ethernet and HDMI cables from monoprice. I saw that the cases were about $3 for the Galaxy S4. I thought I could throw in in. Are they any good? I don't really care if I break it, but I still want something to protect it.
