Hello,as the title suggests i have a build with a FX8370, it started having issues with overheating and shutting down, after installing AMD Overdrive and doing some testing it looks like it always runs at full speed (Turbo: 4320MHz @1,425 V and turbo off:4019MHz @1,35V) at idle the temps are around 40 degrees from the thermal margin, but they go to -20 degrees before shutting down (since the margin is @60 degrees, it means it goes to 80 degrees Celsius) i have never overclocked it, it's as is from new, all setting are set to default in bios. I'll provide a photo at idle. Specsheet: CPU: AMD FX8370 GPU: Nvidia 1050Ti Motherboard: gigabyte 12dc1-amd9se-250cr RAM: 16GB DDR3 PSU: Thermaltake 470w OS: Win11

Hello, 3 days i ago i changed my old motherboard to an msi 760gm-p23 fx. I added my AMD FX 6300 and my RX 550, yeah yeah i know, old stuff, but that's all i can affoard. The problem comes when i start up a game, for example gta 5. When the CPU temp sits up to 67°C, the game goes smoothly. But as soon as the CPU temp goes to 68°C, it automatically goes to 206°C, throttling the performance and making the games run at 16 fps. Worst thing about it is that it does not stop until i reboot. I can close the game, keep my pc on the desktop so it cools down, but if i reopen the game it will still measure 206. This has never been an issue with my old motherboard. Now, of course this is an error in measuring the temperature, otherwise my pc would catch fire. I have searched the internet and apparently this is a common problem with this MoBo, but i can't find any solution. Is there any way to fix this? Please refrain from telling me to buy a new MoBo, i am broke af, i don't have more money to spend on this stuff. I just paid 47 euros for this one wich is what i make in 2 days of work (that's Italy for you)

So i may have fucked myself how bad is an AMD FX-8370 4 GHz 8-Core Processor i was tlaking to a freind and i told him that i was building a pc and he asked ohh cool what cpu did u get i said i got an amd fx 9370 for 50$ he said u fucked urself and now i feel dumb how bad did i fuck myself

I have a Amd FX8320, 8 core 8 thread. But only 4 CPU cores are showing up in windows. I've tried change the processor core amount in the msconfig boot window. but it doesn't work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I recently got old pc components for me to assemble and use. but I don't have a case for it, the motherboard is from early 2010's and its AM3+ Gigabyte with an AMD FX CPU. I'm trying to find a dedicated GPU that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. But I want to get a case ordered. but i wanted to know what cases (if any) would be good for this motherboard. preferably new, but old will work too. Thanks for any help!

So i bought msi gt750ti in around 2016-2017, it worked very well with my fx 6300 up untill few months when i got my first burned 4pin cpu connector on motherboard, luckily motherboard was under warranty so got it repaired, next thing that got issue was 24pin connector, it was burned but this time, i bought new motherboard and psu wires were replaced by service center (psu was circle 450w) after few months it was my 750ti, it started to crash in solid color (dark blue, red, green, navy blue) then one day it completely stopped working as it was under warranty, i sended it to service center but they told me that it was not repairable and gave me credit note. Then i bought new motherboard and new gpu (1050ti) cpu and ram were same (fx 6300 along with 8gb of local vendor ram). Then in june~august 2019 my 1050ti gave me issues, so sent it and got replaced, bought new psu too (corsair vs550 80+white) and bought a new ups for only PC, then it was rainy season here and one fine day i started my air conditioner and smelled burning so i called technician next day and as soon as he switched on the AC and there was short circuit in AC motor, my screen went blank and yet again 1050 ti somehow died along with the tv it was connected to ( i diagnosed that it was because of power strip not being connected to earth wire at the time) Ups was working when this happened and pc was also running but gpu had no fan spin and tv didn't had display as it also got burn on hdmi port on pcb. Again sent 1050ti got replacement, bought new TV and a heavy duty surge protector with ground, now in between this 1050ti lost a capacitor/resistor or some diod of some kind, took it for repair and the guy instantly fixed the issue. So basically 3 times 1050 ti was already replaced and repaired Now wait it does 4th time too ha! In Feb 2021, i got a BSOD and had to manually shut and start pc, upon starting i heard beep from speaker and came to know that it was due to ram so i removed 1 stick and tried to boot and it did so i then cleaned surface of ram and reinstalled it and thats when 1050ti stopped spinning fan and didn't gave output. I heard beep of boot screen so i knew something was wrong with 1050ti itself, so i tested without gpu and with spare gt210 and it booted with screen both time. Now to current situation: i start pc normally, use it for sometime then it crashes randomly while on excel sheet or while gaming or just on desktop, it then restarts and i can hear speaker making boot beep but there is no signal, so i tried to connect tv to motherboard and was able to see display. (This is all while my 1050ti was connected and having spinning fan) So next step i did was reseat gpu, nope didn't work, next i tried to reseat 24pin, got into bios and it crashed. Tried gt210, it did same thing few times, but after few tries it started to give display and was no longer crashing. Again reseated 24pin and put 1050ti It worked, stressed gpu using msi kombustor, gpuz render test, unigine heaven and benchmark mode as well as story mode in assassins creed Valhalla, it didn't crash, so started fortnite, after 2-3 matches it crashed, again repeated same steps, it crashed on windows loading part, after repeating reseating 24pin and gpu, it worked again, this time it worked for whole week then after 6 days it started crashing, repeated same it worked. Now my psu is corsair vs550 so i know it can handle 1050ti easily but yup i am out of answers So please someone help me diagnose issue. This issue is blowing my mind now. I have already invested heavily on this rig Since 2016 i have had replaced motherboard, gpu, ram, psu and bought ups too in 2019. I think it is because of motherboard but i am not sure and due to covid, service center is not open so i cannot take it there to get tested. I want to buy new ryzen 3600/i5 10400 along with new motherboard and ram but i first want to diagnose this issue and be absolutely sure. Recently I have decided that I need an upgrade. I'm currently running an i5 2400 with an OEM 1155 board. My CPU is no longer powerful enough for what I need to do with my PC as what I'm doing requires a high core count, and recently I've had this problem where the CPU fan just decides to stop spinning and it lets my CPU heat up to 100C while I'm putting it under load. I'm not able to configure the fan curve in the bios, as the bios for this motherboard is very simple because I slowly ripped out every part of a prebuilt Lenovo system while upgrading. SO i've been thinking of having 2 possible upgrade paths, and since I already have an AM3+ cooler on hand I thought to either go for an FX chip like the FX-8320 and an AM3+ motherboard since FX CPUs are relatively cheap and have high core counts, or go for a second hand 1st gen ryzen with AM4 board. I don't want to spend more than £100 on this upgraden at most, which is why I want to know if my AM3+ cooler can fit. It's the stock CPU cooler for the FX-8350 chip, and I don't want to have to spend extra on a new bracket for my current cooler, or to buy a new cooler outright.

Pretty straight forward question, will my GPU be bottlenecked in a significant manner by my CPU? I’m going to be running a GTX 1060 6GB SC as my GPU, and a FX-8370 @4GHz as my CPU. If it’s important I’ll also be running 20 GB of 1600MHz DDR3. Thanks guys

I just ordered an FX-8370 and Hyper 212 Black Edition for my first PC build, but I’ve heard a lot about the FX-8370 running very hot, and I just wanted to make sure my Hyper 212 will be enough to cool it? If not I can resort to ordering a Rosewill PB240. Keep in mind this is my first ever PC build so I’m not completely acquainted with this hardware yet. (FYI: I have 3 120mm case fans as well)

Hello LTT comunity, finally it's time to upgrade my old computer. Currently I have an FX 8350 cpu with a crosshair formula z motherboard and Strix RX580 8GB TOP GPU. For now I'm planning to upgrade to R7 3700X, but I don't know what to do with motherboard. I see several choices at the moment B550 AORUS MASTER and ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING. I see Gigabyte as a better choice for the future, but I’m worried about the first PCI-E slot, how much slower gpu speed will be if I install rtx 2070 in the future on 8X lanes insted 16X lanes. As far as i understand it will only at 8X speed if I use second m.2 slot? i rarely play but always want to try something. or maybe you have better offer for motherboard?

Yes yes yes, i know i have an old computer and yes im looking in to upgrading when prices go down a bit more. I made my system in late 2015 so i think it was decent at the time. But since i bought it it was always running a bit hotter than i would have liked, my cpu (FX-8350) was regularly running at over 80c when gaming more demanding games with a CoolerMaster 212 EVO. I looked in to the subject a bit and learned that the fx-8350 likes to run hot and that its normal, but looking at much more powerful new cpus from intel and amd i cant imagine that 80c+ temp on an older cpu with a good cooler are normal. I dont have an overclock, i have 4 case fans generating positive air pressure inside the case, room is well ventilated. I'm trying to figure out if my situation is really normal or not, and is there a cheap fix since i dont want to invest in an old system.

My friend has an AMD system with fx 6300, 4+4gb vengeance ddr3 1600 and a 1050 in it and he is facing isues. His total ram is shown as 5.89Gb usable out of 8gb. Board is a 78lmt usb-3. I tried all trouble shooting steps including using a eraser and 99% Isopropanol to rub the old carbon residue off the ram gold contacts. Also unchecked maximum memory in boot section. Bios also detects 6gb ram. I tried other slots and once it showed 8gb in bios but in windows showed same 5.89 usable out of 8. At this point I am unsure if this a faulty motherboard or a buggy bios since both sticks in single config are detected as 4gb.

Ok it appears that on CPU-world website I compared the FX-8370 of mine with a Phenom II X6 1090T, Ryzen 5 3600X and i5-9600KF, what surprised is there seems to be FEW NEW INSTRUCTION SETS POST BULLDOZER / PILEDRIVER... In other words anything from Phenom II era or older may lack some new ones but FX and later is still good even now in 2020? The only new ones is AVX2.0 and TSX one of the two is a proven failure and does anything even use AVX2.0 not work with regular AVX? If all is good with AVXthen why upgrade for any other reason than performance lacking?

Actual build (built in 2015) CPU: AMD FX-8320 (overclocked at 4.6GHz) (w/ Corsair H100i Water Cooling) MB: MSI 970 Gaming RAM: G.SKILL RipjawsX DDR3-1866MHz 16GB (4x4GB) GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB PSU: Corsair CS750M SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB HDD: Western Digital WD Caviar Blue 1TB Here is what I came up with after doing some research. Upgraded build CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (w/ Wraith Stealth Cooler) MB: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V DDR4-3600MHz CL16 16GB (2x8GB) GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB SSD: Western Digital WD Black SN750 500GB NVMe M.2 (w/o Heatsink) To save some money, I could reuse the power supply, SSD and HDD from the previous build. I could also deal with the stock Ryzen CPU cooler since they are apparently way better than the previous ones. Questions: Is this build just right for 1080p gaming? Could I simply replace 1 or 2 components in my actual build to achieve the same goal? Could there be a more budget-friendly equivalent AMD GPU for the GTX 1660 Super? One day, I decided to bench my i7-5820K clocked at 4.4 GHz on air using CPU-Z and I got some results, listed below. Obviously with a beast like the 5820K it should ideally be water cooled, but I got the thing on black friday and water coolers weren't on sale, so I was left with the Hyper 212 EVO. Cringe all you want, I know it is torture for the poor CPU, thermal throttling under max load, cooking itself to death, but worry not, I will eventually find adequate cooling for it; for now I lowered the thermal throttling temperature from 105 to 85 degrees Celsius, which is as low as the BIOS allows. But I digress; I had a billion PCs collecting dust in my room, so I decided to bench them using the same portable CPU-Z on a flash drive. Processor Single Threaded Score / Multi Threaded Score (all threads) Intel Core i7-5820K 4.4 GHz 1.3v on all 6 cores, 4.2 GHz 1.3v on Cache (I think that is also called Uncore, correct me if I'm wrong), with HyperThreading Enabled 1986 / 13246 AMD Phenom II X4 830 (non black edition) 3.36 GHz 1.25v (that is the readout CPU-Z gave me, if I had to guess this chip should run at least 1.45v stock) on all 4 cores, everything else is left on automatic (HyperTransport, etc.) 677 / 2032 AMD FX-6350 4.0 GHz 1.4v (CPU-Z readout, I'd lower this to 1.35v for a 100 MHz overclock) on all 3 modules, everything else left on automatic (voltage, etc.) 355 / 1462 (notice how shit these scores are) and for shits and giggles, I benched a budget laptop sporting the AMD E2-3800 1.3 GHz (yes, you read that right) 1.075v, since it is a laptop, no overclocking was possible. 366 / 1033 (notice how this is better than the score above) I left notes in parentheses where I want to focus you attention on. As you can see, the FX gets rekt by even the cheapo $300 laptop I bought a few years back, what's the big idea? In one of my previous posts, I questioned why my FX-6350 was running so cold under 100% load, peaking at 45 degrees Celsius or so. The most common answer was that my motherboard for the FX-6350, the MSI 970A-G43, had weak power delivery. For comparison, my i7-5820K is installed on an ASRock Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7, which has "12+1 power phase" whereas I could only count up to 5 (or 4+1) on my MSI board. My Biostar TA790GX 128M (not the TA790GXM 128M) used for the Phenom seems to only have 4 (3+1) phases and still manages to destroy the FX-6350. Basically what I am saying is that I am pretty confused as to why the FX chip performed the worst out of all. I took the single threaded scores and divided them by the clock speed (I am pretty sure that is NOT how you measure IPC but it is just for the sake of comparison) and got 451/GHz for the i7, 201/GHz for the Phenom, a staggering 88/GHz on the FX, and a whopping 281/GHz on the E2. The question is why does my FX chip perform so poorly? Edit: While I am at it, I looked at the references CPU-Z gave and the i7-5930K at stock speed performed just as well as my overclocked i7-5820K. Knowing that they are both the same chip but with different amount of lanes, why is it that my i7-5820K is performing worse than what essentially is itself? Bumping up the clock speed to 4.5 GHz makes the system unstable but it does push it over 2000 marks on single threads, so I know how it scales; basically my 5820K is performing worse than the 5930K by the GHz. Some explain?

I'm planning on buying the AMD FX-4300 CPU because the current CPU that I have right now is very old and can't keep up with my R7 360 GPU, will it be a good choice? I'm only gaming on my system as well as surfing the web, I might actually upgrade to a 1050 Ti or something similar to it because my budget is low. So I got a Asus SAbertooth 990fx REv 2.0 (i think) AMD fx8320 Corsair Vengance 2x4 GB DDR 2400 Mhz ram Corsair h100i 240 AIO Im planning to use a 550 watts psu from corsair that i have lying around, will the cooling and power be enought to push some good oc on the cpu? or do i need a bigger psu The GPU i havnt decided on yet, but i think like 1050Ti or something like that

Hello guys! So I have 2 complete builds (specs at bottom). I've rendered the same test videos with the same settings, with almost absolutely no background usage. Also made 3DMark Firestrike's physic test. For the render: I5 6500 was almost the same as FX 8320, I5 beat the FX by 1sec. The Firestrike showed the FX to be 2FPS faster than the I5. So the question is, tho I admit already that I'm no expert, so it might be stupid one: How is that the FX chips are told to be bottlenecking even with the GTX 900 and R9 300 series, not to mention the newest ones, but the I5 can happily even go with the GTX 1080, while both CPUs seem to be working with the same overall power at 100% on all cores. What I don't want to see here is, FX sux, even I3 is better. The thing is that I know that some benchmarks and some games run faster on I3s, as those things have an unbeatable single core performance, same applies to I5s, on 2-4 cores, it'll annihilate any current AMD chips. But when it comes to games like Fallout 4, which I played with CPU monitoring on, and ate 100%@8cores, yet it performed much much much worse than the I5? Also I made sure to use lower settings if necessary and watched the GPUs on both setups, and eliminated the chance of GPU causing problems. No temperature problems. RAM never hit the maximum Specs - AMD setup: AMD FX-8320@4.0GHz cooled by Deepcool Maelstrom 240t ASUS R9 390 (3 fans version) ASUS M5A99X EVO R 2.0 Crucial 240GB BX 200 Specs - Intel Setup: I5 6500 @3.2GHz cooled by stock cooler Gigabyte GTX 1060 3GB windforce Asrock B150m-HDS Western Digital 1TB 64MB WD10EZEX Due to my not-so-good english, sometimes things get messy, so the question again: FX-8320 and I5 6500 same performance at 100% at every core. How I5 doesn't bottleneck, while FX does?

So I've been thinking about overclocking my 8350 for a while now and i'm hoping to get some input for the community into what overclock would be safe and if anyone else has had experience overclocking the 8350 and is it really worth it? I run an cooler master 212 evo CPU cooler which has been amazing at keeping my 8350 at around 45°c under load (games like over watch on epic and battlefield 1 on ultra etc) so i'm not too worried about thermals.

Hi all! So... recent mishap. My AIO has leaked on me (Silverstone TD01-LITE) and killed my MOBO and GPU... Luckily MSI, said they'd RMA it and Amazon/Silverstone is refunding me. That being said, what would be a good option to OC this CPU? Either Air or Liquid (preferably AIO) are welcome.

so late in 2015 i built my first full fledged gaming PC and now i feel like some components I've chosen were a mistake, mainly my FX 8350. It was a good cpu at the time and 2 years ago me thought that getting an 8 core amd processor was better than getting a quad core i5. Now with Ryzen right around the corner i know most people will tell me to buy it when it launches but I've got a slight issue, as a university student who isn't making any money how long is the 8350 still going to be viable for gaming?
