I have an older system that never worked correctly. I like to tinker with it, and one of my 'goals' is to get it working perfectly. I am hoping for some input here. CPU: FX-950 CPU Cooling: 280 MM liquid, with 4 140 MM fans, one set sucking, another set blowing out. MB: ASUS CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z RAM: 16 GB Vid card: RX 270 (maybe 290) HD: Samsung 250 GB, 2 TB support drive. The problem is the system randomly hard locks. I saw it recently do that during boot up. Over the years I've done the following: AMD cleared the CPU ASUS 'fixed' the motherboard, but the onboard software reports an issue with one fan, even if the fan works fine. Hard Drive: Untested, but Samsung's software says its fine Vid Card: Used it in another system, that system worked fine. PSU: 1000 Watts, but I have the original 1300 watt PSU in another build, and wait for it, fine. Ram: Never tested I am going mentally over what could be wrong, yes I was an idiot I let the fans spin when cleaning the rig. As stated I keep repairing it, and I don't ever get system to the point where it works consistently/flawlessly. I have some downtime, I have money, maybe someone can see something I don't for this older system.

I have an fx 9590 it has to low temps is that ok? this pc is 8-9 years old

Ok, so I am looking for the absolute best cooler for the AMD FX-9590, I need it to be at least somewhat budget, and only if you have a good argument for me going to a different processor say that.

Hi, im going to buy a GTX1080 G1 graphics card, will there be a big bottleneck with my FX-9590 CPU? I will be playing 1080p in the future and I don't need more then 60fps. Do you think I can play 1080p 60fps new titles in the next years? And just for fun 4k Minecraft possible? (ofcourse with a 4k monitor)

So I just made my first system (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8DXctJ) and I loved every bit of it, but I notice that its a 8 core cpu but the task mangier only shows one core on the performance page. Also, I'm using the commander pro/ link to keep most of the pc cool and in there also it only shows the package, nothing else. The thing is that I love the link software but the temp on the package fluctuates way too much to be realistic, it goes from 26.5C then to 35C back to 27C and just jumps a lot, making my fans spin up for a sec then spin back down. Any way to fix any of these. Finally, could someone help me with making a good fan curve so that this thing cools and runs quieter. Thanks! Also, any other tips would help, thanks!

Ever since I upgraded my original rig in 2015 this PC has been very unstable. I would get freezes without any blue screen, thus very little way to conclude a solution. The screen freezes and audio just cut's out entirely. I just want to know what components could be causing this I believed that it could be my cpu, as my gpu is new and does get hot but never past 80 degrees for any prolonged amount of time... I'm about to buy a ryzen 3000 series but I want to know what I did wrong to not repeat history my build- RTX 2070FE 20gb DDR3 at ~1600MHz Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Ultra-CF AMD-FX9590 Coolermaster V8 GTS 4 Case Fans NZXT H440 900 watt Gigabyte PSU

I built my PC around 1 year ago, and I've had this problem since the beginning. My PC has a FX-9590 and a GTX 1060 with 16gb DDR3 ram powered by a 700w PSU. Whenever I run games (any game) both my monitors will freeze and my fans would kick up to 100%.The most recent time this happened was when i was playing BF4 with spotify in the background, and the only way to get it back to normal is by restarting my PC. This is really annoying and I would really appreciate any help with this -Thank You

I am currently running a FX-6300 Black Edition on a Sabertooth 990FX V2.0. I have just installed a 980Ti GPU and my UEFI is now popping up warning messages that my CPU temp is exceeding 65C wile gaming which is beyond the normal operating range of 50-60C for Piledriver architecture. So I have decided to switch to a closed loop cooling solution. My thinking is that if I am going to switch cooling solutions anyway, with the FX-9590 at $229 USD would it be worth it to upgrade the CPU as well? This computer is currently used for School, Gaming, and I am trying to set up a webcast. Should I stick with what I have, up grade the CPU, or wait for the next generation of hardware, and most importantly.... WHY? Thanks

Does anyone know if the H100i is able to keep up with a FX-9590? I know the thing puts out a lot of heat and I tried using a beastly air cooler and it just couldn't hack it. So, I'm considering a closed loop and read that the H100i comes highly recommended. Thanks!

Hey, im wondering about this build, since the cpu is such a power hungry beast, and also gets really hot when idling and in full load. the MSI website says you need special thermal paste, and what does that mean exactly, what is special thermal paste? I will be cooling this cpu with a "Cooler Master Neptun 240M" yes i know im on the red team, but still need help figuring this out.. any answer is much appreciated!

Hey guys, need a little help. I am putting together a computer build for a school build contest. I am using the Fractal Design Core 2500 as a case, the AMD FX-9590 processor, and the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard. I need a 240mm AIO water cooling system that will fit in the top mounting area of the Core 2500 and be compatible space wise with the motherboard listed. Please help me out.

This is my system: fx-9590 (h100i, can overclock past turbo if it matters) asrock fatality 990fx 16GB 1333 ddr3 (corsair valueselect, single channel) sapphire r9 290 (basically a reference card) 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD 850W 80plus silver psu I want to improve my gaming performance. I'm thinking of getting another 290 and going crossfire but I'm not sure if it will be worth it. Using AOD while running BF4 at ultra 1440x900 (monitor res, getting a new one) 140% resolution scale (avg 60-70 fps or more (100-130), sometimes drops (38-50)), I noticed that my CPU hovers around 50-65%, and my GPU is usually at 100% with the clock speed of it sometimes jumping around wildly. I also notice that it is running right on the edge of the thermal limit at 94 Celsius. Clearly, my 290 is the bottleneck either due to thermal throttling or due to being maxed out completely. Now, a 290 waterblock (to fix the suspected throttling and keep my fps consistently high) and another 290 seem to cost exactly the same. So here is the question: Should I get another 290 and crossfire, or watercool my current 290? Would my 9590 significantly bottleneck the crossfire configuration's performance? should I just sell the 290 and buy a new GPU? would the 9590 bottleneck that? Would a potential 290 crossfire even work with my current psu?

Hello! So basically a month ago I purchased the R9 295X2 GPU to plop into my system, massive upgrade from the R9270X I thought! But was it? Not really... I'm using an FX-9590, which people say will cause a bottleneck, but really, it shouldn't cause something this bad. I had these issues for a month, but assumed it was to do with my 850W PSU, which I have upgraded to 1000w a few days ago. Nope, same issues. Just no random shutdowns on full CPU + GPU load. Running Furmark or Unigine Heaven, my GPUs are constantly maxed out as they should be. Drops to only 99% usage of the GPUs. 130+ fps on Furmark at 1080p, with 8100ish score. More than double that of an R9 290X as it should be. Unigine never really drops below 60fps with tessellation on extreme, the benchmark on ultra with no AA at 1440p. Now, when it comes to the two latest AAA PC games I have, they are GTA V & The Crew. My results are literally pathetic and I feel I have wasted money on this card due to these. I have spent the past few days trying to figure it out around work times. GTA V @ 1440p, max (advanced settings all off) no aa, no vsync - indoors I get about 50-70fps, outside I get 40-55fps. Pathetic. The Crew @ 1080p, ultra, 4x aa - 45-50fps Now one thing I tried, is going into borderless window to disable crossfire and see my results. Practically the same. A drop of about 5fps, which is never stable when the crossfire is on anyway. With both games. I should also state that when I enabled X4 AA on GTA V, the usage between the cards jumped up to around 60-75% on each card... so there is definitely room there not being used... Much googling and using software, my GPUs for some reason as making up for eachother rather than using their full power together. For example, when one is at 50%, the other is at 50%. When one goes to 75%, the other goes to 25%. They sometimes manage to get to 105%+ usage added together, but that is only for a second or two, which does boost my FPS to the higher points for a short time. When I switch to one card (borederless window) I get 100% GPU usage on GPU1 and 0% on two. (I tried this to disable crossfire and see) This makes no sense to me as in the benchmarking tools, everything runs perfectly topped out. But in games... I fail to hit a stable 60fps in any of my new games... one of the R9 290Xs alone should be able to do that... Any ideas people? It's been driving me insane... any suggestions would be super helpful. So I tried Car Mechanic Simulator 2015, a somewhat light game. CPU usage was round 30-40%, FPS doubled under crossfire. Could this be a CPU thin then? Maybe I should attempt a slight overclock and see what happens?

Oh yeah I said it, pick up your keyboards and fight! Anyway the silliness to the side why do people hate this CPU so hard I mean the flame, and pure fan boys just start to throwing insults... I'm relatively new to the hardware scene and I know that this CPU has a TDP of 220, and requires a relatively big PSU not to mention the cooling as well, but when you think about it if you go all so called "high end" people will get water-cooling anyway (I'm sorry for generalization that's just what path noticed over the forums). Also people like to mention that this CPU will bottleneck high end GPU's which I think is absurd sure SLI and CrossFire was never the thing on the AMD side from what I know (at least for the last 2-3 years), but for a single cards a big no no on my side. I always see like oh just go for an i7, I'm sorry but from what I saw from the popular benchmarks i7 , yeah sure it operates 5% faster under lower TDP and PSU requirements but a 100 extra dollars for a good i7 is not worth it in my eyes. I would like to make a note that 9590 were cherry picked to be able to reach that 4.7 GHz clock speed so I disregard 8350. I would like to hear ALL of your opinions, but please base it on some facts, benchmarks, price, TDP, PSU requirements, and Cooling. However we like pairing Intel's i7-4770K with the 780Ti cards. Therefore we don't really want an AMD FX-9590 which is an option to couple with the R9 275x2 card. Our question is how well would it work to use the Intel CPU (i7-4770K) however use the AMD GPU (295X2). Another possible option is also the GTX Titan 6GB. So I've recently came across the FX-9590 where it was in stock for a decent price ($320-$340), and I've been trying to prepare a parts list for it. I understand that the 4770k generally beats the 9590 in most departments and is competitive in price, but the extra cores and multithreading capability of it makes it a winner for what I plan on using this computer for. I will say that this is a build planned for a 5-6 month span or potentially longer, depending on finances. If the next FX-series processors are competitive with this and cheaper, I could go for one of those instead if it comes out in 2014 before I jump on this. I may also find an FX-9590 for even less by then, so there's that. Now, from what I understand, air cooling is hardly an option with just a stock clocked 9590, so that brings me to question #1.. What liquid cooling system should I be looking at for this? I've looked at Thermaltake pro 3.0, Corsair's H80i and H100i, and some FrozenCPU kits for ~$220. I am completely uninterested in cosmetics. I'm mostly interested in what will adequately cool the 9590. I am definitely not dropping over $250-300 on this; I'll just get an i7 4770k or 4930k instead in that case. $200 or so is pretty much pushing it, it's kind of making me sick thinking of dropping that on a $300 processor that isn't even the best at a $650-700 budget for cooling + chip. I want to know if that extra ~$80-100 on a watercooling setup is going to make my CPU that much faster, as well. This brings me into question #2: What are some realistic, stable overclocks for an FX-9590? I've looked for a while now (probably could scour more of the internet) and have checked many benchmarks and reviews, but I haven't seen any actual numbers above it's stock 4.7ghz/turbo 5.0ghz. In fact, one 3dmark test was underclocked to 4.7ghz turbo. And now directly into question #3.. I'm looking for a motherboard that is going to actually handle a potentially heavily overclocked 9590's heat and power consumptions. I'm currently looking at Gigabyte's GA-990FXA-D3P motherboard. It's not over $150 (I'm probably not going to buy an FX-9590 with a board over $150), has all necessary gizmos and it's fitting in the looks department. But is it going to melt or explode if I can push the 9590 to 5.6ghz or higher? I really don't give a flying fox (they exist) about power consumption regarding my CPU unless it poses a hazard to my outlet/power strip. The difference between 700W and 1500W for a system I won't be using/running 24/7 isn't going to phase my wallet when I go to pay the light bill. Question #4 (and kind of a #5): RAM (and RAM speeds/CL) I've never built a full computer before, let alone with actually recent parts. 1866-2400+mhz ram is new to me. That motherboard says it works with up to 2133, but from what I've read, the 9590 supports up to 1866mhz RAM? Or is that just the RAM speed it supports? Meaning I can overclock 2133 RAM to a lower CAD latency and speed? I'm perfectly fine with buying 8gb of 1866mhz ram, but if I can buy 2133 CAD10 and drop it down to 1866mhz CAD6, that would be cool. The reason I'm even comparing 1866mhz and 2133mhz is because I've found I can get either one for around the same price (actually the 2133mhz G.Skill Ripjaws X is cheaper than the 1866mhz). Ripjaws X is the cheapest, lowest CAD latency RAM I could find at 1866mhz, and the same holds true with the 2133mhz version. Question #6 would be about a case, which will probably be a full tower CM Storm Stryker, but that's irrelevant right now. I'd rather know what I'm using for cooling/mobo first. I plan on using all of this for mainly streaming at 60/120fps, and potentially recording at 30fps (hurr) at a highly likely 1440p. I'm looking at Gigabyte's R9 270X Windforce GPU's, possibly getting 2 for Crossfire and another monitor in the future, but if the 290X Windforce doesn't come out at like $650+ then I might just get that instead for a better system long-term. This is all subject to change when I'm sure about part prices when dropping the ~$1800-$2100 on this system (monitor incl.). Terribly sorry for the long read, but I'd really appreciate help. I wanted to do separate posts but I'd prefer an all-in-one at this length, honestly. Edit: I've looked at a lot of GPUs, but what I've seen so far is that the Windforce provides slightly higher clock speeds than EVGA's custom air-cooled ones generally, at a higher noise level (in which case the difference is irrelevant, there are such things as headphones). If you'd like to argue about or try to convince me to look at alternative cards than Gigabyte's, feel free to. I wouldn't mind a water block on an R9, but the cost is too much. Oh, and I'm planning on a 750W 80+ Gold psu from EVGA. Cheap as hell, good quality, not too loud I think. Any recommendations for a PSU if future XF if it's under $140?

Would just fans and the Cooler master Hyper 412s CPU cooler be enough till ill upgrade for a CPU water cooler? ( aprox 2-3 months) for the AMD fx-9590? Thanks for helping

Hello, So the title tells it, After playing games like BF4 or Metro 2033 about 5-15min the screen and the whole computer always just freezes. I Have two Powercolor 290X LCS cards with the watercooling and the temperatures on em' is about 63C when playing. I have also managed to play BF4 a little longer and then the BF4 has crashed with out of memory error.. I am using 14.7 RC1 drivers. Thanks for helps already!
