Alright. My computer had some troubles when I first started it up a few years back but it ended up running quite well. I've upgraded since then to the system I have now. The specs will be below, and feel free to ask any questions. I am usually not the forum type, but this has become quite the issue for me. Since I am running on decent, but yet old, specs, and have done my research, I should be getting decent FPS on newer titles. Some of the games I play such as GTA, The Witcher 3, and DOOM perform extremely well. However, when I load up Just Cause 3, it is constantly stuttering. Tests on Youtube, and even forum posts tell that I shouldn't be having that problem, even with the CPU that I have. As far as I know nothing should be bottlenecking. Here's where my major issues come in. Not only am I not getting 60fps on Just Cause 3 with the r9 380, I can't get above 60fps on CS:GO with maxed out settings. On forum posts, people say I should be getting around 200. It bothers me that I feel like I'm not getting the full performance out of my computer/graphics card. I get that my registry gets cluttered after using my computer without flattening for almost 2 years now, but should that create THAT much of an issue? I would love to hear everyone's feedback since this is my first time here, thanks! (I am running on 1080p on two monitors as well, but am only playing the game on one). SPECS: (Tell me if you need more info) CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5Ghz (Not overclocked) Heatsink: EVO 212 (With 2 fans) Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 Graphics Card: Powercolor Radeon R9 380 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 Core Clock 980 MHz 1 x DL DVI-I 1 x DL DVI-D 1 x HDMI 1 x DisplayPort 1792 Stream Processors PCI Express 3.0 Memory: 16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 Power Supply: 850Watt Thermaltake (Not sure on the exact model). Hard drive(s): 500GB 10000RPM WD and 1TB 7200RPM WD Hope I can get some help! Thanks.

Hi, i'm looking for quite a while now for a rather cheap upgrade for my CPU/Mainboard/Ram. Currently i'm running a AMD FX 8320, Biostar A960D+, 16Gig Ram together with a GTX 1060 6GB (check attached files). But in quite many games i get rather large FPS Drops Example 1: World of Warcraft: FPS in a 40man+ fight go from 50-60 down to almost 0 only to get back up again while nothing has changed in terms of effects on screen to 50-60. Seemingly quite Random. Example 2: Battlefield 4: 64 Player Server, most settings to medium or lower, sometimes 20 FPS, sometimes 60 FPS and sometimes even way lower. I simply run out of ideas what to try next. Temps rarely climb higher then about 50-60°C (122-140°F) on the CPU side & the highest on my GPU was around 70°C (158°F) as far as i noticed while playing for 1-2h. Anybody ideas? I also thought about getting a new Mainboard/CPU/Ram...but to be honest...i have absolutely no idea whats better and wont cost me a leg.. Greez PS: Sry if the grammar is sometimes wrong. English is not my native Language. PPS: Can i consider myself "lucky" cause one of my pins on my CPU is gone and it still works? (the FPS problems where there way before the pin was gone)

Hi, this is my first thread here on the LTT Forums, so in case I happen to break any rules with my post, I'm sorry. And btw, I am quite the noob at overclocking, so sorry if I sound really stupid. My question is, as the title states, how the hell do people get these amazing FX-8320 Overclocks? I've seen over at Tom's Hardware how some people claim to have stable OC's of ~4.4GHz @ 1.3-1.4v and only reaching ~45c during stress tests? But when I run Prime95 at stock/auto voltage (stock is ~1.35v iirc), I break 60c within 2-3 min of torture testing... (I even hit the 75c cap where it instantly turns PC off, when I tried a ~4.0GHz OC without touching voltages at all... woops) And the best I've managed to do, is: So, as shown in the screenshots, I have a FX-8320 on an ASUS 970 Pro Gaming/Aura MoBo, with a Cryorig H7 cooler, which supposedly beats the Hyper Evo 212 by a couple degrees according to various youtube reviews After running these tests, I came across another user's thread here on the forums, and someone replied with a 8320 OC guide site. After reading through the list (which I've seen before, but figured it won't hurt reading again) I realised that when I got to the thermal paste part, I had done what is not recommended, I had done the "credit card" thin layer method, because my Cryorig H7's instructions said to do so (I always knew this was not a great way to do it, but wanted to do things as recommended by Cryorig themselves) So... I took my PC apart, removed Cryorig's included thermal paste, applied new paste, this time using the centered "Pea" method, (Which looked more like a gray little pile of poop due to the thermal paste being high density, lol) And when I booted my PC back up, I fired up Prime95 for a few mins, and my temps now seem to be about 5c lower than in the screenshots... so my question and issue remains... How come some 8320's can OC to well over 4GHz at higher voltages, and run 10 degrees cooler than mine? is my CPU just extremely badly binned?

Hello have been trying to overclock my FX 8320 (3.50GHz), i just want a fast clock speed, i did overclock this processor before but i recently got a new motherboard (ASUS 970 Pro Gaming) and im just having troubles doing it, any advice or help would be awesome, i do have a corsair h100i cooler on the processor so heat should not be a problem. Thanks

There is one prime dilemma about the reading CPU Core and Socket temps via HWMonitor software. One is CPU Package Temp and another is CPU Temp. Many Misleading guides but is Package for the actual core temp and 'only temp for the socket temp or the opposite? The package seems like squirrel. No static reading but on the other hand only CPU temp seems very static. I am attaching a screenshot. Ambient is 28'C. Running browser, μTorrent and a movie. Derive. Am I safe?

Ok so I bought an FX 8320 and after installing the pc turns on but nothing displays on the monitor nor do the lights on the mouse/keyboard light up like normal. I have since put my old cpu back in and everything is working. my specs areMSI 970a-G46 moboFX 4100 CPU16gb RAMRadeon 7950 GPUthe BIOS is V2.5 which i believe is compatible with the new CPU. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Hi i have got this build http://pcpartpicker.com/user/alex8714/saved/kJ8gXL and would like to overclock my cpu, already did gpu with nice stable and cpu nice and stable only 4.2ghz and i wanted to see if i could get it bumped up to 4.8 possibly because i see on 3dmark scores a lot of people have gotten the 4.6-4.8 range and i think it might be insane but would like to see if it is possible in my build thanks

Hi there, I'm trying to see what my highest possible stable overclock is for my amd fx 8320. In order to do so I've had to raise my CPU core voltage all the way to 1.492 which is my maximum without it bsod. I'm raising my CPU frequency .1 ghz at a time. At the moment I'm up to 4.7 with it being stable. My temps under max load for CPU is around 25-30 and socket temps max reaching 44.75 with my kraken x61 on full power and my case fans and everything on max. Is that an okay temp? and should I expect to see any higher temps each time I raise my CPU frequency? Or this a completely horrible way of testing my highest overclock? Edit: Max temp just changed to 47C now but still it's keepin cool

Hi to everyone on the forums, I just wanted to share how difficult it's been to overclock this thing. So I have an msi 970 gaming motherboard with an evo 212 and a 80+ bronze evga power supply. So far I've been able to reach 4.4-4.5ghz but the problem seems to be that it won't stay stable. I've been using 1.432v on the vcore and 1.25 on the north bridge, and disabled most of the non necessary settings. I'm now back to default because I keep blue screening. Does anyone know what voltage I should set on things to get a stable overclock? Is it my motherboard vrm's getting hot and just crashing on me?

Hi guys, I just got my new CPU AMD FX-8320 Black Edition 3.5GHz But I'm really confused about the (safe) temperature I've read on some forums that it is recommended to keep it under 55° C But my friend who also has the same CPU uses it too with peaks of 80° C I try to keep my CPU under 50° and even with that temp. the place where the cpu is, that location feels really hot on the case itself But what I'm wondering about, What is the actual maximum temp and what temp do you guys recommend to keep under? What are the normal temps for browsing and gaming, whilst i am typing this my CPU is 44°C I am using the stock cooler and I'm going to apply new thermal paste later this day

First post on LTT, so sorry if I'm posting in the wrong area. I'm coming over from Toms Hardware Forums that seem to only have 5 people active at any given time, and quite honestly most of them are on the snide side so I'm trying to distance myself from that ha. I'm in a bit of a situation. Putting together a budget mid range build for my friend. Key word being budget. His motherboard price range is up to about the 50s. It's for my friends little brother who is on an extremely limited budget. He does not plan on overclocking, and doesn't need any special additional features. The two boards I'm looking at are the GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128565 and the MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130722 The problem is, I've seen people saying these boards can run this chip, and I've seen an equal amount saying they can not. Everything will be left at stock speeds, no overclocking what-so-ever. Does anyone have any real life experience with these boards and that chip? Or any 8 core fx chip really, the 8320 is what i'll be using for him but obviously if the 8350 or higher works than the 8320 would as well. thanks.

Hi guys, a year ago i built this pc the original cpu cooler i bought for my cpu was a Xigmatek cooler. I didn't like the looks of it so i saved up a little bit and bought a way too overpriced cpu cooler for my cheap amd FX-8320 cpu a Be Quiet dark rock pro 3, but since i changed the cooler the temperatures started displaying insane temperatures as shown in the picture. While i'm playing games the temperature will raise up to like 30-40°C. As you can see, the cpu isn't overclocked and is just running on the ''Asrock X-Boost'' mode selected in the Bios. The fans are running at normal speeds since they are just really quiet you can't hear them, is there anything wrong with my cpu or are these temperatures able to reach on idle speeds? I would love to get some feedback from you guys, i'm just curious and unsure!

My processor an AMD FX8320 never seem to enter in "Turbo Mode" . I've been monitoring the CPU frequency with varous hardware monitor software which display and log min/max temps and frequencies. The motherboard is an Asus M5A99FX Pro2.0 and Turbo is set to "Enabled" in BIOS. Temps are low, and power feeds are excellent. Im stumped about what might be the cause for this behaviour. Anybody else experience such an odd problem ? P.S. Before this CPU, i had a FX4100 which turbo boosted with no problem.

Hey guys, I wanted to know what do you think is the best motherboard for an FX 8320 (Amazon US availability, please). And also, is there another CPU you would recommend for that price range? (140$). I want it for gaming but also for streaming and photo/video editing, and I've read that DX12 games are going to be more multi-core friendly, so I assumed that that was my best choice. My maximum budget for a mobo is about $100, but I'd be willing to save some more if you give a pretty good reason for it. I also plan on overclocking the CPU, just so you know. Anyway, I hope you can help me and thanks in advance!

Now the point of owning a black edition CPU is to overclock, right? So what I want to know for myself and also future owners will is what overclocking range this chip has because of the silicone lottery. So what is your overclock? (Haven't listed mine because I'm rmaing it so I'll post mine after I get a replacement)

Hello everyone, Im very new to building my own Computer and especially overclocking but Im willing learning and reading all the necessary stuffs i need to know. First of all here are my current Computer specs: CPUAMD FX 8320 MotherboardMSI 970A-G43 RAM8GB G.Skill GPUAMD Radeon R7850 Core Edition CaseCMStorm Scout 2 Advanced Storage120 GB SSD Kingston / 1TB 3,5" PSUbe quiet! BQT E9 Straight Power Display(s)2 Acer 24" LED CoolingARCTIC Freezer 13 KeyboardLogitech G710+ MouseLogitech G500s SoundOnboard Operating SystemWindows 7 Home Premium 64Bit So the main things I do with my Computer is playing Video games and I was thinking about upgrading it for GTA V and The Witcher 3. I want to play this games on Ultra Settings or at least on High Settings. Another game I usually play i League of Legends where i want to record my games for practice purposes and sometimes I even stream. So this should be the things I want to do with the Computer and right now it's not working as I want to. The thought about upgrading my GPU into an Asus GTX 970 Strix Upgrading my RAM into 16gb The thing Im most concerned about is my CPU Is it enough to Overclock it? If it is enough should I buy a new cooling system like H100i from Corsair? or should I maybe upgrade it into an Intel i7 4790K? Or are there any other processors worth buying? Wich motherboard should I take with the Intel processor? Im looking forward hearing your opinions.

I have got a MSI r9 290x lightning edition. And I want to buy a processor within 190 bucks. I am willing to buy fx8320 but will it bottleneck my graphics card???? Or should I buy fx8350 or any other processor??

Hello everyone, It seems I got my tax refund and I might have enough money for a CPU upgrade. I have just enough cash to be somewhere inbetween a AMD FX 8300 and a 8320. Intel is not an option since I allready have a motherboard for the CPU, a decent air cooler and I'm fixed on a FX cpu. The FX 8350 is outside of my budget. The 8320E might fit, but I'm not considering it since it's even weaker than the 8300 at the same TDP. As I understand, they are the same; the differences beeing the base clock (multiplier changed!) and the stock voltage (8300 beeing undervolted to gain a lower TDP). Here are some comparisons, the 8300 vs the 8320: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-FX-8320-vs-AMD-FX-8300 http://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/compare_cpu-amd_fx_8300-224-vs-amd_fx_8320-225 http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/303/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8300_vs_AMD_FX-Series_FX-8320.html What do you say, better getting an FX 8300 or an FX 8320? Reasons and suggestions? http://strawpoll.me/4731752 The board supports both (Asus M5A97 R2.0 Evo), both of them support 1866MHz memory (my RAM is 1866 by default, Kingston HyperX Fury) and my cooler has a rating of 180W TDP (an LC-CC-120, almost like an CM hyper 212 Evo) - should also enable some overclocking (I hope arround 4.5 GHz).

I hit between 32-40 just web surfing and its very jumpy go 32 then 40 then 35 then 41 ect is this normal temps? what should my temp be sat on the desktop doing nothing? and what should temp be when playing games? can u recommend a program to use to test my CPU temps under full load? i did just tighten the screws on the CPU with my hand i did this as i didn't want to flex my board or anything like that or should i just use a screw driver to tighten them all the way also used pea size CM IC Essential E2 thermal paste

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Ashifkillz/saved/q8sscf This is my build, I'm about 3 - 5 weeks to building this. This is my first ever desktop, I've been with my old laptop for as long as I can remember. Please check if the power supply will be enough to run the rest of the pc while at peak power. I'm planning to use this for a lot of gaming which will for sure run the parts at peak at times so I was wondering if the 600 watt power supply I have on it will hold. Would I be able to OC my cpu and gpu on this psu? If not both which single one would I be able to do? Please don't suggest an SSD, that is coming in 3 months when I need to have my summer upgrade.

I have a PC planned out, I'm at the final stages of editing the build, its a super tight budget of 1k including tax The place where I'm stuck is do I want fx 6300 with r9 290 or fx 8320 with r9 280x? Will the fx 6300 slow the r9 290 down or limit it in anyway? This is my first ever pc build so I dont know too much on which parts should go with what. Please dont recommend any parts that are more expensive than what I have because these builds are right at the edge of the budget The links to by build thoughts are http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Ashifkillz/saved/24RH99 http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Ashifkillz/saved/q8sscf Fortunately for the 280x build I am able to use a good card from gigabyte, their rev 3 of the windforce. As for the 290 build I can only use the cheaper Asus one, I heard it has heating problems for some people. A bit of thoughts on the Asus card would be nice too. The mobo seems to be okay for me, but could someone make sure that its a decent one? Thanks!
