Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade my Sapphire 7970 Dual x. I'm still rocking 1080p, the 7970 is doing quite fine, but it's starting to show its age. FYI, I have an i5-4670k on a Z87-D3HP. Now, I've narrowed it down to the 980ti, 1070 and FuryX, All 3 of them are around the 450 euro mark(including shipping). As games are becomig more demanding, I think that none of the above cards are "overkill" for 1080p, and I like a bit of future-proofing. Now, do you think that thr 4GB vram of the fury be a bottleneck? Since HBM is more efficient on higher resolutions(correct me if i am wrong). The 6GB/8GB of the 980ti/1070 is enough i believe, but what are your thoughts between the 2? Help me decide between the 3 please, unless there's another card that you believe it suits me better! Thanks, AJ. PS: Not really related to the above, but I'm also moving my pc into a computer desk, similar to the one Linus is currently building, let me know what you think of it(see attached photo)

Ok so i was choosing a GPU i'd buy for myself as of now mainly for photorealistic rendering using cycles (blender), but also gaming. On our local (russian) shop i found some cards that fit in my budget of about 30k rubles (about 500 usd) : A bunch of different 8gb rx580ies each for about 29k rub (~470-490 usd); A bunch of different gtx 1070ies starting at 31k rub (510+ usd); A Fury X for only 29k rub (~480usd) (!). And i guess when the vega 56 is coming out it isnt going to be anywhere near these numbers so thats that. So I was of course amazed at how cheap the Fury X is, considering in rendering it almost is on par with the 1080, but what got me thinking about whether to buy it or not was the fact it had only 4gb of HBM VRAM, which is fine i guess but MIGHT not be enough? This is the question basically. Do i take the Fury X for THAT price, is 4gb enough for 1080p 60fps gaming, or is it worth waiting for the vega 56 to launch AND drop price? Oh and im kinda scared of watercooling, is that safe? Like, wont it leak?

Hi all, I need some help. My 8GB Kingston Hyper FURY X kit is only showing up as 4GB, I moved which slots the RAM was in to no avail.

I've been looking at a new fury x to crossfire with my 280x and i have been looking around some sores say that they have to be the same series like r7 and r9 which means it would be possible but then some sources say they have to be the same GPU which isn't possible because the fury x is Fiji but the 280x is like Tonga so I'm lost plz help.

So ignoring the performance, does anyone else think that the Fury X is a tad ugly? The unaligned Radeon text doesn't help either. I own a 980ti, bought it before the Fury X came out. I would totally buy a Fury X in hindsight had it been out AND if the cooler wasn't so ugly. If AMD had allowed AIB partners to make their own coolers I would be all over that.

Hey guys, Recently i put together my first gaming rig after weeks and weeks of research. Firstly, the chosen hardware can be found at the bottom of my post. So to get right into it, after about a week of playing on my new rig i ran into a slight issue, being the well known "usable ram" shown in the "control panel" under "system". As you can see by my hardware i have installed 2 DIMMS of 4gb Kingston HyperX 1866 ram, yet my issue is that control panel recognizes the full 8gb of ram but only tells me that 3.95gb are usable. I believe this issue cam up right after a windows update, but i cannot say exactly when it showed up. Let me walk you through all of the possibilities of potential issues that i went over in order to figure out what the problem is. (I am currently on holiday, and not with the pc, so i will not be able to provide screen shots as proof for a week or so) I made sure that my OS system is 64 bit. (Windows 10 home 64 bit) Took out, and re-seated the ram sticks properly in the located dual channel DIMM slots as shown by my mother board (msi 970 gaming) manual. Took out the CPU, and placed it back to make sure that there are no damaged or bent pins. (Did this without a magnifying glass) Made sure that the CPU cooler isnt over tightened, as to not be bending the motherboard and potentially interfering with the CPU and memory connection. Took the motherboard out of the case, and placed it back in to make sure that it isn't being grounded to the case where it isn't supposed to be. Checked that the BIOS properly recognizes the memory sticks in their allocated dual channel slots. Manually set all of the memory speeds and voltage in the bios. Ran MemTest for about 5-6 hours (i know it isn't enough, and that Linus suggests at least 24 hours) with all passes. Took out the cmos battery numerous times to reset the bios. Used a screw driver to reset the bios by shortening out the two JAB1 pins(if i remember their code name correctly), since msi forgot to give me the little socket that you put over pins to short them out. Went into msconfig and made sure that the "Max memoy" check box is cleared. [uPDATE] Reinstalled the OS Tried different ram stick in different slots, all are working. These are pretty much the 11 solutions i found on the internet that others potentially used to fix the usable memory problem. My case how ever is very interesting. I can say that i am almost certain that my computer makes use of the full 8gb of ram as opposed to the 3.95gb that control panel claims to be useful. (CPU-z recognizes both of the ram stick in the slot that they are in, as well as the full memory). Take a look at the following results: one stick of ram (1x4gb, usable memory according to control panel = 4gb) Fire Strike score is over 5k two sticks of ram (2x4gb, usable memory according to control panel = 3.95gb) Fire Strike score is over 6k This is when i began to get an idea of what might be going on. The idea that there might a sort of "communication" problem between the motherboard and OS. A problem where the motherboard isn't happy with the HyperX ram. And that's when i found the following document: http://msi.com/file/test_report/TR10_3193.pdf The ram i have bought simply isn't on the list of, what msi claims to be compatible ram with the msi 970 gaming motherboard. So after my very long rant, here is my question; Has anyone out there come across a ram compatibility issue like this? Or perhaps more importantly, do you think this could be the problem at all? That msi simply believe the said HyperX isn't completely compatible with the mobo so small issues appear like recognition of the full ram, whilst all of the ram is actually being utilized. I'm having this issue with the display port connection only. Works on HDMI ( obviously no freesync ) This is the issue im talking about. Happens when fps is above 100 or more. Tested with FireStrike and did not occur, since i didnt have fps above 100. http://i.imgur.com/QOcXKCU.jpg i used to have a black screen followed by no signal on black ops 3 with the same freesync problem.

I read the sticky and followed all the steps and now I think I qualify for my own thread. my build: MOBO: Intel DZ77SL-50K GPU: sapphire R9 270X 4GB new GPU: ASUS R9 Fury X CPU: Intel I3-3220 PSU: Corsair RM750 RAM: 4X4GB Corsair vengeance wifi adaptor and sound PCI cards So here is my story, I bought a Fury x this week, when I installed it and powered on, the pump started and the radeon logo lit up, not sure if anything appeared on my monitor, the motherboard started to beep and I panicked and powered off the system(I would assume it was three beeps, saying that there was no graphics adapter but I'm not sure). after that I don't think that the system would even POST. Then I swapped the GPU back for the 270 which acted strange, I would press the power button and the system would spin up for a few seconds then click off, and it would take 2-3 attempts to boot. All seemed well so I swapped back the fury, no POST. I could boot with the iGPU but only if the fury was disconnected. so i decided to update my BIOS, it would boot with iGPU or 270x but not the fury. The next day the computer wouldn't POST at all, I removed everything; drives, ram, all expansion cards. I tried it with a different PSU and tested my RM750 on another pc which worked fine. I tested the Fury on another PC which was mostly fine(the pre BIOS page was all corrupted looking). I have tried clearing the CMOS, changing the BIOS jumper and rearranging the RAM. The only thing that happens now is when you press the power button the fans spin for about 1/2 - 1 seconds then a red LED flicks and then everything turns off then tries again a few seconds later. if I hold the power button then the system powers on and beeps at most 7 times(also 4 or 5, probably others) then turns off, there is no reference to this beep code in any documentation. Is she dead? and if so can I extract the licence for windows(win 7 64 OEM)? tl;dr PC won't POST with fury X, now won't POST at all

Hi fellas, I've got 2 main questions here: Would a FuryX (liquid cooled, not a Nano) fit into my Corsair 760T? I've got a Noctua NH-D14 so, it takes a lot of space and I was wondering if any FuryX would fit there, the case fan is very near the Noctua so there isn't much space, I wouldn't mind taking the case fan if the GPU fits in there but I would like to know if it would fit even if I take off the side fan of the case. The second and main question: Next summer or a little bit earlier (may) I'm going to replace my GPU (GTX 970 G1) due to a 4K screen that I'll be during that time, so the question is simple, which GPU should I get? I was thinking of one of these 3: -Saphire R9 Fury X -Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming -Gigabyte R9 Fury X The thing is that I don't know if there's any differences between the gigabyte or saphire version of the FuryX, the saphire is a lot cheaper but I prefer the looks of the gigabyte one. The objective is to play at a 4K res at 60Hz, I know none of these is capable of managing that on ultra in every game, that's Ok I can do 45 fps at ultra or 60 at high settings. The most demanding games I have are: -Assassins Creed Unity -GTA V -The Witcher 3 -Batman Arkham Knight -Fallout 4 -Assassins Creed Syndicate -Watchdogs -Dragon Age Inquisition -Project Cars -Asseto Corsa I know NVIDIA have better drivers and mostly are more optimized, but the 980 Ti G1 I've seen 4K benchmarks and some temps in game reach 85 degrees while the FuryX reaches a maximum of 65 (liquid cooling) and the performance difference is just about 6 fps at best, so right now I think I'm going for the FuryX, also it's smaller. Another concern I have is that I do a lot of video editing at resolutions from 480p to 4K, so I would also like a hint on which one would perform better, I use the following softwares: -DVD Fab -Sony Vegas -Core Pinacle -Adobe Premiere Pro -Adobe After Efects -Avid Media Composer My budget is about 650€ (which is 680$) because I can get the GPU without taxes (in my country is 21%) so including taxes, my budget is about 750€ which is about 780$ So what do you think here guys?

Today on NCIX.com, the FuryX listings for Powercolor and Club3D were updated with images. Gigabyte's listing still remains imageless, but that should change soon as these cards "launch" tomorrow, with NDA lifting at this time. As you can see, the variety of different coolers is a breath of fresh air /s. Of interest is the minimum power supply requirement: 500W. Does a 500w power supply with 2x8-pin pci-e connectors exist? (probably, I just don't know off hand) It appears that the fan of all places is where these companies decided to place their branding (or as some have pointed out, shopped the image). Hopefully the stickers are centered properly to avoid fan wobble. It should go without saying that all FuryX cards are reference design only. The non-x Fury is supposed to have custom boards/cooling however. http://www.ncix.com/detail/powercolor-r9-fury-x-1050mhz-c0-110441.htm http://www.ncix.com/detail/club3d-radeon-fury-x-1050mhz-cd-110467.htm Newegg.ca http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202155 Sapphire at Hardware Zone Singapore (pricing in Singapore Dollars) http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/hardware-clinic-2/%5Bgpu-review%5D-sapphire-amd-r9-fury-x-rise-5087633.html courtesy of @Mulsanne

Hi guys, I'm looking to build a new system soon and planning to go with a mATX build in the Corsair Air 240. I'm planning to get the new AMD Fury X which has a 120mm radiator. Was just wondering would there be any issues installing another 120mm AIO cooler for my CPU in the front 240mm slot? Planning to get a H80i for the CPU, I know the dimensions for the Fury X rad aren't out yet but as just wondering if any Air 240 owners have had any success/problems install 2x 120mm rads in the front. Thanks

Hello, I was wondering if anyone know about any AMD Fury, and Fury X reviews / benchmarks in Windows 10. Know that Win10 is out I would like to see any performance gains if any are to be found, and if there are any I hoping to find a whole new Red vs Green show down. If not how do we get on started? Ps: Sorry if there is already a posting asking this. I did a search, and couldn’t find one.

I was just thinking about the R9 FuryX and why it only has 4GB of VRAM. The benchmarks seem to show it performs best when playing at 4K resolution, otherwise, it is (very slightly) behind the 980Ti. I think this could be because, they expect those who are going after 4K to Cross Fire the cards, which makes sense. This is because, with DirectX12, the VRAM of multiple cards will be added together. So more may not be necessary. Now, one could argue that there are benefits for having 6GB of VRAM for things like heavily modded Skyrim but at this point price becomes a factor. Currently the FuryX can compete with the 980Ti as it is similarly priced, has similar performance and runs a bit cooler. If they did add the extra VRAM, it wouldn't affect the benchmarks as much and it would drive up the cost, potentially decreasing the sales. I think, based on this, AMD made the right decision to go with 4GB. I just hope Cross Firing 2 cards doesn't result in vertical screen tearing.

Greetings, I am having a few problems with my new workstation, usually only occurs while I am on the desktop or on the internet. Symptoms: Screen begins artifacting all over(only the active area, explained shortly), green vertical lines keep dancing around. the resolution changes from the 2560x1080 to something closer to 2560x700 (dont know exactly) the usable space does not extend down to the bottom right and left corners, cuts out about a third of the screen (lower third). When I go into resolution by right clicking on the desktop, the reported resolution is 1920x1080. which cant be right since it is not using my full vertical resolution, but it is saturating my horizontal resolution. Anyways I can stop the artifacting and make everything return to normal by opening a full screen program (i have unigine valley on my desktop so that is my go to program since it boots relatively quick + it is fast enough to get out of again). I am using HDMI but my monitor also supports Display port, I am thinking about switching to DP but i was going to consult the forum and see if anyone else had any ideas. What do you think? A monitor issue? A GPU issue? A HDMI issue? system specs: i7 5820k 16GB crucial ram MSI x99 SLI plus MOBO AMD Fury X [EDIT: using latest drivers updated this morning] Adata 256GB ssd some 1TB HDD EVGA supernova psu? 850Watts monitor is LG 25UM55 Thanks

Hi guys, I am currently running a 7970 crossfire setup and looking to get a 3440x1440 60hz display soon. Is it worth selling my current cards and upgrading to a GTX 980/980ti or 390x/Fury X? Thanks

I bought a sapphire R9 Fury OC edition (its the air cooled variant) and i cant get it to post any sort of video. iv'e tried the usual being different cables, monitors, and pcie slots but still nothing. my drivers are up to date and i even reinstalled them so im completely lost on why it wont post. But the thing is i put the fury in my friends build and it worked fine so that ruled out it being doa. i swapped his 7970 in my build and it also worked fine so the fury only doesn't work in my build. please help My current build System CPUIntel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E MotherboardGIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4 LGA 2011 RAMG.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB GPUSAPPHIRE 100379OCSR Radeon R9 Fury CaseCorsair Carbide Series 400R StorageSeagate Barracuda 1TB (x2) PSUEVGA PS 1000w V1 80 PLUS Platinum Display(s)ASUS VS24AH-P CoolingCORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Keyboardsuper cheap one MouseLogitech G600 Soundcustom one pro Friends build System CPUi5 3570k MotherboardMSI H61M-E33/W8 LGA 1155 RAMKingston HyperX Blu 8GB GPU Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 CaseCorsair 200R StorageWD Black 500GB, Seagate Barracuda 2TB PSUantec HCG-850M Display(s)LG 23EA53V-P CoolingCORSAIR H50 KeyboardMicrosoft Desktop 400 5MH-00001 MouseLOGITECH G600

Hi guys Every video I have watched on youtube always says that if you're building an editing machine that you should go with Nvidia. Does this go with game development too? I'm using unity and I have found nowhere saying "Increased performance with Cuda" or something like that. Not that unity is very demanding, but I just wanted to check with you wise people. Also, the cards in mind right now are furyX vs. 980ti. Kindly Regards Michael
