Hi everyone, I have been asked to put together a new PC for a friend of mine, who is intending to play Flight Simulator X (FSX) on it. Seeing that that software is now 10 years (?) old, I am not sure what hardware to pick. I know that FSX is very CPU demanding (uses single core, high clockrate) and its a 32bit piece of software (might be relevant for choice of RAM?). He is running a bit of custom scenery and aircraft addons, mainly PMDG. He is in need of everything, including mouse, keyboard, screen, ... except the yoke. Budgetwise, we are somewhat flexible, but he doesnt like spending more than he has to. Location is Luxemburg (Europe). I am grateful for any input regarding this, also if you have made your own experiences recently thanks for sharing those with me. Cheers, Max Edit: 1080p !

In FSX, are there any freeware/payware mods that allow you to put wheel chocks and tie downs on, say, the default C172? Need some more realism!

I've got FSX Deluxe, and my first 4 save-games are showing up, and can be loaded. But any other game that I save doesn't show up at all! In the "Flight Simulator X Files", I was able find the actual .FLT, .WX, etc. files of my save-games, and they're pretty intact (no visible corruption)! I wonder what the problem might be... Thanks!

I am looking to build a system for Flight Simulation. I am from Turkey but I am open to recommendations in USD, EUR, and TRY. I use P3D and FSX. I need a system that can deliver 120FPS on the software. I have a 21.5" Monitor, and I don't feel like replacing it. The case should have at least 4 USB 2 or 3 Ports. Thanks

About a year or 2 ago I bought the Hp Envy 700 series. The specs is a I7-4790 @ 3.6GHz with a (don't laugh at me) a 2gb GTX 645, 12gb DDR4 Ram (1x 8gb, 1x 4gb). No clue what the motherboard is but it has a decent power supply (I can't remember exactly what the power supply wattage is but it's either at least 450 but I think it's 550 watts). So I was researching about upgrading this model because I got this computer when I was more of a console gamer and played on the computer for Minecraft or CSGO neither of which needs hefty cards. Now I am playing Flight Simulators such as X-Plane and FSX (Flight Simulator X) and varies other titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Black Ops 3, American Truck Sim and more. Im right now in desperate need of an upgrade so I was debating either building my own PC or upgrading this one. I chose upgrading this one because this computer has so much potential and i don't think it would sell well because of the graphics card. Now when i opened up my PC for the first time in a while the main thing i noticed is just how small and compact everything was and I knew if i bought RX 480 or a 1060 that I would not have enough space to put it in. So i decided to go online and search for a small card and i found this https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10600A-10L/dp/B01IA9FEOO . I really don't know if I should buy this card because of all around just how little I know about pc's. Also if this would run flight sim and all of my other games at 1080p extreme res 60fps at least so could you help me out if you find a better option for a graphics card? (keep in mind Nvidia cards are better for flight sim)

Hi guys, So I started playing some FSX yesterday, and the first plane I wanna tackle is the base FSX-model of the Beechcraft King Air 350. I've managed to figure some things out already by reading some of the learning center manuals, but its a bit too 'high-level' for me. a.k.a I need more in depth explanation. I know LTT has some FSX pro's and I'm hoping one of you will point me in the right direction as to where I can find some good guides, vids, tutorials etc. to better understanding how planes work, particularly all the jargon, cockpit instruments and navigation stuff. My own Google searches haven't delivered very promising results.

So. Me and my buddy at the other side of the world tweak each others games via Teamviewer and have great fun with it. Recently my friend got Microsoft Flight Simulator X Steam edition. And I am a flight sim enthusiast and I am trying to bring him into this. He has a decent build with a GTX 960 and... Em.. AMD CPU. 4.3Ghz (Not sure) (He's asleep right now) I tweaked FSX's in game settings and maxxed out every single thing in game. Got around 40 FPS with every one of those settings maxxxxxxed out! And he was shocked at the quality difference! So. Then I went into his Nvidia Control Panel. Chose FSX and edited all the settings in there associated with the GPU. Put anti aliasing on 8x, turned Vsync on and some other stuff. But then when we went into FSX we were getting 10-16 FPS which SUCKED! So we reverted all settings back to the way they were before and left in game settings maxxed out. And behold. No god damn difference from those 10-16 FPS... Dammit. We should be getting 40 FFS! Anyone to be our savior? Please. You can donate to saving the panda ads on TV right after this. The pandas will live. Trust me. Just give me a solution! I need this for when he wakes up... And I am kinda stressed out that he might get mad at me and blame me for fucking up his FSX. HEELP <3

Hey! Just need suggestions for what aircraft to beef up my FSX library with... links for downloads would also be appreciated. Also, any freeware that improves graphics? I don't want to pay $60 AUD just for nice trees ;3;

Hi, My school is building a flight simulator for a project and we need to decide on a graphics card to power the main PC. We are testing using FS-X and a custom simulation program is in development running on Unreal 4.0. We are looking around the 950-70/370-390 range I think, as budget is relatively restricted but if we can show that we need it funding may be increased. We are currently using a borrowed 760 and 3 lower resolution displays which runs ok. -If we were to run 3x 1080x1720 monitors what would we need? -How about 3x 1080x2560 monitors? -Is this at all realistic or do we need to scale down our ideas for displays to a single 1080x2560 or similar?

howdy yall ! I have a problem here. I need to build a flight simulator. but thats ok. all I need is a computer to run it ! the computer will be running this : flight simulator X with graphic mods if possible. possibly up to 6 real time flight instruments 3 monitors (for now they are 3:4 something res.. but lower than 1080p..) but that is subject to change... depends on the budget I get. I need a full computer. and I want to buy used to get as much as possible. I can (and will) overlclock cpu gpu and ram. so yeah ! what kind of parts should I be looking for ? for the cpu.. will a Q6600 be enough for all of that ?

Problem: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SSC ACX 2.0 not bringing out max performance while playing Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Acceleration. Attachments: FSX is a DirectX 9 application; My CPU is Intel Core i7-4790. My GPU drivers are up to date. I HAVE PROVEN THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY GPU DRIVERS. My recent GeForce GT 720 brings out BETTER FSX in-game performance and experience than this GTX 960. Does not make sense, right? My PerformanceTest (videocardbenchmark.net) on graphics reveals better graphics performance than average GTX-960-based GPU benchmark scores, also multiple times of MAGNITUDES better than my GT 720 card. Sometimes the GPU clock is stuck at somewhere like 1053MHz according to EVGA Precision X, while sometimes it overclocks successfully. The way FSX FPS behaves is that it is attempted to be locked at somewhere like 60 fps, 30 fps, 20, or even 15 fps. It's also dynamic. An example of dynamic is that when I am in the air with less graphic elements, the FPS tends to be more than usual, and the game tries to lock the framerate at 60 fps. When I am on the ground with more graphics elements, it tries to lock at 30 fps; all of these happen when the in-game fps target is "Unlimited". I can see that the framerate is jumping with numbers very close to one of these FPS numbers. With the previous GT 720 (OEM btw) I can see fps coming up with random numbers from 64 all the way up to 274. There was no limits. Since the PerformanceTest reveals such positive results, I suspected my FSX installation. I uninstalled all the addons and reinstalled FSX, but the issue stays the same. What could be possibly wrong with the GPU? How can I achieve the framerate better than GT 720 while the GTX 960 works under full load? Side note: I also tried Prepar3d (Which is DirectX 11) and found out that on Prepar3d it performs better than GT 720, but not that much; the DirectX 9 test and DirectX 11 in PerformanceTest revealed great results, over 5 times better than the GT 720 card according to the score, so in theory the GTX 960 would perform DirectX 9 and 11 better than GT 720. May 24 Updates: I realized I need better headline to attract attention. I have experienced minor coil whine during the initial segments of 3DMark test, but it disappeared afterwards. During the 3DMark tests, the test aborted and presented me with this message: Unexpected error running tests. Workload work failed with error message: eva::d3d11::rendering::deferred_scene_renderer::render(): draw_unshadowed_illumination_task for thread 0: File: device_context.cpp Line: 818 Function: struct ID3D11CommandList *__cdecl eva::d3d11::deferred_device_context::do_finish_command_list(bool) Expression: native()->FinishCommandList( restore_deferred_context_state, &result): DX11 call failed [-2005270522]. Yes I totally ripped that off the car thread, please don't run after me with pitchforks @techswede kthx. We all know why we're here, we spend countless hours flying the skies in FSX. Welcome. This is the first dedicated Flight Simulator X thread I've seen here, so hopefully we can get it rolling and gather more members and the days go on. Anything FSX related is welcome, probably P3D too because it's based off FSX. If you've got any ideas or topics to discuss go ahead and voice them because there's nothing better than friendly discussion! @User1868 @JustChilling @JefferyEagan @ if you all would like to help start this, here you go.

Here is a list of problems I have started to encounter once I switched to WIndows 10: - Aircraft models will not load on home screen - FSX will only run in windowed mode (I have two monitors and when I try running it in full screen mode it just flashes images from the game and a black screen) - Random crash

I've just installed Windows 10 fresh on my system and I installed the couple-year-old FSX via DVDs on my system. Problem is, I see the game only using about 3 to 10% of the gpu power, while gpu usage is still the normal 99%. Obviously, I'm getting only 30 to 50 fps and it's pissing me off. I installed both service pack 1 and service pack 2 for fsx and it did little to help, although the game did run a little more smooth (around 60fps) using only 10% of the gpu power.Can anyone help me? I have a feeling that it has to do with Windows 10 and directX 12. By the way, I'm running a GTX 750 Ti

Hello, I´m looking for a Graphics Card Solution for running up to 6 1080p Monitors. The setup would be either 1x triple surround + 3x individual monitors or 2x triple surround setups. The setup should deliver a good price/performance ratio. I thought of 2x 970 SLI or a single 980 with a TripleHead2go? I guess any Z97 motherboard will be fine? As the computer will mainly be used to run Microsoft FSX, AMD isn´t an option for CPU or GPU, so please limit to nVidia + Intel solutions. Thanks for your help!!!

Hi, I'm relatively new to the forums, and I'm about to build my second computer. I have all the parts picked but one. I will be using this computer for X-Plane 10 and FSX, so please take that into consideration. The title says it all. Although there are a few things. I could go with the 770 2GB or 4GB. I could go with the 960 2GB or 4GB. Whatever one I get, I will eventually buy another one to run in SLI. My budget for this build is $1,000. I did very light research on both of these cards, but I want some opinions. P.S. I love the Titan cooler look, so if it's 50/50 I would go with the 770's just for looks. And also, feel free to voice your opinion on my build. SPECS: CPU: i7-4790K RAM: 2x8GB 1866 HyperX Fury MOBO: Asus Sabertooth Z97 MARK1 GPU: Undecided PSU: 850W (yes thats overkill, but I'm keeping an open-mind for upgrade purposes) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro Storage: Already have. 512GB. 1TB.

Hi Guys, i play fsx i don't usually get a constant 30 fps but i get enough to get by. Recently i have noticed my frames have dropped significantly down to 7 fps. I am not sure if it is a driver problem or what but i need help please. If anyone can help me fix the problem and even help me to get more fps generally that would be appreciated. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/3p8ndC I am an avid FSX flight simmer and looking to upgrade my computer. I am currently running an Alienware M14x R1 so it's getting a bit outdated. I'm not sure if there are many simmers on this forum but a couple things. First, AMD is unfortunately not an option for FSX, graphics cards or proccesors so Intel and Nvidia are where I am going. Something about the new AMD drivers screwing up stuff. My budget is $1500 dollars including my screen and OS but I am willing to go over a bit if need be. FSX is a very proccesor heavy application but I think the i5 should be able to handle it. I was going to go with the 4770K but it just doesn't really fit into my budget. Also, I do play other games such as Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty Mw3 etc. so I was originally looking at the GTX 780 becaue of it's supremacy over the 770 but again it didn't really fit my budget. FSX was written as a 32 bit application which means it can only adress 3-4 Gigs of RAM. Umm, other than that, I am open to all suggestions! Thanks!! Oh btw the link on the top is what I am currently looking at and I don't plan on purchasing this until the end of August so if Broadwell is out by than I might want to switch for that?? Thanks again!

A new build has been completed! My client is a hardcore FSX pilot and wanted a PC that could handle 3 1920 x 1080 monitors with realism mods, HD textures, etc. His budget was $1600. So, I did my homework and studied up on FSX. Seems to be a very picky program. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy the video! I'm trying to make a name for myself on YouTube, so every bit of support you guys can give helps very much! What I learned about FSX, in case any one cares. FSX favors nvidia cards ( something about AMD's drivers no longer increasing performance on older programs. FSX was released in 2006 ) FSX doesnt like SLI, ( seen no real evidence, but everything I've read seems to support this theory. Some people say SLI made their FSX run slower with SLI than on just one card alone. ) RAID causes FSX to become very fragmented across multiple drives, hindering load times drastically. FSX is a very CPU bound program, hence why I only went with a 770 instead of a 780. Specs: Case- Corsair Obsidian 350D Mobo- Asus gryphon z87 w/ armor kit ( sexy ;) ) CPU- Intel i5-4670k @ 3.4 ghz CPU Cooler- Cooler master Hyper 212 Evo RAM- 2 x 8gb 1600mhz Corsair Vengeance ( LP ) ( Client insisted on 16gb, even though I personally didnt see it necessary. But hey, makes for a more interesting build. ) GPU- EVGA GTX 770 SC w/ ACX cooling (also sexy!) w/ 4gb frame buffer to handle the multi-monitor setup PSU- Corsair TX750M (Yes, I'm a Corsair fanboy. Sponsor me? :wub: ) SSD- Adata 256gb Sata III (550mb/s read, 530mb/s write) Optical- LG Blu-Ray burner OS- WIndows 7 Pro ( I got Pro to accommodate for future ram upgrades as Home Premium only detects up to 16gb )

I would like to get some advice as to what graphics card(s) I should get for my PC. I have a budget of about $300 give or take $75. So far I have one monitor and have plans on adding one more for a total of two. I am mainly interesting in flight simulation and watching movies. I currently have Flight Simulator X and would like to have a graphics card that is compatible with FSX. Here is a link to the specs of my computer: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2aHRS I have since added a couple of hard drives. I had thought about using a GTX770 but I saw the review of the Asus GTX750ti posted by Linus today. What would be better in my situation. Two GTX750ti? One GTX770? Or a totally different card? This is my first build so if I could get some pointers as to the brand of card would be best; that would be great. I would like some advice....
