So my odyssey kinda started when my Logitech G933 Headset died and my quest for a new headset began. I tried a few wireless ones until i bought the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 and am super happy now. I had my Logitech z506 5.1 system plugged to my fractal design define r5 back panel audio jacks and my headset (Beyerdynamic MMX 300) to my front panel audio jacks. Headphone and mic have a separate 3.5 mm jack. At the beginning, everything was okay. My asus rog crosshair hero vi wifi-ac seems to have a good enough sound chip to power my 32 ohm headset. The issues then started a few days in. I was in discord with a few friends and suddenly my sound (what i hear through the headphones) was transfered over my mic to discord and my friends. I then muted my mic on the inline remote of my headset cable and still sound was transported. Even stranger, if i muted my microphone and my friends started talking, they could hear themselves through my microphone. It's like i put my device on loopback. After some more testing, it seems like audio is being transported through the cable even when i mute my mic. Muting mic on cable and knocking on cable led to windows picking up audio from my mic... I then plugged in my headset to the back panel audio jacks (unplugged my 5.1 system). The issues were gone. No echoing, loopback or any other strange issues. I then went on another mighty quest for epic external dacs/soundcards/whatever you call those devices. everyone said, get a soundblaster g6 so i got a soundblaster x3 instead, because it has 7.1 input on back, line in, mic+headphones on front and even an optical out. A few days later the quest for a dac was solved and i got my x3. everything was fine and all until the sound blaster command software (or how i call it: hellware) started torturing me with stupid hiccups, freezes, crashes and stuff. now back to my main story line: how do i get my front panel audio jacks insulated/schielded so i can just plug in my headset on the front and have fun? it's 2021 and i can't believe front panel audio jacks are just decoration and not good for actual use.

Hello I bought an RTX 3080 and a Ryzen 7 5700x today. Since I have a X370 i installed the most upto date Bios Version 6042 so the 5700x is supported. Then I uninstalled the GPU driver with DDU, put the new hardware in and started the computer again and installed the driver for the RTX 3080. On the first startup a TPM message popped up and i pressed No. Now with the new hardware in my Audio doesn't work anymore. My Realtek driver still detects when I plug my headphones in, but the audio symbol in the taskbar has a red X and says "no speaker or headphone plugged in". I already tried to reinstall the audiodrivers for the mainboard and restart the Windows Audio in the services, both tips found via google, but it doesn't help. Can someone help? I don't want to install my Windows fresh, I just had to do it 3 months ago because Win Updates wrecked my install. I just finishes downloading all my games and programms.

I just bought a new corsair case and my front panel audio not working as expected. Actually this is my 1st time testing this front panel audio because my old case not have one. When i connect my speaker to front panel audio, something like burst or crackling sound from one of my stereo speaker. An unusual burst loud sound coming out from it. The other side of my speaker working just fine. And I already test it on other motherboard that I have. Surprisingly it's working perfectly on my old motherboard. Did my motherboard that cause this kind of symptom? or others? MSI 970 AM3+ motherboard AMD FX6300 running on stock clock 3.5 Ghz GTX 750 Ti EVGA G2 650Watt *sorry for my bad english

So, I was sitting here tonight on my fairly new PC watching some YouTube. My headphones have an extra long cable. I am not exactly sure what happened but it yanked out with a pretty heavy tug, and when I plugged the headphones back in, I got only one channel of audio. I thought "Oh, great. Now my studio headphone cable is ruined (it's detachable). I decided to make sure of this by plugging into my iPad, and it registered fine both channels working. I noticed the headphone jack on my PC has no "click" and just slips in. I assume I did something to it. Is there any way this can be resolved without having to use the back panel audio, which is annoying to get to since I have a full tower, or sending it to Phanteks. The case is Phanteks Enthoo Pro.

So I connected a pair of headphones to my computer to use as only a mic input. I don't have a port which allows me to use both mic and headphones at the same port, thus I connected my MAIN pair as my headphones input, and some other headphones lying around as a mic input. Problem is that when I connected these, "Some other pair of headphones" as a mic, the mic is within the earbud part, and not in the little controller part down below...this gives me significantly less audio output from the mic. When I connect these to another computer or PS4 the mic audio isn't taken from the earbud part. HOW CAN I FIX THIS! Or is it even a thing to fix? My System Spec: CPU- Intel Pentium G3258 4.0 GHz Overclocked GPU- Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 MSI Gaming 2G HDD- 2TB WD RAM- 8GB Corsair Vengeance Motherboard- ASUS H81M-C

I just got the cloud revolver's and I plugged them into my front panel audio and I'm not getting any sound. It's not the headphones, I tried them on something else, and my previous headphones weren't plugged into the front panel. I have the MSI B85-G41 and the define R4. Yes, the HD-audio cable is plugged in and Yes, the cable is securely plugged into the front panel. When I go to playback devices/Recording Devices neither the port for the speakers nor the port for the microphone show up in the devices listed, even in the ones that are not active. Any ideas? I just installed the realtek hd audio drivers for my motherboard, but that didn't help.

Firstly, to any mods: Feel free to move this to any section might fit better I built a system a week ago for a friend. Mobo is an Asus Z170 Pro Gaming and case is an R5. His frontpanel audio is not working and I am going to go to his house today to try and fix it. Any specific places where the error that causes this might have appeared? Are there known cases with DAO front panels on R5s? I think this is quite unlikely but can somebody tell me how exactly i would have to plug in the front panel audio on the mono pins. We used the manual when building but ... You never know. Is there anything to enable in the BIOS that we might have forgotten about? Just tell me what it might be so i have some kind of check list for this afternoon. Thanks for all your answers.

Greetings, I'm rather new to windows 8, and haven't figured out how to prioritize audio outputs yet. I have my speakers plugged in via rear audio, but I'd like for all audio to switch to my headphones when I plug them in via front panel audio, even with the speakers plugged in. As of now, apps like iTunes play off the speakers no matter what, although system sounds switch to the headphones. Can anyone help me configure my settings this way? Regards, Aereldor. UPDATE: Fixed the issue from within iTunes. For anyone facing the same problem- make sure the device you want to use whenever it's plugged in is set as 'Default audio' (right click on volume control>playback devices>select the device>make default). Then in iTunes, go to preferences>playback>play audio using:>select 'Direct Sound'. You'll need to restart iTunes for the change to come into effect.

So, there is a huge abundance of people asking about this or a very similar problem, with their headphones, earphones or speakers producing a buzzing/crackling sound with random pops thrown in. I am also having this problem, and after two, whole, weeks, I am still haunted by this crippling problem Browsing LTT, viewing YT videos and playing games are completely destroyed because I'm having to constantly unplug and re-plug in the cable(s), numerous times, and most time I just leave it out for about an hour and then try again. I have concluded that it is partially due to the video output, and the sound produced changes depending on what is on the screen, whether that is Chrome, my desktop background, or two different areas in a game. Though sometimes it follows a pattern, like, it will start when I play a video, or might stop when I plug in a USB and am greeted by the *device inserted sound*, but other times it jut starts randomly, well, at least it seems random. The sound even varies depending on what devices are plugged in, I don't feel like experimenting (again) and explaining the differences, but every time I unplug or re-plug in a device (K70 RGB/mic jack for Cloud) it will change slightly. I'm using my HyperX Cloud, but this problem also exists with my cheap-ass earphones that I have no idea where they came from. The monitors speakers seem to be excluded from this problem, as made evident when I unplug my headphones/earphones and the audio gets output from my monitors speakers without any distortion. I've tried many things, and I'll just list the basic ones here. - Using system outside of case - Using different PSU - Using different peripherals (from K70 RGB & MS-3 r2 to QuickFire Rapid and some wireless $20 mouse/kb combo) - Every possible combination of I/O, front and rear, even outside of case. I even tried a different system which included changing every damn part, but that was unsuccessful because for some reason any keyboard and mouse would not want to whatsoever. I have not tried booting in safe mode, but I don't see any benefit in doing so anyways. I'm not sure if this is relevant, but my K70 RGB keyboard also "malfunctions" every damn time I boot, it'll work for a bit, and then freeze. I think it is my motherboard, but, since my other system refuses to want to cooperate I am not 100%. If any of you guys have any ideas or information I'd gladly take it on board, and if you need to know anything else, feel free to inquire. Sorry for the long ass post, I always go ahead and ramble/add too much info. Cheers! Edit: If I have left something out, or seem to have put 0 effort into this post, it's because I'm just completely done with my PC, additionally I'm tired. Also, if you are wondering what my specs are, it's just in the spoiler in my sig below, bar the Havik 140, mounting screws have gone walkabout. And I have yet to install Windows on my 840 EVO, so it's just sitting on my desk collecting dust, I want to get this sorted before doing anything with it.

My friend bought a new PC, http://www.amazon.com/CybertronPC-Borg-709-GMBG70934BL-Desktop-Blue/dp/B00NC06ZF4 , and the computer thinks that it is outputting audio to them but it's not. he has them plugged in and set as default, and when he goes to sound he can see the bars the represent the volume of the audio output, but nothing is coming through. THanks

A few days ago, I tried to plug in my headphones into the front panel headphone jack on my Corsair 600T and it felt a little bit different while I was plugging it in (if that makes sense). There didn't seem to be an issue though, until I started listening to some music. Now whenever I plug in headphones into the port, I either: 1) Get an annoying buzzing sound on the left side but there's no audio output on either side unless I fiddle with the connection a little bit (turning the headphone connector a little or slightly loosening the connection) 2) Get an annoying buzzing sound on the left side and the right side works fine. If I fiddle around with the connection I can get both sides to work however that buzzing sound on one side is still persistent. I know it's not my headphones because they work fine on my phone and I had the same issue when I tested another pair of headphones. Ever since this issue started, when I do plug in my headphones, this little box pops up: ... Which takes me to the microphone properties, even though I'm plugging in headphones into the headphone port: I'm not too sure about how to go about fixing this issue, so any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Hi guys, I just built a new PC and the sound I am getting from the front connector is just atrocious. Sound is coming from both sides of my headphones, but it is very muffled and low-quality, and in music I can't even hear the vocals. Is this a hardware or software problem?

as the title says my front panel audio is not working and is not detected. i have checked and rechecked the connection to my mobo and it is firmly set in the socket. i have the newest driver installed from MSI's website (its the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver version 6.0.1.7037 right?). when i go to playback devices there is not headset icon, but when i roll back the driver to the previous version the icon appears, but still doesn't work. is there something im missing? ps. contacting MSI has proved pointless

Having issues with my front panel audio not being detected. It has been like this since I built my computer. I have checked all the of the connections and everything is plugged in properly. I have a MSI Z87-G45 mobo, case is Corsair 300r. I've run MSI LiveUpdate and all drivers are up to date. Does anyone know what the hell the problem could be? Side note: Yes the rear audio works fine and I could use a splitter for headphones/speakers, but i noticed it degraded the audio of my headphones while gaming. I hope someone can help me! This is annoying as shit!
