Summary France have told Apple to stop selling the iPhone 12 in their country, and may have to recall all sold models due to it allegedly emitting too much Electromagnetic Field Radiation, whilst the World Health Organisation state on their website that there is no evidence to show low level EMF is harmful to humans. Quotes My thoughts I think it's a bit silly to say it's emitting too much EMF. The iPhone 12 was the first to have 5G so it could be a defect with the manufacturing, as 5.74 watts does seem a lot, and the FCC state 1.6 watts per kilogram is too much. Are legal limits too low or are our devices emitting too much EMF? Is the iPhone 12 emitting more than newer models of the iPhone, or maybe even other smartphones? I am an architectural drafting student and for our last semester we have to design a mansion. My mansion is a chateau style and is called La Petite since it is on the smaller side for a mansion. We are required to have a logo for our house. I am really awful at Photoshop and don't have a lot of creativity when it comes to designing logos or even catchy names. Would someone be able to come up with a cool logo for my house? Something Frenchy! It needs to include the name "La Petite". It would also be really helpful to have a separate design for the page numbers (sorta like a box with the number in it). Thanks a lot! I can't wait to see the designs. *Even something simple like

Hello LTT Community I am searching for cheapest and best sound bar for a small room. I can't set up fancy 5.1 (or 9.1.4) setup and can't get a subwoofer because I am a loving neighbor caring for the acoustic well being of all around me (in the future when I will have an individual house and my den, I will get a giant sub... but no woofer now okay? :D). The sound coming from my screen is flat, non-immersive, distorted and not very precise (of course). It's not great for movie nights with my SO, even if she doesn't complain. I complain because I like good sound quality, I have always gotten my hands on great headphones or made myself some 4.1 or 5.1 sound systems for all of my setups. Now, I can't do it because I don't have the space and my SO would kill me (I have to settle down to headset and sound card). I still think she'd enjoy a small but good (and cheap) sound bar with virtual surround for our movie / tv nights. Anybody got an idea on how to make my movie / game / music nights better? Price wise, I'd be very happy for options under 100€ but I can push to 150€ or wait for new releases if needed. Thank you all and have a great day! Also, I am in France, so maybe all the products aren't available. I was thinking about a Vizio sound bar but I can't seem to find it

Hello LTT Forum! You know the drill, every time you buy a computer, you have a budget and then when you are finished... You only have 10 euros for a mouse and it's horrible because, even if there could be a "good enough" mouse for 10€, you never quite get it, or if you do, it breaks. I am still cheap but I search for a good mouse under 30€ in France. I spotted the G402 but it's already 39€ on amazon. What do I use the mouse for? FPS, MMO, RTS and Photoshop. Therefore, I like to be able to switch profiles on the go for different applications. I have this right now on my cheap mouse. I am not fond of RGB (sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry!) so if there is rgb or not, I am okay. I also happen to have big hands and don't seem to care about the weight of the mouse. I work on a mouse pad or on a table (no glass) and I am not susceptible to work on something else except hard plastic during my travels. I think I said everything, if really I can't find anything, I might go for the G402 but since I am not an experienced tech guy and I am sure there are some great mouse enthusiasts people willing to help and share their knowledge with me, I better start asking for you May you have a great day my dear people! Don't hesitate to leave some general advice on mouse or your favorite mouse if you use the same program as me! EDIT: What do you think about the tecknet? https://www.amazon.fr/TeckNet-précision-prograables-personnalisation-micro-coutateurs/dp/B00E64DTDQ/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1501619580&sr=8-13&keywords=omron+souris

Hello LTT forum! Here I am starting a new project: A multimedia windows 10 pc for my dad. I will go in more details but feel free to ask for more info if needed. Budget: 400 to 600 euros Location: France Aim: Multimedia windows 10 pc, not too loud preferably, capable of running Skyrim enhanced edition in good quality. See this computer as the one sitting in a bedroom desk which could be hooked up to a tv in front of the bed. To be used as a workstation for basic programs, few games and mostly internet and movies from the desk or bed. I don't have a preference for intel or ryzen. I have a slight preference for Nvidia. I know how to build computers but I don't feel easy giving a watercooled computer to my dad, given my budget (birthday gift) I am pretty sure I couldn't afford or need a good watercooled system anyway. I think an i5 core woumd be enough for his uses? With 8 or 16 gig ram? (he browse a lot of internet tabs at the same time and never close them). After, I have no clues. Peripherals: the price of the build doesnt include the screen, 2 small speakers, 2 bigger speakers for the tv screen, steam controller, keyboard and mouse. RGB : Sorry, no Rgb Here is the start of my project, it's not complete or professional. That's why I come here for help from you guys, to have fresh ideas and good results. I would need the rig to be complete for beginning of August. Thank you very much for the help. Tell me if I can provide more infos.

A friend and I are trying to choose a laptop for his brother whose old macbook broke, but I'm not that knowledgeable about laptops and so I wanted to ask here for some recommendations. So here's the info I have: - He is currently in France (not entirely sure where, but most likely in a rural area from what I know, so he may not have many shops nearby; however Amazon is obviously an option) - Budget is 800 euros top ideally, it's gonna be mostly for media so a fancy gaming laptop is not necessary as it's not gonna be used for gaming. - He seems to prefer smaller size so 13'' screen is good. - Optical drive is not necessary. - Battery life is important, he wants a laptop with good battery life. - Since he's mostly streaming (Netflix and such), storage doesn't seem all that important. - He doesn't really care if it's foldable (like those that kinda become tablets) so no need for that. I mention the budget was 800 euro at most but to be honest there may be good laptops for like 500 considering the main important things would be battery life, and I assume a 1080p screen, which for 13'' should look pretty good for watching stuff on Netflix. So TL;DR: what's the laptop with best battery life for under 800 Euro, for watching Netflix (in France). Do please give recommendations of different prices rather than just the best that happens to be just under 800, I want him to have options of different prices.

Hello, I am building a new rig for my SO in the Lian Li O11 PCMR Edition (hopefully with the Uni Fans if I can get my hands on them! and ordered a Gigabyte 3080 gaming) As it will be a nice build (and quite visible in the living room!) I would like to use custom PSU extension cales. I found a few international shops shipping to France (CableMods, BeyondCustom, Pexon) but I was wondering if there are any local (ideally France but Spain, Italy, Germany, generally EU shops are good too) recommended. Hoping some of you will be able to help me out

Source BBC: As a Samsung Note8 owner I am as concerned about 'planned obsolescence' as anyone. I don't want to see electronics waste mountains in Africa. I don't want to artificially be throwing away a good device simply because the battery needs replacing. This is violating EU electrical waste laws. The phone companies are not routinely paying for phone recycling. Simply passing costs to consumers and maximising excess profit. Imagine what a phone Life Cycle is now due to this?? Artificial shortening of the life of the phone. Which people are paying good money for in the first place.

This actually makes me feel like we don't have the worst government in the world here in the US. I would have used the phrase "full retard" in the title, but I felt that might offend someone and I don't feel like having to go back and change it. Although I'm sure one of the mods would just change it and yell at me lol. So, France has decided that every single image indexed by a search engine, has to be paid royalties. Of course, this makes no sense. In the US, thankfully, multiple cases on things like Google Images have found that indexing the images and showing thumbnails is clearly fair use. But that's not how it's going to work in France. Wait....wat? Source: https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20160826/10092035354/france-passes-copyright-law-demanding-royalties-every-image-search-engines-index-online.shtml I feel like we ALL know where the "royalties" are going to end up, and it's definitely NOT with the content creators, or average people who just decided to post their daily adventures on Facebook or whatever the French people use (I feel like it's probably Facebook, could be wrong. If anyone from France can tell me that'd be nice.). This is just.....France what are you even doing? French people, even we, in the US, as corrupt as we are, have already basically decided that indexing is fair use, because it's not publishing and it's not "reproducing", it's INDEXING, it's saying "you wanted this, well you can find all of these things, at these places". This is the equivalent of a library, having to pay royalties, to place a book that they have on the shelf, in the index card catalog. It's just flat-out stupid. Feel free to disagree with me. If you think these royalties will actually find their way to the little people who created them, please explain why. It'd be awesome if that actually happened, but I cannot see it happening.

I'm doing a project about France and I need to know how well tech is implemented into France (gov policies, everyday use, acceptance, etc). I was wondering if anybody who is living in France could give me some insight as to how does tech affect and improve their lives. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I will add an IMO: This isn't just France's problem, this isn't just europe's problem this is the whole world's problem. Action must be taken to show these attackers that they just stuck their P*NIS into the hornet's nest. But it's not just ISIS all around the world there are terrorists, this SHOULD BE THE LAST STRAW and everyone should stop being blind and be aware of these issues and voice out their opnions. update 12: Update from REUTERS graphics I have 64gb of RAM and I'm already at 60% damn you chrome!!! This is a pretty cool way to deal with idiots who think flying anything near a nuclear reactor (without permission, I'm sure these places would be fine if you ASKED and arranged well beforehand). A drone to take out other drones. Pretty sure this is how Skynet gets started. In either case, its fun to see these guys take matters into their own hands and do things in a non-violent way while still solving a problem. I personally would be a fan of the "ram into the drone" approach but this way, the nuclear sites can down drones and then add them into their arsenals, amusing to say the least. If you're foolish enough to fly near a reactor, you should be prepared to deal with the consequences. http://giant.gfycat.com/IdenticalTameIchthyostega.gif http://www.popsci.com/france-tests-kamikaze-netted-interceptor-drones-protect-nuclear-reactors

Source: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-31020415 My opinion: (Please excuse the font color; automatic text color was not working so I made it a grey that is good on both themes) From article: Francois Hollande called for a legal framework and sanctions to make them "face up to their responsibilities". The French Interior Minister said he was due to discuss combating terrorist propaganda with US tech companies. But a French free speech group said it amounted to asking the firms to act as privatised police. Mr Hollande said: "We must act on a European and even an international level so that a legal framework can be defined, and that the online platforms that run the social networks are made to face up to their responsibilities, and that sanctions are imposed when they do not." 'Plan of action' He added that he wanted the French government to draw up a "global plan of action" to deal with racism and anti-Semitism by the end of February. And, speaking at a service marking 70 years since the liberation of the Nazi death camp Auschwitz on Tuesday, he said he would ask other world leaders for their support when he met them later that day.The BBC's Paris Correspondent Lucy Williamson said: "The Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve has confirmed that he will travel to the United States to meet major internet operators like Google and Facebook, to talk about new ways of combating what he called 'terrorist propaganda' on the internet." 'Complicit' Mr Hollande said that France supported an appeal from the Union of Former Deportees and the Union of French Jewish Students, against online Holocaust denial. "It is aimed at the big operators - we know who they are. They can no longer close their eyes, otherwise they will be considered complicit in what is spread," he said. The President added that he wanted the country's government to present "between now and the end of February, a global plan of action against racism and anti-Semitism". Jeremie Zimmermann of French online freedom group La Quadrature du Net told the BBC: "Removing the judiciary from the equation by asking private companies based in the US to surveil and sanction their users - like an automated, privatised police force - goes contrary to the most fundamental principles of our democracies, and against fundamental freedoms. "Destroying our own democracy and freedom is playing the terrorists' game - and letting them win it - a very dangerous and counterproductive trend. " 'Concerns' In the aftermath of the three days of attacks in Paris, which began on 7 January, the French government has moved to tackle extremism online. In a cabinet meeting a week after the attacks, ministers said that the intelligence services' ability to deal with the "terrorist menace" online, and particularly on social networks, had diminished in recent years. They said that they would be given extra resources to be used specifically to counter the threat online. And they said that a partnership with the technology giants would be "indispensable" as they sought to create the "conditions for rapid reporting of content inciting racial hatred and terror". The French government also launched a video campaign on social media to try to dissuade would-be jihadists under the headline "you will die alone, far from home". The video, which is visually similar to some Islamic State propaganda films, seeks to counter the arguments put forward by extremist groups. 'Committed' Social networks such as Facebook are known to meet regularly with government officials in order to address various concerns, and particularly those around terrorism, since the Paris attacks. A Google spokesman said the firm was "committed to assisting the French and other governments in their fight against terrorism and crime, both in times of emergency and at other times." He added: "We have clear policies banning incitement to violence or promotion of hatred on our platforms, and we remove such content whenever our users or law enforcement flag them to us. We are always at the French Government's disposal if they want to meet us to discuss this topic." A spokesman for Facebook refused to comment. This is not good at all. While hate speech and terrorism and all that is awful and needs to be gotten rid of, bypassing the judiciary system and forcing companies to remove anything that a nation deems to be hate speech and terrorism can lead to governments really overstepping their bounds as far as free speech is concerned. The best way to get rid of all of this stuff is through educating people that hate speech is wrong and causing the public view of the organizations that perpetuate hate to be crushed so that this stuff is ignored. Part of free speech is allowing people to say anything they want to even if what they say is offensive and hate-filled. Also, holding companies themselves accountable for the actions of their users is just plain dumb too.

(This is my first time posting a news story so bare with the bad layout) http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jan/07/paris-terror-attack-what-we-know-so-far Three armed gunmen entered the offices of 'Charlie Hebdo', a French satirical news magazine, and killed 10 Charlie Hebdo staff, four of them have been named as Stéphane Charbonnier, Georges Wolinski, Bernard Verlhac and Bernard Maris. The staff were in a meeting at the time. A police officer in the meeting who had been providing security, supposedly due to the magazines controversial comments, was also killed. Another police officer was shot in the street and wounded before being shot and killed while he was on the ground. The gunmen escaped in a getaway car and abandoned it, hijacking a new one. The gunmen had supposedly been shouting 'Allah akbar' during the attack. A nationwide manhunt is underway and France has raised its terror threat level to its highest level. Thoughts go out the families of all those lost. (Again I apologize for the bad layout, this is my first time posting a news article)

I needed to post this on here. France paid $20 Billion for trains too wide for many of its train stations. This may not be the techiest of news, but it gave me a laugh. Now, they are shaving off parts of their stations to make them fit. SOrry if this isn't the most techy news. Hey guys! So, I'm hoping this is possible as I've seen stuff like it. I would like to connect a small US VPS to my Dedi located in France. So I can use a US Ip to connect to it and I've heard that this fixes lag and such. The server is running Linux and will be used for a Minecraft server. If this is possible you can email me at nathan.dunahoo@gmail.com or PM me. Thank you and have a nice day!!

Hello, I plan on building my computer around february, I know PC parts evolve quickly but I can adapt when I buy it. 1. Budget & Location : My budget is around 1250€, I'm from France, I would be willing to go above my budget for extra performance (within reason of course). 2. Aim : High end gaming, I want to be able to run all my games at the maximum settings no problem. I'm also interested in getting in to small tournements (mainly for FPS games). 3. Monitors : I'm starting with one monitor, 24" 1080p. I plan on moving to dual monitors one day (also 24" 1080p) 4. Peripherals : I will need a gaming mouse, a mechanical gaming keyboard (Backlit) and a monitor. I'm right handed. 5. Extra Info : Intel & Nvidia setup, Windowed Case, I'm looking for something that will stay very cool and quiet. If anyone could send me either links to baskets with the parts or just a list of what parts they would use I would appreciate it. Jack
