System Asus ROG Z690 Formula i9 13900k - default clocks, MCE was disabled G.skill trident-z DDR5 2x16GB (XMP disabled) EVGA 3080 TI icx Samsung 990 pro as boot drive Problem I flashed my bios to ver 2602, got the update successful message, and have not been able to post since. On the first boot attempt the CPU hangs with code 7F for maybe 5 seconds, then it displays "Test NVRAM", and moves on, but ultimately doesn't output and hangs with a D6 code. Subsequent boots go through the initializations a few times before ultimately failing at the end of the cycle on D6 and "detect HDD". The CPU will hang for a few seconds on B6 and then go back to 00. I was running bios 1720 previously with little issue. I wanted to upgrade because 13th gen stability was supposed to be improved... I installed the latest Intel ME firmware and drivers as recommended by Asus and rebooted before flashing. What I have tried so far power cycle CMOS clear via button + disconnect power and press the power and reset buttons. I can't reach the CMOS battery with the custom loop installed. Re-flashing bios. I have tried every version from 2602 down to 2305. Each flash displays update successful, but the boot attempt is the same. I can't flash to my previous version, apparently due to some "wifi regulation." I tried, and it won't do it. No peripherals Only keyboard via wired connection Display connected to iGPU instead of dGPU I've checked cables and other obvious things. No hardware was touched between successful boot and the initial BIOS flash. What can I do? I really don't want to RMA it. I have had nothing but problems with Asus support this year (all about this damn z690 formula!)

Hello guys, I am having random instabilities on my pc; yesterday I got a blue screen after playing Tiny Tina Wonderlands which was stuck on 100% and afterwards my pc did not boot several times. At every single instance I had “memory detect error” displayed on the oled screen of the motherboard. I have overclock on auto (efficiency and performance cores). I have XMP2 enabled. I have 13 fans 6 intake, 6 push pull exhaust (not matching fans) on the radiator of the AIO and 1 initial exhaust When I had this problem my temperatures were 50-60 degrees CPU (max 79) 60-70 degrees GPU (max 89) My build is; 12900K RTX 3080 ASUS Z690 Formula Corsair 5600Mhz Platinum

Hello all! - (TLDR down below) I come here after a tone of my own personal research to try find the answer as well as confirm. Basically I have a much much older system. It was running beautifully fulfilling all my needs for all those years until a couple of sticks died. So basically I'm on only 4 gig's of ram (yeah I'm one of those 100 chrome tab peoples so life is hard atm aha). After it died, i checked my manual and went out to buy some new DDR3 ram, seeing there where plenty of options available I brazenly went with some Kingston (KVR16N11/4) sticks that matched all the compatibility requirements of my motherboard. Assuming ram would be the easiest part to replace I went ahead installed the sticks only to be greeted with no post. I went through all the troubleshooting options, updated my bios etc, still no post, long story short, I returned them (luckily). So now I'm out and about doing even further research to absolutely try and make sure the next set of sticks I get work. Before people flame me for getting a new system, I am currently in the process of saving money to get a sweet new pc . Unfortunately I don't have cash to splash. Boy would I love to be the winner of one of those ROG RIG episodes. All that ROG gear looks so sweet. I have a ASUS Rampage III Formula with a Intel core i7 950. Currently running 2x (KVR1333D3N9/2G) which have lasted since my pc's birth "knocks on wood". The ram that I'm really keen on buying are these, which also my local pc stores have in stock, but I don't know enough to be certain. And I want to make sure as they are difficult to return if at all. pcpartpicker and a couple other websites say they are compatible but I don't know how reliable those websites are. Buy G.Skill F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL 8GB (2x4GB) 1333MHz DDR3 | Memory | Scorptec Computers G.Skill 8GB (2x4GB), PC3-10666 (1333MHz) DDR3, Ripjaws X, 9-9-9-24-2N, 1.5V, Dual Channel Kit I've come across a lot of similar g skill sticks with slight variations in the model for example gbrl instead of gbxl. Upon research couldn't find much info on difference other then just a difference in the head spreader as well as the RL versions being better for older mobos like mine over the XL but I'm not 100% certain on the info I found, otherwise these sticks look very promising. I've also read g.skill is a really good brand. So I've come here hoping I can get some sound advice, perhaps there may be some peeps familiar with the board or memory. Any information at all is appreciated. Thank you TLDR: Trying to find memory compatible for my motherboard before I make another silly purchase. ASUS Rampage III Formula - Intel Core i7 950

Hey there! I've got an Asus Maximus VII Formula paired with an i7 4790k and for some reason my motherboard wont always detect my SSD's. I've got a Samsung 850 Pro 128gb (my boot drive) and a Samsung 850 Evo 500gb. 70% of the time it detects them both. But theres a lot of times where it wont detect my boot drive, which causes it to change the boot order, which causes Bitlocker to ask for my huge unlock key, and theres also times where it wont detect the 850 Evo (my games drive). I've not yet had it where it wont detect both at the same time. Restarting the PC is all it takes to fix it, but that is annoying as shutting off the PC and turning it back on too quickly causes issues with my soundcard. Go figure. I know it has to be a motherboard issue because I used the 850 Evo in my other PC, which has a Biostar TA970 mobo, and it never had this issue. The 850 Pro has only been used with this motherboard and has always had this problem. It seems that all the HDD's are detected every time without issue. I also had this issue with an Intel SSD paired with this motherboard for a test, it had never had this issue before and has not since putting it back in my 2nd PC a few months back. I cant seem to figure out why the hell this board does this, but I must say it is one of the many issues I've had with this board and Asus is of no help. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them! Thanks!

hi, just wondering what would be the best formula for HVEC/H265 codecs. I've decided to do this so I can just use Direct play so I dont need to transcode every time. My smart tv only supports AC3/DD audio and i want to use the 5.1 channel audio. Also Ive encounted issues converting PCM to AAC in Handbrake. (terrible audio) cheers.

Hello all, I just recently bought a m.2 drive for my computer build. I installed it in the m.2 slot on my mobo underneath the shroud. Once i installed windows on it, I booted up my computer and only one of my other hard drives is showing up. I looked in the manual and it says that if I install a M.2 drive one of my sata ports is disabled. Do you know which one is disabled? ive tried to move my sata cables around on the mobo connections but my hard drives still do not show up. PLEASE HELP!

Looking for a few suggestions before I send my board in for RMA. Here is the build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6wx6Z8 I have intermittent BIOS freezing upon loading issues since I originally purchased the board in January of 2015, but nothing a reset wouldn't fix. Over the past few days I had several random crashes/restarts, which I believe were related to my OC and the high summer temperatures (80+ F). I had tried manually reducing my OC but still was experiencing crashing during gaming randomly which resulted in several complete reboots. My 4790k has been OCed to 4.8Ghz 24/7 since it's original install. Long story short I went into BIOS and loaded optimized defaults to test and see if the OC was the cause of the restarts. Upon reboot I lost my RAID 0 which is no biggy. Attempted to load up the BIOS and it instantly freezes upon loading of the BIOS. I attempted to clear CMOS twice and even reflashed the BIOS using USB flashback twice and the BIOS still freezes instantly. Since I can not reconfigure my RAID I can not boot Windows. Since I can't enter the BIOS I also can't re-install Windows on a single drive since I can't change the boot order to USB I contacted ASUS and explained what had happened and they instantly told me to RMA the board for repair without even trying any other fixes over the phone. I am curious if anyone has run into this and found a fix. The only positive out of all of this is the board is still under warranty until January of 2018. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. I have a question about Maximus X formula. When I build a computer with it its OLED screen and adrasable led strips weren’t working. OLED never turns on. Light integrated on board and regular rgb strips work fine. I wonder do I have to need windows installed for OLED to work…couse it never shows up not during the boot and even when I installed live dash it never went up. I set it in bios to work on boot but this changed nothing. I read somewher on this forums that I need to update LED firmware on this board but I cant find and LED software anywhere. I must add I did updated on latest bios to run 9900k. I would really like to make this work couse OLED is one of main features of this board over the rest. On that note I currently am running my system with 9900k on Mximus XI hero wi-fi with EK monoblock installed to watercool both the VRM and cpu….under stress VRM never vent up to 55 degrees….in 10 hours of aida 64. I wonder which board is actually better…my watercooled hero XI or Formula X which would also be completely watercooled. Even if I stay on hero I would like to fix OLED screnn and adrassable rgbs…and if there is a firmwere for LEDs, couls someone who knows more than I post a link for it. Thanks everyone.

Hi, currently planning to buy a new mobo for my 8086k. My question is: are there any substantial differences between the X Formula and the X Code? Considering I do not have a custom loop(maybe getting one in a year or so) and that the formula costs 50€ more than the code

Hello. I recently got a new PC, bought an i7-7700k and a Asus Maximus IX Formula second hand, got some cheap RAM from the local store and reused my old PSU (Corsair RM750 750 watts) and SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 250Gb). I also moved my Asus ROG Strix 1080 from my old rigg to my new one... Right of the bat i noticed that something was wrong though, as i got a lot (A LOT) of micro stutter all the time. Playing a Youtube video is unbearable as it laggs super much and everything just becomes a blur and the whole computer locks up on and off (It got even worse when i installed the programs provided with the motherboard, apparently something with the IOMap64.sys files screwed the computer up completely as it ALLWAYS caused a BSOD upon boot & logg on. I got rid of the BSOD problem by deleting all those files). So i thought "Well there is a chance i damaged the GPU when i handled it", so i swapped it out for my old AMD XFX R7800 Series card. What happened? Everything works fine. So then i swapped in the 1080 in to my old rigg. And guess what? Everything works fine on that machine. No problems, no crashes, no hick ups, no nothing goes wrong. The only negative thing is that the GPU gets bottlenecked HARD by the CPU. So there shouldn't be a problem with the Maximus IX Formula, since it handles the AMD card great, right? And there shouldn't be a problem on the GPU side as the 1080 works fine in the old rigg, right? What's the problem then? I've tried everything. I've reseated the GPU, I've cleared the CMOS, I've done a reset on the BIOS settings, reinstalled Windows multiple times, I've jump started another PSU to use that as a GPU-only power source to eliminate a bad PSU issue, I've uninstalled and reinstalled all the drivers... The only time the computer works (no laggs, no micro stutter or anything) is when i run it in Safe Mode. So is there a chance there is something software related causing the problems? PLEASE help me figure this out, i just burnt a lot of money (a lot by my standards) on a new computer and i can't even use it. Does anyone have experience with a problem like this? Here comes all the specs of the two computers (GPU and PSU excluded); --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The new computer: CPU; Caption: Intel64 Family 6 Model 158 Stepping 9 Name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700k CPU @4.20GHz RAM; Type: DDR4 First stick; Corsair Value Select 4GB 2133MHz Second stick; Corsair Vengeance LPX 4GB 2400MHz (Bit of a mish-mash i know, but i know for a fact that the RAM is not the issue) Motherboard; Product: Asus Maximus IX Formula Version: Rev 1.xx BIOS; Caption: 03/14/2018 Version: 1301 SSD; Samsung 850 EVO (SATA Port 1) HDD; 5 HDD's (SATA Ports 2-6) OS; Windows 10 Pro 64x Version: 1803 OS Build: 17134.191 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The old computer: CPU; Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 760 @2.80GHz RAM; 12 GB of Corsair DDR3 (can't remember the speed) Motherboard; Gigabyte Model: P55-USB3 BIOS; Version/Date: Award Software International, Inc. I have had my PC for close to 5 years now and recently it has started acting up and its really worrying me. I am using an Asus ROG Maximus V Formula motherboard, a Logitech G510 keyboard and a Roccat Kova mouse. When booting up, it will do the usual start up process with a single beep and then have all my input devices light up followed by the computer screen switching on. These days however it does the usual beep but then followed by another 4 beeps that indicate an error. When I check the motherboard for the error code it shows error code D7 "No Console Input Devices are found" (as written in the user guide) yet my input devices have been inserted into the USB drives. The same input devices I have been using for as long as I have had the PC. Evey now and then after a few hard resets it will beep once and everything with light up as usual but recently it seems to be failing completely where I can spend close to an hour just hard resetting in hopes of the computer starting up. I have tried inserting the mouse and keyboard in other USB drives but nothing seems to change. I cleared the Cmos thinking that might help but nothing. I even went as far as taking apart the whole pc, cleaning it and putting it back together again but nothing seems to change the outcome. I tested out my keyboard and mouse on another computer and they are working just fine. I tested another keyboard and mouse on my motherboard and I still get same error tone and error code. As it is my head is in lock down and I really don't know what to do. I tried going through forums and I can't seem to find any help out there. I am in dire need at this point because my life is basically on this rig.

Overclocking the 8700K and the RAM help.
FOG_Yamato posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi fellow enthusiasts I recently bought myself a gaming pc that sports a Intel Core i7-8700K on a Asus Maximus X Formula motherboard with Dual Channel 2x16 GB G-Skill Trident Z RGB 2400MHz CL15 RAM. I tried looking online for overclocking guides and information about what each of the UEFI settings mean but I only could find what some things are without anyone giving a straight answer. So far by trial and error got the CPU running at 4.9 GHz with variable voltage and the RAM running on it's default XMP profile, temperature wise it sits at 86 degrees under full load so I think I can push it further a little. I want to reach the sweet 5 GHz barrier, but when I dial in the 50 multiplier and even try to put a load on the CPU it instantly BSODs. Any help is appreciated! I would love if someone gave me some more materials on how all of this works since I'm kind of new to the overclocking scene. -
So I am currently running an asus VIII formula. And I just got a razer base station chroma as a gift. But the problem is that whenever I connect it to my PC, I cannot boot it. It just turns on, goes through a few post codes, eventually getting stuck on 6C, before flashing to 99 then restarting. I have tried disabling fast boot, updating chipset and USB drivers etc, I can't get it to work. If I unplug it then plug it in AFTER windows has booted it works absolutely fine. Is there a way to suspend starting a USB hub/controller until after the PC posts?

I'm trying to automate working out my weekly wages and i need to a wierd formula because of the way my company pays wages, basically if i work 6 hours they add 0.1 to that shift so i'm trying to add 0.1 if cell is greater than 6 i also need to take off 30 mins for break time so this is the formula i thought would work =D4-0.5&IF(D4<6+0.1,D5) D4 is hours worked D5 is the output payable hours the return i get is 7.5FALSE

Asus maximus viii hero and formula seems quite familiar but what are the main facts that makes formula expensive than the viii hero?? And which motherboard should be more stable if i overclock my cpu?

I see topic goes in my way Can i run 8x/0x/8x on this Maximus VII Formula? Or any other mobo, where i can use 1st and 3rd slot for SLI? Talking about Z97 chipset...coz want more space for airflow 2x 980Ti Asus Strix.

So for one year ago I build a custom pc for around 2000$ and didn't really care about how each part looked, as long as it was the right color for my build. The last moths I've started to do some DIY painting and sleeving my cables for the look of it. The thing is that I am using a Maximus VII Ranger and just saw that Maximus VII Formula had the some sorts of an armor plate on it. If I had that shield/armor plate on my motherboard my build would look compleatly awesome. So the question is : Would the Formula Thermal Armor fit Maximus VII Ranger? Sorry for bad english: Im from Norway. Thank you!
