Hi everyone! My beloved desktop will move from under the desk to the top of my desk wich has made me think about the look of it a bit more since it will be in sight now. Because of this I'd like to install 3 120mm argb or rgb fans in the front how ever I still have a few questions about this since this will be my first time doing this. 1. What is the difference between ARGB and RGB? (I haven't been able to find a clear answer by browsing the web) 2. How do I connect it in order to be able to control things like the colours? (My motherboard does have RGB headers. But I also read stuff about controllers and I'm really lost on this topic.) I hope you can help me along and am looking forward to your insights! Edit: My system specs are: Processor: Ryzen 5 5600X Mobo: Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 GPU: RX 6600 8GB Gigabyte eagle Ram: 4x8 Corsair vengeance DDR4 3200MHZ Storage: Kingston NV2 1TB m.2, Crucial P3 1 TB SSD PSU: Thermaltak Smart BM2 650W Semi Modular 80 Plus Bronze Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow OS: Windows 11 pro

Hey everyone, I am building my first pc in a fractal torrent compact, I have everything set up and it turns on and temps are normal. I have a Z790-P PRIME WiFi Intel LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard And i cant find where to plug in this last cord that starts at the top of the case. Its not apart of the psu. It came attached to the case and it attaches to a metal plate on the top of the case where the psu compartment is. To me it looks like a grounding cord but i dont know where it plugs into on the motherboard. Any thoughts? (I attached an image of the plug and where it starts at the top of the case)

Budget (including currency): ~$1200 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (COD and similar games), basic video editing. Other details: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2MxD9r <--- What I was looking at. Hi everyone, looking to build my first desktop. Part list is linked above. I am new to this any looking for any advice/tips you can offer. Feel free to tear apart my pre-build, I am in planning phase right now after watching far to many Youtube videos. I am looking to get the final part list together and have all parts in shopping cart and monitor prices and just order as the deals come in. I would like to have at least two monitors for this build, is it ok to have different quality monitors; one for gaming and one for internet surfing? I also thought about having two SSD one with low storage to store OS and another larger (2 TB) to store all games and downloads. I prefer Intel CPU because blue is better than orange. Thank you in advance for all your help.

I used my BIOS to make a raid1 out of 2 8TB drives to use on my media server, They show up as just sdb and sdc and I don't really know what to do next first time dealing with raid of any sort. I saw some guides talking about dmraid and mdadm but its kind of confusing. Like do I just use sdb and it copies over to sbc or am I suppose to make a folder I saw something about md0 but again confusing. I am running on a intel i7 4770k if that helps.

Budget (including currency): $2750 in USD Country: Good ol' US of A Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I plan on using this build for gaming and possibly streaming. The heaviest games I'd play on as of now are StarWars Battlefront 2, StarWars Squadrons, No Mans Sky, and possibly some VR games that are a bit less taxing. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Well, I am upgrading from.. nothing lol. I plan on hopefully buying my parts before the end of the year. for res and refresh rates, I would like to be able to use 1080p without a problem, but if I can get to 4k with this budget, that would be epic. As for refresh rate.. somewhere between 144-240Hz range would be nice. Here's the link to my parts list (I think. If you couldn't tell already, I'm very new to this) Some of the parts have custom prices which I don't know if they are correct, but there you go! Hi Guys/Ladies on LTT forum! After watching almost tons of LTT/NCIX Tech Tip videos on youtube, I finally appeal to the pros on the forum for my first ever PC Build! Myself: Never really had any experience with full PC building (I had experience with upgrade module like pull out a part and plug in a new part) I consider myself somewhat average on PC knowledge (I know what a ram does and what does PCI means.. I think ) 1. Budget & Location Location: Down under Straya~ (Australia) Budget: AUD$5000 incl peripherals (Do note Australia has ridiculous % of GST and almost every tech stuff is more expensive than the US of A & Canada) 2. Aim/Reason for Build Well folks, I am currently running a 5 years old Alienware M14x R2, Second Generation Intel i7-2670QM @ 2.2 Ghz, 8gb of Ram, Nvdia 3gb GT 555M (yes that right GT.. omg Leslie does those things still exists?! ), so I am missing out on lots of big title like The Division, Witcher 3, GTA V, Rainbow Siege (etc etc). So in simple, I am wanting to build a PC for gaming (proper 60fps smoothness) and hopefully to be a VR ready rig. PS: Will be attempting to learn how to Overclock this rig too! 3. Monitors Currently just wanting 1 monitor but might consider dual to triple display in the future. I am planning to use this monitor: Acer XB280HK 28in 4K G-Sync Widescreen Gaming Monitor Hopefully will be gaming on at least 1440p, the reason I go for this monitor is because of its value, G-Sync and 4K resolution. 4. Peripherals/Parts Well this is going to be a RazerTM theme build so the peripherals will be as below: PC Itself*: Case: NZXT H440 Razer Edition Mid Tower Case Motherboard: MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3X Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K CPU Cooler: Cryorig A40 Ultimate Hybrid Liquid Cooler GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6GB Boot Drive: Intel 750 Series PCI-Express 400GB SSD Mass Storage Drive: Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM001 Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2A2400C14 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Black (Dual Channel 2400mhz) PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 Gold 850W Power Supply Network: ASUS PCE-AC68 Dual Band Wireless AC1900 PCI-E Adapter Cable Management: CableMod E-Series G2 & P2 Cable Kit Black/Green Windows: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 32bit/64bit USB Flash Drive Estimated Cost: AUD$3000 Peripherals**: Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow Chroma RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Mouse: Razer Diamondback Chroma RGB Laser Gaming Mouse Mouse Pad: Razer Firefly Chroma RGB Hard Gaming Mouse Mat Headphone: Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma RGB USB Gaming Headset Speaker: Razer Leviathan 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Bar Monitor: Acer XB280HK 28in 4K G-Sync Widescreen Gaming Monitor * I will need an expert/pro to check if all these part will fit with each other/ or if there is any room for improvement/ better parts you recommend. ** I know is a full on Razer theme (and I know some people probably think I am better of with Cosair Keyboard/parts etc etc, but I am trying to stick to a theme on the peripherals, the PC itself is pretty much what I think is within budget. Summary: In simple I just want an second opinion before I go ahead and click the order button and if any kind person would walk me thru if they recommend a first timer building this PC. Constructive feedback appreciated! Will keep you guys posted! Leslie

Hey everyone. After 12 years of getting stuck with laptops, I think I have finally decided to get a desktop computer. And actually, I want to build it myself. I consider myself as a good general tech-follower, but when it comes to GPUs and CPUs and chipsets etc. I was completely illiterate, until today. Now I think I generally know a bit of everything just enough to build a basic PC from scratch, because I have been reading and wathcing stuff for a very long time. So, if I cut to the chase, I decided to build a Skylake system and chose the main components. Here are the basic parts I want: CPU: i5 6600 or i7 6700 (No K, I do not want to overclock for now) Motherboard: ASUS Z170-A (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z170-A/) Memory: DDR4 Kingston HyperX Fury Black 2666MHZ CL15 (2x18)16 GB (http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX426C15FBK2_16.pdf) GPU: ZOTAC GTX950 AMP! 2 GB 128 Bit (https://www.zotac.com/tr/product/graphics_card/gtx-950-...) Case: Cooler Master Silencio 650 Pure (http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/silencio650p...) PSU1: Seasonic M12II-620 EVO (http://seasonic.com/product/m12ii-620-evo/) PSU2: Corsair Builder VS550 (http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vs-seriestm-vs550-550-watt-power-supply) PSU3: Cooler Master G650M (http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/modular-gm-series/g650m/) I am not a hardcore gamer, nor an Adobe guy. I am a plain person who likes simplicity and a moderate user, though I love 1080p graphics (YouTube, online streaming etc.). I still play older games and have no enthusiasm about Call of Duty, Battlefield, Crysis, FarCry and such FPS games. Well, I like some of them, but they do not have to look ultimately stunning if I play them. On the contrary, I like SimCity, Star Wars KotOR, The Sims, Age of Empires HD, Red Alert and games alike. So they have to look and work perfect because I have been playing these games with low-moderate settings for so long. I also want to take the advantage of a new PC and buy some new games that I could not before. So you might ask, why i7 then? Because after 12 years of being a laptop user, I want to expand my vision on games that I was not able to play before and want my new PC to be long lasting as possible without changing the CPU and the MoBo (I am still using my 8 years-old beloved Sony VAIO, with a new SSD supplement though). I also want to compensate myself for all the years I have spent with older hardware. I am excited about a superfast PC like never before! Well, do you think the parts I chose are okay? I am still trying to decide if I need a CPU cooler should the stock fan is loud or not able to cool the CPU enough (is that possible?). Thank you very much in advance! I am sure you are bored of amateurs like me, but I need professional help?
