  1. So I've never built a PC before, but I've got a pretty good idea of how and how much I'd like to spend on one (thanks to LTT videos!!). I'm looking to spend Around £450 max, but I'm willing to go second hand for some parts. I already have 2 monitors, peripherals, an SSD and a HDD. Any advice on what I should change on this list?
  2. This is my first build and I have run into some problems... My motherboard (B450 Tomahawk Max) won't light up fans won't start nothing... I really don't know what is going on and it really sucks. I have tested the power supply which is a Corsair CX500M, which should be compatible and it works fine. But when I put it into the motherboardboard nothing happens, the fan on the power supply won't spin either. I don't know if there is a compatibility issue, so I have listed the part below. All the parts but the GPU are brand new. CPU - Ryzen 5 3600 GPU -EVGA GEFORCE RTX 2060 ultra Cooler - Wraith Cooler included with CPU Motherboard - B450 tomahawk max Ram - 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance LPX SSD - intel series 660p 512 gb IMG_1108.3gp
  3. AMD's Driver updates (20.2.2) have been out a couple days and I'm hearing good things. I'm getting close to choosing a GPU for my first build and I've narrowed it down to a RTX 2060 or a 5600 XT (Or a 5700/ 2060 super depending on sales and promotions at the time, but that's not important). For some reason i feel more drawn to the 5600 XT, i guess because of the price to power, but these driver issues are honestly scaring me away as a first time builder, I'm really just looking to build the thing and have it working fine and only really play with more technical overclocking down the road if i really feel a need to. And so far it sounds like the 2060 is a safe choice for that, but i still cant ignore the 5600 xt. So i'm asking how are these new drivers from AMD are treating everyone? Also, are the issues people are having happening more to people who upgrading to Navi GPU's or to fresh builds, or is it a pretty even mix? Sorry if i rambled a bit, thanks in advance for the response.

I'm trying not to spend too much since I'm a freshman in highschool pet sitting for this, which will take a while. I've never gamed on a pc before so this is my first go at it. If I need to change anything, please let me know.
  5. So I recently bought all the components i need to make a pc foe the first time bit after installing everything my pc will not start my ram rgb lights up, my cpu fan doesnt and my gpu doesn't. 6. I want to start building my first PC today but I want to get some more advice. I'll link my parts below (note: I live near a Microcenter) I was going to grab my final 2 components Ryzen 5 2400g and the AsRock B450 PRO4. Someone on r/buildpcsales said I should get the Ryzen 5 1600 + RX 570 instead of the 2400g. But the reason I wanted to go with the 2400g is because I just wanted something for so light gaming (Apex, Warframe and maybe Destiny 2) and to use my elgato HD60S to capture and stream PS4 gameplay. I just want to know how long will that RX 570 be good enough. When I add all 3 parts to the cart on Microcenter it's around $277 I can push that budget to around $350 any recommendations please and Thank you sorry if I sound complicated above. 7. I recently ordered 2 120mm rgb fans of newegg (https://www.newegg.com/p/1YF-00VU-00001?Item=9SIAHW79524719), and they came with 6 pin connectors and no fan controller, meaning that my b450 motherboard can't power them. What can I do? Do I contact the manufacturer? Do I just return them?
  8. Hi, I'm currently building my first PC, and I've come across a hitch. Two of the USB cables are attached to each other (even insulated together, so I can't pull them apart), and I can't attach one without being unable to attach the other. I've attached pictures below. Thanks in advance for the help

  10. This is my first pc build and I am trying to switch to the master race so I have been looking at cpu’s and I found one on pcpartpicker.com and then I chose all my other components on the website and now have pretty good build in my opinion but, since this is a gaming rig I was curious if I could run 2018 games at 100FPS or more on 1440p on my build. 12. Hello, could you please check over my Parslist if they are sensible or if there are mistakes in it. I will be used for programming and gaming as high performance tasks, but graphical quallity isn't that important. I have played often at 600X800 resulution and enjoyed it. Currently I am using a HP Elitebook 8530w with an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9000 @ 2.00GHz and a NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M. It has served me well despite the overheating problems, but the mobility requirements are now fulfilled by my tablet. I'm living in Austria (the one with the alps, not the kangaroos), the OS will be Windows and the budget should stay roughtly the same. If you could tell me what to watch for when buying a Monitor for the system I would apreciate it verry much. http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/3mCxyc I7-67000K Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM Asus Z170-DELUXE ATX LGA1151 Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Samsung 850 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 2 times: Western Digital Blue 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM (Data + Backup) MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB Cooler Master MasterCase 5 ATX Mid Tower EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
  13. Hello all, New member to this forum and first time builder. I know there is supposed to be a specific way to write this and I will try to stick to it. United States Dollar why: I want a computer that can play video games like bf4, watch dogs, etc.. I also want it to store and play movies and music. And something I have all ways wanted to do and why not. Budget: USD 900 to 1000. The parts I have selected and wrote down on my research paper have come out to $957.00. short version just so you can see what I'm thinking about: CPU-AMD 6350 MOBO- Asus m599x evo r2.0 PSU- modular 550w GPU- R9 270x Purchased- case- NZXT Source 530 (I know its big but I like it) Memory- G Skill 8 gb (2x4gb) HDD- WD 1 TB (for now but plan to add more and upgrade to a SSD) OS- windows 7 Purchased- Optical- DVD ROM (still have stuff that are on disk) I will be adding stuff as time goes on, like a card reader, fans, liquid cooling (at least for the CPU), maybe some LED lights (still arguing with the wife about that one). I know your supposed to buy some of this stuff together so you can install and make sure it works for warranty purposes, but I'm only able to purchase a few items each pay check or one big purchase each pay check (you get the point). I know this was a long post and I was supposed to keep it short but as I said this is my first build and I just want to make sure I get it right or at least fix what I have messed up. Thanks for the suggestions and advise, P.s. are there such a thing as PCI e slot covers. I was wanting to stick to a color them and the MOBO I chose is not within the colors I have planned. Thanks again!!!!
  14. Hello! I'm just about to take the leap from my crappy old Xbox 360 to a what I feel is a "high end" gaming computer. To save money i have decided to build the PC instead of getting it pre constructed by companies such as IronSide.com but am having issues deciding on the right parts for me, i have a budget of around $1500 and really cant afford any more due to my silly job at McDonalds! I want the PC to be powerful enough to run most high end games such as BF4 and TitanFall on high setting without sacrificing FPS as well as playing games such as Feed The Beast, Minecraft, Rust and DayZ very fluently with no drops in Fps. One of my main goals with this build is to keep it looking good so my friends can kneel down beneath it when they see it standing proud on my $20 desk, so cable management is a must, hence the modular power supply. These are the parts i have chosen so far: -Corsair obsidian 750D case -Samsung 840 Evo series 120GB SSD -EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Dual SC 2GB Graphics card -Corsair CX-750 Modular 80+ Bronze Power Supply -Corsair Vengeance Pro CMY8GX3M2A2133C11R 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 RAM -Intel Core i5 4670k CPU -Western Digital WD Green 2TB WD20EZRX Hard drive - Asus Z87-C Motherboard I plan on using the stock heat sink that comes with the Intel Core i5 4670k CPU for the time being until i get some extra cash together to buy either a Corsair H100i or a custom water loop. Is there anything in this build that will bottle neck the system? and is there any place i could save money without sacrificing value? oh and i almost forgot, i want to keep the build Intel and GeForce based so no Amd! Thanks!
  15. Hello, thank you for clicking on my post. I am busy building a pc and I do not have all the parts yet. I installed my motherboard into my case because I have my Motherboard, Case and Power Supply Unit already and I am still waiting on my other parts. Now I just installed the motherboard because I thought ''Hey why not, there's nothing wrong with installing a motherboard in a case for no reason? Right?'' So... I installed the motherboard, without any stand off's... so I literally took the screws included in the case and screwed the motherboard straight to the case without installing the little stand off things so the back of the motherboard doesn't touch the case, well... I didn't install those stand off things and the motherboard was touching the back off the case for a good week, I still haven't gotten all my stuff yet so I don't know if i have short circuited it or not? Please tell my that there is some sort of god and that my 150 Dollar Motherboard is going to be okay? Please...? Here is a video showing my mistake - 54023561426__9A68EA3F-D267-4358-BE5B-6A1D87A9B4FF.MOV
  16. Hi! I'm trying to build a 1440p (Probably ?) gaming system around $800 to $900 and I choose following part lists using pcpartspicker.com . I'm happy with either a AMD or Intel build as long as it provide future upgrade path. I'm really happy to hear your suggestions. Thanks in advance? By the way I'll not do much overclocking. 17. A friend of mine is wanting to get a better experience in modern games and wants what is best for his money. He is not planing to do any kind of overclocking and is not going to be rendering videos so z170 or x99 boards isn't a thing he wants. He won't be going for liquid cooling since he is a pretty basic guy. He will tend to use it stricktly as a gamimg rig only. He does want to keep costs down a bit and could use a new keyboard and mouse and he doesn't want something fancy like rgb, macros, etc. He just wants something that will serve him well and that will last him for a while. I really don't think he plans to play games at 1440p or 4k but wants a great experience in 1080p. Has around $600 but is willing to spend $920 at his max. He will appreciate a very premium look to his whole pc as long as the prices aren't through the roof. Thank you for reading and helping me. Edit: Spelling
  18. I wanna Preface this by saying ty to anyone who takes the time out of their day to help. Also the reason some things are blank or say (or current gen equivalent) is because im not buying these parts until next cristmas or summer 2017 because im going back to med school in january so i wont have much time to build it or play. So imhoping prices will go down and or new gen devices will be released.(hopefully the new architecture for NVIDIA cards :D, or the gtx 2080TI) But as im not sure about this rig since i've never built a pc before i wan to know if these parts are compatable. I do plan to oc the cpu hence the k sku, and maybe teh gpu depending on what the clockspeedis out of box but prob not. I do care about aesthetics. And i guess that's it any questions please msg me and again thank you for your time <3. Gonna get a GPU later, when prices fall/ when a newer model releases- currently looking at a GTX 1050/ 1050 Ti Going for Intel because the Ryzen 5 2400G is not powerful enough, and I don't want to buy a GPU now. What do you guys think? Not comfortable getting the key from Reddit, want the ultra-wide specifically for productivity purposes, and chose the case coz it comes with two optical drive bays (one can be converted to 4 SSD bays), has 2 white LED fans, and I specifically don't want a GPU now.
  20. After hooking everything up to where I'm pretty sure it needs to go (I watched an Austin Evans video to help), I found a couple wires that I'm not sure where they need to go, I have the front fan wire than can't reach even slightly near the motherboard, and the front USB wire with the same problem. I might be able to post some pictures if needed.

  22. Hi guys. After 4 years worth of savings I've finally got enough for me to get my Dream Rig! I've got a grand total of £2,550 to spend now, and here are the parts that I've chosen. They might not be perfect, and I'm open to changes that anyone can offer me. Another thing is as I'm a first time builder, I've got no experience, so would love to hear some good tips that could make the build more enjoyable and things that I might miss that is vitally important. 23. Hello guys! I bought a PC 5 years ago. Recently my PC started to give me bugs and problems and now I need to upgrade (and btw my CPU died yesterday). Before it was a AMD radeon 770 HD series GPU, MSI FM2-A75MA-P33 motherboard and some kind of athlon 4 core 3.2 GHz CPU (don't remember which one exactly because it's already in my trash can). I have already swapped GPU and PSU. I got GTX 1050 4GB TI GPU and SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze EVO Edition 520W ATX12V v2.3 PSU. For storage I have Samsung 850 evo 250gb and some kind of 1TB HDD (doesn't matter). Everything else I need to change (CPU, RAM, Motherboard). I was thinking about getting the Ryzen 5 CPU (still can't decide between 1600X, 2600 and 2600X, but im leaning more towards 2600X), GIGABYTE AB350M-GAMING 3 motherboard and G.SKILL RIPJAWSV 32GB 3200MHZ DDR4 CL16 DIMM KIT OF 2 F4-3200C16D-32GVK RAM. I was looking at PATRIOT VIPER 4 16GB 3000MHZ DDR4 CL16 KIT OF 2 PV416G300C6K. I don't care how much RAM memory i get for now but i know i'll want to upgrade later to 32GB. What are your thoughts if I go for Ryzen 5 2600X with that G.SKILL RAM? Or there are some better options in your thoughts. I don't want to spend too much money but at the same time i'd rather pay a bit exrtra so I wont get any unnecessary surprises later. With this upgrade I'm hoping to last at least 4 next years. Hopefully long time PC builder enthusiasts aren't getting a heart attack looking at my theoretical build. P.S. Sorry for typos if there are any. English was only my 3rd language i have learned. P.S.S. Everyone have a nice day!
  24. Currently i'm running off a lower end gaming laptop, but recently I've been getting into 3D fx, modeling, editing etc. -- on top of wanting to play more intensive 3D games -- so I have an upgrade in mind (too bad the Canadian dollar is so low lol). My budget is ~$2500 Canadian (with shipping/tax), and I more or less have my parts picked out (although i'd be happy to hear recommendations for better products within similar price ranges) But more importantly because i'm a first time builder, it would be really, really nice if someone more experienced could quickly check over my build and make sure that all selected parts are compatible (I've tried to make sure everything works together but considering how much money is being invested in this comp I really want to be 100% sure. Thanks! 25. Well hey there. I have been thinking about getting a new pc as my old one can't really keep up with the games that are coming out now days, as i've never built my own pc and i'm new in this gatecory so i would like to ask your opinions. The budget should be around 800-1200€ I'm not so sure about the 1600, PSU and the ram feels like an overkill maybe?
