Hello, I bought a laptop recently (MSI GF63) but it's hard drive is very small (250GB) and I figured I can just get an external for the actual games library. I play Destiny mostly and it is a huge game (almost 100GB). When I had it on my laptop hard drive it worked excellently. The game booted up quickly and the in game FPS counter was reading consistently above 70 during play and 100+ in menus. I bought a Firecuda Gaming HDD 2TB external hard drive. The reviews said it worked really well and that you cant really notice a difference when gaming. However when I moved Destiny over to the Firecuda, the game took almost 2x as long to boot up. I was getting 10-15 FPS in the menus. It was terrible. Like trying to play on my husbands laptop that doesnt have a graphics card. Anyway, I was hoping maybe I didnt set it up correctly or something. If someone could help. I dont have much technical knowledge so anything would need instructions on how to do it. Thanks so much. If I cant get it to work properly, I will return it and save up for something better. If you think thats what I should do anyway, can you recommend something? Also, I did search the forum for help and found a couple older posts, but I didnt really understand anything that was recommended. I just bought a 2TB Seagate firecuda 530 PCIE 4 SSD without a heat sink to add to my new HP Envy 16 2022 laptop. I’m wondering if I need to find a way to add a heat sink to it or will it be fine by itself? What could happen? (The other PCIE ssd in the laptop has no heat sink but I think the 530 might use more power). Thanks for the advice!

If the same price or almost the same price, about $5-10 difference, Corsair MP510 2tb or Seagate Firecuda 510 2tb? I've ruled out other drives and brands based on pricing and my budget, claiming warranty etc. Seagate seems to be faster. But does it translate to real world? Which is more durable?

System specs I9 9900k oc at 5.1 ghz all cores Evga rtx 2080ti 32GB 3866 ram 250GB m.2 500Gb m.2 1TB ssd 2TB firecuda 800 watt psu All watercooled. I get terrible stuttering in games, only when playing off of the firecuda. Whether its bfv, modern warfare, pubg, or even DCS world. Its all stutters for either the first map I play or the first 30 minutes (terrible game stopping stutters). When playing games installed to the ssds I domt have this issue. Has anyone had this happened before, and is there a fix for it?

What is the difference between Seagate FireCuda and Barracuda hard disk drives?

Hi all, So...Newly built PC as follows: OS (Win 10 64bit) drive: Samsung 950 Pro 256gb M.2. SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 1tb. SSHD: Seagate Firecuda 2tb ST2000DX002. The 850 pro and seagate drives are both initialised and completely blank/brand new. To test how well they're running I copied a circa 10GB file from an external HDD onto the 950Pro boot drive. From there I copied the file to the 850Pro - 18 seconds. And the file opened up/played no problem. I then copied it from the same 950Pro to the Seagate SSHD - 16 Minutes! And when the file is opened, it shows but playback is frozen. If i skip along the video, it just stays frozen and stutters a lot. Here are some shots of the transfer from the 950Pro to the seagate sshd. What's going on here? The initial transfer from the external usb3.0 drive onto the 950Pro was a hell of a lot faster! The time it took for the transfer from 950Pro to Seagate SSHD.

Hello. I am wondering about the compatibility of the laptop that I have with a SSHD. When I check the specifications website it does not have any information on the compatibility. It only says it has a 1TB SSHD versions of the latop, nothing about compatible storage devices. I got a model without a harddrive in it, only an M.2 SSD and need to have more storage. The website saying 1TB is worrying me on purchasing a 2TB drive, but I would like around 2TB since I am planning or storing video footage. I know that some systems have a problem with the storage capacity of harddrives due to stuff like operating system (mine is 64 so no problem I think), Power supply issues, or drives on motherboards (my desktop required a driver to have harddisks over 3TB to run on it). Thats why I was wondering if there could be any other restrictions that I did not know about that would prevent the 2TB SSHD from working. I do not want to go through the trouble or returning the item.

For a raid 1 configuration of 2 drives which WILL be used for quite an amount of torrenting, how much will an SSHD wear and tear from the torrenting? (https://www.komplett.se/product/909964/datorutrustning/lagring/haarddisk/haarddisk-25/seagate-firecuda-2tb-25-sshd#) Also what difference am i going to feel performance-wise between these: 1. Seagate Enterprise (128MB Cache) - https://www.komplett.se/product/907896/datorutrustning/lagring/haarddisk/haarddisk-35/seagate-enterprise-capacity-2tb-sata-hdd# 2. WD Black (64MB Cache) - https://www.komplett.se/product/799876/datorutrustning/lagring/haarddisk/haarddisk-35/wd-desktop-black-2tb-35# In terms of the WD Black, it has a "Dual processor". What exactly does that give me in terms of reliability and speed?

I'm looking for a highly reliable, long lasting & very fast 1TB backup HDD for my 1st PC I'm building in a couple months. I know that seems like very early shopping but I've been slowly buying parts already in order to take advantage of the best possible sales. So far my 2 immediate options are Seagate FireCuda & Western Digital Black, both have a 5 year warranty, are around the same price, but I hear WD is slightly more reliable while SG is a little faster being an SSHD. However another feature I've been unable to find is Shock Resistance, I've seen External Portable HDD's that have this feature but not an internal one. I have a MasterCase Pro 3 & I suspect that a shock resistant external HDD could be mounted to the HDD Cage Base Plate that's also intended for a reservoir but am unsure. I'd greatly appreciate any & all suggestions regarding the two above options plus any other choices I might of missed.

I need some extra storage for game installation drive (big file game that I rarely play) so I don't wanna spend extra money on SSD and will looking toward a HDD I already have an overrated WD Black that not even fast, and a slower 5.4k rpm WD Blue ,so I think I'll go for Seagate this time. I saw new SSHD Firecuda 2TB came out, which they said it's fast, but new Barracuda 2TB is $40 cheaper.. which one is better?

So i have a new firecuda i plan on installing later tonight, however, my system already has an SSD ive been using. This will be the first piece of hardware ive installed into my PC personally and wanted to know if i still need to format the drive, or if its just plug and play...

Im trying to install my new firecuda and i have all the cable believed i need, however, the is a four pin female plug labelled APH. Ive never heard of this before and from what ive seen from googling, i dont need it. Anyone can help, thatd be appreciated.

I'm thinking of buying the Seagate FireCuda 2.5" 2TB for my desktop. I kept looking around but I can't seem to find the answer. I saw some people online saying it can't be used or something but I'm not too sure. Can I use the 2.5" version on my desktop build? Or are there better drives that I can use?

TL;DR - Cant seem to pin point which would be the best option, done some research about it. Really unlucky on Western Digital, 2 broken drives, never had a Seagate. Need help, budget of $130, live in the Philippines. Dont care about noise and warranty , more on performance and reliability. Also havent found an SSD. ( Link Below ) So im looking to replace my paper weight WD Blue 2tb 5400 RPM, with a much more reliable drive. I have been unlucky with Western Digital , with a 2 tb Green breaking down in 2.5 years and my 2tb Blue in 1.25 years. I dont really care for noise, what i really need is speed and reliability, or which will last the longest based on failure rates. Im going to give Seagate a try, although i have heard of their fail rates, but still put WD into consideration even if i had 2 of their drives fail. All of the drives put into conaideration are 2 TB. The Western Digital is the 2013 one, Seagate Firecuda Probably 2016, and same with Barracuda. Still havent chosen which SSD. I have done some searching and i have heard that the Seagate SSHD ( ST2000DX002 ) is really great, it comes close to an SSD on certain times and benefits the most when i play the same game, which i do. Also heard its just as fast as the Black and Barracuda except when the flash NAND comes in to play. However i do hear that whenever the SSHD is defective, it becomes incredibly slow. Also done some searching with the Black ( WD2003FZEX ) heard its better than a standard HDD, and will also benefit with loading times.i dont know how its dual processor benefits, and some said its noisy but i dont really care. I tried to compare it with the Firecuda and Barracuda but i cant seem to settle on one. I have heard that it fails by making a weird noise. I have put the Barracuda/SSD into consideration, the ST2000DM006 model feels like it will fail just the same, and the speed just the same. Although it does seem like the better option, but i have not settled on which SSD. The max capacity of an SSD that i will be able to purchase if i go with this option is 240 to 256 gb, or less. Warranty doesnt matter, because i dont live in the US, i live in the Philippines, and cant take advantage of it. I only have a year warranty regardless of any drive , i have a small budget of $130. http://dynaquestpc.com/product-category/components/harddisk-harddrive-storage-hdd-ssd-portable/harddisk-harddrive-storage-hdd-ssd-solid-state/?orderby=price This is the site where i can buy. My budget for an SSD is P4,000 ( $80 , Philippine Peso ) my overall budget is P7,250 ( $145 ) i have not chosen which SSD so you can suggest because im clueless on what to pick lol. Maybe you can also suggest a Hard Drive. Thanks.

Hey, i need help selecting an HDD as my secondary drive as all of my research has been inconclusive between these 2. I have a 500gb WD Blue M.2 as my primary boot drive and i can't decide which should i buy, a Seagate Firecuda 2TB SSHD or a WD BLACK 2 TB HDD. i planning to use either of them for gaming and light office work. I am also going to install INTEL OCTANE M.2 32GB on this secondary drive for boost. There is only a 20$ difference between them Seagate being the cheaper one or should i just go with a regular Barracuda 2TB with 7200rpm. my build is MB : asrock Taichi CPU :I5 8600k Ram: DDR4 2400 rip jaws GPU: gigabyte 1080 g1 primary storage: WD Blue M.2 500 gb Thanks in Advance

Hi, I'm going to have to choose between Seagate Barracuda Pro and FireCuda 2tb. I'm not familiar with numbers or differences of DRAM or just RAM. Anyway both products appeals fast storage but the usage look a bit different. Barracuda Pro seems more appropriate for storage and editing program but FireCuda looks more appealing for gaming storage. one has intel Optane memory tech but not sure what it's useful for. In conclusion, I'm primarily using this hardware for storage and gaming like in steam. If there's any suggestion feel free to share your's. My seagate Firecuda 1tb 2.5" have a insane huge seek error rate and command timeout raw value ( Seagate ST1000LX015 ) seek error rate : 0x20A02D1E5 ( 8757945076 ) commmand timeout : 0x3FF03FF03FF ( 4393818588159 ) Total power on hours of 4379 only compare to my hgst HTS541010A9E662 it is just way too high seek error rate : 0x0 ( 0 ) commmand timeout : N/A what happened? is that most of the seagate drive have such a huge value? ( my another 12000 hours seagate drive have less than this one 3.5" HDD ) should I replace it with a HGST / WD drive? DriveDxReport2018-06-17_22-52-34-487.txt DriveDxReport2018-06-17_22-56-04-821.txt

So I don't really know how to ask these, but I have a few questions. I am wanting the best reads for game loading times. I am debating on a 1TB 3.5" Firecuda or a 500GB Velociraptor. Yes I know Velociraptors are 6 years old (2012), but that means nothing to me (neither does the 500GB difference). Checking benchmarks, the Velociraptor has faster speeds of reading Sequentially and Randomly than the Firecuda. My worry is the HDD portion of the Firecuda, 8GB of the SSHD cache isn't going to hold an entire game these days. This primary benchmark >>here<< shows the the Velociraptor being faster, but I am unsure which is worth it for game loading times. I already own a Firecuda, but I am wondering if a Velociraptor would yield faster loading. I notice that not all my games on the Firecuda are utilizing the SSD cache ever after multiple boots of the game, there's simply too much to fit into 8GB of cache. So my questions/TL;DR: Talking about the Firecuda HDD portion, is it slower than a Velociraptor, and would this be the reason Velociraptor wins (apparently)? Does the Velociraptor having faster reads mean it will load a game faster? Which would you buy? The SSHD (with 8GB being the fast part) or the Velociraptor (with the entire drive being the fast part ((at least in reads)))?

Hello everyone, first of all a short overview of my System: CPU: Ryzen5 1600 @3.9Ghz RAM: 16GB Corsair Ram @~3400Mhz MB: Asus B350i Gaming PSU: Corsair SF600 --- Storage Samsung SSD 960 Evo (250Gb) -Windows boot drive Samsung SSD 850 Evo (250Gb) -Fast storage for rendering stuff etc. Seagate Firecuda (2TB) -Storage for games/downloads/... Recently I noticed that whenever I experienced stuttering in games like Civilization V my SSHD started to spin up so I tried to find out more about the problem.. All I found is that it seems like the SSHD automatically stops spinning in standby state and this causes the stuttering because before my pc can access any data the disk has to spin up again first. I already looked into the windows power settings and it's set to never turn off hard disks. Is there something I can do to prevent my this behavior? Could I maybe use a part of my 850Evo as a cache for my HDD or something like that? 2TB SSD Storage is a bit too expensive to upgrade Thanks in advance for your help

I just upgraded to Ryzen from an AMD A10-7850K processor, but the storage is now ridiculously slow. I've heard issues that it could be related to the RAM but I have no other ideas on how to fix the problem. How can I fix this issue? I've already tried: - Overclocking the CPU to 3.4, 3.6, and 3.8 GHz - Overclocking the RAM to XMP 1 (2800 MHz) and XMP 2 (3000 MHz) - Resetting the BIOS - Going into Game Mode through the MSI Game App and the BIOS The highest speeds I've gotten so far were 50 MB/s read, with unnaturally high 0 - 5000 MS latency. System Specs: CPU: Ryzen 1600 with stock Wraith cooler Motherboard: MSI B350 Tomahawk BIOS: Latest, version 7A34v19 RAM: 2 x 8GB Team Dark 3000 MHz Storage: 2TB FireCuda 2.5" SSHD GPU: XFX RX 580 8GB (This might be related, but Windows 10 only recognizes it as an RX 480 for whatever reason) PSU: 620W Seasonic Fully Modular (Overkill, I know, I just got it at an amazing price) Case: CoolerMaster Masterbox 5 Lite RGB

I just bought a Sager NP9176 with an SSD and 1 TB Firecuda SSHD. There is an offer on Amazon for a 2TB SSHD and i would like to install it on the 2nd SATA port of the laptop. Does anyone know; given the laptop model, if I will have to get a bracket to install the new SSHD or does the laptop comes with one or isn't necessary at all (just plug and done)? (I can't open the laptop because I don't have it yet, until December 22nd)
